Power Plenum…benefits?

I have a Taipan Vet Long .22 that I want to power up a bit for shooting 25 grain slugs close to 1000 fps. I’m using a 700mm barrel w/ barrel tension, HUMA reg, and a power plenum. Does anyone know if two power plenums would give an increase in power? Along with that…the point of a larger plenum is to have more air to maximize the power output of a longer barrel, yes? Therefore, there is no point to install a power plenum on a compact gun/short barrel, yes?

Ever ask yourself, why the difference?

Just noticed the 50yd. groups the AA510 put up, would be hard to beat that group.
Thinking this: a lot of PCPs use the LW barrels,if all of them "liked" the same pellet why wouldn't they all shoot the same?
My opinion is why not. Thus a quality PCP is no better than another!...Hoo, then it becomes a matter of personal likes.
When something is agreeable to you one tends to like it; agreeable as is easy to get along with, fits good, and not fussy.
Your PCP is no better than mine, weather you pay $$$$$ or $$,it is all in your pocket book, mean head.
People are Always asking ,"what should I get"?and there will be a lot of different answers.
This forum is skewed toward BullPups and that is what most people recommend.
I see I should have started 2 different topics, better just leave with this,Better to know what YOU want,do the research, get a good idea what is the easiest fit for you; remember in the end there should not be much difference in the accuracy,so the fit and ease of shooting should be a better way to go.

NoeBulletMolds registration [Solved]

I don't know where else to ask other than here. I tried creating a forum account for the NoeBulletMolds forum because I want to create a post for a group buy. But I'm not receiving the verification email to create my account. I haven't had a response for 2 weeks on my direct email to them either, so I can't ask them directly why it's not working. Did anyone else have this issue when signing up for their forums, and if so is there a fix?

An empyrical explanation against believers of how an air rifle works and what the regulator is for.

Lets understand how an air rifle works in order people stop playing with the regulators.

In a rifle with hammer system there are two forces in fight, the preassure on the cilinder, bottle or plenum, and the force of the hammer (spring on tensión that is release with the trigger) to open the valve and release the air to move the pellet.

The higher the preassure in plenum, the less oppening of the valve, unless you increases the tensión of the spring of the hammer.

To be able to know what is the maximum power of your rifle you can remove the regulator, dial in all preassure (tensión of the spring) of the hammer and fill the rifle to 80 bar and shoot and measure fps, then to 90 and measure again, then to 100 and measure again. Eventually you will notice a decreases of fps, that mean that the top fps your rifle can give was the previous bar filling. At that preassure you should set your regulator and then decreases hammer tensión in order that you feel the rifle to shoot smoth.

Once you find that preassure the regulator should be set there and NOT MOVED. You will nor gain anything. The regulator will keep that exact optimal preassure for the air rifle to shoot at maximum power from top preassure allowed, to the regulated preassure set.

For example my Vulcan 3. 30 Cal gets to the top fps at 140 bar. If I increases preassure. Fps start decreasing.

The only rifles on which more preassure in regulator means more fps are the HUBEN, LCS and Rattler because those rifles do not have a hammer.

In other words once you get to know the adequate preassure your regulator has to be, you should not mess with it.

I took the following image from the thread of the Brocock Ghost. It confirms exactly what I explained above:

Monday, a good day to be cocked...

Out of the curiosity of a few, and my own, I'll take on this task.

My relatively new (about 6 months old) Taipan, Veteran Compact, in .22 cal., I do not have any idea how long it sat on the shelf at the dealer.
I will take on the task of cocking, letting it sit for 7 days (+/- 3 hours), and shooting it. I'll keep track of all obvious parameters of the very lightly-scientific test.

1667259230588.jpeg

One note - the sight was changed a while back. Just full disclosure !
Also, because it had not been shot in some time, I did put a few rounds through it before the test began, so the gauge needle is further off of the 3000psi. But, the tell, will be between the two photos that I will post.

1. I've topped off the cylinder. As verified with the 2" gauge on storage my air cylinder.
2. I put three shots through it. With the pellet speed as measured with my MagnetoSpeed, Ver.3., as measured in fps.
3. I cocked the gun (fourth round), putting a JSB, 18.1 gr. pellet into the breach, and put the safety "on". I never use the safety's !
4. I've put the gun behind the bedroom door, standing upright, barrel up, the barrel is lightly protected with a sock to keep rocks out. Only me and two cats live here, so no one will mess with the gun.
5. The gun will sit, undisturbed for 7 days, +/- about 3 or so hours.
6. Next Monday, after lunch, I'll verify the pressure in the guns cylinder.
7. I'll reinstall the Chronograph onto the barrel.
8. I'll shoot three rounds into my foam target, recording the three speeds in fps.
9. Will photograph the pressure gauge, both now and after the week is up.

