The duality of man

I love to watch videos of raccoons, squirrels and other animals being cute on YouTube. However, as soon as a notification pops up on my phone that one has appeared on my property, I spring into action, grab my rifle, and give them a swift headshot. Don't ask me whose side I am on. Does anyone else feel this way?

The UTG Scout scope was just to big. It defeated the whole purpose of the scout rifle theory. I was really concerned with parallax issued with pistol scopes. After some good feedback on here, I found a vintage Charles Daily 2x pistol scope. Made in Japan, could be a Hikko. Saved over 12 ounces with rings. Parallax seams fine at under 30 yards. Gun handles so much better and fits the scout role as Col. Jeff Cooper designed it. Here pictures of both set ups which one do you like?

Taipan: no extra pellet or loader needed when hunting

never a big fan of bringing extra pellets to go hunting, which I always do (whole tin). But after today, I’ll start my New Year resolution a bit early.

From now on I’ll NEVER bring any extra pellet or pellet loader (never have one) to go hunting ever again.

If I can’t get any with the loaded mags I have, guess it was never meant to be that day. I wonder if I’ll run out of air or pellets first?

Tuning  My Buck Rail Crosman P1322 (Budget Build)

Wanted a discrete pistol for kayaking and out and about plinking which led me to picking this hobby back up after many years. I own and shoot a bunch of powder guns but there has always been a place in my heart for air guns.

Started life as a $50 amazon p1322

Quickly the mod bug bit me hard and along came the steel breech

Followed by the picatinny rail and $43 optic. I can WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend this little optic. Rave reviews all over the internet on these for powder rifles.

The thought process behind the rail was the ability to mount the optic far back but still allowing for access to the chamber to feed pellets. Happy how that came out.

Next was more power so an alchemy airwerks 3 piece kit was ordered and installed.

I did some deburrung while the gun was apart.

Screenshot_20221223_180943.jpg

Next I focused on the trigger. I ground and mirror polished all contact points, added a shim to the sear and compressed the spring as much as I could.

Then pulled apart a Winchester 22lr (garbage ammo btw) and put the case inside the spring and mirror polished the end to aid smoothness and stop the spring from bending. (Not my mod or idea, I read this mod on a forum)

Next I replaced the stupid roll pin with an ace hardware hex key bolt and lock nut.

In doing so I was finding the pump handle would open sometimes if you jerk the gun so I recessed some tiny magnets into the handle. This worked great and gives a nice click when the pump handle is stowed.

20221222_203922.jpg

If you're paying attention you'll see the pump handle is not original. It's the buck rail plumper pumper. 3D printed with a beautiful honeycomb design.

While I was at it I also added their grips, supressor and adapter and poor man's folding stock. I had a fantastic experience with Buck Rail and rate them very highly!

Here's the gun today. I have already bought a pcp and look forward to enjoying this hobby again.

Thanks for making it to the end of the post!

Coyote#5 - shot with H&N 27gr gen2 slugs

I finally succeeded after stalking these coyotes for a while now. Thru multiple attempts and long hours of sitting in the cold, I finally got lucky and encountered these coyotes. It was all about timing more than anything. I set up baits and trail cam to record their activities and although with valuable information gathered, it still wasn't easy as I thought it would be. They are very elusive and smart. I just got lucky to ran into them this night.

I arrived at the site around 9:15pm, set up the bait and quickly went up to the loft to get ready. Armed with my FX Impact MK2 with 600mm Slug A liner and my trusted H&N 27gr Gen2 slugs, I was feeling good that night. With 52 ft.lb of energy at the muzzle and the target range of 25-35 yards, I was very confident to drop a coyote if the opportunity came.

I was watching the field looking for movements for 2-1/2 hours but with the dark foggy night, my trail cam didn't work as I had planned. The red IR lights never came on to alert me when the coyotes showed up suddenly out of no where. I wasn't able to see them with my bare eyes even at 25 yards to the bait station. Luckily I heard some bone crunching sound that had alerted me. I quickly grabbed my Nikon binoculars and scanned the area.

My heart almost stopped when I saw two coyotes in the dim night lights. I lowered the glass down and grabbed my Impact off the floor, placing it onto the tripod without making any noise. I powered on the Pard007S night vision, pressed record and pointed the gun downrange before turning on the external IR light mounted on the side of my Impact. When my eye came into focus from the bright NV light, I saw two coyotes standing there. One went to the right and one already had a duck in its mouth. She was the one that chewed the neck of the duck and alerted me.

