48 end of the line

Well, I couldn’t drive past AGS knowing I had a hold. Walked out with a Diana 48 .22. and a 2x7x30 Air Max. I have a N-tec waiting for a trigger assembly. Someone’s return. Be a while before it’s ready.
But that’s it. No more guns. Unless an old classic.
IMG_6208.jpeg
IMG_6212.jpeg
I like the butt end with contrast. Jacking it is similar to the 54.
IMG_6213.jpeg
Decent looking rifle. Hits like a mule kicks.
IMG_6209.jpeg
Not a fan of plastic union of course.
IMG_6210.jpeg
And this front sight has got cheese all over it. I’m hoping to remove the sore sight.
I’m going to put a scope on this Bazooka. Another hard hitting Diana. Should be a fun rifle.
Are there many 48’s out there?

PCP Rifle  SOLD Wildcat Mk3 BT - You pick the Caliber and Set Up - If you've been wanting a WC BT this is the deal you've been waiting for!

I have a couple Wildcat Mk3 BT's and I've decided to let one go because I never shoot it (too many guns, not enough time! Lol). It's currently set up in .30cal with a 600mm .30cal Barrel w/Superior Liner and 580cc bottle. that definitely lays the smack down with 44g JSB/FX pellets. But, not everyone wants a .30cal so I will set this gun up in any FX caliber you choose in any configuration ( Compact 500mm w/300cc bottle, Standard 600mm w/480cc bottle, or Sniper 700mm w/580cc bottle). Gun is in PERFECT like new condition with ZERO issues.. It just plain shoots lights out. Gun comes with a couple of "Custom" features we can discuss when you reply. Gun comes with one FX Sideshot magazine in the caliber you choose and includes a Hard Case with Custom Logo on it. I'm asking $1550 shipped/insured. Paypal F&F or Zelle/Venmo also accepted. I have additional Barrels, Probes, Bottles, Magazines in just about every caliber, length, etc for additional $$ if you so choose. I also have several VERY NICE Scopes (Hawke and Vector) available for an additional cost if you're interested. Pics and contact information will be sent to SERIOUS replies. I don't want to trade for anything, I have everything I want/need already. I promise you the buyer will be extremely happy with whatever configuration they go with.

Thanks for looking.. Hope to hear from you soon.

FX Crown MK2 ?

Hi Folks
This is my first post.
I am looking at buying a very good condition FX Crown Mk2. .22 The advert says Mk2 but I am a bit suspicious.
The engraving on the body does not say MK2. I believe it may be a "compact" version.
It has the black gauges and the later barrel removal screws on the side as opposed to the top and the picatinny rails.
I read somewhere online that there may have been an in between Mk1 and Mk2 model, Gen 2 that has some of the Mk2 mods but not all.
Some had the larger plenum and some did not. It would be nice to know before parting with the cash.
I would rather buy a new Mk2 than an older model if that makes sense.
Can any of the FX gurus throw any light on this? Is it possible to check using the serial number?

The Gauntlet2, Bench rest @28 yards.

Some of you may know that I have Gauntlet2 that I have been disapointed with since I've owned it. I have allready returned it, but Umerex was happy with its accuracy, and sent it back to me. I just thought that a rifle aught to be able to out shoot my pistol? To fix my problem I purchased an Fx Crown Mk2, and kept this guy to learn on.
I want to mention that my G2 is not representative of all G2's out there. Some folks have great shooters.
Right now Im intensionaly shooting coarse ammo in an attempt to break in the chamber chamfer, which didn't exist when I got it. This idea was passed along by someone who knows Gauntlets. Besides I'm ejoying it, and the guns is improving.
I had purchased a couple cans of Copper thinking that those should be harder than Crosman's. One of the tins shot awful, and the other shot as good as i've seen this gun shoot.
The awful ones were Excite Spitzkugel's Giving me a group of 4.5 inches at 28 yards, 153 shots
The others were H&N Baracuda Power. They shot about an inch and half, with most centered and fliers around the perimeter. The Baracuda's were good enough that I could get off the paper and do some plinking.
Next I'll shoot all of my Crossman and Benjamin's, then clean the barrel meticulously, and shoot some JSB 18gr, and see if we're making progress.
The gun is in its best shape at the moment with a nice trigger, and cocking without missing, you know, when you have to pull the mag to prevent a double load? It hasn't been doing that any more.
I'm still having to hit the bolt with my palm to seat the pellets though, but it is getting easier.

Here's the target

The Excite group in the middle, and the Barracuda's lower left. They had some pretty good pop on those Co2 cartridges. Took a primer out of a shotgun hull, and all kinds of other amall targets.

FX and Walnut

I saw some posts on Facebook and some people put together a Dreamline and another rifle with Minelli stocks. Wow, those sure are purty. Hey FX-how about making some walnut stocks available for more of your rifles such as the Wildcat. I have or have had 7 different FX rifles, but all except my Crown laminate were plumbers parts guns. They shoot well but I wouldn't take them to the prom.

Red Wolf for PRS? Yes!

