Beeman R9 First Serious Shooting - Fiasco

Finally got out to the gun club with my new 0.177 cal R9. So far so good with indoor shooting in the basement at 10m. Started today at 25 yards getting the scope (Centerpoint 4-16x40 AO) zeroed. Shot real low, not enough adjustment in the scope to get it on center. It was grouping pretty bad, got a lot of semi-decent three shot groups that were with one or two flyers for each.

I then started to notice a burnt oil smell. Ooops #1 probably should have degreased and cleaned it first.

Then noticed this...
IMG_3573.JPG

The scope is not supposed to recoil off the rifle is it?? Also everything on the scope was loose although the reticle seemed fine...

I finally got a piece of wood and drove the scope the rest of the way off (Bring hex keys next time too...). Tried the factory open sights next. Pellets were like a shotgun pattern. I am not going to blame an excellent rifle, I was trying to hold it fairly loose and just let it do its thing. I know for a fact i'm flinching when the thing shoots. The recoil is a totally different character to PB's and PCP's. I can shoot a 30 cal PB all day with zero flinch, but thing thing gets me twitching. More practice.

Regarding the movement of the scope mount would locktite help? How do you guys do your scope mounts on springers. My mount is a simple 11mm dovetail mount matching to the factory grooves on the rifle. I was amazed that it moved as much as it did and what it did to the scope. Especially considering I had to work at it quite a bit to drive it the rest of the way off that really speaks to the type of recoil these things have.

Anyways I'm open to suggestions.

Benjamin Trail NP XL 1500 Sighting in help needed!

Need some help. Got it as a present. 1st one was dead on shot but broke in a few months. Benjamin replaced it with another. The 2nd had bad vibrations and replaced it with a 3rd. The problem is that I can't get this thing to scope in. Will shoot a bullseye, then next few shots, they are all over the place. Any advice on how to get this thing to be scoped in? I like the design, but I can't get this dialed in. Plus, every time I shoot, the scope goes out of focus. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

NLA Edgun Lelya 2.0 0.25 Walnut w/ Soft Case & Accessories - Needs O-ring Replacement

Hello AGN,

I'm looking to sell a very nice 0.25 caliber Edgun Lelya 2.0 w/ a nicely figured walnut stock, cheek piece, 2 magazines, fill probe, bipod rail, soft case, full o-ring kit and other extra accessories. I bought this rifle from a local seller and it is a great shooter. I had it scoped with a SWFA 3-15x42 scope and it was such an awesome, compact, lightweight and accurate package that was a joy to shoot.

Earlier this year, one of the o-rings gave out and caused a leak. I took the rifle apart to do a full reseal - which I've done before and is typically very easy to do on an Edgun. Everything went smoothly with the exception of one o-ring - which is the large 25x3mm o-ring where the two sections of the plenum connect. The two sections of the plenum are screwed together very tightly and I cannot get them apart to properly insert a new o-ring there. I tried a few times but don't have the strength, skill or tools to disassemble this part (it's the silver part shown in the photos below) so I've just had this rifle sitting unused in my safe for most of this year. Since I haven't shot more than 50 pellets this entire year on any of my rifles, I figure it's probably time to move this rifle on to someone who will use and appreciate it.

This should be an easy fix for someone with the know-how and/or proper tools to get this stuck part unscrewed; putting everything back together is a piece of cake. I will include a full replacement Lelya 2.0 o-ring kit to completely reseal the rifle again as needed. The rifle is in otherwise great condition and will be an excellent shooter for you once put back into action. But please do not buy this if you don't have the ability/tools to replace the plenum o-ring because I won't be able to help you...

Rifle is priced accordingly @ $1,200 + actual shipping to your location.

Local pickup is available in the SF Bay Area - otherwise, payment by Paypal Friends & Family is preferred (or add 3.5% if using PP Goods & Services). I haven't been very active lately but have been on this forum for a long time and have abundant feedback as both a seller & buyer so know that you're dealing with a reputable trader.