She was standing sideway when she first came into view in my scope and as she turned sightly towards exposing her forehead, I got the crosshair between the eyes and immediately squeezed off the shot. She dropped instantly without making any noise. The other coyote took off after hearing the blast of the shot. I scanned around but it was long gone.

Yup, I did it again dropping another coyote with a properly placed head shot using a .22 caliber airgun.

Enjoy this video. I can now plan to get coyote#6 soon.

Thanks for watching.

EDgun  Leishy 2 wont cycle the mag ?

Hi All,
i have had my L2 for around a year and haven’t used it much as from around 6 months ago it refuses to cycle the mag for the next shot,
When i pull the trigger it fires and you can see the magazine slowly move part of the way to cycle its self for the next shot but it stops/ gets stuck and hence wont fire if i proceed to open/ unfold the rifle the mag then jumps to the next cycle (ie lined up with ammo lined with the barrel) and it will now shoot it does this over and over, I have done as far as i know everything to try to sort this but i just cant get it to cycle,I have inspected all parts and all look as good as new and the gun has only shot around 200 slugs from new, because of this problem i just don,t or can not use it any body help please..

Springer one more time

I got a used 34 and it shot terrible. I tried putting a kit in it and found horrible gouges in the chamber. Well, it never was consistent and I gave it to my neighbor. I want to try a springer again and I am looking at the hw95/r9. I am 145 lb. and don't want to hold a 10lb. gun up or carry around. I want to continue to shoot FT and those 2 guns seem like they would fit me.

My bro gave me a silver streak which I used for pests now and then and it sat in the garage, but quit pumping up a few months ago. Because of the cold I ordered a kit, maybe I'll get it going again.

I was shooting a cz s200 two piece stock in FT. It is a niece gun and shoots sweet. I am getting tired of hauling a 8cc tank made of lead around. The s00 only gets 20-25 consistent shots before a refill is necessary. So, I thot I would try to sell/trade for another gun, but I can't find a value of the s200 on ebay. I am not taking a chance because I got the cz s200 from my bro and he didn't need/want his cz t200 which he gave me and it is the one I have been using for a couple of years. So, I figured I could lose the s200 for a springer. I was told I wouldn't like going from a pcp to a springer, but 30 miles to fill a tank and haul everything around a springer looks good. Would a 95/r9 be a good fit? thx

Dreamline Reg pressure question.

I have the .25 cylinder version, and am finding i'm getting 48 shots at 50 fpe average. My reg pressure is set to what I figured was too low at 120 bar. I have a tuning hammer spring I'm using (only 5 turns in) and have the barrel port turned to dual port instead of the pellet hole. When I look up what most folks are setting the reg at I think I'm finding 140-150 bar. Anyone else getting these numbers and shot amounts at 120 or so with a dreamline cylinder version?

In the meantime while you wait, Hein Frommann offers his insight into the gun through his engineering eyes:

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE HERE ON AIRGUN NATION!

Reputation

On the internet all you have is your reputation which is made by the way you conduct yourself. I am referencing selling here. It pisses me off that I do all that I can to be honest and fast in my sales. I even get " I am happy with the purchese", yet no "plus" point. If someone buys from me they get a "+". All the buyer has to do is pay which entitles them to a "+". When I complete my part I should get a "+". So very many times I have sold on here and got zero. I have never had to refund or explain any problems. All my dealings have been satisfactory or at least there were no complaints. In todays world that means that everyone was happy. Leave positive feedback when warranted.

RTI PROPHET II COMPACT BARREL SCREW UP, DID YOU BUY!!!

"The rifle is equipped with an interchangeable match grade Lothar Walther barrel that can be quickly changed to 4 available calibers (.177, .22, .25, and .30). All barrels have industry leading accuracy that will impress any shooter."
It was a hard piece of lead to swallow for 2000 dollars , But with all the hoopla over the match grade barrels from Lothar Walther, I seen where the compact 22 performance were selling for 1,400 bucks No I am going to wait and wait I did for five months , So I got my compact II in It does not have a Match grade L W Barrel !
PLEASE if you did not buy a RTI compact you have no say in this!!!!!! IF you did buy one how do you feel about it? I think RTI should have said sorry we can't get your match grade barrel we will knock 200 off the price of the gun,,, OR I think RTI should say sorry we could not get the match grade barrel here is 200 or 300 dollars credit when we get the barrels in.
Maybe I just need to suck it up , The Air gun people advertise one thing sell you something total different and say that is just the way it is..
Mike
