Favorite Accurate Dependable High Shot Count .22

I find myself daydreaming about the AGT Uragan 2 with a 600mm barrel in a carbon fiber stock and it is definitely on my radar… but before I commit to spending $2k I figure I would be wise to ask opinions from my fellow airgun enthusiast.
In my case it will be used primarily in my backyard for a combination of plinking and target shooting with a maximum available range that can potentially exceed 100 yards
What would be your personal top pick recommendation for a quality high shot count accurate dependable .22?

Protecting the Butt Pad

The two biggest concerns I have with storing my guns is rust and theft. Therefore, I store them upright in a humidity controlled gun safe. When storing a springer and others upright some issues can occur. One of them is long term damage to the butt pad. A good example of this would be the famous HW55. Storing it upright will permanently damage the butt pad. Make what is called “dog ears”. This is when the outer portions of the pad hit the floor first and with the weight of the gun the pad actually deforms. This picture is an example of the pad undamaged. For soft and old, more vulnerable pads, I make a custom platform shaped to that certain pad. Then I use the hook side of Velcro and stick it to the bottom of the platform. When it hits the carpet in the safe it stays put. Each gun has its own spot. With a very old pad that I worry about even sitting on the pad itself, I place two 1/4 dowels in the platform that line up to the screw holes in the pad. Now the gun is sitting on the steel screws and the pad is at rest. I know many don’t use upright storage but here in the South with humidity at 100% it‘s a must.
So what is your method?

RTI Prophet 2 Performance (Full Review) Shooting JSB Knockout Slugs 1000+ FPS

yy6.JPG

Here is a quick review of the RTI Prophet 2 with the Perfomance package from Talon Tunes. This gun was tuned to shoot JSB Knockout 25.39gr airgun slugs at 1010 feet per second. This gun is multi caliber and easy to tune. In this video I shoot the slugs out to 76 yards. Gotta love the power and accuracy that this PCP rifle delivers with the JSB slugs. Good times! Thanks for watching! -Nate

Fear of obsessive-compulsive

Newbie here and just wondering if being obsessive-compulsive is an affliction I will acquire if I spend to much time on AGN? I look at the lists of guns some of you fine folks have, they read like a short novel! :giggle:Seriously, just want to say I appreciate the great information I have been finding and the helpful attitudes of so many of you. A breath of fresh air seldom found on the interweb.

Hello! New member here.

Hello All,

I'm from Minnesota and new to PCP air rifles. I was recently gifted two pcp air rifles and a couple of other items. I was browsing around the web and came upon this forum and decided to join to learn more about the world of PCP air rifles and the two rifles I received. Looking forward to learning more about PCP rifles and meeting the folks here.

Not happy. Dive shop refused to fill my tank today.

Just needed to vent a little. Ha, Ha.
Dive shop, one of only two here, refused to fill my tank because they did not have the right fitting to attach to the tank,
He said if I wanted to purchase it, he would use it to fill the tank. But since I am apparently the first person ever to want a SCBA tank filled
he did not see the value in purchasing the fitting.
He just needed a simple male to female foster fitting.
I just want to shoot my new daystate while I am waiting for the YH to arrive and get it set up.
I suppose I will try dive shop number 2 tomorrow.
So much for customer service.

I feel better.

Hawke Optics: Are the you kidding me? UPDATE-UPDATE-UPDATE

After getting advice about how to "fix" the really hard to turn reistat on my Air Max 30 compact, I went at it. Bad idea. Lacking the proper spanner wrench, I improvised. Bad idea. Result was yes it was much easier to click through the brightness levels, but it wouldn't light up. I had 3 choices; use my scope without illumination, keep my mouth shut and buy another scope, ( saving myself from deserved ridicule) or fess up and send it to Hawke for repair. Ultimately I swallowed my pride and called Hawke. I confessed my sins and explained how I broke the scope and made clear it was 100% my fault. I would pay for the repair. Well, this morning I received an email from Hawke. They said they were sending me a new scope. Well I called them to make sure they understood I broke it, not their fault. Yep, they knew but said they were warranting it. Unbelievable; Hawke warranties stupid. And the cherry 🍒 on top is noone criticized me for my foolishness. Thank you Hawke Optics, you are amazing. Bill and Addi.
☆☆☆☆UPDATE ☆☆☆☆
Got my replacement scope today. Box seemed a bit big. Inside was a brand new, in the box, 6-24x50 AirMax 30 compact with all the accessories. In addition they sent a nice Hawke Optics decal, a beverage sleeve (neoprene), and a Hawke cap!!!! Black. All for a scope I damaged. Feeling kinda humble about now. They definitely crossed the "good customer service " line into the "unbelievable customer service " arena. Bill and Addi.

177 vs 22 cal for springers

In spring or gas piston, is 177 louder or quieter than 22 cal? Basically does either one have a louder "bark" to it, or are they pretty much the same. Part 2 , which has a farther effective range? I'm thinking 177 since it's smaller surface area from same power , however less mass will drag it down faster, so which is it? or are the 2 calibers the same?

NLA FX IMPACT MKII SNIPER .22 700MM BARREL

Slowing down, thanks to AOA

I was fortunate enough to pick up the JW80MK2 .22 thumbhole walnut recently from AOA. The day after, I called AOA with the intent to purchase a used scope and found out there is another JW that came in a large collection that was recently purchased. Darren confirms it is a Silvertop and looks new with the exception of the minor safe handling mark or two. I had zero intent of buying another nor did Darren intend to sell it at that specific time but we worked out a win-win agreement. Love it when that happens!

There is nothing fast about these rigs or the shooting experience. 3 cocking strokes that require focus and time, open sidelever to bring back the bolt for direct single pellet loading… The Leupold scope tolerances are supremely tight and are slow turning. The Silver Top got a Leupold 36X BR Silver up top and an uncanny natural POA is required to acquire targets while in a seated FT position, it takes time to adjust the AO to fine tune focus (locking ring optional) , then superimpose the thinnest crosshairs I’ve ever seen over the POA…It takes time; that’s not a complaint, it simply is what it is.

Enough words, some images:

I’m grateful beyond belief to own these two bespoke, hand-made rifles by the late John Whiscombe. I like how I enter a certain mindset where I’m required to focus on the moment; to marvel and appreciate every detail and procedure involved in the multi-step shooting process.

Below is an in-depth Test Report penned by Pete Reiff “The Whiscombe JW-80 FB MK II” (link here: https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/read/31607584/jw80mk2-us-airgunreviewpdf-whiscombe):

Thanks for looking, and special thanks to AOA for coming through with these epic beauties!

Trying to slow down…and enjoy😉

AEA will not semi!

I am currently having issues with my new AEA HP SS .25, and the gun does not semi. To fire the weapon, I have to set the bolt continuously; on top of this, the Mag does not feed the rounds. Has anybody else had this issue? I hope it is a human error because I don't want to part ways and wait, even though the pellet shop sent it in one day.

( It is not the pellet shop's fault the retailer sells them, so I'm not upset with them. )
