FX  Funny thing with this Chrono

This is my Chinese-made cheap chrono. It was working pretty well with my 300mm barrel, until I upgraded it to 500mm. I'm using an FX Dreamtact. I've tried indexing the liner, and now it can read slugs (11 grain). Pellets (10.34gr) have to be tuned down pretty low, below 650fps for it to read. As for slugs, it has no problem reading any velocity. This is a bit perplexing for me. Can anybody help me out?

Eating what you hunt and lead poisoning

Hello fellow airhunters,

(I am dutch so please go easy on my spelling and Grammar :))

It might have been discussed before, haven't found it though... I have a question about lead in the quarry that we hunt for food. For example, wood pigeons. Of course, if the goal is to eat it, you'll allways go for a headshot. But what if you hit it in the torso (heart/lung shot), is it stil safe to eat it? Clearly this depends, among other factors, if it was a pass-through and if the projectile staid in the body, how much it shattered. Of course it also depends on how frequently you eat airhunted quarry.

I am not so much looking for opinions, but more kind of knowledge-based answers. Maybe you guys can point me to some useful articles?

Many thanks for sharing your thoughts in advance and kind regards from the Netherlands.

Diana  Springer Shooting Technique

As I now have a Diana 350 magnum that for now is my favorite air rifle I need help with the Springer Shooting Technique that you use , or have mastered.
If your shooting off a rest do you hold the rifle tight to your shoulder. I'm afraid if you don't it will kick you. Do you use the Artillery hold. I looked this up , and didn't quite get it explained where I understand it. Hold it loose ok well how ? Any others thoughts , or practices , and Ideas. I'm shooting the H&N Field Target Trophy 8.4g at 15 yards ar 888 fps , and quite a few were close to where I was shooting , but could not seem to hit where I was aiming for exactly. I'm new to springers , and had the Hatsan Air Tac shooting dime size groups , but this one needs more of a technical hold. I have a cheap Birchwood Casey Fox Trot rest but the 350 fits great the scope is a Westlake 6 x 24 x 60 it's a nice scope. Just need help to learn the right way to shoot this.
Maybe pellet suggestions , or is speed to fast , and I need heavy ones to slow it down. OldVet.

RAW Rapid  Need Help - RAW Micro HM1000 - Acts like not regulated

So Ive emailed and called RAW, been waiting days for a return email or call. Kinda sucky.

I just need some ideas.
Micro, HM1000 acts like its not regulated in the sense of I can adjust the hammer spring, get two to three shots consistent then it starts to climb in velocity. Ill readjust and repeat this process over and over. Ive put new orings on the reg and cleaned up the bellville washers and same result.
Ideas on what to check?
Ill fill to 200bar and run it down to 150. Ive wasted one crap ton of pellets chasing this thing.

Cure to the illness?

I have had my first PCP less than a week and I just ordered a GX pump, tons of pellets, and already looking to upgrade my rifle. No one warned me this was hobby was so addictive and the bunny hole is deep enough to not have a bottom.

I grew up shooting a Benjamin Sheridan many years ago and was a menace to any squirrel, rabbit or bird my entire youth. Over the last 40 years, I have shot lots of rimfires, rifles, pistols and muzzleloaders but never really thought too much about pellet rifles. Until recently.

I decided to upgrade my old sheridan to something more modern and ordered the first rifle I saw on YT that had a good review- A Gamo Urban. I knew it would get my feet wet and help me decide if this is something I want to do more seriously but had no idea what kind of addiction it was unlocking. Now I'm looking at high-end shooters that I have no business buying right now. The healthiest thing for my pocket book and marriage would be if yall ban me right now!

Crosman  2300S….Wow!

While the IZH46M was laid up (fixed now) I was almost forced to become more acquainted with my 2300S.
I purchased it used and added SC grips and a super sear.
I had to replace the valve with one from Dave at Alchemy AirWerksa few months ago.
As much as I enjoy shooting the IZZY, I think the 2300S can (maybe with someone else at the helm) can hold its own any day.
I was at the range yesterday with DUCKFISH enjoying both pistols when I made that discovery.
Today, after billiards at the Senior Center, I shot the 2300S again - a full CO2 standing with 7.9 CPH At one of those AMAZON targets.
Not too shabby:

Umarex  Another Notos question?

