Is it political?

I have a hard time understanding why as an airgun community we can not discuss
manufacture, distribution, sales and legislation of our hobby without it being deemed political content?

Isn't it Naive to ignore this issue?
Especially as a group whose collective voices add to the understanding of the nuances and overall narrative?

Where does our power to improve legislation, like hunting rights, come from if we don't embrace the discussions surrounding existing laws and potential future rules and regulations?

Just a question - not a war.

Compressors  WTS Hill 3000 Air Compressor - LOW HOURS! $850

I've had this Hill for about a year. I love it. Works EXCELLENT. Fast. Relatively quiet compared to my other portable compressor.
But I don't need it anymore.

Comes with the remaining bottle of Silicon Oil. Crank oil is already in the compressor (see photos). Works up to 300 Bar (change from Bar to PSI if you prefer). Simple. Easy to use. Power cable is detachable for storage or transport. Never had any issues of any kind with this compressor. ONLY 4 HOURS of use!!! Only used to fill guns (tubes and some gun-mounted bottles, never a large tank).

American Air Arms  All Things EVOL - Master Thread

This thread is dedicated the the American Air Arms Evol. A while back someone posted asking for a thread like this. I thought that it seemed fitting to compile Evol threads, information, videos, photos, and questions in a single thread for easier reference. This will take some time to do. I am far from an expert on these guns. I'm just an airgunner who enjoys his Evol. My impression has been that this is a well-built and thoughtfully engineered air gun. It's not fragile or made from cheap parts. Some of the most intimidating tasks concerning these rifles (for me anyhow) were taking them apart and tuning. So I'll begin by posting videos and thread about these tasks first.

Evol Tear Down Video
This covers removing the barrel, barrel cleaning, degassing, removing the reservoir, removing the regulator, swapping AR pistol grips and buttstocks. It also discusses removing the buffer tube. There are some nice reassembly tips in here.

This video shows you how to degas your gun as well.

If you're wondering how durable this air gun is, take a look at Dana Web's Torture Test of this gun. This is a 3-part series entitled "Will They Survive" in which the Evol was subjected to extreme stress and tested against a couple of other popular air rifles for durability, accuracy, and consistency. The result is astounding.

Where is your zero?

I've noticed that for certain slingers I have the scopes zerod at a distance; others at a different distance. 😕😅 is this normal?
I feel like it is(i base the zero on either use or max range for slinger)...just wondering what you all think/do for zero.
*I have 1 zeroed at 100~
A few at 50, 40, 30....🥴🤷‍♂️

Scout - Style Setups; Thread

Did some research after a discussion a while back; decided I could try and build a scout style rifle.🤷‍♂️ seems like what airguns are technically designed for, per say..?😅
Basically, a rifle with a long eye relief scope. It should be (by definition) shorter and a...308? ...anyway.
Got me to thinking about what I had available and what I would be willing to cobble together.
I thought old school, so I grabbed the winchester.
Pistol scope?...only have 1 so I gotta use that one.
Now range for zero?🤔
They used 100yards, I went with 50.🤫🤣
I'm just getting used to this scope still. But whoa!👀
I figured I'd slap the big Buck-Rail on and then thiugh about the last time the winchester and I tangled.🤔 wicked recoil..
In comes the limb saver barrel deresonator🤪🤙
I've used then on PBS before with great results and thought...why not? For.this build; as much help as I can get, the betterrrr.
So I slapped that on and chose the muzzle end for mounting side to hopefully keep the barrel from slamming backwards so much.
I'll be a monkeys uncle if it didn't help!👀🤗
I literally have not had that much fun with the winchester since today.🥳
What a blast!
SIG box was at 30 yards
Spinners at 50
Then I held up and was able to hit my 100 yard targets with quite minimal holdover compared to most(maybe even of them all)of my other scopes*from zero at 50 to holdover on 100.
Very very impressed bc I was using "cheap" pointed pellets😅🤔
This is technically a poor man's build too🤣🤣🤣
AAANNNDDD
My only build so far to get 2 in a row hits on my 4" gong at 100(only a few of my slingers have tried this so far, but it did what it did)
Let's see what you guys have that's kind of a build like this🤗🤪🤙
All comments and such always welcome 🎩🎯

BRK Pathfinder quick update

Just wanted to let everyone know where I am with this as there are not many things out. If you had read previous posts of mine the relationship started a bit bitter. It came from AOA tuned very hot with the reg set at 165 and I was getting about 33 shots on average. The gun didn't like any of the most common pellets I was putting through it till for some reason it settled with the hn hornets.
A couple of cleanings of the barell with patchworm and a few hundred shots later the gun started liking gto non lead as well. Also I tried a bunch of slugs but unfortunately the only ones that did phenomenally with were out of production AVS 16 grains which I was down to my last 30 slugs.
Well a revisit of various pellets a couple of weeks ago and what do you know, pellets that couldn't group at 40 yards when I first got it now where shooting dime size holes. Talking about jsb hades, aa 16 grains, crossman premiers, FX 18.1 grains and others. Whatever I was putting in it was shooting it. Go figure..I don't know if it was a result of the regulator settling in or the barell needed a good cleaning but no complaints now. So a couple nights ago I decided to deal with the low shot count. Took the grip off ( there is a screw inside the hidden storage compartment), the 2 screws off from the accessory pic rail and off came the stock. Took the correct size wrench and slowly loosened the 2 gauges until air started hissing out. I then took a few shots to empty the air from the plenum and of I went to adjust the regulator. Screwed in clockwise, put stock back on, aired up and reg was showing 125. Nahh, too low for me adjusted up a bit incrementally till I brough it just shy of 145.
Then took the chrony out and started playing with the spring hammer. When all was said and done the gun was shooting crossman premier hollow points 14.3 grains at exactly 18 fpe with the port regulator adjustment one click up from minimum.
Standard deviation 2fps.
I just finished shooting a few mags. From completely full 250 bar down to 145bar I got 80 shots!!
This feels great! Not having to fill up every 3 mags. The FX 18.1grains shoot at a bit over 22FPE with the port adjustment 1 click down from max but on that setting I don't k kw how many shots I get.
Probably will update with that shot count at a later post along with some accuracy testing at 50 and 65 yards with various pellets.