This gun started as a midnight blue .22 Red Wolf HP that I won at EBR 2019 for winning Sportsman Class 100Y BR. I shot it in competition in 2020 and 2021 at 100Y BR events and the gun did well, even posting the overall high score at RMAC 2021 of 229-8x. I’ve called the gun Bleu ever since I got it.

IMG_3102.jpeg

But I wasn’t happy with the ammo after JSB shifted from shallow cavity to deep cavity in their 25.4 grain Monster Redesigns. So, for 100Y BR I shifted to .25 Heavy and bought a new .25 RW for 100Y BR - and finished 3rd at EBR 2022.

So I’ve recently gotten into NRL-22 and positional shooting. And what better way to do it than with a Red Wolf in a PRS stock? It still shoots RDMs very well at 975 fps, and I’ll be testing some slugs this weekend. I’m hoping the Altaros 32.3 grain at 900 fps will be the magic ticket, but that’s to be seen. The gun balances perfectly, and of course with that trigger how can you go wrong? Thanks so much to Rob and AoA for providing that awesome red chassis! More to follow on slug tuning…
Looks like Bleu has “transitioned” to Red. 🙄

FT Range Cards for Springer and PCP

This was surprising when done.

My tune kit for the HW97K came today, was able to put it in and run a couple hundred pellets through. Zeroed it at 30 yards. Velocity was 819 ft/ps with JSB 10.34.

Ran the info through a ballistics program for a range card. Will verify tomorrow. This was a new program to me so also ran my PCP used for FT to compare to the old program. When both were printed out they are almost identical. Both have the same scope a Hawke Airmax 4-16 old one. Really surprised me in a pleasant way.

Stretching my new HW50S's legs out

Recently I purchased an HW50S in .177 from PA. During the break in phase at 10 yards I used Iron sights at the pellet trap.
I did not enjoy that in low light and knew they wouldn't suffice with my 4 eyes and longer distances, so I bought a BSA 3-9X40 AO Scope from Optics Planet.
I mounted the scope as soon as it arrived and the groups tightened up combined with the seasoning of the barrel.
Took her out to the Conservation Club range on the 4th of July figuring no one would be there. Wrong, a dad was on the 50 shooting his air gun his two chatty 9-11 y/o sons were firing some cheap Chinese bb guns and were happy to be hitting paper at the 25 yard pistol range. Soon though I had the range to myself and this is when we really stretched out the 50s for a true test.

I shot 12 different pellets (10 per pellet) at 10 meters from 7.87 to 10.65 grains. My best groups were with the JSB Diabolo Exact 8.44 gr, H&N Field Target Trophy's at 8.64 gr and the RWS SuperDomes at 8.3 grains. One pellet I will not be using is the JSB Hades 10.34 gr due to loose fit as I lost several during the loading phase when closing the breach. I crushed one pellets skirt during closing and managed to get it out simply by elevating the barrel.
Question: On the H&N Barracuda Green (lead free) at 6.64 gr it states "for PCP only". Is this OK to use on Springers?

My next time out I will be getting out the chrony and then taking her out to 25 yards and maybe 50.
So far I am impressed with the HW50S and I find it a joy to shoot even with the extra left arm strain.

𖦏 Huben GK1 Pistol: .22cal -vs.- .25cal: for Hollow Point Expansion

🔘 Huben GK1 Pistol 🔘

🔸.22cal vs. .25cal🔸

Hollow Point Expansion

for Close and Mid Range Pesting

The GK1 pistol is a fascinating piece of equipment, in that such a small thing has so much power, and is semi-auto!

I don't have the funds, but I have to have a goal to save up, so.... —
to help me in my decision process which caliber, I did a little ballistic comparison of

.22cal vs. .25cal —

so see which caliber would give me
expanding hollow point performance
for close to mid range pesting

(rats, squirrels, pigeons, etc.).

■ The most important condition for hollow points to expand on impact is their impact velocity (IV).
Assuming the lead is reasonably soft (below the CPHP hardness), HP usually will expand well at 800fps impact velocity (IV).
At 750fps IV many still do expand some.
At 700fps IV some still do expand some.
Below that all bets are off (until I have ran more terminal ballistic test 😊).

Here are the impact velocity results ChairGun spit out for me:

Huben GK1. .22cal vs. .25cal. Impact Velocity, with Labels.jpg

🟠 Discussion of the results:
● At 10 yard ratting range
the .22cal Polymag clearly produces a much higher impact velocity (850fps), virtually guaranteeing hollow point expansion.
The others all start out below 800, though because of their higher BC they don't loose as much velocity on their way out to 10y, so they all hit the rats between 750 to 780fps. I would definitely expect HP expansion with the .25 Polymag.

● At 25 yard mid range pesting the picture changes. Now the .22cal Polymag (due to its low BC) has shed velocity much quicker than both caliber slugs. These three now all impact with nearly the same IV of 750 to 770fps. ➔ HP expansion is still likely, with the .25cal probably expanding more due to its larger impact surface.
The .25 Polymag is down to 700 IV, and HP expansion will be less and/or less likely.

