Finally used a hand pump.

I bought a hand pump from Amazon about a year ago, got it all together and I've never used it. Today I was target shooting with my GK1, I had filled it up with air twice and my pump was pretty hot so I was letting it cool and I decided to try the hand pump. Pretty good workout and even with taking breaks I was able to pump up my gk1 in about 10 to 15 minutes so it's pretty cool to have for an emergency.

Hatsan  looking to purchase 1st pcp gun for plinking

hello all new to the site
been doing some internet surfing and interested in getting a pcp gun
i do like the looks of the notos and the jet 2 rg

the notos looks to be good for longer range having a longer barrel
i also see more prefer regulated vs none
that is one reason id rather get a jet 2 rg vs jet 2 non reg for short range and also i like that it can be a pistol
what is your thoughts?
thanks for any info

HW/Weihrauch  HW50s Update, I Got It Figured Out!

I posted on this rifle a couple days after getting it last month. Happy with the accuracy, but I was getting two different POI. One on the bench, but after sighted in on the bench, I was hitting about 3/8 @ 4 to 5 O'clock. I spent a week trying to find with this rifle liked for a hold to shoot one POI.

Well last Tuesday I thought I had it figured out. With a firm trigger hand, pulled snug back in the shoulder, with the left hand out on the front of the forearm right where it is scalloped back on the sides of the forearm. NO MILITARY HOLD.

This is different than most of my springers like, but this rifle is different,,,, In a GOOD WAY! It not just shoots the H&N FTT @ 8.6 grains it was sighted in with on the bench @ 20 yards. But also the 7.3 grain JSB Exact RS, as well as the Air Arms 10.3 grain, all in that same minuet of Squirrel head! In the past 6 days, at random, whether shooting the fist shot or shooting 2 to 3 shots at a time, with all three of these pellets, into the same target I put up 6 days ago, this little untuned, Hw50's has amazed me.
50+ shots over 6 days Off Hand 20 yards.jpg

It doesn't look that great for just one weight or kind of pellet. But when you realize how close up this picture is, a quarter shows that for 6 consecutive days with over 50 different shots, morning, noon, or evening, even before sunup, to after sundown, I'm delighted, and think most low shots in the target is where those heavy 10.3 grain AA's were shooting. Kinda looks like two separate groups were formed, and those little 7.3 grain Exacts do shoot slightly better, but almost unmeasurably.

But after about three days it was just obvious they were in one of those holes with all three pellets. All shots standing offhand from the same spot leaning against the house to simulate use in the field leaning against a tree. I only own one other rifle that will shoot more accurate in the same scenario as this, and that is using just one pellet, not three different weights and brands.
50+ shots offhand 20 yards.jpg

With my Point of aim being the center of the square, It's sure to get some hunting time. The thing that really surprises me, is this is the lightest most compact springer I own. As well as the only untuned gun I own. Yes it a little twang I would like to get rid of, but I'm afraid to see if it would do better, just because of how it does it from these three different extremes with pellets. From approximately 850 fps, to as slow as 620 fps, I will reshoot them all and record the outcome of each for my records later this week. But this was ballpark from my memory as tested when I first brought it home.

The other thing is out to 30 yards, hitting random walnuts in the tree, with 90%+ hit ratio, it's a proven hunter. Maybe partly because it is now getting broken in. As I don't really know how many shots it had thru it when I bought it from a member here. But I think he said around 100 shots when I picked it up. Even being able to shoot same poi with its first shot every time I pick it up, makes it my highly tuned R10, my most reliable when it comes to pick em up and make that shot count no mater how long they've been unused.

But after a couple weeks, I am now so happy with this smallest, lightest, least powerful springer in my collection, I now have it's little brother on the way. Only the second one in my collection I have purchased brand new, the HW30s! I could not be happier, this gun joins the R10, HW77K and the Diana 54 that will never go anywhere! Hopefully the 30s will make it 5 that I call definite KEEPERS.

FX  Fx Drs classic 500 mm or daystatte Revere

Hi everyone
This question remains to be answered.
I like the looks of both.
Length is the same.Drs slightly more shoots per fill.
Accuracy was flawless from all the Fx's i owned and also reliability for me.
The price is also better for Drs.
But am looking at Revere for a long time now.
I don't have any experiences with Daystate but had not so pleasant one with it's sister firm Brocock.
Regards Marko

Benjamin  Silly newb question

hi folks,

I hope you all are doing well. Just ordered my first ever air gun. Excited to say the least! I grabbed the regulated version of the Benjamin Marauder.

Now I am shopping around for ammo.

A tin of slugs sounds like something fun I'd like to mess around with. On PyramidAir website, when I filter to .22 cal slugs, it shows me options like .218.

I know this is a dumb question probably, but can I use .218 slugs in a .22 rifle? it's such a negligible difference that I'd like to think it doesn't matter, but another part of my brain is scratching saying I should ask the pros first to make sure.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

EDIT:

Thank you all for your replies! I'm glad I came here to ask. I'll take your collective advice and avoid slogs for the foreseeable future, at least until I feel like gun is basically an extension of myself, and I feel like I can experiment with other playful ideas like slugs without messing up any first impressions.