We'll see what the outcome is, both in any obvious pressure loss from the gun, and in fps per the MagnetoSpeed chronograph.
Will write everything on paper and take a picture of it, so all can see my findings.

Have I missed anything ?

Mike

Pulled off a Maverick dual tune!

Ok, I just couldn't lose the itch to try slugs in my Maverick VP. I tried a few different slugs in the past, got OK groups but never as good as my pellets.

Yesterday I decided to give it another try. My rifle is .25 cal and tuned to shoot 34 grain JSB's. It's hole in hole at 30 yards when I do my part.

To start my process I confirmed through the chrono that it likes the pellets to leave the muzzle at 890, I had the power wheel at 7.
So I turned the wheel to 6 and then upped the second reg until I was back at 890, this ended up being 119-120 on the rear gauge. Shot lights out.

Next I loaded up with NSA 29 gr slugs and power wheel at 5. At 30 yards I had quarter sized groups with an occasional flyer. As I turned up the power wheel they got smaller and even at 6 no more flyers. Went up to 7 and bam, groups as tight as my pellets. I didn't use the chrono as I didn't want to be biased in my tune. FPS didn't matter, only group size. After the initial tune I put 45 slugs through the rifle and all the 5 shot groups were a ragged hole.

Next I went across the street to a neighbors for a try at continuing my slug experiment on squirrels. His back fence straight out is 50 yards so at angles it's obviously a little longer. The squirrels like to run the ground along the fence. I felt squirrels at 50 yards plus would give me my final answer. Within about ten minutes four squirrels were down. All were head shots pretty much where I aimed. Two in the side of the head were pretty much missing the other side of the head when I retrieved. Two were head on. Three of the four dropped in their tracks without a flinch. One hit in the side of the head dropped then did two flops.

I'm pretty thrilled with the outcome and being able to switch back and forth between pellets and slugs with the turn of a dial.

FYI today I chono'd the slugs and was getting 937. One added benefit I noticed was a ten shot string had eight shots at 937 and two at 935 so a bit more consistent than the pellets.

PCP General Question

This question is about my FX Impact.

I had a full fill of 250 bar. After the first 28 shot magazine I noticed I was down to 200 bar and thought ”wow, I won’t get 100 shots out of this”. The next mag took it down about 30, and each additional mag went down less. I stopped at 100 bar, where the 2nd reg is set and that was 5 mags (140 shots). I didn’t have the chronograph setup and was only watching for an impact change on the target which I didn’t see.

Is this normal to use more air when tank pressures are higher? I’ve left it filled for several days with no change in pressure so there doesn’t appear to be a leak. No complaints about the number of shots, just seemed odd.

Tuning  FX Impact mk2 sniper saved from sale by improving it

My friend has Impact mk2 with PP and 700mm barrel in .22. He was not happy with it as it was not giving him his desired accuracy.

He sold this gun to me at lower price. I disassembled the gun completely and inspected everything and modified and improved those areas that I normally improve.

Tuned for .22 25 grain redesigned pellets.

Now he is happy with the results hence I am returning it to him and getting my funds back.

NLA HUGE .25 cal Delta Wolf Package deal!

NOTE! I am marking this as NLA because I re-listed it with less included in the package. I will still honor this package deal if you're interested. The rifle and all accessories listed are all still available!

This rifle only has a few hundred rounds through it and already shoots just as good as my EBR winning Red Wolf! One of the only reasons I didn't bring it to EBR this year was that I wanted to compete in the one gun challenge. When I take into consideration that I've hardly done any tuning to it, I know that it has plenty of potential waiting for someone to bring it to that next level!

I am selling this as a package deal and I am not interested in separating it, at this time.

This .25 cal Delta Wolf. rifle package will include,
4 .25 cal Daystate magazines!!
Daystate Delta/Alpha Wolf Programmer!
Hawke Frontier 5-30x56 scope! (18-441)
PRS Arca/Picatinny rail
PRS
Bag Rider
1/2x20 Silencer adaptor
Donny FL Shogun
Accu-Tac FC-4 G2 Bipod!
10 tins
of your choice .25 JSB MKII's or Rangemaster Pellets!!
Daystate poly rifle case
all original parts, rails, thread protectors, paperwork, etc.
This is a huge package worth over $5750! Everything is in excellent to like new condition except for some dust here and there.

I'm asking $4750 for all of it, shipped and insured (conus only). The rifle will be double boxed. The rest of the package will be shipped in an additional 2 boxes.
Trades considered but, I'm only interested in a Red Wolf in .25 standard, .22 standard, .25 long... plus money to make up the difference.
Paypal F&F preferred or, add applicable fees. Venmo and certified check are also acceptable.
