BR Questions

Thinking about PCP BR, no competition just for my own enjoyment of trying to put them all in one hole at 30-75 yards. Have a BR scope, a front rest and rear bags. I considered a Benjerman Challenger as a starter rifle. But they come with expensive sights, and I don't need them, and I find nothing used. I already have a M-Rod Field and Target, is there anything else I should look at? My funds are not unlimited.

FX  FX Impact M4 Compact in .25 shooting Hybrids

Hello all,

I have a FX Impact M4 Compact in .25 with a heavy liner. I'm looking to shoot some Hybrids up to 100 yards. My goal is accuracy, not FPE. From your experience and without me having to use hundreds of Hybrids, what speed is best for the hybrids? It'll be a good target for me as right now I have it tuned for 945 fps. I'm only able to shoot 12 yards, but with the 12 yards, it should be hole on hole, but it's not. Group shot count is not consistent, but no group is hole on hole. My Krait Standard in .22 shooting slugs is hole on hole. See pictures below. Or is the Impact compact just not able to shoot Hybrids? If so I guess I'll be going back to pellets. Last 3 (Bottom right 3) were JSB Hades going at 951 fps, same tune as the Hybrids.

I usually try to get groups very tight at 12 yards before going to the range. Unfortunately, I don't have a place to shoot far.

Benjamin  Marauder question scope

Hello,

Im thinking on picking up a Marauder for use on Red Squirrels in my area, live on 3 acres but need the Air Gun to be quiet because of neighbors.
I have new in a box a ATHLON Talos/SFP 3-12x40 been on the shelf for 2 years. Is this a good enough scope for the Marauder and varmits? Dont think ill be shooting more than 40 yards maybe longer but who knows. Could go with another PCP but would like to keep it under 1000.00 dollars,

Appreciat the advice

L-E-M Spitzer Pellet Mould

A fellow airgunner was kind enough to gift me a L-E-M mould in .22. I finally figured out where a tin of slugs came from after laying around for 20 years.
I cast a few myself, and they are in the 20 - 22gr. range.
As for the dimensions, they range from .217 - .223 as cast.
Decided to size a few samples from the tin in .2173, and distribute to a few of my customers.
This is by far the most difficult mould to work with, as there is no sprue cut-off.
Need to be tested in a PCP 22 - 35 FPE range.

Umarex  Notos detuning for more shots per fill?

Hey Everyone!

I really like the current form factor (and look) of a stock notos. But I was wondering if anyone has detuned this thing to get more shots per fill. My max distance to shoot in my backyard is about 30 yards, so I don't think I really need much power for that distance. I have the hammer spring turned down about 1.5 turns to the left and get roughly 35 shots till i get down to 2000psi on the gauge.

Just would like advice if it would worth it to possibly lower the regulator and/or put in a lighter hammer spring, or if I should look into getting a c88 plenum thing to get more shots per fill. I do use a hand pump which is why I like the current size and form factor. Thank you in advance!

Does anyone have a clear picture of a HP ultravalve firing pin. I need to see what the HP ultravalve pin looks like as the one in mine and one that i bought im now not sure what is what.

There is a pic on brk ghost workshop guide of 2 valves but the description is vague and can lead to whatever my mind thinks, so i need some clarity please...

Does anyone have a pic of a HP ultra valve and non ultra valve pin please

Custom bird feeder/pellet trap:

Just thought I’d show y’all my custom bird feeder/pellet trap. “What the heck is that,” I hear you ask? Well, allow me to explain. I live in the Sonoran desert outside of town. We get A LOT of wildlife from quail, dove, hawks, ravens, ground squirrels, rabbits, bobcats, coyotes, badgers, rattlesnakes, and sometimes even deer. They all get a pass from me on my property… all EXCEPT our region’s much hated white-throated wood rat, aka: the dreaded pack rat. 🐀

I’ve lived n this house (my parents’) off and on my entire life and they very generously left it to me after they passed on. Through the years I’ve had to replace thousands of dollars worth of wiring in classic cars and vintage motorcycles due to pack rat damage. They LOVE chewing off the insulation on automobile wiring and have even been known to start fires because of this.

I work in pest control so I’m familiar with the negative effects of poison bait and its horrible consequences up the food chain. I refuse to use it at my home and on the job. For rodents we use Black Cat snap traps. They are tough as nails and when they close on the head/neck of a rodent it is instant lights out. A very quick and clean solution. The problem with them, however, is that they also kill non-target species like birds and snakes.

I came up with this bird feeder/pellet trap as a solution to this and as a way to put a little trigger time in my pack rat elimination strategy. With this, I still get all the wildlife activity on my porch but I can target my nemesis.

Since pack rats are strictly nocturnal, I have a home security camera pointed at it to alert me when the feeder has activity. When it alerts me I go to my “sniper hide” on my porch about 20 yards away and wait for my quarry to appear. Once they show themselves it’s a simple matter of putting one to their dome. One shot, one kill. No non-targeted species are harmed or poisoned, and I get the satisfaction of a little revenge for all of those wiring harnesses I’ve paid for. I use a PARD 007 NV unit on my scopes or I use some strategicly placed green solar lights to help illuminate my crosshairs. This way I can use any rifle in my collection for pack rat duty!

