Handling .177 pellets with bad mitts and eyes...tips and tricks please

I'd like to get a .177 but have such a hard time handling pellets I'm leaning towards .22 unless someone has some great tips for loading.
Currently my only .177 loading experience is loading my 1950's single shot Sears & Roebuck Daisy.
I feel like loading a magazine might be easier but am not sure about that.
Thanks for any input.

Traditional Rifle  NLA .22 Weihrauch HW80 - tuned - better than new

Making way for the next airgun project, I am putting up for sale my Weihrauch HW80 in ,22. It has been very carefully and patiently tuned utilizing a Vortek PG 3 HO Kit. The test and performance results have been included below for your review. Its favorite pellet is the JSB Hades.

This rifle is in nearly perfect condition. It has likely had less than a tin of pellets through it from my indoor range only. I tuned and polished the trigger. I have the iron sights to include with it.

This rifle is extremely accurate for the power level it is putting out in a springer. The shot and cocking cycles are very smooth. This would make an idea backyard pesting rifle.

I am selling for basically the cost of the rifle and the tuning components, with no recovery of all of the tuning work. Total price including shipping is $730 within the continental US, PayPal F&F, or add 3% for regular PayPal. The Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 FFP scope on the Sports Match vertically adjustable rings are not included, but could be purchased for an additional $400. I am not interested in trades or lower offers.

You can check my ratings, but I believe nearly everyone that has purchased one of my tuned rifles has been very satisfied.

Thanks for looking!

First PCP and weird issue

Hi.
After decades of springers, I decided to get into PCP's.
So to start, I bought 2 Akelas, one in .177 and one in .22 for my son and I for some pest control work we do. They fit the budget for the type of environment we work in doing this work.
The .22 remains unfired so far. Maybe today we will get it set up.
But after only around 70 rounds through the .177, I experienced a very odd (to me) problem. I've already contacted Benjamin via their customer service portal, but I don't see hearing back for a day or three.
Quite simply:
When the trigger is pulled, the rifle does nothing this started around shot 60ish. However, it does fire flawlessly on the second pull of the trigger. I would like to explain what the trigger pull is like on the first and second pull now, but it's different. Like it doesn't stage. But I'm so new to this rifle, I may be totally wrong.
I have scoured the interwebz looking for any clue on what could be causing it. I can't find any brand or model where this is even closely discussed. The rifle is going back for sure, but I'd like to know the cause. Because that's how learning gets done.

And while I'm here, I have to say....... I'm very happy to have found this forum. There is so much good info on here and what looks to be some very dedicated and insightful members.

Leshiy 2 pistol build

I posted this in the custom pics thread and am breaking it off for some more details here.

This is a pistol that I’m in the process of completing. It functions fine but I’ve not had a chance to really get into the tuning yet.

It weighs 2.7lbs and has an 8” barrel. The action doesn’t open for reloading due to the air supply from regulator running to the plenum. The mag has the axle removed and a bushing installed and the action has a retractable axle that’s operated by the lever on the side. This allows mag to slide in/out without opening action.

Here’s some pics.

.177 best weight for accuracy

i have a Diane 350 magnum in .177 caliber. i bought the variety pack with different pellet weights. rifle did not like the light fast pellets and didn't show any real accuracy until i tried the copper coated Crossman 10.6 gr. they were shooting .75 at 50 yards. being new to air rifles in the 21st century I'm not sure if that's good or bad. The H&N hornets shot about the same at 10.3 gr's. i use the rifle mainly on squirrels in my pecan trees.

bought the wrong scope, I think

Arken Optics SH4 GEN2 6-24X50 Rifle Scope FFP VPR Illuminated Reticle with Zero Stop 34mm Tube

I hope this scope is clear at 10 yards, I like the 34 mm tube but I thought I was getting the light version but looking closer I do not see a L in there on the SH L 4 , All set to buy the Athlon 2x12-42 Helos and I go and buy the Arken, Just a brain fart I could send it back and get the Helos down the road when my refund shows up, Or I can just suffer and have a very heavy Huben 22,, Got my Crimson Trace 5x25-56 on my Huben now, Love the scope but its heavy 3 to 4 LBS if I was guessing. I so wanted to keep the Huben light, But this gun is like AT&T its got a reach to it long range,
Mike

Barrel cleaning vs Chronograph

I'm not real smart or educated so take the following with that grain of salt.

