i have a big cardinal colony that i feed and several red-bellied woodpeckers i give whole peanuts to.
well, this pest came right out to the woodpecker's breakfast table this morning and boy did he get a
wake up call !!!
then about 20 minutes later his girlfriend showed up also robbing my WP's peanuts, then she got the same
treatment from the crown mk2 and hybrids.
any other criminals coming ?

I will admit, while I didn't get sucked into the FX specific marketing , for some reason I found myself chasing shooting slugs , so in a way I guess I did fall victim.

I had to think really hard about the type of shooting ill be doing a majority of the time... Nothing really past 125 yards. So why do I need slugs? My pesting with pellets is more than sufficient, ethical, and ammo is cheap. My target shooting is the same and the ammo is still cheap.

My alpha wolf is putting out 50 fpe with pellets and same hole accuracy at 50 yards with 10 shots. My taipan long I just sold was slinging 33.95 .25 MOA at 125 yards at 60fpe.

Are we falling victim to the marketing or do many of us actually need slugs with our .22/.25 rifles? Nobody has released any long term wear results on the rifles pushing the new impacts past 1000 fps on a regular basis either....

Now with that said, don't get me wrong, I still have a desire to shoot slugs long range.... some day I will.

At some point over the last year or so, I realized the 18gr JSB pellet BCs increased for the better. I used to use 0.033-0.035, but now I'm seeing a minimum of 0.042 like Strelok has in their projectile database (as high as 0.046 inside ~50y in certain conditions). I don't ever recall the 18gr having this high of a BC.

Then I realized that there are two separate pellet profiles in Strelok and elsewhere. One being called "Exact Heavy" and the other "Exact Jumbo Heavy". Are these actually two differing pellets?

Took the aea zeus 72cal out for some deer control. Everything looked good when I pulled the trigger but after seeing the deer the shot was kinda far back. But using a big slug like the 72cal the deer still didn't even run 20 yards.. I believe the same shot with a smaller caliber gun and I probably wouldn't have found it. I happy Everything worked out but it goes to show the poop does happen when you hunting.

I was shooting groups in leaves at about 40 yards when this large wood ant walked up the stem.
I was ready to go as he came into view on top of the leaf and put one behind the shoulder.
If’n you zoom in on the middle leaf you can see how the shot happened… turned out that it was too much gun and there was only a damaged hindquarter left.

I have a like new barely used Atlas BT65 bipod and cash on my end for an accu tac of similar size.

I love the function and fit of the atlas but I do prefer my accu-tacs I have .

Went to the farm with my Air Arms S510 today and started getting it dialed in.
I started at 20 yards to get it set left to right. I then moved to 40 yards, and was doing OK, both 20 and 40 were shooting low, but I wasn't sure where I would be zeroing it, so I moved it out to 50. Of course, as soon as I moved it out, the wind picked up and the buildings around me tend to make the wind kind of chaotic where I was shooting, so the pellets were all over the place.

At one point, I was looking though the scope at the target and one of the pellet holes was slowly moving up the target. It took me a second to realize it was a bug crawling along, so I had to take the shot, thinking maybe I would get somewhat close, but probably not. I took the shot and it flew away. Or so I though... As I loaded up the target at the end of my shooting session I found this:
Again, this was into a very fickle rapidly changing wind, so really this was chance, far more than skill.

Many Athlon optics in the past were limited to a 15 and 25yd parallax. Recently I was on their website and noticed several of them were now listing parallax down to 10yds including the Argos BTR Gen 2 10-40x and the Ares BTR 4.5-27x50. I had concidered using the Argos for Field Target but the 15yd minimum was a no-go for obvious reasons.

Just thought it was worth pointing out just in case anyone else had steered away from them in the past for that reason like I had. Athlon makes amazing optics for the money and now they are officially in the playing field for our hobby as well.

New on 5/21, this Huma regulated side lever .177 Daystate Huntsman Revere shoots very consistently 18fpe prefers JSB 10-13 diablos. Stock has a couple subtle rub marks and I just barely noticed a small scuff 3-5mm so it is not "like new" but 96-98% really clean depending how you judge these things. Comes with Daystate and AOA test cards, Daystate and Eagle Vision fill probes, Daystate single shot tray, and two new style 12-round Daystate metal folding door magazines (very nice quality, $100 each these days). Gun works perfectly and groups well (1" spinners at 50 yards 90%, single fat hole at 20 yards). Select Walnut stock was offered from AOA for $375, it is superior to the standard stock. The gun is accurate and consistent enough for field target and is a wonderful heirloom quality piece.

I have for your consideration a very clean, great shooting 30cal DreamTact with 600mm daul port barrel, installed high pressure huma reg that can be adjusted to 200bar set at 160bar, FX CF bottle comes with 2 mags, 2 power plenums, enhanced buttstock and Hugget Moderator. I've replaced the valve and valve seat and Orings while I was changing the valve. Setup this way it's pushing a JSB 44.75 at 926fps. These are NOT 5 shot groups. They are full 11 round mag dumps.

Took the alpha wolf out in the winds today at 50 yards. First two groups are my base tune for 25.39 jsb monster redisgns. Last group is the final revision.

Shooting them at 930 fps.

Same hole accuracy for 10 shots and 1 shot in the hole at the top of that group.

well for sure the future of airguns will depend on something new. and i am blind so it will have to be someone else that makes it but here is an idea worth all kinds of treasure.

start with the best pellets the ones we like and are cheap and ones for particular situations.
build a reciever and barrel that will caress those pellets and slugs not grind groves into them cause that is wasting the energy of a propelled object.
now create a powerplant that ghas a good plenun and regulator but a tank just twice the size of the plenum. now conceive and build a compressor that is small enough and light enough to fit into the airguns stock and run off a lithium battery and runs quiet (relatively) filling the small tank to the sweet spot and keeping it there by running between shots.
so it will have to run fast enough to replace air pressure and shoot semi auto . now make a better integral suppession system bigger shrowd loose the current baffles and replace them with small rubber objects that will allow air flow at pressure from inside the barrel but will take advantage of gravity and settle and not allow the same air to return or stay in that barrel, small holes in barrel to send pressure into shrowd and offset small holes in shrowd to release pressure after it passes the rubber baffles.
do not make those rubber baffles too tight.
now guess what, make sure you can adjust the reg and hammer spring and trigger. and for goodness sake put sling mounts on it and make the reciever work from top while making the magazine insert from the bottom so if there is ever an issue you can solve it from more than one direction.
lastly since its already using electricity to run the nano compressor put all that new digital computing software in there to make it easy.

and make that platform able to interchange recievers and barrels for different calibers.

the company that builds this airgun would be at the top of the airgun world. and they could charge just about whatever for that air gun.

now onto pistols...
make a air pistol that is pistol sized and can producr a decent amount of energy with a short barrel. just make it able to shoot 20 rounds. give it either a replaceable air tank or a nano compressor and now refill issues go away.
what kinds of ideas do you have to make this better?

the ammo our pellets and slugs are the key. build the gun around the pellets and slugs and we can even take over and replace firearms and have an airgun nation for realz...
