Getting out of valve lock ?

On my Vulcan 3

So i wanted to see if i could push the 13 grain slugs just a little faster than the 1020 FPS i was on from my last session, but as chance would have it that was right on the max hammer spring setting and also the MAX pressure ( ??? BAR )
But today upping the regulator only dropped my FPS to 950, and i think that mean i am valve locked.

So what are a guy to do here ? My own peashooter mind say a couple of things.

1. Get a heavier hammer spring
2. Get a heavier hammer weight

Problem i have never seen any of those options for a AGT Vulcan ( 1-2-3 ) though i must of course also admit that i have never looked for that.

I figure even if the barrel are just 500 mm faster speeds should be attainable.

The Vulcan 3 seem to have a narrow power band, with 0 compression on the 32 mm long hammer spring, to max compression ( 1/2 turn before i am not able to cock the rifle )
And seemingly with the max pressure the fastest i can get with the 13 grainers are just over 1000 FPS.

Maybe i should look closer at the slower speeds i have tried too of course, just it seem the gum are more accurate the faster i shoot, but at the 1020 FPS i was on the shot string was a bit saw tooth like, hence why i upped the reg a little today, and BECUZ in my Maverick the same slugs do really well at 1060 FPS

Also i am inclined to think the same rifle in larger calibers, well i assume those have a heavier hammer spring and maybe a heavier hammer weight, and maybe valve return spring too + of course more REG pressure then the 90 i assume the .177 Vulcan 3 shipped with too.
For sure not with the internals that are in my Vulcan 3

How much is a impact mk2 worth nowadays?

This isn't a classified post. Not selling anything. Was just wondering what the price going for the impact mk2 nowadays. I've seen folks listing them as low as $1400-1500. Thats just the list price but are ppl still l buying them for that amount? Or would someone have to list as low as 1000 to get a buyer? Just wanna know so I can decide if its worth selling the mk2 and paying extra money to get the m3. Or just stick with the mk2.

Miami Beach Iguana Removal Budget Quadrupled to $200k

The City of Miami Beach Commission quadrupled their iguana removal budget from $50k to $200k. The City of Miami Beach is even looking into putting a bounty on them; they're apparently forming an ad hoc group that'll be taking bids. (This isn't for all of Miami - never mind the state)
YouTube: Miami Beach officials coming up with ideas to get rid of invasive iguanas
I've heard of private contractors charging ≈$50 per taken iguana; not sure if that is accurate.

Cricket or Impact ?

I am relatively new to the PCP world but beein hunting all my life . I started with the FX brand , first with a .25 Impact Power Plenum , then added a Crown wich I disliked very much , sold it , and added a new Impact MK2 in .22 cal..
I use them just for hunting pigeons picazuro down here in Brazil with my labrador, I don´t shoot more that 50/70 meters ..probably I set my blinds mostly at 40 mts because I want my birds stone dead and I dont feel the challenge of shooting far and cripple birds.
Now I am on my 4th year of PCP hunting and I have to say that these gun are incredible !! WHEN THEY ARE OK !! and they are not always ok always having experienced every sort of minor/major issues frequently .
Beeing a shotgun guy I know that you cannot compare a decent shotgun even with a top PCP but I am getting fed up also because down here in BRazil , services for PCP are very difficult.
Considering that I will not use slugs because I dont need them , my hunting beeing under 70mts what would be your opinion about the Kalibrun Cricket 2 Tactical in either .25 or .22 , I was told that is a reliable solid gun , non floating ,non liner type barrel , not that many knobs and frills , just plain hunting gun ?

Cheap (under $1000) air rifle + night vision setup

So, I bought a Hatsan Vectis for $249 (refurbished direct from Hatsan) and combined it with a Sightmark Ultrashot R-Spec red dot which is around $100, and the Armasight Core Spark that I've had laying around since I got my nice PVS-14's. ($500 or so), and a Donny FL silencer for another $100 or so, and an IR illuminator (I cheated and used a $500 surefire vampire light, because I already have them, and I didn't want to buy a cheap light to fit the budget, but you can get a decent one for $50 or so if you look) - then assembled the whole kit into a working package. The worse part was needing to shave the top of the picatinny rail down in the rear of the Vectis, in order to be able to mount the NV far enough back to clear and be at a reasonable distance from my eye. I just used a chisel and then cleaned it up with a file and sandpaper. Also did have to chop off the muzzle brake to get to the barrel to attach the DonnyFL.

Overall? I'm pretty happy with the result - this will make a really fun & quiet night time hunting gun that's cheap enough to simply not need to worry about loaning it out as a 'buddy' gun when I'm using my nicer gear, but still nice enough they won't feel left out or cheated.

Please forgive the terrible shooting, doing this in darkness, holding my cell phone up to the NVG eyepeice, and trying to aim/fire using that as the view, well.. LOL, it's a little challenging. :)

If I was to recommend an upgrade, it'd definately be the red dot. - the M-Spec is a big upgrade

NLA beautiful Diana 350 .22 magnum wood stock

Too much gun for #backyardplinking. I don't hunt, which is really what it's made for, so it's gathering dust.
Time for me to find it a home where it'll get the love it deserves. Excellent T06 trigger.

Near-mint condition, never went beyond my back yard. The front stock screws fell out, so I replaced those. Holds.
Sights not installed as I planned on scoping the rifle, but they're included. No easily visible mars.

If reading this, you probably already know what you're getting, but here's some more info:

Any interest in custom leather ?