Umarex Airguns was at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally’s All New GUNFEST in August 2022

This is my first time seeing anything about this. Umarex USA set up at a three-day event at the Buffalo Chip Shooting Range during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2022 to show case airguns along side firearms and firearm ammunition. Here’s an excerpt concerning GUNFEST from the HAM article linked below:

“It gives visitors the opportunity to watch demonstrations and test out the latest firearm products, ammunition, accessories and more in a safe and controlled environment. The event is free and open to the public. In addition, airguns also will be part of GUNFEST! That’s courtesy of Umarex USA.” Umarex appears to have been the only major airgun sponsor, if not the only airgun sponsor.

For more information about GUNFEST click this link. https://targetprograms.net/

When I looked up the event I read in another article that “Umarex had the largest selection of products for everyone to shoot…” Source of quote https://www.theoutdoorwire.com/releases/39721636-bb0e-49bd-9751-73e651011509

HW35 vs HW50?

Having fallen for these air rifles with the use of my HW30 the past few weeks, I'm looking for another rabbit hole to climb into.

I've read all I can find about the two rifles (the 35 and50). That said I'd like to hear how they compare to each other AND the now familiar HW30.

Most interested in their handling and balance, untuned shot cycles and most importantly to me their respective accuracy potentials.

The rifle will be used for squirrel hunting and informal (but serious) target shooting.

Most likely going to be a .177, unless I'm talked into a .22 version of one of the rifles.

Thanks in advance for any and all replies all and have a great weekend!

Moisture question

Hello, i’m a bit new. I’ve never disassembled my PCP yet. When I actually get around disassembling it for maintenance, is it a good idea to stick in one of those desiccant sticker inside the air reservoir? The MicroPak stickers found in shoe boxes dont rattle and sticks to a surface.

desiccant sticker would take up very little room, but not sure if they work under pressure. Anyone tried this before? Or any idea if it would help with moisture?

Three five shot groups with Atomic XR

Sent these three consecutively after work today. Am dog tired, but had to send a few down range. Bipod front, fist and shoulder for rear. Wind from behind my left shoulder about 2-3 mph. Groups 1 and 2, JSB Exact Jumbo 18s. Group 3? CPHPs. Within 50 yards? Small pests don’t know the difference…

AAA Evol Paradigm with new laminate stock

About 3 weeks ago, I emailed Steve Corcoran (Woods & Water Outdoors) requesting if he could make a laminate stock for the AAA Evol Paradigm. I already have the walnut version and thought it would be nice to pick up a separate laminate stock for it. As some might know, Steve makes the walnut stocks for the Paradigm in collaboration with Tom at AAA and AoA. Steve informed me that he has already started making laminate stocks available in two colors, Green Mountain Camo and Gray laminate.

He had already sent them to Tom at AAA for assembly and informed me that the laminate stocks weren't available for purchase through him and I was told to contact AoA because the new guns with laminate stocks would be sold through them. I went on to AoA's site to check if they listed them for sale but no luck so I decided to give them a call. I spoke with Darren at AoA and asked him about the new laminate stocks and if I could purchase one separately.

Darren informed me that I was the first to ask and said he would check on them. He later came back and said that I could get one and that it would be sold through them and drop shipped from AAA since Tom still had them for assembly and has not sent them to AoA yet. I decided to get the Green Mountain Camo laminate and received it on Labor Day. I'm only posting about this now due to a busy work schedule and I finally had some time to take some better pics.

This is my first Green Camo laminate and I'm super happy with the color combination. Thanks to Steve, Tom, and especially Darren from AoA for working with me on being able to pick up a separate stock. I really enjoy dealing with AoA. Those guys rock!!!

Legitimizing an ad ...............

There are various ways to scam people and there are various ways to determine the legitimacy of an ad. I saw an ad that I thought was too good to be true. The person allegedly had done a lot of business on AGN. "Have bought and sold many rifles/scopes on this forum. You can buy with confidence." That is a quote from his ad. He joined June 8 2022 so that is your first warning flag and he has done a lot in that time. ??????????? So I decided to Paypal some money to the email address provided in his ad. Any legit scammer has a Paypal account, right? And so he did. I sent 25 cents to that account. I expected some sort of reply such as "what is this?" "what do you want" etc you know, something. I got nothing at all. You know that Paypal told him that he had money. I am just going to conclude that it is a scam for my benefit. It may not be but I am not going to risk it.
