Brocock/BRK  My experience with first PCP

I took months to research all the options. My initial thoughts were there was no way I would spend more than a few hundred dollars on an airgun, no matter if it's a PCP or a springer. As I read more and more, the motto buy once cry once became more evident. I narrowed down my choices and ultimately decided on the Brocock Sahara XR. A few reasons for my decision: excellent shot count, excellent reputation of a no fuss PCP, excellent deal at AOA, external regulator adjustment, power wheel adjustment, picatinny rails for scope and bipod included, excellent barrel, and lastly, a unique color :).

I also researched moderators and landed on an STO Sarissa. Not knowing what to expect from this combination, I mounted the scope, screwed on the moderator and proceeded to get a rudimentary zero. AOA sent the Sahara with a little under 240 bar, which was nice so I could play around with it.

Being worried about the first shot POI due to being in my backyard, I decided to zero at 15 yards into a huge box with a bag of soil as a backstop. I used the JBS 18.13gr as this was what AOA used to test the rifle. First shot low, but on the box. Using the hole as my new POA, I shot 5 more.

OK, that's awesome. Now to try 10 shots at 30 yards.

This thing is a sweet shooter! Next order of business was to try different pellets and get some chronograph data.

After realizing how sweet of an airgun this is and wondering why I hadn't got into this way sooner, I shot more groups and did one dot drill.

I decided to try the JTS 18.1 gr again bc they gave me the best results when testing a few different pellets.

Unbelievable!

I realize this is only 30 yards, but I do plan on testing at 50 and 100 soon.
I've only had this thing for a week, but man PCPs are fun! My recommendation for anyone who is wanting to get into this is to do your research and don't let the fact that it's "just an airgun" keep you from buying quality. These things are so much more fun bc you can get trigger time in your backyard and they're super accurate. A big thank you to the people of this forum and others with the wealth of knowledge that is shared.

Pellet Sorting results (Again)

I was killing time in my basement and found an almost empty tin of AA 10.3 gr pellets. I started shooting them at 10M with my AA HFT 500 and every once in a while got a flyer. So, out came my scale and I started weighing. I weighed about 15 of them and most were etween 10.1-10.3. BUT, one was 10.6 and one 10.7. So I shot 5 of the 10.3 and as you can see, they all went in the same hole. I took the 10.7 and aimed at the same spot and voila, a flyer, big time. Just to prove again that sorting pellets, at least by weight is a good thing.

How much water is ok

I've ordered .25 dynamic 700 and plan on using a portable 12v compressor surely the better ones have acceptable built in water striping, I dont see the point in buying a purpose built tool and having to spend heaps more customising it . My questions are does anyone know if the dynamic block and internals are made from all stainless and alloys that are non corrosive , if so then how much problem is some moisture in the air as from what I see no filters remove 100% anyway ? Also has anyone had problems with this set up directly attributed to water?

New guy from the Colorado Front Range

Hello. New to the forum. I've been a firearms shooter most of my life. I had bb guns as a kid and only recently discovered the advances in air gun technology so I decided to jump in. I like the relative low cost of the guns but more importantly, the ammo.
My air rifles:
Craigslist find Ruger Umarex Airhawk Elite II .177. It wasn't taken care of very well but it was cheap and shoots straight at 25y.
Gamo Swarm Whisper 10X .22 w/ 4x32 Gamo "optic".
I like the idea of small game hunting (rabbits and birds) without the attention getting BANG! and .50 cents to a dollar per shot of my long guns if SHTF.
Looking for people close by to join forces.

Thanks,

Pavelow

PCP Rifle  SOLD WTS FX Dreamline Tactical with .22 & .30 barrels

I am selling this FX Dreamline for my good friend and hunting buddy. He is a member here but is not very active. This is the Dreamline Tactical. It has barrels for both .30 and .22 calibers. Also has probes and a magazine for both calibers. The rifle has a power plenum installed. The moderator is for .22 caliber and is the basic can that came with FX air rifles. The air tank is the aluminum style. I believe it is approximately 500cc. Also comes with the original box and a tin of .30 44gr pellets. I have shot this rifle and it shoots great. It's the only .30 I have ever shot and I have been very impressed with the precision. The .22 barrel also has the great accuracy that you'd expect from an FX. My friend bought the rifle from our own classifieds a few years back so it has had two owners but it is in good shape. I am not sure of the best price to ask since it comes with the extra barrel set up. I am going to start by asking $850 shipped to CONUS only. Please feel free to make REASONABLE offers. Payment may be by Paypal or US Postal Money Order. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I left out any important info. Thanks for looking,
Kenny

FX  Well, I did it. New DRS Walnut

About a week ago I have finally had enough of the pesky squirrels scampering around my yard. Can't blame them, as I have 9 pecan trees, but I have warned them too many times. So, I grabbed up my FX Streamline, (which I have let sit for way too long) and sent 3 of them to squirrel heaven in less than 5 minutes. Got another later in the afternoon. One thing I didn't like about my Streamline, was the flex in the barrel. During my searching for a barrel band, I came across the New FX DRS rifles. I was instantly drawn to them. So, over the last couple days I gave been on a quest to find out as much as I could about the DRS. I just couldn't decide between a 22 or the 177. I ended up going with a 177 in Walnut, as I have a bunch of JSB Heavies and also a bunch of other brands of 177 pellets I had bought when I first got my Streamline. Also, most, if not all of my shooting will be less than 20 yards. I have a barrel band coming for my Streamline, but the DRS looks much better, in my opinion, and it will be a few inches shorter. Now the wait begins on it to get here.