As an added bonus, I toss the dispatched rats down onto my driveway from my porch and the corpses are gone by daybreak. Nothing gets wasted in the desert.

I hope you enjoy my setup and please feel free to use the idea to make your own. In areas with chipmunks and squirrels that do damage to homes, it’s a great way to take care of the problem without alerting the neighbors!

N/A  FX M4 is a bargain????

So I decided I need to get a .30, and after checking all the prices a FX M4 standard is a bargain at $2100.

Well I guess, we have finally reached the point that a $2000 air rifle is remarkably reasonable???

poop better get one while the getting it good,,,, smgdh

HW/Weihrauch  David and Goliath (HW25L .177 and HW80 .25)

I really just wanted the HW80 with the .25 barrel, but impulse bid on the little tyke too. Ended up with both of them.

While cocking the 80 to test fire, it took extra effort to get it to latch, so I had a suspicion there was a spring kit in it. Also, there was some detonation when fired, so just shot it once. A little louder than a .22 short, and smoke filled the bore. Set that gun aside and test-fired the HW25L. OK...so this little thing is like a slice of pumpkin pie with Cool Whip. Sighted in at about 15yrds, not on paper, just center punching poplar leaves. LOL Hard to say, but this thing may replace the HW30 as the go-to backyard defender. The trigger is on the heavy side but breaks crisply. Not a fan of the fiber optic sights either, but other than that… a sweetheart.

Stripped the HW80 and, sure enough, found a Vortek kit and two power washers installed, so that's a plus. Notice the grease on the front of the piston seal. That's the culprit causing the detonation. I ended up cleansing the tube with enamel reducer and removing one of the power washers. The piston fit a little tight in the bore, so also trimmed the seal OD while it was apart.

Initial results over chrony after reassembly_
Predator Polymag .25 ...........26gr............542fps.........16.96fpe
JSB Exact King .25 ...........25.39gr............539fps.........16.38fpe
Both these pellets and the JSB King Heavys fit unusually tight in the breech. Anyone else with a .25 notice that?

The numbers are lower than expected, but "wow," this thing sounds and feels like a force to be reckoned with. No sights yet, fresh out of scopes, just shooting into a tree stump at about 25 yards; sounds like a ball peen hammer smacking it.

Alternating between two springers on opposite ends of each spectrum is an interesting experience.
Guess I'll be looking for a good scope and mount.

AEA  I can’t trust this gun. What now?

Well, I thought I could try getting into this air gun hobby. I liked the look of the harpoon and ended up with an initial investment of about $1000 including compressor and extra cartridges.

But the first time I fired it, it blew up the bullet holders in my hand. I fired two rounds, and both bullet holders were shattered to pieces. Please see pics. I noticed there is also no machined groove for venting across the bottom of the shells that were sent. Although I can’t be sure if that’s critical.

Anyway, all four plastic bullet holders were absolutely shredded after only one shot each. I’m $1000 deep into this new gun that explodes under fire in my hand.
The seller tells me it’s probably my fault and to buy some metal bullet holders from Texoma. I did order them along with a charging block from Texoma. But then when I fired my other two cartridges and they blew up in the gun, I was done. I can’t have this. I’m not an expert, but guns aren’t supposed to blow up internal components while shootingin from my hand.

At this point, I am seriously afraid of this 50 caliber gun. It has been fired four times, breaking each time. I asked the vendor for a refund and he vehemently explained to me about his policy, and how it’s my fault. And how I’ve damaged the gun. And how he’s going to take a 30% restocking fee, even though the gun has never worked. And that if I returned the gun and anything is scratched or broken, there will be no refund at all. He would also issue the call tag, but rather is forcing me to pay for return shipping.

I was really hoping I had this cool new hobby here and I would probably really like it if my gun felt safer. But after the seller started blaming me I knew this deal was falling apart. I have canceled the charge through my bank and I’m waiting for the vendor to issue a call tag so I can send him his defective merchandise back.

I’m probably going to have to eat the cost of the Texoma merchandise I bought and now have no use for. This has been a rough experience for me. I would have exchanged for a different brand, but frankly, I’m scared of the seller too now.

What a bummer to get this experience from my new hobby.
On a sidenote, the seller was a nice guy and answered questions for me by email several times. I liked him and I thought we were getting along. That is until stuff started blowing up. Then he didn’t like me so much anymore.

I’m so frustrated to have to send so many things back to so many vendors all because of this one problem.

.25 or .30 cal?

I have decided to clean out the safe once again to make a purchase of a “generalized” hunting rifle. Basically something that is handy and powerful to handle what a .22LR would accomplish.

I already have a M3 .22, and a Bulldog .35, so I am considering either a .25 or a .30

Not sure on the platform yet but I like the AAA EVOL, or maybe the Brocock Ghost.

So those with the knowledge of experience please enlighten me to your recommendations for guns and caliber.

Thank you