New to the site and looking to up my post count ultimately. But I do some decent leatherwork and was wondering if there would be any interest in custom leather rifle slings ? Tooled etc.
Also, I’m a mold builder by trade. Haven’t considered until recently the fact I can fairly easily design and build molds for pouring at home. Thanks for reading and helping me get my posts up lol. 🍻

Uragan 2

Does anyone have experience with the URAGAN 2? Their spec sheet states that the wood stock version weighs 7.5 lbs. Although the weight of the carbon fiber stock version is not listed, logic would dictate that it should weigh no more than 6.5 lbs or less so I ordered one just for that reason (I am 86 years old so I don’t do guns much over 6 lbs…un-scoped. When it arrived, it tipped my postal scale at a hair under 8 lbs!!!?? I returned it (at my expense) and am waiting to see if the seller charges me a restocking fee.
BTW, I had a lengthy discussion with the dealer befor ordering. He had just gotten them in and didn’t know any details other than what was shown on the manufacturer’s spec sheet but agreed that it should weigh about 6.5 lbs.

Absolutely ZERO blood.

Spent some real quality time yesterday getting the guns, one a Maverick Sniper, one a Maverick VP both .25 , tuned, and THAT is going to be a real WTH story for later. Any way it was suppose to rain here in CA and low and behold it did, along with wind, but hey might get lucky with the ground critters. Got there about 0930 and...the little pluckers were in their holes, by the stove, in their recliners, watching their flat panels. Nary a one popped its head out. Well never let a learning situation go to waste so, picked a small squirrel size rock about 45 yards away, wind let up for a moment and....whoopie hit it. Picked another rock a touch further out directly into the wind, took a shot and was low, gee I wonder why..rhetorical question eye ball adjusted up 4.5mil and whoopee hit it. Time for some BIG game...a beer bottle on it's side. First shot, OWTH I hit it, now the wind is coming at 90º so to finish off the kill it took 3 more shots but I can add it to my mantle. Now the tuning thing, I'm going to post it in the PCP forum, let's just say that it throws all of the rules straight out the window.

FX Maverick Tuning...SORT OF

Ok I admit I love messing with things that work fine. I've done a wee bit of research on tuning the Maverick, never could find the starting point for the hammer spring adjuster. Using JSB Match Diabolo Exact King .25 Cal, 25.39 Grains, So I made up something to start, on my VP .25 600mm barrel, tried 6mm, got that from Moose, who got it from FX??, used Steve's, suggestion for the front regulator of 120#. Set the rear to 78# and omg it was of the charts HOT, adjusted the HSR down and down and down, to a measured 4.28mm, final speed was 937 and a SD of 2.8 and TIGHT groups at 25 yards, like single hole tight, maybe I should use a rest next time?
HSA 4.28mm
120# Front
78#. Rear

Ok, time to rinse and repeat with my Maverick Sniper, I was going to use it for heavier pellets but....had a close to major disaster as in OMG did I FU the gun type. Got two slugs jammed, pulled the barrel got the jam cleared, got the mag out and....went to cock it...oh oh NOTHING. Ok hitting head on table isn't working so, let's try degassing it and hope. WHEW that did the trick. So....
135# Front Reg.
100# Rear Reg.
HSA 4.5mm. #7. 937fps. 50LB#

Now, please note the LONGER barrel with higher pressure and essentially the same HSA is the same darn speed, same SD, with the same absolutely awesome results.

As a note, on the HSA, and this is important, there are 4 components to the HSA, the body, the adjusting screw, a very tiny plastic spacer and the set screw on the side. That setscrew MUST be snug. I'm almost considering using some Loctite blue on it, just so I can get a nice firm feel on the adjuster and NOT have the set screw back out.

Oh that little ball bearing you just dropped and have spent 2 hours looking for. 3mm at Amazon. Buy a bunch, like 20. I'm just covering my bets on those little suckers.

Trash panda down

Last night I was wrapping up the edit of my short house sparrow video and the wife was sitting on the deck the time was about midnight. My phone started ringing but it was my wife. I thought this is either a funny situation or a very serious one. I answer the phone and she says she thinks a coon is in the apple tree. Immediately I am thinking which pcp do I grab. The .22 impact or one of the crowns in .25 and .30.

The impact has a 15-60 vortex golden eagle scope on it. Not the best for 30 yd night shooting. The .25 crown mk2 has a 5-25 venom and the 380mm barrel installed so I grabbed it and a light. We could see the eyes in the tree and it was definitely a masked bandit. I couldnt get a clean shot from branches and head movement so all I could do is keep moving and trying to get a good angle. Finally the coon crawled down to the lowest crotch and jumped down and ran. It looked like I was gonna miss a shot opportunity when the coon stopped turned to face me and stood up looking back. That was just enough time to get a shot off.

High end .30 caliber PELLET rifles?

I really need to ad a .30 caliber PELLET rifle to my line up , I have no interest in playing the slug game , looking for something to generate 75 plus fpe.

What are your suggestions? What have you shot? What .30 do you own?

Not into looking at any daystate or fx rifles.

The evol .30 is one I've always looked at and wanted but it's big $$ (not opposed to spending if worth it), the raw chassis rifles in .30 was another... also the prophet 2 recently caught my eye

Anyways just looking to hear your thoughts guys

Time for Unlimited Class in AAFTA?

I thought it best to start a new thread, rather than going further and further off topic in the "Is Open class suffering a slow death"

It's been attempted in the past, but there is a new AAFTA BoG for the most part and the clubs have more testing under their belts and who knows it might fly now.

Would we merge the Open class into the new class.. or leave open and add a totally new class?