Pssst....hey, I just shot a 750. Haha

Pssst...That's kind of the noise this makes with the suppressor. 91 fpe 22 cal slug gun. 750 47x

You can see how much the poi went down when I added the suppressor in the bottom sighter on first card.

The gun will shoot another 8-10x without it ...but for those that want to shoot in the backyard it still does pretty well.

Wind was 3-10.

Mike

FX  FX DRS with low velocity first shot! What should I check?

My DRS is experiencing a low velocity first shot after it sits awhile. Any idea what could be causing this? I have already replaced the AMP Regulator because it was much worse, the first 3-4 shots were considerably lower than the rest after sitting awhile. It's just the first shot now, but for testing this is unacceptable because I don't always have the luxury of blowing off one shot and then go for a kill shot. Here is the result of a 5 shot string after it sat overnight:

FX Hybrid .22 22.0gr

Shot count: 5

Low: 761 FPS
Hi: 830 FPS
Avg: 815 FPS
Spread: 69 FPS
STD Dev: 26.8 FPS

1 - 761,FPS,28.3,FT Lbs,
2 - 828,FPS,33.5,FT Lbs,
3 - 826,FPS,33.3,FT Lbs,
4 - 830,FPS,33.7,FT Lbs,
5 - 828,FPS,33.5,FT Lbs,

Since only the first shot is 67 FPS less than the rest, I'm wondering if it might be the valve leaking off a small amount of air after it sits a while. Any thoughts on what I should be checking?

Evanix  No Love for Evanix on AGN?

So occasionally Evanix air gun show up in the classifieds and at times members join and ask advice about an Evanix airgun. I realize that Evanix is a GTA sponsor, but what’s your take on the brand? Why don’t AGN members discuss these rifles more? The most outspoken member I’ve heard talk up the brand and their extensive experience with it is @Nomadic Pirate 66. I’ve seen a member that does reviews cover a few Evanix air rifles, but I see very few members discussing these rifles.

If you own one, let’s hear about your experience with it. I see these as hunting rifles, at least the ones I’ve looked up. Anyone competing with one? Plinking? Pesting? How about posting a few pics of what you have to accompany telling us about your experience with the brand?

Huben  Huben GK1 Rear Picatinny Adapter - COMPLETE redesign and CNC'd!

Went back and forth on just having our original pat pend adapter design milled but wanted to solve for some common inconveniences when paired with minimalist stocks. Took this opportunity to completely refresh the entire rear picatinny adapter concept from what previously exists.

This adds about 1 1/4" LOP vs current adapter offerings, so for the typical length minimalist stock, makes the stock'd up GK1 more ergonomic to shoulder. The CNC Rear Picatinny Adapter has 3 picatinny slots and adds additional drop to the stock alignment. This results in an even more comfortable cheek weld with low mounted optics and you aren't forced to use obnoxiously high mounted optics. Lastly, plenty of room for hand clearance while the stock is extended and used in collapsed form as well.

100% designed and manufactured in the 🇺🇲!

Sheridan  Decided to go old school

I've been getting frustrated lately with some issues I've been having with some of my pcps so I decided to get out my 1961 vintage Sheridan Blue Streak. Holy crap!! I was shooting 13.73 JSBs and getting 5 shot groups at 20 yards that were 1 slightly ragged hole! At 10 yards 5 shots were 1 neat hole group that you would swear was a single shot. I can't get groups like that with my pcps! I was using a fairly inexpensive red dot sight and shooting from a bench. I have several old Blue Streaks from 1960 to 1977 and the accuracy of them never ceases to amaze me. Those old Sheridans are examples of quality craftsmanship from a time when such things mattered.

Why Such Explosive Damage?

The title says it all!

For the life of me, I just don't understand what I'm witnessing in the least! Now I know I'm sending a bit of power down range (100fpe) compared to many airguns, but I've never seen prey displaced at right angles of the projectile flight path. These .30cal H&N SLUG IIs are really something to behold!

As far as the young Starling that got slung completely out of frame, I didn't see that in the least in real time, and when I saw two starlings down when I walked down range, I thought it might have got in a fight with a squirrel or something!

So what gives?

Steyr  Steyr Pro X Version 2024 . looking for an advice

Hey Airgunners,
my name is Martin, I am from Rostock at the baltic sea. In german speaking forums the Steyr ProX is not a big thing. I hope I will get more input from your forum.
Well, I have bought my Steyr just e few weeks ago. It´s a beautiful "toy" I think. The shaft is made of a wonderful piece of walnut and I have a lot of fun with my Luftgewehr.
My setup: Steyr Pro X .177mm, Element Titan 3-18x50 FFP APR-2D MRAD scope, Donny FL Sumo Silencer.
I´d like to get some advices how to make my gun better now. At first: Steyr made a "downgrade" in 2024 that was not told or shown on pictures. The Schaftkappe (...wait a minute...need Google translator... butt plate?!? I hope you´ll understand, but take a look at the pictures and you´ll see) is no longer adjustable. It seems to be glued. No screws, neither from the outside nor the inside of the shaft. I am not happy with it. I really want to change the "butt plate" to a modifyable one. Do you have any ideas?
Regards
Martin

New CPHP 177 warning

I was testing a rifle with a chronograph and tried these pellets since they are cheap. I got some crazy numbers. I then verified with my M853 and it happened with that rifle. I’m not buying any more of these Brazilian CPHP’s in 177.

I did a brief test with the 22 CPHP and they performed fine
