What I shot at 2022 EBR 100Y BR

As always at Rio Salado, the wind separated the wheat from the chaff. I decided in early August to stop shooting .22 RD Monsters and shift to .25 King Heavy.

So I ordered a new .25 Daystate Red Wolf HP in Walnut that I named “Bullseye”. The gun is tuned to shoot .25 Heavy at about 950 fps on the Medium Power setting. It is supported by an Accutac bipod, topped by a Vortex Golden Eagle 15-60x scope, and fed by a MidWest Elite Airguns high capacity magazine.

Not one flyer the entire week. Superb accuracy. Two weeks prior to EBR I had a morning with almost no wind. I shot three ten shot groups back to back at 100 yards, and each one could be covered by a quarter.
I also added a PRS lower rail, and a 2.5# brass weight to keep the little jump straight back instead of up.

Plus that Walnut stock is just gorgeous. I know it’s a cliche, but you can buy an off the shelf pellet rifle and compete well at the highest levels as is, out of the box. I lost to a VERY HIGHLY modified FX Crown and a CUSTOM Thomas HP-X. Trust me, those two guns were no more accurate then mine. I lost because those two guys were better at reading wind than me and it had nothing to do with my gun’s accuracy.

An interesting factoid. In 2019 when I won Sportsman I shot a 217, and Nicolay won Pro with a 225. This past Sunday, I shot 216 for third, and Nicolay shot 225 for second. Things that make you go hmmm.
I’m case you’re wondering, that 216 was MUCH better than the 217, winds were significantly harder this year…

Projectile test for hunting.

Forgive me if this has been asked before I did my research and couldn’t really find what I was looking for.

As we all know the advertisement of foot pounds of energy for a giving caliber can be exaggerated by manipulation of faster lighter projectiles and at the muzzle.

Like for example a 50 gr 30 cal pellet gives 93 Ft-lb at the muzzle but at 100 yards it lost almost half of it’s starting energy.

My question is not about projectiles or calibers but actual testing media an average person can utilize for testing.

Squirrel 🐿 pretty much we all know it’s going down.

But what about

Head shot on a Turkey or hog at 100 yards.

What should I use as a testing?
1/4, 1/2,5/8 wood + something behind?
Food can ?
All of this at 100 yards

Moved my Benchrest inside the house

Hello everyone,

I have enjoyed shooting from inside my shop but every time I needed to work in the shop I had to move all my PCP items to protect them from the shop dust. So I decided to move the Benchrest and all of the PCP items inside my house. I built a wood insert that closed off the lower half of a window and installed a small vertical opening window in the insert. I offset the small vertical window to the right so that the morning sun is now blocked and makes viewing the targets perfect. Now I have the Benchrest, pellets, tools, gun vice, etc. all inside in one location. No matter how hot or how cold it gets, I now can shoot at targets from 10-meters out to 80-yards.

Brocock Ghost

Hi,
Just finished EBR and headed to AoA to pickup a .30 caliber Ghost, first one sold retail i think and launching this week. Basically its interchangable with the Delta Wold, but all mechanical, no electronics. Will post first impressions this weekend, flying back to FL today. Jerry and Linda McGee are driving it back to Tampa along with their new .30 Delta Wolf. This was one of the guns used during EBR and Chris (from AoA) made it to final round with one. More to come.

Curious What’s Considered Decent Accuracy

I recently got a brand new RAW Chassis Rifle in .22. I’m shooting the JSB 25.39 grain pellets at an average of 940fps. I’m just setting at a solid table with the rifle on an Atlas Bipod. I’m not a competition shooter by any stretch. I plink and shoot birds. This is my best 10 shot group at 40 yards. I’m happy with it

Two improvements to share.

1.- Recrown on the barrel of my Daystate Woverine HP HR. 25 Cal.

I decided to recrown the barrel of this rifle and the accuracy became insane at 100 yards.

2.- Made wider the entrance of the projectile to the barrel of my Bantam sniper.

I change the barrel to my Bantam Sniper HR. 25 Cal about two years ago.

When I tried the NSA Slugs on it, I notice that the last part of the travel to close the bolt was difficult and needed a little push.

I took off the barrel and with a drill, after removing the inside o'ring of the barrel, I made a wider entrance of the pellet/slug in order to get inside loose completly beyond the hole that receives the air at shooting. Then reinserted the o'ring.

Now the closing of the bolt with the pellet is butter smooth.

What is interesting is that the feeling at the shoot changed completly, now the shot feels to flow instead of the típical bang and recoil vibrating.

Accuracy remains perfect.

Talent at EBR 100Y Pro

The talent at EBR this year was through the roof, and the competition was unbelievably stiff. Plus the conditions were typical Rio Salado, winds that never stayed the same direction or speed for more than a couple seconds.

With only a few exceptions, every previous EBR or RMAC winner and top five finishers over the past 5 years was at EBR competing! There was more talent at this match than any previous 100Y BR match in Airgun history….

Crosman CO2 Pistol Owners

I have a question for the Crosman CO2 pistol owners out there. I have a 2300S that I've shot 1300 pellets, a couple of weeks ago I noticed a very slight ticking/dripping noise coming from the tube there is no issues with the operation of the pistol it shoots very well. To hear the noise you must put the pistols tube up to your ear its that slight. I contacted Crosman and spoke to a tech and he said that's not normal and stated it might be too much oil. I put a drop of Pellgunoil on every cartridge as instructed per the instructions. The tech advised putting oil on every third cartridge. I've done as he recommended and I'm still hearing the sound . I don't understand what's causing the sound:unsure: the pistol works fine. I asked the tech what would cause this sound since there is no pressure and he said either too much oil or the spring??. Is there still pressure inside the valve after you remove the cartridge? I wouldn't think so.. He said to send it in and they would check it, I really don't what to go through all that especially since the pistol is working fine. So for all you Crosman CO2 pistol especially the 2300S owners out there have you notice this slight sound coming from the tube after removing the cartridge?? You most likely would have to put the tube near your ear to hear it.

When you first remove the cartridge the tick/drip is about every 2 seconds. The crazy part is I would check it hours later and its still doing it however I would say its every 10 seconds and would progressively get longer between the tick/drip noise until it finally stops but can take up to 24 hours and then you don't hear it anymore. I know I'm being anal about it but inquiring minds what to know???

Tuning  FX DreamTac Compact FPS for JSB 15.89 and 18.13 Pellets

I bought a .22 FX DreamTact Compact here at AGN several months ago. Just got around to mess with it a couple weeks ago. The gun came without any mods. I added a Dreamline plenum and changed the tube to CF bottle. My first effort at tuning it got close to 800 FPS for JSB 15.89gr and the 18 gr lower. The reg pressure is at over 100 but maybe less than 110 bar. TP at "med" and hammer spring at 3 with the fine adjustment bottoming out at MAX. Tried a few higher settings without significant improvement. I didn't write them down but I believe I got as high as 160 bar and the velocity was not over 850 FPS. I think 800 FPS at 110 bar is a good balance but keep wondering whether the gun can reach 870-880 FPS with the 18 gr pellet. Of course, I'm saying this with the stock 320mm barrel. It would not be a "compact" anymore if a longer barrel is installed.

Does any of you have a DreamTact Compact (320mm barrel) tuned to run over 850 FPS with JSB 18 gr or 16 gr?

Thank you!
