How many people can shoot well both right-handed and left-handed?

With PB handguns, shooting from either hand is not rare, probably because the short gun itself is easier to position relative to the cross-dominant eye than a rifle is and probably because of the possible need during a self-defense situation. I practice both ways with my handgun, but so far at least, not with my air rifle.

Does anybody shoot their rifle close to equally well on either side? Do you stick with the dominant eye for both hands or do you also train your nondominant eye so that shooting with the nondominant hand is easier?

I don’t see a need to do it with a rifle (excluding war), but if someone knows of good reason to do so, please elaborate.

(Training both ways costs more...twice as much ammo and time consumed!)

Which caliber for Hunting

Just bought a FX Wildcat .30 600mm. Was able to get 56gr Javelins to shoot at 101 fpe. I have been debating changing to either .22 or .25 and buy the $349 barrel kit for smaller prey and save on the air.

Been reading here about a few that have been using the lighter .30 pellets out to 100 yards and it looks promising. I have many pellets in .22 and .25. Plus I could use less air and still be able to lower power verses sticking with the .30 as is, which works great for Nutria and larger prey. Do have many Starlings and Crows in my area.

Should I just go lighter pellets and keep the WC in .30 as is. Or would it be an advantage to shoot lighter pellets in .22 or .25? When I win the lottery, I'll get an FX in all calibers, that would be a good day.

Lightweight .22 Carbine Options

I searching for my next pcp and need some help. I'm looking for a light weight pcp carbine / bullpup with a high shot count for target shooting at 30 yards. Here are my requirements:

0.22 Cal
Less than $600
Over all length less than 34"
~3000 psi fill pressure (I use a 3300 psi scuba tank to fill)
Regulator is preferred
Shot count of 40+
Muzzle energy of ~12-16 ft-lbs
Backyard friendly / silencer capable

The Umarex Notos looks pretty good but doesn't have the high shot count and I can't fill it to the max 3600 psi fill pressure with my scuba tank.

The Walther Reign (EU spec with regulator) has my attention but there is very little info on it. Seems like maybe you can't adjust the hammer spring or have any way of adjusting the FPS. Its looks like a really good solution but I'm worried about a lack of support/info/tuning/etc... Even the Reign UXT (USA version) doesn't have much info on the forums.

The Bemjamin Marauder Pistol (P-rod) is looking like a good choice if I modify it to add a 13ci bottle. I like that idea!

I also like the Buck-Rail carbine conversion kits for the Diana Bandit / Artemis PP800 but wish there was a way to increase the air capacity for a higher shot count.

What other options can yall come up with? I don't mind modifying a gun as long as I don't have to do any machine work. Point me in the right direction please!

opinion on pellet testing

i am about to test some .22 pellet brands and weights . My question is : should i shoot 10 pellets each time i change inbetween types or brands before i test another type of pellet so as to re lead the barrel with the new pellet ? OR do you think this is not needed ,maybe overkill .
Also i read of people cleaning the barrel (brass brush and patches for a fresh clean barrel .

New FX airgun?

I came across this new FX Air Rifle, I believe its called the Dynamathera ? From what I read this double fisted lead slinger is the only pesting rifle rated for T-rex. It looks somewhat like the panthera and the dynamic maybe thats why they named it what they did? Not really sure but I sure am intrigued, 1 cocking lever, 2 triggers? woof.

Anyone else have any info?

Just kidding, I really really liked my panthera just cant understand the dynamamas and panterrifics , all the names for the same rifle lol

FX Royale .22 - refinished stock with True Oil

A couple weeks back, the summer was getting hotter and I decided to take on a 'project' with one of my air guns. I wanted to try to refinish the Walnut stock on my FX Royale 400 .22, which was virtually perfect, and there was absolutely no need to do this....I just wanted to try it and see if I liked it.

A friend of mine ( ELH ) had just finished a partial restore of his air gun stock and I got interested in the process. I watched a bunch of "True Oil" stock finishing YouTubes and read through some forums on the approach. I have never ventured into any type of wood re-finishing or restoring before, so I thought I would give it a twirl. Wow, what a lot of work! Between sanding, applying many coats of True Oil, using 0000 Steel wool, etc.....I realized this was a slow process.

