I used to love looking at photos that @Flintsack posted. He did some good long-range shooting with some great looking vintage air rifles. Anyone ever hear from him?

now for the good part…. i’m stressed the f out. wife is asking me to frame a 4’x4’ mirror on the garage wall and i have to clean up the garage to get to the wall.. but she’s offering to buy me a gun. any gun of my choice..

i just hung out with @Smssibz yesterday and he was gracious enough to let me shoot his .22 brk ghost hp . awesome gun! i also watched him take down a bird at 125 and then another at 200+ yards! this validated my suspicion of .22 being my favorite caliber.
now, wife is putting me to work on father’s day.. hate it, but she’s willing to pay.
that ghost is REALLY nice! are there any other .22 guns you all would recommend that’s slug capable and quiet enough at 200 yards?
i’m looking at the slash but there really isn’t anything on the internet about it. utah air is releasing them on the 18th.. hopefully someone puts out an honest review of it soon.

Nothing going right for me. I have three compressors & and not one is working lone story so I won,t go there. But I have parts
ordered for one of my Tuxing & there coming from China. But I have another that a no name YH. It was working
fine when I stopped using it two years ago. It has been stored in a spare bed room. Well I plumed her up hit the switch
she turned the pump over for just a short time then nothing. I thought maybe tripped a bracker.No still getting power.
Is there a trip switch some where on these. I pulled the cover & it turns free by turning the fan. That is coupled to the
compressor. Any idea?

It was delivered to my porch at 12:10 today Fathers Day and a Sunday to boot ! That is less than 24 hours on a weekend .
USPS gets a positive to help offset the many negative deliveries .

I'm talking Diana 48 specifically, and all springers generically? Reason I ask is I don't like to leave it cocked, but sometimes my targets don't show up for 20 minutes. The gun is a pain to cock when target presents itself.

Ok guys just testing the waters on this to see what happens.

I have a post in the Field Target section about not getting the rifle to feel right when shooting. There is nothing wrong with the rifle, I just can't get comfortable behind the rifle and would rather look at something more comfortable and easier for myself to shoot. This is USFT #86 that I purchased last summer from a fellow member who used the rifle for some benchrest shooting. The rifle shoots as it should and is as accurate as you could want. You will have no question about "if you are going to hit the target" it will be what did you do as a shooter to miss the target. I have been shooting the JSB 10.34 pellets and have the rifle under 20 ftlb for Hunter division. I was planning on going to an event at the oakdale gun club in July, so if the rifle is still around I will be down there shooting.

Went out after pest birds today, these unfortunate nine were caught in the act of stealing feed. I missed opportunities on at least 6 more, wasn’t ready for shots and some I just plain missed… Either way a fun few hours. The owner wants me to prioritize woodchucks. So the Ghost Carbine is coming out to play next… Shots from 25 to 40 on the pictured pests…

Hi Folks,

I’ve been working for a while on solving the slow first shot issue in the FX DRS. I’ve done various tests and tried different types of O-rings and greases.

Finally, after working on it for a long time, I can say that I’ve pretty much solved the problem, as long as the DRS is properly tuned and you have no regulator creep.

Why is the first shot slow?
The slow first shot happens because an O-ring around the valve pin tends to stick. This usually becomes noticeable after an hour, or sometimes even after 24 hours. The first slow shot is typically about 30–40 FPS slower or even more.

Why solve this?
The first shot is especially important for hunters. They need to be able to rely on that first shot. I’m not allowed to hunt with PCPs in my country, but even so, I want the first shot to be consistent and accurate for benchrest shooting.

Valvepin
I polished the valve pin until it looked like a mirror on both ends, without removing any material.


Which O-ring is causing the problem?
O-ring #10 → 2.9 x 1.78 mm PUR 90 is the O-ring that tends to cause the issue. Look at the O-ring that came out of my DRS, not good.




Which O-rings have I tested?
I tried a 2.9 x 1.78 mm Viton (FKM) 80 Shore A O-ring. This one performed better then PUR90 but still started to stick after about half an hour.

Then I tested a 2.9 x 1.78 mm NBR (Nitrile) 90 Shore A O-ring. This one seemed to perform the best, provided the right grease was used.

Use the NBR 90 O-ring.

Which greases have I tested?
I tried Krytox GPL 205 G0. Initially, it worked very well, but after 24 hours, it started to stick a bit and lost the trust in it.

Then I tested Huma Airgun Lube Silicone Grease. Important: don't use too much! Apply it very lightly,just enough to leave a thin film is sufficient.

I tested both of these lubricants on the two different O-rings. The best result was with the Huma Airgun Lube Silicone Grease, make sure to use that one.

Final Conclusion:
After 24 hours, the first shot remains consistent and accurate. Keep in mind that temperature can affect pellet velocity. Here in Belgium, the weather has been quite warm in the past few days, which may influence results slightly. The first image shows the shots taken in the morning. The second image shows the shots taken one day later, slightly after noon, so nearly 28 hours in total between both sessions.

Over the years I bought airguns that Phil [[email protected]] had listed on the American Airgun Classifed Ads [AACA] website. I have heard lots of scammer stories, luckily I only dealt with people like Phil. Just bought a Crosman 167 from him. I thought I mention a positive story about a repeat seller - Phil [[email protected]].

The Crosman167's condition is excellent, as usual the peep sight missing. I am a collector who shoots rather than shooter who collects, finding honest seller important to me. I am grateful all additional channel for vintage airguns.

Phil is only one of the many people I have meet AACA website online and sent money to airgun. It would be great to hear some other people's positive experiences.