🟠 Preliminary Conclusion
(a) For close range ratting
the .22cal seems to be the better choice, considering that it would give significantly more shots per fill.

(b) For mid range pesting the .22 pellet and slug are about even with the .25 slug. Which would give an edge to the .25 slug as it will have more impact energy.
However, if the shots are angled upwards (birds in trees), I could't use slugs — due to their high BC they would fly far and hit much harder than a low BC pellet!

(c) Another consideration are the ages-ago announced and still not delivered FX SLULLETS (or FX PELLUGS).
From the photos they are slugs, comparatively light, and with a huge hollow point. If they ever arrive at production status, these will be very light slugs that are highly expanding, and that will have a much higher impact velocity in .22cal than in .25cal, resulting in more HP expansion.
So, again, .22cal seems to be better for this scenario.

(d) The much higher shotcount of the .22 is also an important consideration — as ratting will quickly empty the magazine — and the tiny air reservoir!

🟠 QUESTIONS
I have the same power numbers that you all have from the different videos and sales pages.
.22cal: they say 4-33FPE
.25cal: they say 4-38FPE

❓Does that seem a rather small difference between the two calibers, only 5FPE more when going up to .25cal?
❓Or is the 33FPE for .22cal a bit optimistic (since their shot count example used 23FPE)?

It seems like the GK1 pistol in .22cal has typical PCP rifle power.
But in .25cal is is rather underpowered in comparison to PCP rifles.
❓Is this fair to say?

Matthias

Hunting / Pesting Permissions…

I must confess that “all” my permissions came through my wife. She being more of a social butterfly, got to know many of the locals in our community before me. I was fortunate that for a while I had two dairies within minutes of my home. But alas, they are no more. Just found out my sweet wife has some colleagues whose relatives own a dairy. It’s further away, but an opportunity nonetheless. Am hoping to get some “active dairy” action before the end of summer. Am desperately wanting to unleash my BRKs. Wish me luck gentlemen and ladies. Never would have thought that my pesting opportunities would come through my girl.🤓🙀🙈🐀🐿️🐦⬛🦫🐀🦝🐁

Pathfinder XR, six, five shot groups at 40 yards

No cherry picking, just as I shot them after work today. Bipod front fist as rear, singly loaded. As you can see groups 1-3 and 6, each had a friggin’ trigger induced flyer. Group 5, I don’t know what happened.🙀Am hoping that after a couple tins that the trigger lightens up. It’s much heavier than on my Atomic XR.

Best bang for the buck?

As many know here I've had the privilege to own many different guns over the whole spectrum of budgets from say the lowly Benjamin Maximus to the top notch AAA Evol. Enjoyed most, some I didn't care for. But I gotta say one of the most bang for your buck guns out there has been the Umarex Notos. I was looking for a little gun to get for shooting pigeons that roost in our barn. Nothing special and preferred to be lower powered. Everyone kept talking about the Notos. I even made a thread telling people to talk me out of it hoping that people that had it maybe didn't enjoy it so I would move on and keep looking. A $250 gun can't be that good right? Boy was I wrong. I pushed it off as long as I could but once PA had them in stock I caved. Upon receiving I have taken probably 60 pigeons from our barn with it. Now I've shot it more than that just plinking at dirt clods or spinners cause it's just fun to shoot but being put to work it does an excellent job. I gotta say only hang up has been the stock mag is ok at best. Just got a CARM 12 shot for it and much better now. I gotta give it to the Notos for my uses it's been arguably the best bang for the buck gun I've shot to this day. Not my best gun and there's been others that I think were more than worth the money, but something about this Notos just really impresses me.

What, in your opinion, has been your best bang for the buck PCP?

The Hatsan 125 PRO, What's the big deal with this version?!

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well...
I've recently come across the new Hatsan's line of traditional springers and gas-ram air rifles titled ZADA, alongside which, they've also updated the venerable mod. 125 rifle from their magnum line of break barrels. This newest model has got a skeletonized stock, which I personally don't really like, because it'll most certainly throw the gun off balance and leave it almost exclusively front heavy among the rest of the 125 versions. I reckon they've made this decision, because they wanted to reduce the overall weight of the gun and make it more manageable to shoot - it does have a pistol grip after all, but I'd much rather have a solid, synthetic stock than a skeletonized one, making the gun front heavy. On the other hand, what I really like about this one is that it comes with almost the same rubberized muzzle end, like most of their other break barrels have, which is also hooded in addition to that of the previous models, which all have an exposed front post (save for the very early 125s with really short muzzle end blocks, those had a covered front post sight).

Other than that, I didn't really notice anything new, but hey, it's a new version/iteration in their line of 125s... So far we've got the thumbhole stock version, the standard 125, Dominator verison, the 125 Sniper... maybe there are even more, that I haven't listed here ( We're talking about the 125 model here, exclusively! ).

So, does anybody have this new PRO model, what else is different about this one from the older ones? Does it have a different finish on it, perhaps an oversized-bore issue?
Let me know, if anybody's got this thing in possession, I'm really curious about it :)

Here's the link to one of these guns: https://www.balistas.com/hatsan-125-pro-5-5mm