However, I could not wait each day to get back out to the garage work bench and sand/apply another coat after 24 hours of drying time. I probably went a bit over board on the finish, but I do have a heavy hand. I read somewhere it is better to apply many very thin/sparing coats of True Oil then to try and glob it on. Anyway, I enjoyed the venture.

Have to say, I made a ton of mistakes along the way, but Ed coached me quite a bit and I hung in there to finish the Royale. Now that I finished one of my guns, I may do this again on one or both of the Anschutz .22 LRs at some point, but maybe not also.

Anyway, here are some pics, and for any of those who have not tried this, I would encourage you to give it a whirl.

Tom

Accident. Daystate Air Ranger bottle front part blasts

I know HPA is not a joke but under the scenario this accident happened raises many questions on the safety while using the products of even the top end companies of the world.

For the peace of mind and safety, I always make plenums out of solid bar of high grade stainless steel. It costs more and weighs more but safety first.

Umair Bhaur

Another old crosman in the stable.

The Crosman Model 70 is a .177 caliber, bolt action, single CO2 pellet rifle with dovetail scope rails made to resemble the Winchester Model 70 firearm. These were manufactured between 1973 and 1980

The gun was not a huge success compared to other models. Just to much plastic. most have probably been broken over the years. the plastic barrel shroud will crack and break if not taken care of.

They are attractive, decked out in a wood stock.

This one is one of the best examples I personally have seen. and surprisingly shoots pretty good at 40 yards. 15 shots, haven't adjusted sight.

Twenty years later

20 years ago one of our more senior AGN members sent this Steyr LG100 to Allen Zasadny for some of his extraordinary airgun gunsmithing skills. I was fortunate to acquire this beauty just this year and even more fortunate to be able to send it straight back to Allen Zasadny for several updates. I figure nobody should touch another tuners / gunsmiths work.
Got the gun scoped out and zeroed and created my basic dope charts. This gun is very light compared to my other FT platforms and it performed as you would expect a Steyr to - so it’s a real shooter!

Airforce Condor or Benjamin Marauder for accuracy?

After a LOT OF QUESTIONS I've decided to spend more than I estimated (first time right?) and have whittled my choices down between the Airforce Condor and Benjamin Marauder, both in .22; but dang that .25 hits hard....

For those in the know, which one tends to be the most accurate out of the box, say out to 75 or even 100 yard crow work? I don't mind the single shot if it's more accurate than a repeater.
Thanks in advance,
Gos

PCP Rifle  NLA FX Maverick Sniper 25 and 22 Cals

This Maverick came as a 25 Sniper, 580 bottle, pictures show it with a 600mm barrel.
Currently has (2) 25 mags, 25 cal pin probe installed and will have the 700mm Superior barrel also. Lost the original shroud to an experiment so it comes with an Impact shroud, just a little shorter.
Included is 22 probe and (1) 22 magazine with the 700mm Superior barrel and FX stock moderator.

Current tune is without hammer weight and heavier valve spring for light pellets - will tune to desired pellet and speed in 25 cal.

Targets  NLA RMAC target starter set!

The event that happens in Utah uses mostly MGM brand targets. That's where I got these from a few years ago. I used them as templates to make my own for practice. I have no use for them anymore as I will not be returning to that exhibition. These are the same targets used for both speed and precision. Personally, I find value in practicing with the same targets that will be used at an event, whenever possible.
Everything is very high quality and made from 3/16 AR400 steel and rated to hold up to 36-42gr traveling at 800-1100fps. Most of their targets are relatively inexpensive (~$12) but, the bases are quite pricey! That's where most of my price for this set comes from. I'm also including an MGM target T-post mount. I like how they designed their targets to hang from the bases. The square hole design forces you to turn them to the side in order to mount them. This stops them from bouncing off when they get shot. Simple and clever, IMO.
Here's a link to the website - MGM targets Check them out, they've got a lot of fun and challenging targets! You can also take a look at the possibility of picking up some hex targets to challenge yourself and practice with.
I'm also throwing in a home made Fox target. I welded some threaded rod onto a piece of rebar and then cut out the shape of a fox similar to the one MGM sells and that was used at 91 yards in the speed event 2 years ago. It's not perfect and it's not AR400 but, it held up to me shooting it with my comp rifle at 91y.

$160 shipped conus. PayPal F&F preferred or add 3.5%.