My Notos does not shoot decent (5) shot groups at 25 yds until the air tube PSI gets down to around 2,600PSI. It then shoots (5) shot groups of around .5". Above the 2,600 PSI it throws quite a few flyers. The speed when it's above 3,000 PSI is around 740 fps. At 2,600 PSI the speed is just over 700 fps. I'm shooting the JSB 15.89 gr Hades pellet. Anyone have an idea why it does this? Thanks, 20PPC

AirMaks Arms  Airmaks Katran/BRK pathfinder - Airgun euphoria

I’ve been at this for quite a while, spent $500 on air rifles and spent $2500 on air rifles. In that time, a hand full of those rifles were amazing and checked off a bunch of boxes for me. The majority of them were just mediocre.

Being in the bird abatement business, I’ve got to have compact, light weight , packable, decent shot count , no POI shift and above all else, ACCURATE. I’ve been fortunate enough to find all of that in a few guns, but my findings show most every rifle I’ve ended up keeping , ends up with a Huma regulator installed, or me installing one myself. Second thing I’ve figured out is that the majority of rifles that passed the test, ended up with a CZ barrel. Coincidence? Maybe, but I’m going to guess not. The exception to that rule has been most anything BRK related, which I believe has always been LW.

Which leads me to the title of this thread. At the moment, everything in my stable is either AIRMAKS or BRK, and they are there because of the reasons mentioned above. These two rifles are built like absolute tanks, have almost unbelievable chrony numbers, great shot count and just all around accurate rifles.

I listed the Pathfinder for sale a week or so back and thought I’d grab one in 177 or an Airmaks in 177 for 12 to 15 FPE, but the more I thought about it, the pathfinder is made exactly for my low power needs and I just hadn’t lowered the power wheel and got to tuning. Turns out , it’s perfect. 14fpe on low power with 16gr JTS pellets is EXACTLY what I needed for occasional warehouse work. Amazingly accurate out to 50 yards ( although most warehouse work takes place inside 30) and Unbelievable SD and ES no matter where the power is set. The rifle can easily be turned back up to full power and 25 FPE with just the click of the dial. What else could a man want?

Now enter the Katran. Although not as quite as adjustable, it may be possibly the best air rifle I’ve owned in all my years of airgunning. Craftsmanship is the best I’ve seen to date. Accuracy is above par and the Huma regulator has it spitting numbers that don’t look real. Everyone is different, but for me, I’ve not found a better shouldering rifle. Probably has a lot to do with the adjustable cheek riser, but shouldering the rifle , for me, is blissful.
I’ll leave with you a few pics and and numbers, but mainly come here to share my experience with each platform. I know a lot of us chase numbers and I’ve been guilty of it myself, but if you want a rifle that does what it’s supposed to, when it’s supposed to do it , do yourself a favor and pick either of them up. Or better yet, do what I did and grab them both! On a side note, I lucked up and BOTH rifles prefer the 16gr JTS on any tune I pitched at them.

Pathfinder results at 14 FPE And Katran at 24 FPE.

FX  What causes regulator to be same pressure as the rest of the air tube?

I recently bought a used airgun and it arrived with the regulator at the same pressure as the airtube (220bar). I was told to shoot it to see if it would straighten it out (it was very loud when fired) but it didn't fix it as suspected then it went down to ~200bar but still same pressure as the rest of the air reservoir. Is the regulator damaged in any way if this happens or is it something easily fixable?

Newbie needing your help regarding Compressor choices

Hi All!
Backstory- Stroke May 22, 2025 has prevented me from using .22 cal break barrel pellet rifle. My pump up pellet pistol is a pain with one hand so exploring PCP Pistol ( Diana Bandit). I’m not sure if I am going to Go All In with PCP as a hobby/obsession once I recover but I need something reliable and easy maintenance. I live in Florida and primary use is squirrel eradicating.

Looking at GX PUMP CS3 PCP Air Compressor vs Air Venturi Rovair 4500.

Which would you purchase or do you have a better option?

Thanks for your help! 😊👍👍
