Buying a Benjamin Marauder in 2022?

Has anyone purchased a marauder this year? It’s been a long time since I’ve researched guns under $1000. On PyramidAir I see the marauder now have an option to be purchased with an Lothar Walther Match grade barrel and picatinny rail. I thought these options were reserved for the Field Target version of the marauder.

Has the factory tuned improved over the years?

LW barrels any good in the marauder? Could they be of same quality as a LW barrel in higher end guns?

Profile names

I was talking with @Bigragu and he asked about my profile name Redtick. So I shared with him where it came from, and got to thinking it might be fun to hear where other people got their name. As for me I used to, a long time ago, be a big The Simpsons fan, back when, in my opinion, they were good. I am talking the first 9 Seasons. There is one very obscure reference to Red Tick beer. Here is a clip of that reference.

I adopted that as my online name because I liked that it came from The Simpsons, but was very obscure rather than an obvious reference, and of course I am bold, refreshing, and something people can’t quite put their finger on.😁

Anyone else have a good one?

my new Brocock Atomic XR

ok so some thoughts and to clarify confusion. AOA has several variations of this gun and here are the differences:

$1700 Ranger XR: folding stock, suppressor, full picatinny top adapters + two small rails on both sides of the barrel
$1500 Atomic XR Pistol: none of the above, but comes with a power wheel thingy that attaches to the back when in pistol form, to adjust hammer spring I believe. includes a stock if you wanna convert to carbine (power wheel thingy will have to be removed)
$1000 Atomic XR Compact Carbine: exactly the same as above, but no power wheel thingy included. stock can be removed to convert to pistol but the back will have a little budget from the part that accepts the stock.

so for me the cheapest one is a no brainer because I dont need the folding stock (even though I ended up buying one later on impulse lol), nor a suppressor because I have several, and already have top picatinny rail adapter

first impressions
good build quality with a bit of heft even though its pretty light. doesnt balance well (front heavy) and I discovered its due to the rifle angle grip, so I put a hogue pistol angle AK grip and with the sight mark wraith it balances way better now. trigger was annoying because it was a decent break but it broke right in the middle so if you have short fingers it feels like a reach. im not a tinkerer but I was able to adjust the position screw to move the trigger back and relief tension on first stage adjustment and now its perfect but safety no longer works because of how much I moved the trigger back. I actually want it back a little more but then it won't cock.

what I would have changed: AR grip instead of AK grip, there's more options and standard fitment. cocking handle should be free spinning. picatinny on top instead of adapter.

AOA shot string average about 690fps with JSB jumbo 15.89 I think.

with JSB hades and a cheap chrono, QUICK testing gave me the following #s with side power wheel
high 680fps
medium 650fps
low 550fps

I just began my PCP journey earlier this year, sold a L2, AEA bolt action .30, and airforce .25

currently own this brocock, agt vixen, and snow peak pp750. based on my experience this brocock feels a little more rugged but less refined than my vixen, but I love how compact this is and because its cylinder and not bottle, the stock options are fun. however my vixen beats the brocock in terms of shot count. my plans are to squirrel under 20 yards so literally any PCP will work for me.

SOLD [SOLD] Brand New w/ Tags Eberlestock Cherry Bomb Pack (Grey/Orange)

Hello AGN:

I bought two of these awesome Eberlestock Cherry Bomb packs during Black Friday because I couldn't decide between two colors. After staring at them for a couple of weeks, I've decided on the Cobalt Blue pack and am letting this Grey/Orange pack go on to a new home. Great looking, well designed and extremely well made pack that is one of the best discreet carry packs you can buy (it fits a folded Leshiy 2 perfectly - which is why I bought it). It is brand new with original tags still attached and I can return it if needed but wanted to pass on the good Black Friday price to another member if anyone is interest.

Price is exactly what it cost me - which is $205 with local pickup (or add $15 to ship it anywhere in the continental US).

I've got plenty of references here so please feel free to check them on the Member Feedback forum prior to purchasing. Paypal Friends & Family payment is prefered (otherwise, please add 3.5% to cover the fees). Local pickup in the SF Bay Area is available as well.

Thanks!

Why the Panthera…

38BDBD58-B1E7-403D-8167-CEFA4D3734BF.jpeg

Just some thoughts…
As FX has stated this rifle is purpose built! What does that mean? Clearly I’m new to the Airgun World however I’ve learned a couple things about prs/nrl competition. I absolutely love my impacts but they are being heavily modified to shoot this discipline of competition. FX has recognized this and produced an awesome solution all be it a first Gen version. Some key components to precision rifle systems are balance and center of gravity. The new Panthera excels in these categories. The long arca rail is considered standard on any precision build and allows for various plates bipods weights and other accessories frequently used on a prs rifle. The low height over bore and center of gravity help facilitate less induced rifle cant in the system and easier maneuvering of small porthole props. The highly rigid barrel gives confidence you won’t have poi shift running into a barricade. Bottom line for me I can’t wait to get a production model in my hands and get out to the competitions but don’t take my word for it…

How hard is your head?

