PCP Rifle  FOUND Getting Back Into The Hobby!

Hi All!

Have been working abroad the past couple years and am back in the states and VERY much looking to get back into the hobby!

I donated my collection to a Veterans shooting group I supported before I left so starting from scratch so a lot of holes to fill!

Starting with air rifles so hoping to be able to source the following:

FX Crown 600-700mm .22 or .30
FX Impact MK2 or M3 .22 or .30 (700mm)
FX Boss
Daystate Electronic Guns (Red Wolf, Alpha Wolf, Delta Wolf or older models) .22 or .25
AGT Uragan/Vulcan .22 or .30
RTI Prophet (1,2 or3) .22
RAW open to caliber and would LOVE an Alan Z. tuned/shrouded model but not a deal breaker.
Kalibr Cricket Tactical .30
Original Kalibr Cricket .25
Edgun R5M .25 or Super Long .30

Also LOVE one off or custom airguns so don’t hesitate to reach out with others that maybe worth a look!

Just a quick note, I only pay via PayPal and please don’t take offense if I am a bit more hesitant etc. if you have no or low feedback!

Thanks all and very much looking forward to reconnecting with the AGN community!

Be Safe,
Dr. Mike Long

Huben  First impressions of Huben GK1 .25 Shorty

I got my GK1 .25 Shorty from Kelly at Kraz Cool today! We had communications on possible variations, and he was so patient working with me - thank you Kelly for getting me exactly what I wanted!

Here is shot data as I got it- no tuning - just out of the box. 33 pretty flat shots from 31 amps to 11 amps with one empty shot in the middle (thus losing some air)

[Update, pellet was JSB Exact King Diablo 25.39 grain and changed bar to MPa]

Here is what it looks like compared to my full-size GK1 .25. It was 2 inches shorter and it handled great.

FX  FX POI Shift : SOLVED ?

FX Maverick Compact 30 cal
Regs 160/145
Power Wheel 6

The attached pictures were 859 fps AEA 45 gr pellets @ 40 yds, 5 shot groups. When I speak of POI shift, I'm not talking about shots being randomly scattered. I'm speaking about these groups as a whole shifting randomly and needing to rezero for this (see pics). In my case, my gun came shooting 840 fps and every once in awhile I would need to adjust the scope a couple of clicks and it was good for awhile. To be honest, I thought it was the cheap scope I had. Once I got a chrono, I started adjusting reg pressures for faster fps. After increasing speeds I needed to rezero much more often, just about every day. I replaced the scope, same issues. Then I started looking into this further and discovered other people were having the same problem. I pulled my barrel liner and it had 2 orings. I ordered additional orings from Utah Airguns and the cf sleeve. I put the cf sleeve on and lost my tight groups. I did not epoxy it, and it felt a little loose, not a tight play free fit. At that point I wasn't ready to glue my liner in, so I went back to the orings. I ended up using 10 orings evenly spaced with a double in the middle, using Teflon tape beside them to help keep them in place. Same result, good for a couple days and then off 1/2". I couldn't find a solution on the internet so I decided i needed to rethink this. Something has to be moving, but what.

Here's my theory I came up with. In a perfect world a perfectly straight barrel would be ideal. In this system the liner is between the jamb nut and the block. When tightening that jamb nut, if the distance between where the liner touches it and the block is less than the length of the liner by even a mm the liner has to arc. Under tension with an arc in it is force that could cause it to rotate slightly, or arc in the opposite direction. Either of these would change the poi. My jamb nut was fairly snug but not too tight. I loosened it to what I would describe as 1/4 snug. Finger tight then just barely tightened with a wrench.

It's only been a week now but it is shooting like a laser and I have had no need to rezero. I think the 10 orings is probably overkill, but i would use at least 3 or 4. I also think the cf liner may work if epoxied. I hope this helps someone, i know i spent countless hours trying to figure it out.

Full disclosure, I am not a certified technician, just a hillbilly striving for perfection.

Buying from a new member

Anyway I guess I have WTB listing in the classified section and then one of the members on here contacted me telling they have what I am looking for. So any we proceeding in contacting each other and so forth and he gave me his price and I agreed but when it came to the form of payment I wanted to use PayPal goods and services cause I am not willing to just send money to a complete stranger than has next to no history on here and hasn't been on airgun nation for even a month. The seller refused using all sorts of excuses which just raised red flags so in the end I just said if it's not through PayPal goods and services I have no interest and I haven't been contacted again since. Did I do it wrong or overreacted? Just curious on how you people deal with purchasing from a somewhat new member with almost no background so that your covered if you're scammed.

self chrono check during a match?

I was reading the WFTF and AAFTA rules regarding chronograph use. It states that you need to chrono your rifle during training/sight-in day and daily chrono during the match.

What happens if you suspect a gun failure during the match and you want to chrono your rifle but you are nowhere near the official chrono station?

For example You have missed the last 4 (easy) targets. Are you allowed to use your own chrono when it's your turn to shoot? and does that count as part of your total time on that lane?

I know some of the PCP have built in chrono. and it would be as easy as looking at the LCD screen to get your velocity. But what happens if you are shooting a springer?

Filling an outdated carbon fiber/aluminum SCBA bottle

At the risk of subjecting myself to some scolding for even considering such a thing, I have a 18 year old AIr Hog 68 cu ft bottle that I am reticent to throw out just because it is outdated. The carbon fiber on the outside is pristine, no dents or cuts. Endoscopic examination of the bottle's aluminum interior shows shiny aluminum with no corrosion or pits. Obviously, I have no idea if there is galvanic corrosion at the interface between the inner aluminum bottle and the carbon fiber wrap. The SCUBA or "safety store" will not even look at it because it is out of date. They would be happy to sell me a new replacement.

