Can a high end scope help make up for lack of experience and skill when hunting pest animals?

I'm sort of new to hunting pests, where hitting your target where you want to is really important. Not only did I get a gun with great accuracy, I ordered the match grade pellets. Of course I'm doing research and also practicing, but I'm still wondering if a very high end scope is just nicer to use, or if it would make up for a lack of skill and experience and help with accuracy?

Compressor Price vs Performance

I think the best bang for the buck will be the Coltri MCH6 compressor. I don't want to buy a Yong Heng every year and I refuse to rebuild them. The Alkin is obviously the Rolls Royce but the Coltri seems to offer so much dollar for dollar. Especially at their current "close-out" price.

Going the other way… Atomic XR #2

My PCP journey started with a Gamo Urban and a hand-pump. My second PCP was a Brocock Compatto . Both guns were astounding to me in what I could do with them. But I got tired of pumping them both and purchased an SCBA along with a Stickman adapter. Then the true cost of traveling to get that SCBA filled? Led me to a HPA compressor and then a bottle gun, a Bantam Sniper HR. This quickly became a costly, slippery slope… I got into Airguns to shoot inexpensively, what happened? Enter the Atomic XR in March 2022 and it blows my mind. 17 FPE of outsized power, in a small, light package, it is a pleasure to handle this little beastie. Hundreds of pests down, tons of plinking, great groups out to 50 yards with CPHPs. The Atomic XR has proven itself to me over and over again. That it is so easily pumped by hand? A big plus, no compressors or bottles needed. Since its arrival all my other Airguns just sit. So I’m back to square one. My Compatto and Bantam Sniper HR are on their way to AOA. They have been traded in for an Atomic XR “We the Plinkers” package. My two Atomic XR should keep me satisfied for the long run. It feels good to not be dependent on my HPA compressor or, SCBAs. Yes, I will continue to use my compressor. But when it finally dies, and can’t be rebuilt? I’ll just continue hand pumping as long as I can. I use my Atomic XR as if bow hunting, I get close. Small game and pests, sub 50 yards in good conditions are toast. I came to PCPs because more “power” (.22 rimfire) meant “less” shooting opportunities. Then the same thing happened in my situations with 30 FPE PCPs, too powerful, even at the lowest TP setting to use inside buildings or around livestock and equipment. We all use Airguns as we will, this is my journey. Did I happen to mention I really love my Atomic XR?

P.S. The Compatto and Bantam Sniper also had hundreds of kills on rats and starlings. Both fine guns, I just want smaller and lighter as I age.

New case

Got a deal on a new case, so even if it is a tight fit for my Vulcan 3 at least, i still pulled the trigger on it.
The brand are Negrini and look very familiar beside the case for my maverick.

IMG_20230207_171243.jpg

The tight fit dont bother me so much, its better than the soft bag i have the maverick in now as it outgrew its original case, also just need transport to and from my car, so that should do just fine.

Now i just need my maverick back from repairs where it have been for 2 months now.
A bit long if you ask me for something so simple as a broken cocking handle, but hey Sweden are also just the next country over from here, or in layman's terms 173 stone throws away.

Thermal optic, or a new rifle?

Hey guys

Well I am looking at a few offerings from AGM and trying to narrow it down to a specific model. BUT on the other hand I am also wanting to build a custom 22lr off of a RimX action from my local dealer. What would you guys do with a decision like this? Both would be fun and I am hoping used quite a bit, but both would serve a completely different purpose.

As much as I would like to get both of them, I am thinking my wife would string me up if I did that.

So what say you guys?

The Pellet Shop and AEA

Went and purchased the sized Medium 41mm hand guard from THE PELLET SHOP.
Makes this thing shine! Cerakoted some parts, changed the charging handle, longer barrel, no baffles, Donny Fl mounts directly to barrel, changed grip, made bolt action, polished the trigger and sear. Amazing what this thing can hit and hit hard.

Happy with my Feinwerkbau Collection

It all started when my Dad bought a new Beeman San Rafael Feinwerkbau 124 Sport Deluxe #44554 (1981/82) with a blue ribbon scope in 1982, when he passed in 2017 my mother passed his air rifle on to me. Having two sons I wanted to balance things out so I found another Beeman SanRafael Feinwerkbau 124 Sport Deluxe #15246 (1977/78), this one came with the JNC stamp. In November 2022 I was finally able to add the Feinwerkbau Model Sport #12400504 and rounded out the family collection in January 2023 by adding a hard to find Beeman San Rafael Feinwerkbau 127 Sport #30262 (1979/80), all are shooters. The 124 have new ARH seals and springs, I like the Sport just the way it is and I plan on installing new seals and spring from ARH in the 127 this spring.

Uragan 2 600 cal .22 with several slugs/pellets

So, finally I had the time to test my Uragan 2 600 5.5mm (.22) in a mostly windless day with several ammunition I had laying around. The gun is completly factory. The reg should be stable by now and the barrel leaded (500+ shots taken).
Here you can see 8 different kind of ammunition, 10 fast shots each (i'm not that good shooter). The best 2 (one pellet and one slug) were shot again (12 each) with more attention and "measured". You can see the results in the pictures. All shots were from an improvised table with sand bags. The distance was around 40-42meters (~44-47yds).

Really pleased with some of the groups. The JSB heavies were great on this gun and more reliable then the slugs, even though it really likes the 21gr H&N HP slugs. The 25gr H&N were awful, as were the Hades. I guess its too hot for the Hades.
If my chinese chronometer is anything to go by, its shooting at around 51Joules (38 Ft/lb).
I think I wont be messing with the reg, I'm happy with power and shot count. I use the gun for some fun on the bench and hunting. Now I'm really unsure if I should just zero it for the JSB heavies or the slugs. I wont be shooting longer then 100yds, but I'll have to try both at longer distance to make my mind.

Any question feel free to ask!
