Thermal optic, or a new rifle?

Hey guys

Well I am looking at a few offerings from AGM and trying to narrow it down to a specific model. BUT on the other hand I am also wanting to build a custom 22lr off of a RimX action from my local dealer. What would you guys do with a decision like this? Both would be fun and I am hoping used quite a bit, but both would serve a completely different purpose.

As much as I would like to get both of them, I am thinking my wife would string me up if I did that.

So what say you guys?

The Pellet Shop and AEA

Went and purchased the sized Medium 41mm hand guard from THE PELLET SHOP.
Makes this thing shine! Cerakoted some parts, changed the charging handle, longer barrel, no baffles, Donny Fl mounts directly to barrel, changed grip, made bolt action, polished the trigger and sear. Amazing what this thing can hit and hit hard.

Happy with my Feinwerkbau Collection

It all started when my Dad bought a new Beeman San Rafael Feinwerkbau 124 Sport Deluxe #44554 (1981/82) with a blue ribbon scope in 1982, when he passed in 2017 my mother passed his air rifle on to me. Having two sons I wanted to balance things out so I found another Beeman SanRafael Feinwerkbau 124 Sport Deluxe #15246 (1977/78), this one came with the JNC stamp. In November 2022 I was finally able to add the Feinwerkbau Model Sport #12400504 and rounded out the family collection in January 2023 by adding a hard to find Beeman San Rafael Feinwerkbau 127 Sport #30262 (1979/80), all are shooters. The 124 have new ARH seals and springs, I like the Sport just the way it is and I plan on installing new seals and spring from ARH in the 127 this spring.

Uragan 2 600 cal .22 with several slugs/pellets

So, finally I had the time to test my Uragan 2 600 5.5mm (.22) in a mostly windless day with several ammunition I had laying around. The gun is completly factory. The reg should be stable by now and the barrel leaded (500+ shots taken).
Here you can see 8 different kind of ammunition, 10 fast shots each (i'm not that good shooter). The best 2 (one pellet and one slug) were shot again (12 each) with more attention and "measured". You can see the results in the pictures. All shots were from an improvised table with sand bags. The distance was around 40-42meters (~44-47yds).

Really pleased with some of the groups. The JSB heavies were great on this gun and more reliable then the slugs, even though it really likes the 21gr H&N HP slugs. The 25gr H&N were awful, as were the Hades. I guess its too hot for the Hades.
If my chinese chronometer is anything to go by, its shooting at around 51Joules (38 Ft/lb).
I think I wont be messing with the reg, I'm happy with power and shot count. I use the gun for some fun on the bench and hunting. Now I'm really unsure if I should just zero it for the JSB heavies or the slugs. I wont be shooting longer then 100yds, but I'll have to try both at longer distance to make my mind.

Any question feel free to ask!

The new springer

Thanks to all the springer vets here. I had 2 other posts regarding brand and caliber choices. The result is a Weihrauch HW97k in 22 cal. When it arrives and I run some rounds through it I’m sure to have questions. One off the bat is that I have read these calibers have a somewhat large barrel bore in relation to most common 22 ammo. To those that shoot the 22, what pellets have produced well for you?

Why did I come back to springers?

It started simply enough, I needed a air rifle for some pest control, having a large garden, a small orchard and a large blueberry plot down by the lake. Continuing to use the 22 lr was just too risky, with the increasing numbers of people and homes in the area. I had grown up with Spring guns, first hunts for squirrels. My first season at age 10, hunting alone, I had 21 Squirrel tails pinned to a board by seasons end, using an old BSA spring gun. A pretty proud young hunter!! But as soon as I could, I graduated to a .22 lr, then the deer rifle and never looked back at air guns. Now 57 more seasons have come and gone. I began researching air rifles and was kind of blown away by the whole PCP evolution or perhaps revolution might be a better term. Amazing guns, beautiful guns, stunning ballistics. But I was drawn back to my roots, the simplicity of the springer. If I needed more I had it covered with rimfire and centerfire weapons. I like to reload for my deer rifle, I enjoy muzzleloading, I tie my own trout flies. Something about a gun simple enough that I can tear it down, replace a seal or a spring and carry on, very satisfying, enriching the experience. And I wanted a classic, something I could pass on to my daughter, who has been a lifelong shooter and hunter.
When I picked up the little HW30s I was transported back to my youth. I honestly can't remember having so much fun shooting in a very long time. I couldn't stop smiling!! Everything about the experience, from the look and feel of the gun, the action of cocking it, loading it, the sound of the shot, was a living memory, a reenactment that has me falling hard for spring guns. Glad to be back, feels like home.

PCP Rifle  SOLD LH EVOL Paradigm .22 Walnut Thumbhole (AS NEW!!!)

I hate to even think about selling this one but I will list it and see if any of you lefty's have an interest.

LH Air Arms EVOL Paradigm .22 rifle. Purchased new for AOA 2-3 months ago. It is a piece of art as far as I'm concerned and it shoots amazing. I have it shooting 18.1 gr at like 850 FPS for an insane number of shots per fill, approximately 90. I think this is the 2nd LH Paradigm that hit US soil.

This gun is as MINT and MINT can be. It looks just like when I took it out of the box. I have the original box and papers. I don't have to sell it but my American Air Arms .22 mini is getting most of my shooting time.

I will take NEW PRICE of $1800.00 for it shipped to the lower 48. This doesn't include the scope or bipod. Feel free to PM me or text me at 405-664-4695 if you have any questions. It's an amazing air rifle. I have many transactions on this forum and not a single issue with any of them. Thanks.