I may post back here on this forum maybe later today or tomorrow, with a potential first "cart" of pellets from Pyramid, and see what you guys think.

Thanks again!

manual pumping pain group

raise your hand if you’ve felt the pain of manually pumping a gun with a tank or tube that’s +200cc from zero to 35k psi.. share what gun, up to what psi, and reason why.

i’ll go first, huben k1 up to 30bar. had to do it multiple times troubleshooting and fixing a leaking fill port and then while troubleshooting a broken sear arm. 🥹 i didn’t have a compressor then because i never needed one for my notos.. enter huben k1 🥲😅
tell me i’m not alone. please haha

  • Question
Taipan  Pellets for Taipan Vet 2 700mm

Hi everyone I just ordered a Taipan Vet 2 700mm .22 from Talon tunes and should be getting it this thursday. I’m very Very exited. There is one thing though. I am new to PCP rifles AND have only had gamo .177 rifles and mostly shot walmart crossman premieres which they shot really good IMO. i don’t know much about ballistics or anything like that(also have never used slugs). What do you guys recommend me getting? Ive read that JSB redesigned work fairly well but theres 3 options. Shallow regular and deep skirt. I will shoot the pellets anywhere from 30yds-150 and will be mainly dove hunting.. What do you guys recommend getting to test out? It would be even better if somebody with a Taipan vet 2 with same barrel length chimed in. Thanks in advance.

FX  Impact POI help!

Hi all..fairly new to the FX PCP game (had a Maurader for 20 years before I realized this world of amazing PCP's existed. I picked up a lightly used.25 maverick and .357 Impact M3 a few weeks ago. Provenance on the Maverick is perfect. super tuned to shoot JSB's thru one hole, every single shot. It's perfection.

The m3 I'm struggling with a bit. specs. 800mm barrel, supertwist barrel. Donny Emperor. Running 175/140 reg. 4.5 lines on the bottle valve. 14 macro, 4.2 micro. FX Hybrids. Element Helix 4-16-44

Gun always takes a shot or two to settle once I fill it (240/45 bottle reg) but after a couple adjustments, it shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards. totally acceptable. Chrono 940-950. Once im zero'd I usually go for a walk around our barn property and pop a few ground squirrels...I know, the 357 is overkill, but damn does it hit hard. 120-140 yards with a 8-12 MOA holdover no problem.

The issue happens when I come back to the bench and put a few last shots on paper. maybe the bottle pressure is down into 200 or so (after 10-12 shots) but never close to reg 1. (175). I'll start shooting at paper and my POI will have shifted wildly up to 2-2.5" to the left or right. never consistent one way or the other, but the last three outings it happened every time. I'm not jostling the gun hard on walks, setting it down soft so I don't think its a physical handling thing.

Looking to eliminate variables that might be the culprit. My first to thoughts are the scope and maybe the enormous Donny emperor. I have an old vortex I can run on the Impact and see if its a scope issue, and I can shoot the rilfe sans moderator to see if its a clipping issue (although I dont see why I would shoot tight groups, and then the groups would move left or right but remain tight if clipping was the issue). Regardless, I did just order a new moderator from donny (Ronin becuase they reccomended it for that gun AND its half the length).

Does anyone have any other thoughts to what might be happening here? I dont think its reg pressures, hammer, etc. That long ass barrel seems to flex pretty hard during shots with the heavy moderator on it and its not an upgraded barrel either. would getting a stiffer barrel help the cause? I just cant understand why I would be shooting tight groups and the POI would move suddenly but groups remain tight.

Help! Thanks in advance

Moisture in tanks

I am new to all this, I keep seeing stuff about moisture getting into scuba tanks and gun tanks. im not worried about moisture yet, I’ve filled the gun twice. I got the cheap filter comes with shoe box compressor. I fill or run compressor in driest air I can find. There is a simple way to remove moisture from high pressure tanks and systems. Pull a vacuum on the tanks and hold it for a short amount of time. So I must be missing something, something about being able to pull a vacuum on these specific type of tanks must be difficult? Maybe something with the valves? Does anybody know? A vacuum pump capable of pulling and maintaining a vacuum are pretty cheap. Easy to get. So I got to be missing something . Edit; maybe I should mention , this happens anytime you get your cars AC system serviced. Refrigerant is dumped and a vacuum is pulled and held around 30 or 40 minutes. All moisture quickly evaporates under vacuum and vac pump pumps it out. I have done this process many times and I could probably adapt the equipment I would use to do it and make it pull a vacuum on anything with threaded fittings.

i got him this time at 80yrds !!

ok, rewind back a few days ago when the thread was created about "who shot there .177 today",
from the pcp airgun section.....
well, i posted i missed with my HW100 @80 yrds....but i didnt mention i hit the pine comb he was eating and knocked it out of his hands & mouth!! and he high tailed it !!
about 30min ago, i was in the barn servicing the tractor and heard the cardinals screaming.....so i grabbed my barn gun.
the ataman .22 topped with 14.3 cpd's.....its all over now :sneaky:

Those are the choices and, I like all three. However, I have a leaning towards one, but want to see how the community aligns or not with my choice. I would really like to briefly know why one was picked over the others. My first poll and 7 days seems plenty long. Thanks for casting a vote and or a comment. PM's welcomed too.
