Crosman Vapor Max now in stock

A new era is ushered in with the new Crosman Vapor Max. Crosman, Daisy and Gamo coming together and introducing a highly anticipated and restructured version of the 880 series.
An upgraded all steel pump arm mechanism to give you up to 14 foot pounds of energy in .177. Two Gamo style mags at 10 shots each means you’re not single loading or praying the pellet doesn’t turn backwards lol. Finger molded pump arm and very comfortable even for adults.
Airgun Revisions also has extra mags available for the Vapor Max.

How do high level PCP guns work?

Brand new member here. When I was a kid, I made an 12' long pneumatic potato gun. It had a 10' power section of 4" CPVC (wrapped with old blue jeans, bc I couldn't access pressure rated), with a one way piston check valve made from scratch with PVC drains, rubber diaphragm, and spring. This valve would seel the barrel from the pressure chambers. Once the rear pressure chamber was dumped, the piston would slide back and expose the barrel entry to the main power chamber.

If this isn't how the nice guns work, then I'm going to make my own with this style, because it was capable of making dehydrated potato flakes at above 120psi.

How a moderator affects your zero or POI

This post is more of an FYI for the newer or who hasn't learned it.

Of recent, i have learned how to click (or use the turrets for something other than zeroing my scopes)

At home I have to shoot with moderators.

Of note - the average moderator hung off the end of a barrel (not a shroud) requires 4-5 more upward clicks than without any moderator. This observation included stout barrels like my HMX1000 and my Steyr 110 and my TM1000 pistols.

This is a big deal if you are shooting HFT or hunter field target with a pistol or any situation or law that requires you to remove a moderator.

Moderators attached via the shroud don't seem to cause any deviation or drop in POI as no weight is actually placed on the barrel.

When i attached a fairly lightweight weihrauch moderator directly to my Thomas barrel i had to add 4 upward clicks to my zero at 30 yards. But when i added a heavier Zero DB moderator to my Thomas using the shroud, i had to go back down 4 clicks at 30 yards.

This Also affected my short little TM1000 pistol barrels same # of clicks or changes in elevation were noted for the Weihrauch.

New Beeman P17 just arrived

Im finding my pistols easier to use than rifles since my stroke (but not in NRA Bullseye form!). My long neglected '83 Daisy 717, '81 Crosman 1377 and 1322, RWS 5G and Gamo AF-10 got some love recently (maintenance and tune up) and also got me to looking at what's out there (been out of the loop a long time). Im in a compromised financial position so 'inexpensive' is important.
To that end, the last few weeks I kept finding references to the P17 and researched it a good bit, sounded promising so only a few days ago I ordered online (eBay) and it came today (CA to WI in only a few days!).
Thus far Im liking it, the fit in hand and balance and overall weight is quite nice.
As the reviews all said the closing of the upper slide/barrel (which is the cocking lever for this SSP) takes some strength and is Pinch Prone (YES, use an Open Hand to close!)
Also the loading port at the breech is a bit confined but I adapted quickly. Unlike many reviews I have only a little trouble getting pellets to start into the breech, perhaps they 'coned' that a smidge.
The trigger isn't snicky, it has some 'take up' (which some seem to call a 1st stage) then a fairly long but smooth pull to a nice break.
This is suppose to be a China clone of the HW40, which Im sure is better built (and far more expensive), and this design seems to be an easy O-ring reseal job when needed (and with hardware store O-rings too).
So far Im liking it. Bang for my $50+ seems pretty good, I should get that much entertainment out of it fairly quickly.:sneaky:

Indexing a New Skout Barrel

I received a new Skout hybrid barrel and it appeared to have an indexing mark between 2 and 3:
index3.jpg

So I wanted to verify, and shot this pattern from 21 yards during a break in the rain:
index1.jpg

The upper and lower groups are pre and post zeroing groups. The index numbers according to barrel rotation are:

index2.jpg

I started and ended at #9 which includes a couple zero shots.
So, it was an index mark!

My understanding is that you want to set the barrel to the top or bottom center or you will shoot at an angle - resulting in an off center hit before and after the
zero point. Which begs the question: If my rifle barrel can't be indexed, how do I know it won't shoot at a slight angle? (Like it was "clocked" at 3pm or 9pm)

That would show up on a Field Target rifle as having to hold left or right by varying amounts based on distance to target, right?
Or is the effect so small that it doesn't matter? (or we right it off as wind effects?) I have made dope cards that have a L and R hold at different distances....

Do I understand this correctly? Or have I bought into some snake oil?
Have you indexed a barrel and seen a change in accuracy?
Does a gunsmith have a way to test and index a "fixed rotation" barrel?

dynamic .30 tuned for 60 grain javelins

Havent shot my Dynamic in a month or so. Went out to the squirrelin' fields yesterday during lunch to see who was skipping their mid day siesta. Forgot to hit record on the first two @ 80y and 120y. Remembered on this 106y shot of a sleepy squirrel who only presented neck and head. that was all the dynamic needed.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Pantera/Dynamic platform for long range hunting is pretty hard to beat. IMO is a gun that much more consistent than my Impacts ever were and needed very little to shoot slugs with high velo very consistently. I swapped out the reg for a Huma, but left hammer spring and hammer weights alone. that said I do have the rifle pretty closed to maxed, which seems totally fine.

Only feedback is that it ALWAYS takes 2-3 warmup shots to get the velo up to running speeds...otherwise POI hasnt changed since I got the thing zero'd and I can always rely on it to hit my target out to 150y +. one day I need to go shoot it at 200+ just to see how I can group.

Love this rifle.

NRA Whittington Center, Raton, NM

The 2025 N50 National Championship, held at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, New Mexico, brought together real 50-yard air rifle and .22LR benchrest competitors. Scores from six cards per class (up to 18 cards) were summed, stacked, and sorted under consistent conditions. To ensure fairness, benches were rotated multiple times, eliminating concerns about unequal bench assignments.

Competitors and Community
Top shooters from states including Florida, Louisiana, Utah, California, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Ohio, Colorado, Arkansas, and Washington competed, showcasing skill and sportsmanship. The event fostered camaraderie, with old friends reconnecting and new ones forming. A few highlights:

  • MarkH and HarveyW, who completed a one-day "cannonball run" from the Pacific Northwest.
  • Brad S., Jayson B., and Mike R. from Utah, excelled with new rifles.

Classified Purchases, PayPal FF vs Goods??

Hello All,
I have a question about buying from the classifieds. I see most sellers say PayPal Friends/Family preferred.
I'm wondering why the seller wouldn't send an invoice via PayPal which the buyer would then pay treated as "Goods/Services" which includes all the buyer protections a typical PayPal purchase would have.
Edit: My PayPal account issued a card with 0% APR. When I checked with PayPal they said it only applies to Goods/Services not F/F. That's the motivation for asking not any worry about being ripped off.
I guess better to just lay cash and be fine with it. I just normally like interest free deals is all.

Thanks and apologies for the original question, was misleading to my intention.

N/A  Maple Custom

I am having a custom poppet made for my Pinty Bullpup. I also wondered about the tariffs? Here is their reply for those interested. Glad to hear.
No problem at all. Our shipping partner has implemented the tariff collection in place and is ready to accept packages. However we are still waiting for the USMCA compliance forms to avoid most of the tariffs for the buyer. This should be ready tomorrow.