I consider myself pretty open minded. I’ve learned that a happy PCP life is much easier when you listen to the gun and don’t try to force it to be something it’s not. Of all my guns, I finally realized I was being hard headed with my Dreamtac Compact. From dual ports when they first came out to machining a piece so I could extend my shroud to install extra plenum space. To even chopping a liner and housing down to have a little longer barrel without having a too long barrel, I just kept being hard headed. Every DL Compact topic that would pop up, guys were wanting big gun power. I would talk them down to where I had mine, which was right on the ragged edge. Qball would always come along and tell the hard truth as to where the gun should be tuned. I knew it and I even had choked off settings with my TP wheel and hammer wheel to shoot light pellets but I refused to back the reg down. Finally I decided I might sell the gun. I have a 16gr .22 and I don’t need two. As I was looking over my barrels and bottles trying to figure out how I was going to sell the gun, I saw a tin of Walmart 14.3’s. It dawned on me that before I sell it I will back everything off and start from scratch with a 14.3 tune. My reg had been set at 140b within an hour of owning the gun and I never changed it. Was hoping the gun wouldn’t be traumatized when I did. I decided 800fps was where I wanted to shoot these pellets. After going through the process and getting to shoot a bunch of cheap pellets over the chronograph for a change, I wound up at 105b and around 810fps. The gun gets so many shots with the 300cc bottle that I went back to my 220cc bottle and still get over five magazines. Now the gun is even nicer with the smaller bottle. I am back to the original barrel length but still use my loaded shroud so I don’t have to screw a can on it. Now I have a gun that I can shoot cheap pellets with and not with a jacked up choked off tune. The bottom line is I really like this gun now because I quit being stubborn. Do we truly enjoy our guns if we are constantly tweaking on them trying to force them to do something? You might enjoy the process but are you really enjoying the gun? Thanks @qball, it finally sunk in. By the way. The gun tuned for 14.3’s outperforms the gun “turned down” for 14.3‘s by a long shot.

What do you think of this PCP design concept?

What do you think of this PCP design concept?

The B.A.M.A.C.H PCP Rifle
Below is totally made up. Just a concept I thought a few hours ago and wanted to share.

The B.A.M.A.C.H PCP Rifle Bolt And Mag Advancing Charging Handle Rifle
The best full gas and spring functioning full auto pcp rifle design is the Hatsan Blitz. Its a very simple an brilliant system to spit pellets full auto using no batteries as other pcp rifles have used in past. However the design has some limitations and drawbacks for its full auto capability. One drawback is that in order to cycle the semi/full auto function some of that precious gas pressure is used to perform that cycling function. It would be more efficient to use a differnt source of power to cycle the bolt. The second limitation is that the power source to advance pellets is within the mag itself. It would be nice to have a cycling power source outside of the mag. Having both of these concepts opens up the possablilites for belt driven mags, high capacity mags, and higher caliber pellets as well as increasing power per shot or increase in shot per fill in both semi and full auto function from a PCP rifle. The BAMACH pcp concept allows these possAbllities.
The B.A.M.A.C.H PCP is a design concept that advances both the bolt and the mag cycling using a single charge for multiple semi auto shots. The charging is done by a side charging handle much like the side charging handle of the AR. The One quick charge pull powers 20 rounds, 2 charge pulls power 40 rounds. The charge is stored with spring power that sits around the barrel. Each shot releases a bit of the spring charge to cycle the bolt and magazine. With this concept it is possible to have both full auto function with belt fed or mag fed pellets or slugs ( sig mpx style ). This design can offer firing of higher caliber pellets with high capacity. Sense the full auto does not rely on the gas pressure as the Blitz does it would also be possible to run a regulator and power adjustments with full auto function on lower pressures that what the Blitz can fire now.
The gun I picture in mind as a BAMACH PCP base model Hatsan Jet 2 PCP. What left of this concept to come to life is the secrete sauce of applying the spring function of the charging handle to power cycle both the belt drivin magazine and the bolt.
What say you?

Well, I think I have all the Impacts I need🤙

So, I just got this one in from The Pellet Shop last week for a quick grab backdoor coyote gun. It's an Impact M3 Compact in 30 cal, Titan 3-18x50, Accu-tac WB4 and DonnyFL Ronin. Absolute tac-driver! I may throw a lighter hammer in there in the near future.
The others, I've already posted about them. For backyard pesting I absolutely love the M3 Compact platform👍

SOLD Red Wolf HP .25 Walnut

Excellent condition, no scratches, dings etc - looks like it’s brand new. Well, one exception- I do not have the plastic Foster fill port dust cover.

Bought this not that long ago from Flintsack, here is his original post:

https://www.airgunnation.com/thread...-high-power-1450-00-50-shipped-conus.1277326/

He was not kidding about it being accurate, photos below show a full magazine (10) of 34 grain pellets I shot at 50 yards. And he clearly took very good care of it!

Thinning my modest air arsenal a bit to better reflect my shooting interests. Working toward mostly ~20 fpe in .177, with one ~30 fpe in .22, and one rifle of at least ~60 fpe in either .25 or .30. Not selling this one due to any shortcomings, the tiebreaker was brand- all my .177 are Daystate, so trying to keep some variety in the safe.

Comes with one battery & charger, one magazine, and one factory single shot tray. I do have the factory paperwork, but do not have the original box.

Asking exactly what I have in the rifle, $1500 shipped CONUS. Zelle has become my preferred way of payment, but can discuss other options. Not interested in trades.

Can send additional photos on request. PM me & I’ll get you my phone number so we can chat or video call if you’d like.

Loading single shot.177

I have an intrinsic tiny motor deficit in my hands from a cervical injury. This is an odd injury in that I can pick and grab big things easily BUT grabbing and loading a tiny .177 pellet often results in more pellets on the ground than in the gun.
I am also an observer of people and i have noticed many seasoned FT shooters putting pellets in their mouths 3-4 at a time until they load them one at a time into the breech. Hmm - lead in mouth hmmm? Age also affects these same motor skills.
I'm thinking there are many people who could benefit from a single tray loading system.
Has anyone discovered a simple way to deal with loading single shot trays for FT.
Yes I have magazines, but this is a specific problem I’m trying to solve.
The angle of a pellet pen isn’t very conducive to the shot tray either?
