Wonderful day here in Omaha today. Got together with a local airgunner and slung a little lead. Where putting the band back together this spring. Going to try to organize a shoot like I did in Texas, Autumn Airgun fun for those who remember or came to one. It will be about 25 miles south of Omaha.

To think, I almost sold this air rifle....

What was I thinking?

So as some of you saw, my new sturgeonmatic showed up friday and what a delightful treat it was today.

As promised I took the rifle out and shot it today after a nice hike with Peri, I shot it at 60 yards and 100 yards

The weather today was less than ideal, 26* and with snow on the way before shooting , the wind was hectic, 1 second it would be a head wind, next tail, then from the right and then from the left, all good though, over here at fridge alley in lovely north east connecticut we are not fair weather shooters! This beard keeps the chin warm like a perfect chin mitten should.

Without further a-do , the sturgeonmatic!!

It showed up with many other pellets, targets, a couple sets of rings and a nice Hawke Vantage 4-16x44 (first sfp scope I have used in a LONGGGGGGGGGG time)




What is the sturgeonmatic you may ask? its a tradition long rifle in .25 caliber shooting 25.39 jsb, nice wood stock, bolt action repeater... upon receival I did clean the bore, my oh my was it filthy.





Here is the chrono results out of the box with a tiny HST adjustment

Not too bad right? 40 ft lbs, with more left in the tank

So I did have a pellet jam which caused the breech oring to come out, had to fix that with the keys in my pocket in the middle of the "cold" , then the zeroing commenced at 35 yards ( always zero there, not sure why I just like it )

First shot group is 9 at 60...





The next group is @ 101 yards exactly, now keep in mind, weather today was not optimal so I have to say for 9 shots on one and 5 shots on the other both these groups are excellent!





I really think all 3 groups could have been better, I think with tuning the Sturgeonmatic could be phenomenal... thoroughly impressed especially with the release of the fux123 and the pantera it was really a tough choice but I believe I made the right one.

Here is what the Sturgeonmatic really is and I have to say, I am blown away, tried and true, not my typical choice and I had so much fun with it this rifle is sticking around!!!

Jsar raptor 30 cal in red, comes with 2 mags, aeon 8x32 scope and rings, donnyfl sumo, bipod, spinner wrench to adjust regulator and a hardshell case will throw in a tin of jsb 44’s.. the reg is set around 1900psi and is shooting the 44’s around 860fps, and plenty of room to tune up, my other raptor I have reg at 2300psi and I’m shooting at 1000fps it is a tack driver and very quiet and backyard friendly with current tune. This is one of my favorite rifles in my collection and I hate to sell it but I found another rifle on here that I want so something has to go, may consider trades

So I used an Airbow one and fell in love with almost everything about it (except the noise level). I was talking to someone about air rifles and was told that I should look into getting an air rifle and see about shooting bolts out of an air rifle. Then when I asked where to find out about my questions I was told to come here.

So now I'm here to ask questions and hopefully not annoy anyone with my questions.
So my first question would be, is it better to buy and arrow gun and shoot arrows or would I be happier if I bought an air rifle and figure out how to shoot arrows/bolts out of it?
And then how hard/expensive is it to convert an air rifle to an arrow/bolt rifle? And can they still shoot both arrows and slugs?
And then where do I start when looking for an air rifle that is able to shoot arrows?

Also I am looking to get this for cayotes and maybe deer as to size of animal.

Looks like a dozen moderators in .25 for sale in “like new condition.” First sale I’ve seen like this. I’ve seen a many FX fans on the forums. I figured some member, airgunsmith, or shop owner might want them. Just a heads up. They’re asking $240 before shipping.

Scored these 4 off the AA classified Crosman 167 / 2260 / 180 / 187. They all hold air look great also a couple came with boxes. I love these older wood and steel Crosmans.

After getting into air rifles several years ago, I finally have my first Springer. I jumped in with PCPs, and after finding field target, I decided I wanted to keep testing my skills and decided to get a Springer for Hunter.

Picked up a TX200 from a great guy and my journey has begun. Topped it off with an Athlon Helos BTR 4-20. Just waiting on my focus wheel from JD.

Sat down at my table to test a few shots. The target is at 50 yards, but oh well. Broke out the Crossmans for some quick testing, and looking good. First shot was 6 MOA low. Cranked up the scope and next shot was right in the cross hairs. NICE!!!

Definiltey has a little kick to it, unlike PCPs, but not bad. Not loud at all. I didn’t really hear any twangs or anything. Kinda liked it. This is going to be fun. The only problem I see is that everyone with springers seems to have several, not just 1…

RTI Priest 2 in excellent condition with case, two magazines (one RTI, one after market), .5L cylinder dared 05/2019, .36L cylinder dated 02/2022, RTI power plenum, and after market 3d printed butt plate with monopod attachment. Signs of use and wear are on the picatinny rail and on the cooking lever catch and slot. Some minor wear on the thread protector as well from being taken Off and on.

The rifle is shown in the photos without the thread protector and that is just an oversight on my part. The thread protector is there.

Grip has been replaced with a wider, softer Houge grip and the gum has been tuned down to shoot 12fpe with a regular pressure at 60 BAR. So, ton of shots even on the smaller cylinder.

That being said, this thing is capable of big power and it has the externally adjustable RTI regulator and the externally adjustable hammer spring screw. So it can be set up to your liking. At this power with a DonnyFL, it's whisper quiet which is what I need in my suburban backyard. Even without, it super quiet.

Over the years I've had the privilege of reviewing some pretty interesting Airguns. Here are three in particular that stood out in being some of the worst in my own opinion obviously. The last ones the winner of all winners

Doing some work on my m3 and ran into something I haven't had a issue with before.

The gun will not degass. Pulled the bottle, and loosened the second reg.. nothing happens. Will not bleed air from the plenem.

Any ideas?

Im considering buying a PCP rifle in the next month or so and i know a air compressor can be purchased but where can i find a good one at a descent price and/or where can i have a tank filled?

I am interested in the FX Dreamline. I have done research and have seen a lot of aftermarket parts for it. Anyone that have owned or currently own one can you please tell me good tunes for it? Also if the upgrades can fit the classic version of the gun. Like the power plenum, Huma slug kit, and 600mm .22 barrel? This is a hunting gun.