I have an old springer BSA Supersport in 22cal. I've owned it a long time and never cleaned the barrel. Decided to chrono it, clean barrel and chrono again. I used Crosman Primere hollow point hunting pellets that are not labeled but assume they are in the 15gr range.

After a few shots to stabilize I got the following string 596,632,630,626,624 for a 621 average with a 36fps spread.

Cleaned barrel with solvent and vigorous brass brushing. Ran many dry patches thru her to try and remove any lubricating effects left behind.

Went back out and shot a few shots that started high and quickly came back down. Removing any applied lubricants? Then recorded the following string 615,615,617,616,620 for a 616 average with a 5fps spread.

The first shot on the dirty barrel is an outlier and if ignored brings the spread back down from 36 to 8fps.

Dirty barrel was faster in this case but slightly less consistent. Possible (probable) issue that could contribute to dirty being faster is that I shot it a few days ago with vicks vapo rub packed in the tail end of some pellets. Tried to erase this issue with a dozen or so shots before recording the initial readings. It was slowing down over those first dozen shots and when it seemed to stabilize, that's when I started writing em down.

Thoughts?

Which pellet weight?

Hey all. I'm fairly new to air gunning and wanted to see what the popular opinion is on finding one pellet / weight to run. I have a .25 fx maverick sniper on the way and want to purchase pellets ahead of time. From what I gathered during my research is that this gun likes FX/JSB 25.39 and 34 grain pellets. My question is which of the two should I stock up on if I were going to tune it once for that weight? I will mostly be shooting paper at 50 - 100 yards but may take the occasional pest shot when the opportunity arises. My instinct tells me to go with the 34 grain pellets but I would like to hear everyone's thoughts that are familiar with these pellets / weights doing similar shooting. Thanks!

Huben  All Things HUBEN K1 - Master Thread

In researching the gun before and since purchasing I have not seen an informative and ongoing Huben K1 thread on AGN. If I missed it please point it out. If there isn’t one, I figure now is as good of a time as any to start one.

I’ll start with a photo of my 2020 Huben K1 .22 caliber with a Vector Veyron 4-16x44 FFP IR scope.

All groups pictured were shot with .22 JSB Jumbo 15.89 grain diabolo pellets. The point of these photos is to demonstrate what the gun is capable of in the hands of a regular person. I am not much for shooting paper targets outside of preparing and staying sharp for hunting. I’m not a benchrest shooter. Your results may be better or worse.

With that said let’s get into this thread. If you wish to share your photos or videos of schematics, your Huben K1, custom work, accessories, tuning, or modifications please feel free to do so. Let’s ask detailed questions to garner answers that will benefit other Huben K1 owners. Current and former Huben owners if you’ll be so gracious as to contribute your knowledge and experience it would be greatly appreciated.

SEE POST #17 FOR INFORMATIVE LINKS ON THE HUBEN K1.

Name your best off the shelf PCP

In the modern PCP market place there are very few rifles that you can purchase of the shelf without the need to spend a fortune accessorising them to bring them up to speed.Models that spring to mind are the Evol Paradigm, Edgun Lelya/R5M and Taipan Veterans. If you own one of these all you have to do is buy a scope, scope rings and ammunition and you good to go. Compare this to the FX brand, I own two and have gone down the rabbit hole of accessorising and getting the latest and greatest new thing to help you shoot better.I understand the application dictates what you add on i.e bench rest or hunting but I still feel more manufacturers are focussing on the aftermarket purchases at the expense of the actual rifle itself.

Please share your thoughts and let me know what your best off the shelf PCP is.

Moron With Replica

So it appears that some "pillar of the community" was arrested the other day in the area near where I work in the Catskill region of NY. What was he arrested for? Well he was walking around with a replica of a powder burner. I will use this term very loosely "assault rifle" replica. Turns out it was a "BB gun". Its bad enough in NY as it is, but to go around pointing something like this at drivers bye is a whole other level of stupid (IMHO). he lucky he wasnt shot by the police. Im sure if he had pointed it at them, they would have fired on him and rightly so. I defy most anyone to distinguish between "real or fake" from 10 ft away, especially in the moment. There's not much we can do about stupid and unfortunately he has probably reproduced.
