Bust the chuck, or leave him be?

There has been a woodchuck living in the burm here are the farm off and on for a while. I never saw him, but his holes were quite obvious. I dumped used kitty litter and my compost bucket down his first hole, and he dug a new one. I urinated down his second hole and blocked the opening with a cinder block and then saw no evidence of him for two months. Today I actually saw the little turd leaving the flower garden and he was heading toward the burm. He has dug a new hole.

The question is, should I hunt him down. He isn’t causing any trouble in the burm, I just don’t want him undermining the barn or sheds. He keeps using the burm so that appears to be the favored location.

Are woodchucks territorial? Should I expect to only have one in the farmyard, and if he likes the burm I don’t have to worry about another moving under the barn? Or are they somewhat gregarious and any offspring they have will move in next door?

Thanks,
-pg

Brocock/BRK  BRK Ghost Carbine .177

In an attempt to create a sub 10 lb compact FT rig, I purchased a BRK Ghost Carbine and a Kahles 10-50x56 FT specific scope. I added a PRS adjustable butt plate and a PRS flip out single shot loader.
Safety issue = if you don’t want to shoot the ends of your fingers off accidentally 🙄 you really need to add length to the barrel so a Zero Db Moderator made sense.
Overall Setup was pretty easy.
I used Burris XTR signature rings for the first time; very nice way to get some additional MOA and I went with with 5 MOA option since 60 yards is as far as I’m shooting my ghost.
I would have liked to eliminate the BRK pic rail completely, but, if the scope was any lower than 3.25 ” C of Barrel to C of scope I couldn’t get a cheek weld and eyebox that worked well. This meant my zero would be at 30 yards if I wanted to eliminate hold unders.
In the end the total weight came in at 10 lbs 9 oz. Damn those 9 oz gremlins!
For FT this platform really needs the trigger spring swapped out for a lighter one as it’s definitely a hunting trigger. Most of my FT guns fire if you sneeze 🫵
StrelokPro data is spot on as far as I can tell at this point.
With the power wheel on 15 and the regulator at 100 I’m pushing JSB 10.34’s at 865 FPS…. Increasing power wheel above 15 provided no increase in speed. Accuracy testing will follow.

FX  Tried something different this morning with M3

I took some .25 cal. JSB 33.95's and put them in a vibrating case cleaner with some corncob media and cleaned them and took them out and sprayed them down with some Dillon case lube. I shot them this morning on my woods range and I think it did make a difference in the way they shot. First group I shot at 50 yards, was fifteen shots all in the center of the bull...:)

here's a pic of the group....

I also tried to make a short video of shooting a 3" steel target at 100 yards....

DIY Pellet Pouch

In a recent post the poster was asking about a pellet pouch and a number of nice commercially available ones were suggested.

I suggested a homemade pellet pouch on that thread and thought that I would start a new thread here to bring it to the attention to those who might want to make their own.

The advantage of this pouch is that you can reach into to pluck out a pellet (one handed) without having to fumble with lids or closures. The pouch has a flexible flap the stops the pellets from falling out.

I recently detailed my pellet pouch in a guest blog for Pyramyd A.I.R. so I'll just provide a link to that...

Hope this is of intrest!
Cheers!

How to share your meals...

Whenever I eat ribs I like to share the bones with the local wildlife. In less than 1 hour since leaving the food this raccoon came by and set off the Harbor Freight garage alarm sensor seen on the left (white box). When I opened the door the raccoon wisely walked away. Soon after it return to finish its meal, but unfortunately it got a taste of a 34 grain JSB causing it to do a wild dance that knocked over my webcam's tripod disconnecting the power cord.

Need new compressor

My ,nearly new 7 year old, AV 4500 has taken a crap. I'm replacing the high pressure Reed when it gets here. I'm hoping to get this season with it. However, if it's a dead bed bug, does anyone have suggestions towards the tuxting models? I am fully happy with my AV service and would entertain another or many other brands. 1/2 price for the tuxting. Inclined to go that way. I believe they are making a lot of the compressors.

FX  Is anyone familiar with the o-ring size that should fit inside the FX IMPACT hammer spring adjuster to keep it from unscrewing?

I remember someone mentioned it to me…but I was never told what size o-ring. Does anyone have that info? Could you show me a picture so I can copy it?

Should I also apply a toothpick end sized drop of blue loctite or vibratite when installing?

Thanks in advance.

Western Airguns  Putting the Western Airguns .25 Sidewinder through its progression.

