Yesterday, the weather moderated enough and the family had come to celebrate Thanksgiving on Wednesday, allowing me to get out and shoot some longer groups to complete some of the annual performance and maintenance work.

Featured in this review is the 2nd pcp I ever purchased. Acquired from Straight Shooters, it was originally in a green poplar stock. I used it so much that the finish got scratched up, and while I considered purchasing one of the beautiful aftermarket stocks for it, I always need a "go to" rifle so I just took the camo paint cans out and went at it.

In my opinion, and understanding that I own several rifles two to three times as expensive to acquire, the Air Arms series of rifles are too often overlooked, especially for first time buyers. These rifles are accurate, extremely well built, and virtually bullet proof.

This rifle has had a few modifications over the years. Probably four or five years ago now, I sent it to Scott Schneider at Motorhead, and he installed a HUMA regulator in it and gave it a total reseal. I changed out the standard AA fill stub that requires their proprietary adapter, to a foster fitting.

This rifle has never let me down when called upon. I was a little disappointed in the 51 yard test groups shown below, as I have shot much better ones with this rifle. But the two groups were very consistent, and I am going to blame it on the quartering and variable winds blowing around yesterday. At just under 20 FPE, I didn't see any point at testing it at more than 50 yards. If I want to kill something further than that, I will grab a bigger, more powerful rifle.

Never really believing that I have much of a use for a true bullpup, nor believing they could ever shoot as accurate as a full length rifle, because I didn't have one in my collection, I purchased this Charlie Frear tuned .25 Cricket from another AGN member a few months back. I tested it with four different .25 pellets upon acquisition, but the 33.95 gr easily outperformed the others.

I hate the way it cocks at the back as it seems totally awkward to me. It is much louder than my more conventional rifles with threaded moderators. It is as ugly as ugly can be, but as far as power and accuracy, WOW. I guess beauty is somewhat in the eyes of the beholder. It is built like a tank and is very efficient from an accuracy & power plant perspective.

It didn't take much maintenance effort to check this rifle out as it has only been a couple of months since I went through the check-out and set-up phase at the time of acquisition from this site's on-line classified forum. The test results can be seen below for those interested.

Up for discussion this time is my .22 Daystate Red Wolf, originally purchased in 2019 from Ken Hicks at SPAW. Ken set it up to shoot three different pellets, each on a different power setting, though I don't think I have ever shot anything through it but the JSB Jumbo Monster Redesigned 25.39 gr pellets, as my dope chart indicating scope clicks is predicated on the utilization of this pellet.

This rifle was one of the earlier rifles that had a probe/magazine issue. It also encountered a wiring issue relatively early on. Shane at AOA promptly fixed the electrical issue under warranty, as well as pinned out the magazine actuating probe. Until recently, I shot it utilizing a single shot loader adapter, or on occasion, CARM magazines. That problem has now been rectified with the release of the new Daystate flip open magazines and the tests shown below utlized the new mags.

About a year ago, I blew a breech seal out. The members of this forum talked me through seal acquisition and replacement, and it didn't turn out to be a big deal.

No good deed often goes unpunished,. This rifle was performing perfectly until I was in the middle of this annual maintenance review, and going to charge the battery, I accidentally pulled the wiring harness connector leading to the circuit board loose from the very delicate wires. Calling Shane at AOL, he gave the usual great professional service, talking me through how to make the repair myself and sending me the needed wiring loop.

I have a real love/hate relationship with this rifle. Without a doubt, it is one of the most smooth, laser accurate rifles ever manufactured. I just feel uncomfortable with the electronics and find myself feeling at somewhat of a loss when something goes afoul. My Daystate Wolverine, RAW, and certain FX rifles seem to shoot nearly as accurate, without having the delicate electronics to be concerned with. I never say never, but at this point, I am not certain I would buy another one, even with all of its great attributes and AOA's tremendous service.

The test data can be found below. This rifle is now certifiably ready for another year of service.

I’m a new member here and new to PCP rifle. I purchased a new Daystate Revere 22. I really like it. It groups great but just about every time I shoot it my POI changes. For example I went hunting yesterday, zerod my rifle before I went it wasn’t too far off 2 clicks on the scope low and left. I went hunting got 1 squirrel then I missed a few easy shots. Had a target with me. Shot it at 30 Yards. 1 1/2” low and left. Checked my scope rings and changed the scope. Same POI changes. I don’t think my reg is leaking either. Any help would be appreciated.

My Weihrauch HW100, Bullpup, Carbine has developed a major leak. It's about two years old.
I replaced the o-rings at the valve, behind the air cylinder. No difference. Waiting for the cylinder o-rings. I didn't get those in the first o-ring kit.

Damn, was having pretty good luck, with, non-leaking guns. Hmm forgot my RTI Prophet that leaked at the rear fitting. Not leaking anymore.

Not sure If anyone would be interested in this or, if it has been discussed here. This is an industrial gear box breather. On my Omega air charger. Before filling pull a couple plugs out of the bottom and replace them when your done. I see a significant reduction in moisture. I also use a gold filter with molecular sieve on the output. I typically only pull 4 of the plugs out when filling. It is not very restrictive and has a fair dust filter inside.. It does have some weight to it so, some support is a good idea to prevent stress or failure of the air intake. A couple wraps of electrical tape makes for a snug fit on the intake.

Does anyone have any opinion on how these two FFP scopes would compare?

It look like the Optika6 is 30mm vs Ares ETR 34mm and the Ares is ~4oz heavier? Price is similar. How does the glass, durability, tracking, and turrets compare?

Can anyone confirm that the Optika6 parallax does go down to 10y?

I have the Midas Tac in both 4-16x and 6-24x. I would assume the glass is better in both the Optika6 and Ares ETR?

Any input would be great!

If you are setting up the gun for a single pellet and at a certain velocity, do you set the pressure to the exact pressure that gets you that velocity or higher? If higher, by what amount?

Trying to decide which caliber to order it in. I’ve always been a .22 shooter for the most part but trying to get input on if one caliber seems to be more accurate than the other before I purchase. Thanks

I don’t know to much about the 2020 HUBAN .22 it works with no function issues that I know of short of the gauge backing plate moves. That would need to be replaced but does not leak at this time. I put some JSB 18.13 down range. Fun to shoot but not my cup of tea. It is in good condition but has some visible marks. It has been used. Asking ($1000) $800 Shipped or make an offer. If you want more pics just pm me. Need this to move due to unforeseen issue.

Looking to buy a Brocock Ranger XR in either 22 or 25 caliber...so what would you pick? I really like 25 cal but if a 22 cal gives me more velocity and a better trajectory then I'll probably go with that. Little more shot count with a 22 than a 25 cal as well.

Also this will be a pest gun for birds (starlings) within 50 yards. I have a Bsa R10 and Daystate Wolverine for longer ranges and bigger game, but I find most of the time I grab a smaller gun for closer ranges. The Ranger XR fits the bill for that.