Would you use it and enjoy it or toss it and replace it?

Mike

Please welcome ThorMolds to our list of fine sponsors + HUGE giveaway!!!

Please join us in giving Thor Molds Inc a warm welcome!

Thor Molds Inc. is a company registered in the United States, with our production and shipping locations in China. Before registering the company, we had been operating on Facebook for 5 years. In these 5 years, we realized that we must have a registered company and website in order to better serve our customers. Our company mainly deals in stamping molds, we do not produce casting molds. There is a big difference between the two. Stamping molds have high hardness, and if used properly, they can be used for a lifetime. Lead is placed inside and then stamped into pellets using a stamping machine. High molding accuracy, without damaging the mold.

The dimensional tolerance of pellets produced by stamping molds reached+0.01MM, with very high consistency and accurate shooting

We also accept special customized orders from customers, but we do not accept orders that change the quantity of particles or bullet holes. We are a small processing factory, that accepts orders from all over the world (as long as your country has logistics services).

To thank Airgun Nation and all of its members we would like to giveaway 3 of our products:

(1) Press slug of any caliber (please refer to the website for details about caliber)

(1) 20 holes .30-45GR.

(1) 6 holes mini semi-automatic pellets mold

Other  Moderators and Accuracy?

I don't have any PCP moderators, really don't need them where I live, and my Taipan Veteran Compact, I feel is quiet enough (though even quieter may help for my hunting). I am curious as to whether adding a moderator on your PCP's has resulted in an increase in accuracy, or Not?

I've got three different suppressors for my .22 rimfire rifles. I've shot them with and without, there is no consistent clear advantage/disadvantage accuracy wise. Some guns/loads may shoot a barely measurable bit better or worse, no one gun or suppressor makes a significant improvement. Overall I would say they tend to shoot a little better suppressed... and I assume this is probably due to the weight of the suppressor affecting the barrel harmonics. Just to be clear there is a definite change in point of impact due to the suppressor weight (mine run 5, 8 & 9 ounces)... a larger change in POI on lighter barrels (of course).

But I wonder about PCP's... Since we're talking about a blast of air coming out the barrel, a much lighter projectile, and it seems the pellet skirt may be more susceptible to any air turbulence than a solid base.

So, those that have added a moderator on their PCP's, have you had a noticeable increase in accuracy? Or Not

Thanks,

Jerry

FX  Panthera ,? Has anyone had this issue?

I have panthera. 700 with 600mm barrel. At 150bar my fps drop Like hammer is not opening the valve. I have 26 gram hammer, and blue tuning spring. I tried 20gram hammer with oem spring, and tried 13 gram hammer. At 150 bar my gun shoots 60gr atp slugs 888,but if I try to go up on reg it slows down. Spring tension maxed. Why will my valve not open past 150 bar? Done exact same with all weights and springs ,past 150 for some reason fps drop like 100fps,but as tank pressures decrease the fps raise up 5 to 7 fps a shot, any ideas or if you know why please let me know. The slugs um shooting seem to shoot better faster. The 49.5 gr atp slugs cut a hole at 100 yards at 974 fps. Also my first shot seem slow most time after sitting a while.

Nosey Neighbors?

I had some lumber lying around from other projects and built a “Stealthy “ Target stand. “Box actually”. It blocks visibility of the target from the sides. The target is just a piece of cardboard and can be dressed up however you want. Pizza boxes came to mind when I built it. They slip right into place and it is very easy to switch the cardboard. One actually has to come into My yard to see what it is. What other ways of disguising a target do you use? Here are a couple pics.
There is nothing in the back of it, only a piece of cardboard. I can use pieces of cardboard up to 20 inches wide. This one is 30 inches deep. 🫸🏼Just thought I would share.🤫

Servus from Austria

Hello everyone👋😃

I've been reading for a while and have learned a lot from you. So, I'm writing to you from beautiful Austria, and like most people here, I come from the firearms sector. Unfortunately, reloading in Europe has pretty much hit the wall. People just avoid things instead of buying the products of their choice. So last year, while on vacation, the virus got the better of me and I bought a Diana 54 Airking Pro in .177. I was amazed at the accuracy at 50m. The vacation was over, but the virus remained. I tried an FX Wildcat MK 3. But without a bottle. The sniper version with the tube reservoir. Well, I didn't shoot with it for long, but I fell in love with the package, and I bought an Agt Uragan 2😄, which made life difficult for me with its leaks. Luckily, I had a Hills compressor by now. 🤓 To cope with the frustration, I had to get an FX Maverik in .22. The tuning measures took what felt like weeks, if not months. It put up with everything. No air loss like with the Uragan 2. Nothing. And I wouldn't have held it against him given the procedure. I probably won't be able to get rid of the virus anytime soon😁

Jefferson State Air Rifles any good ?

Hi, i am new in this forum. I am not en expert when it comes to Airguns. Had some AIR rifles in the past (Evanix sniper cal 35, AEA Terminator cal 35, Hatsan bullbos 25) but sold whole collection some years ago due to financial issues. I now have the change to pick-up my old hobby again and would like to buy a good quality and powerful AIR rifle.
I live in Europe and by coincidence come across a brand i had never heard of.. Jefferson State Air Rifles. I could find only 1 single dealer selling these in the whole of Europe.
So i am wondering if anybody has experience whith this brand ? I am tempted to buy the Raptor in cal 30 or 35.
Is anybody able to give me advise to go for it or not ? My other choice is FX Dynamic but the latter is a whole lot more expensive....
