Brocock/BRK  Pathfinder XR at 40 yards…

Spotted a porker of a chuck outside my barn at 40 yards yesterday morning before work, of course.🤬😡 My Pathfinder XR zero is at 25 yards with CPHPs. The Crosmans at 846 fps generate 13 fpe at 40 yards. I want a little more oomph on that chuck. The JSBs at 788 fps for 19.4 fpe at 40 yards should do nicely. Last night just before sunset, I started sending JSBs and 2 MOA up from my zero for the CPHPs got me on target. Got up early this Saturday and did the chuck show up, of course not. But when it does again, I’ll be ready, five shots this morning bipod front, fist rear.

Brancato's Alpha Filter

My JB Bancato Alpha filter does not allow air frrom the compressor to flow through. Installed new cartridge, checked o rings and purge valve . Placed a dead head in the compressor hose and it very quickly reached 250 BAR however upon removal of the dead head and connecting the tank fill hose the filter will not register any pressures above 100 BAR and will not allow any air to frow through the filter and exit through the top to fill the air tank. Any ideas about the cause for this frustrating situation?

Always spell out your packaging expectations!

I just recently purchased an airgun from Krale and foolishly assumed I didn’t need to specify how to safely wrap an airgun.

Well, I was wrong and found out the hard way. You can learn from my mistake:

Krale did understand the concept of double boxing, but botched the rest.

1. If it’s a heavy airgun, the space between the inner and outer box should not depend on air pillows. They will burst when the gun shifts as the package is abused by whatever carrier gets their hands on it. Ask me how I know. There needs be bubble wrap or foam or anything besides those pillows which are not designed to protect heavy objects.

2. Ask them to tape all of the sides of the inner box to keep it from bursting open and dumping contents into the outer box. Be sure to ask they surround with enough bubble wrap to cushion it from a fall.

Check out the way they wrapped the inner box on my Kral. This looks like some thing I made up, but this is how they wrapped the inner box:
IMG_0723.jpeg

The gun, the pellets I ordered, and all the accessories were just loose in an outer box. There wasn’t a scratch on the air gun, so I guess I lucked out that there was only one drop or impact and not another once the items were loose.

Another trash panda down, big one this time!

Been trying to get a shot off on this guy for about a week now. Finally got the opportunity last night and took care of business. First time I've needed to send a follow up shot in awhile.

Distance was about 40yds, used my 25 caliber Maverick shooting FX 34gr at 915fps. First shot was to the head, basically right between the eyes. That anchored it as it went into the usual death dance with no movement from the front legs. I assumed it was a done deal. About a minute later I looked through the scope and noticed it was still breathing, so I immediately sent another to the top of its head. That flipped the switch for good.

I'm mad at myself for not staying on the scope the entire time to confirm the kill. I hate the pests I take out, but I don't want them to suffer. I practice a ton and take my time with my shots, always being patient for the right shot opportunity. I won't make that mistake again.

Hearing protection, what do you use?

So I go to the range at least twice a month. I normally wear hearing aids when I'm not wearing hearing protection. I use electronic hearing protection that will allow me to hear things but will also cap the loudness. I've tried several and trying a set of these axil Xcor currently in my shop. I like that they enhance sound level as I need hearing aids. But when I shut them off they don't seem to be blocking the noise the advertised 29 (maybe the min 19 ) decibels. So that's what it appears. I will have to take to range to confirm, side by side. These were very expensive for what I thought.

What do you use? I appreciate the input.

Which Sub12 Would You Buy?

I am looking for a .177 sub12 12-10FPE option I sold my dreamtac that was a laser and did great but I need a change and want to try something else. I want quality easy to work on and can be set it and forget it but to be able to up the power on the fly is a bonus. I am thinking the BRK Pathfinder but if you could only choose one what would it be I am open to options. The ranger is on the maybe list but I just like the the idea of 100+ shots.

Best Moderator for Wester Airguns Sidewinder

Don't spend your hard earned $$ on inefficient after-market moderators that don't even fit the gun. Do like me, go get a pipe insulation foam at home depot and cut into slices that fit tightly into the grooves of the baffle. I insist, you have to cut the foam larger than the groove so that they fit really tight.
And the effect is DRAMATIC! It does make the gun backyard friendly! For $5!

FX  Any Starting Numbers I Should Try for my Regulator to shoot a 21gr slug at 950fps and a 25.4gr slug at 960fps?

I have a stock standard FX Maverick and I have been shooting some JSB Knockout 25.39gr slugs at 50 yards. I want to increase the speed on them up to 940-960ish to see if I can get better accuracy out of them. They are currently shooting at 860fps.

I don't know where to start and I don't want to have to spend all day guessing on regulator numbers if someone has a suggestion.

Thank you in advance.

Benjamin  Marauder Modification Questions

I bought a .177 Marauder F&T version last year as sort of a backup/lightweight to complement my FWB P70FT. The Mrod shoots very well but that trigger is kind of ridiculous. I keep meaning to modify it but I still have a couple of questions that I can't find answers to by searching.

1. Do I need to degas the rifle before doing modifications on the trigger group?
2. Does anyone know the size (ID/OD) of the O-ring or stack of washers (ID, washer thickness and number) needed to replace the lawyer spring?

Additionally,
3. Is there some way to reduce the pull force required on the bolt but maintain the current power output?

🟢 A new perspective for BUYING GUNS.... (the next level down the AG rabbit hole! 😵)

🟢 A new perspective for BUYING GUNS.... (the next level down the AG rabbit hole! 😵)

Please, share:
❓ What is a GENERAL PRINCIPLE that guides you when you make gun purchases?

➠ My general principle has recently changed. This is what happened:

🟢 ALLROUND GUNS:
For years I have been at the stage of owning a couple of allround guns that were supposed to do it all: quiet urban pesters, long range slug shooters, and everything in between [now stop laughing at me!!😤].

🟢 SPECIALIST GUNS:
Now
, I think I'm moving to the next phase (yes, "moving to the next phase" is an euphemism to describe the disasterous "falling a couple of stories down the AG rabbit hole" — but let's just keep pretending).

This next phase was introduced by realizing that this hobby is here to stay (and will require a larger financial committment).
And now, instead of buying more allround guns — I'm trying to buy specialized guns (and scopes): Guns (and scopes) that do one thing, and do it really well. A gun/scope for each shooting scenario that I eventually encounter, like:

● Shooting scenarios:
▪ XLR — extreme long range shooting, I'd like to pop baloons at 300y across canyons and lakes in the Peruvian Andes mountains at 17.000ft.
▪ Destroyer of pests — perfect devastation at close & mid range
▪ Mass pigeon pesting 5 to 50y
▪ LRH — long range hunting: glassing & shooting
▪ Close quarters ratter

➠ This makes me look at guns and calibers and scopes that were totally outside of my view, like: .30cal, pistols, semi-automatics, red dot sights, etc.

➧ See you at the next level of the rabbit hole!! 😆

Edgun lelya

Sooo, I have a edgun Lelya, and am finding that it is a little loud on my ear, not ears. Seems like right where the loading chamber is in relation to where you lay your cheek is interesting. I would say it is horrible, but is having my wonder if I should be wearing a single earplug. I would as a chef in highly industrial kitchen, so not shy to noise. Any advise or anyone else have this problem with say the Leshiy or fX impact models?