Wildcat Mk3 - ol’ faithful

I’m fortunate enough to own a slew of PCPs accumulated since the 90s. My only shooting sport is biathlon, which I have participated in for >2 decades, lately with a PCP, starting unofficially with a TalonP some 8 years ago, struggling with that single loading in the cold!

I'm also a tinkerer (not in the Motörhead/Rallyshark class) and have a bit of that rooting for the underdog syndrome. I tend to post about exploits involving the new/extreme (Pantheras lately) or surprising finds (eg. 10grain Zans shooting MOA at 100y from a Leshiy Classic).

This time however, I want to pay homage to the PCP that doesn’t do anything special but just works every time and hasn’t had a problem (or a clean) for 10000 rounds. I think many of us have one. As you probably got from the title, it’s an FX Wildcat Mk3. Started life as a tubed 700mm sniper 22. Modded with a slug port, slug probe, plenum and enlarged TP and then converted to a bottle. It’s spent portions of its life as a 177 compact, a 30 cal sniper and a 30 cal compact, which is where it sits now. It’s been on many trips and has taken out a wide variety of game and pests. Its main duty is to deal with night time chicken raiders, equipped with NV. It’s even shot a rack of ribs out of the hands of a large coon at 1AM. He ran into a nearby tree trunk and seemed dazed for half a minute before taking off. I haven’t seen a coon for over half a year in my yard, so I assume he passed along a message about the food being possessed.

Anyway, here is ol faithful in its current guise, 30 cal compact, fixed 10X optisan, a Koi mod and a 400cc bottle. It’ll crank up to >100fpe with a heavy hammer shooting Zan slugs but at present it’s set to shoot the FX 44grain pellets at 70fpe. On that tune, it’s very efficient, has a sedate shot cycle and is relatively quiet. It never leaks, creeps or shifts POI even after sitting for a month and the Es is never more than single digits. When it’s not guarding chickens, I like to shoot it at 50y into duct seal just to hear the thwacks. Only downside is that the therapy ammo is pricey!

Ahhh, I feel better now that I’ve given it some credit! Feel free to pay homage to your own ol’ faithful.

Longest flattest trajectory

This is perhaps totally Field Target methodology related "or not". I really enjoy setting up different air rifles and diligently creating dope charts based on actual shots from a bench on a clear day - I always like to compare my trajectories with StrelokPro. To date the flattest trajectory I’ve found in the .177 cal is with JSB 10.34’s moving at 880 fps. I’m shooting flat in 3 different guns from 21 yards to 42 yards. The 4th gun, a TM1000 is shooting jsb13.4 heavies for comparison here. One gun, my Steyr HFT, is basically flat from 25 yards to 40 yards but had a very minimal drop out to 55 yards.
Q? What’s your longest flattest “verified” shooting gun/pellet combo? Please include the weight and brand of pellet and the speed you’re pushing it at.

HW100 moderator - **TIGHT** - how to get it off?

Hi - I have one of these --> https://www.airgunsofarizona.com/precharged-pcp/weihrauch-hw100-laminate-carbine-with-moderator/

I'd like to clean the barrel - it's pretty tight in the space where you load it so best option is to pull the barrel off of it. That's not a big deal - I figured out how to do that. For those of you who might own one of these or something similar - whats the deal with getting the moderator off?? That thing is TIGHT. I haven't been able to get it off (yet). Do I need to vice the barrel and clamp it in right tight ( use a pr. of wood blocks or something ) and then . . . . I don't know - gonna have to come up with a means of gripping that moderator REALLY firmly to see if can unscrew it.

I was able to get some patches pulled through it but I had to go bass-ackwards using a straw feeding that down through the mod and then poking ( and poking, and poking, and poking ) around until I finally found the end of the barrel. ( using a patch worm ) This was far more "difficult" and clunky than it should have been compared to my other guns - taipans and rti's . . . . plus I'd just assume feed patches from the action end. ( <-- I tried that but for the life of me could not get the patchworm weedwacker string and the end of the straw to fins one another . . . )

I'm all ears guys. ;-)

Nostalgia or practicality?

Hi, I bought this Beeman R1 about 25 years ago from a pawn shop for $200, it’s a left hand stock Laser rifle. A while later I discovered that there was a book written on the R1 so I bought the book and spoke to Tom Gaylord who explained to me that the Laser model is somewhat special.
This was my first real airgun and I was shooting it daily and though if I had a right handed stock it would probably shoot it even better.
So I searched the Yellow classified and found the stock that’s on the gun now. I paid the same amount for the stock that I did for the rifle and the seller(real nice guy) told me it’s a very sought out stock and that after I committed to buy it he told me there was a bunch of people wanting to buy it behind me.
I like the stock it feels great but lately I’ve become more nostalgic and thought perhaps I should swap stock and keep it original.
I don’t compete I just shoot across my Florida room into my bedroom exactly 14 yards.
What would you do?