Today, after doing my accurizing work on the barrel of a Western Airguns Sidewinder, I was able to shoot it. The semi auto factor is way cool, I only emptied the mag in full auto once, Woo Hoo!
This gun loves the JSB King Heavy's original 34 grain, I was getting one ragged hole groups at 40 yards. It's preferred velocity was at 965 FPS.
I find the build quality of this American made beast to be rather impressive. One of the things I like about this gun is that the structural bolts go into a steel threaded boss instead of aluminum.
Tomorrow I will be testing the three different JSB made 25 grain pellets at the same 965 fps, let's see what happens with those.
I hope this gun performs well for me over the long haul, I truly desire to add an American made gun, alongside my beloved Crickets.
Thanks for reading.

Tuning  Russian Jager Evo XP .22 PCP

Hello there
I have Jager Evo XP .22. The gun has factory moderator and in the end of the moderator there is the thread. I toned the gun for high power (40 grain - 950 fps) which made the gun somewhat loud. I am looking to find the easy way of adding external moderator to the gun.
Questions:
1. Does anyone knows what thread is in the end of the gun
2. Or if anyone can suggest what know of moderator to use an where to buy it..

Please let me know. Your help is greatly apprised!

Choosing the correct size moderator

I currently do not have access to a quality sound meter thus my question:

Will the use of an oversized or bigger caliber moderator create a noise reduction benefit or is it just a waste.
Example high flow thunder ordnance.30 in a .177 application.
Would the same oversized moderator improve airflow behind the pellets?

HW/Weihrauch  Weihrauch & Proper Screwdrivers

I am getting familiar with my fairly new hw35, and eagerly awaiting my hw97 from AoA. Being retired, I am shooting every day and as this is my first springer, I am learning a great deal from the rifle and the kind folks on this forum. Not being blessed with any semblance of handiness, I tend to learn by trial and error, much too much error. Anyway, I survived my latest crises and learned that I did not, in fact, break two scopes in a row, in the same day. The great shot groups, followed by erratic groupings turned out to be loose stock and ring screws.

Despite having no skill with my hands, I have accumulated a large number of screwdrivers over the years, yet I seem to have none that are a proper fit for the screws on my hw35. Forearm screw, rear trigger guard screw, front trigger guard screw and Rekord trigger screw, I have screw drivers of reasonable width, but not thickness and/or shank length. It is clear I will need to tighten these things regularly, so I need to buy proper screwdrivers.

Can someone please tell me the specific sizes of screwdrivers I need?

Also, I have read here that I need my Sportsmatch rings to be about 30lbs torque for the bases and 15-18 lbs for the rings. How about the torque for the stock screws?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

GX CS4-I compressor P/S fan

I was snooping today on my new compressor (while I'm impatiently waiting on the Avenge-X to show) and wanted to see how it ran so took the cover off. I noticed the small fan in the internal power supply wasn't running while it was pumping. Just curious if this is normal - ie it has a temperature control switch that kicks it on or if I need to do some EE on it. Anybody with the CS3-I, have you noticed if the power supply fan runs continuous or cycles? If this were my design, I'd have it run continously. I was running it from 120Vac. I guess it could be only needed for 12V input?

Considering selling half my PCP collection as a one lump sell...may seem stupid but...

Afternoon and happy Labor Day Weekend.

I have way more airguns than I need, probably like most of us on this website. I hardly shoot anymore and sorta could use the $$ now that wife and I are retired and want to do some traveling in our recently purchased used 5th wheel camper.

I have 4, maybe 5 PCP's that I'm considering selling as a group collection. Here's what I'd like to put in the classified section here in a few weeks or so:

I'll make a solid plywood box for the rifles with plenty of protection from damage. The compressor which is very heavy and air tank would ship separately in a well built shipping box. I have another exact compressor to keep, they are really really good machines and super low noise.

I realize that this is something unexpected and unheard of, I guess, but I don't want to piece meal these out in the classified section here. I'll still have more than enough airguns to keep me entertained. None of my kids would be interested in my collection if I should kick over so I'd rather enjoy the exter $$ now rather than my kids selling them without a clue how to sell them.

Most likely I'll be asking less than half the original selling price I made which sounds dumb but I want a quick and easy sell.

No auctions are allowed here and I'm not interested in that so my asking price will be fixed.

When I place the ad in a few weeks I'll post a thread here, no photos or descriptions here in the General Discussion forum.

Long post.......but oh well. :)
