BRK Pathfinder 30 and 50 yards

Today after work i decide to go out to the desert and shot the pathfinder, so here is what i accomplish today, was a bit windy when i arrive and is not an excuse for my bad grouping is just im not a good shooter by any mean and i think the gun in a good shooter hands can perform better.
The gun is as it come out of the box no changes at all
Regulator is set at 160 which i think is a bit to high
I get an average of 50 shots per fill from 250 bar to 160 using the JSB 15.89 grns at 810 fps
So no further do here are some groups at 30 and 50 yards, i didn’t have time to wait for the wind to slow down it was getting late so i just keep shooting
This group is at 30 yards using the 18.13 grains 800 fps, power wheel not on max

Was getting late when the wind stop blowing almost for complete and decide to make another quick groups at 50 yards with the 15.89 grains at 775 fps (groups on the orange targets)

New member looking for help to ID airgun

Hello to all. I’m looking for some help to ID this airgun. I acquired it about 15 years ago and haven’t shot it much over the years. It’s a side lever springer that shots fairly straight mounted in a beast of a stock that may have been shortened at some time in its life. Just looking for info out of curiosity.

Did a bit of .30 cal HADES testing today ...

 @ 910 fps from the 1-38" twist SKOUT 35" barrel .... Wowzers stacking pellet on pellet at 80 yards when clean shots were taken.
Going up north to blast away at the Belding Ground squirrels next weekend .... Can't wait to see the hurt these BIG .30's can do to the sage rats 🐿️

Scoping the HW97K for hunter field target ...

I've been reading here, watching Cyclops Youtubes, soaking up buzz with the thought of trying hunter field target piston class. Krale just shipped the HW97K (in .177, 20 foot-pounds) and I am casting about for an airgun-rated scope, probably 6-24, parallax to 10 yards and under $400 -- the further under the better.
If anyone can recommend a scope of this description or close to it for HFT piston, I am all ears. Thanks in advance.

broken suppressor

Anyone else besides me have a buck rail suppressor break ? Mine did this morning on my Diana Chaser rifle. I shot about 50 pellets without a problem. I put in a fresh c02 cartridge and first shot, suppressor went flying. Broke of 1-1/2" above the threaded end. It is a fairly clean break. I know that I did not bump the suppressor against anything. I sent an email to Buck Rail and am waiting for a reply.
I was just wondering if any one else had a problem with their suppressors. One thing I do know is they are made with a printer.

Slugs or Pellets of same weight Diffrences?

For targets at distance of 100yd and over would a slug of the same weight be any better or worse at accuracy? From what i understand slugs are better at long range but why is it simply because they are heavier and the wind doesnt push them around as much or is there ballistic properties of a slug make it more efficent flying through the air?

Trying to understand if there is an advantage of shooting a slug that weigs the same as my pellets at 100yd +shooting. In consistently hitting salad spoons with JSB 18g pellets so wanting to push it out further..

In using a cricket 2. .22 with a 450mm barel.

It will do 895fps with a 23g slug do I need more or should I snug it down a tad or should I switch to something smaller should I try a 17g NSA slug as well.

Comments amd suggestions please.

HW35E Accuracy change from excellent to terrible.

Hello, I am new to the forum. I live in Northwestern Metro Atlanta, getting into field target and hunting. I plan to go to Pyramid Air competition for the first time this year. I collect springers and vintage air guns. I have a HW35E 177 cal with a vortex spring. Last year I shot nearly one hole 3 shot groups at 15 yards. Now geting 1" - 1.5" groups with mixtures of clusters and vertical stringing with 5 kinds of pellets like JSB 10.34, H&N Field Trophy (4.50,4.51 and 4.52) and RWS match. None any good and hard to tell which one is best. Before this trouble, I did a dumb thing and overtightened the barrel pivot screw as tight as I good get it with a big screwdriver. I talked to Airguns of Arizona technician. They said the barrel pivolt screw should be just over tight like no more than 15 lbs torque or less. He was not sure on the manufacturer spec for that. I loosened it to 15lbs and then when down to 8 lbs. Some improvement on vertical stringing but groups still over 1 inch. Air guns of Arizona said my breach seal maybe bad but it looks Ok to me. Gun has about 250 round thru it so far. Tried 2 different scopes and same result. However it shoots good groups with iron sights. Have not dropped it, nor mishandled it and was always stored in case in a dehumidified room. I tried different artillery holds with no good results. Then shot my FWB 124D and RWS 350 and got excellent accuracy so do not think it is my shooting method. As stated, I shot it good last year. Another thing is when the problem started after the overtightening, I had to shim the scope as it shot like 3-4 inches low at 15 yard. Before it was zeroed at that range. I already have a UTG mount to correct barrel droop (10.1" I believe) from last year but still needed shims. Ready to send into Airguns of Arizona for repair. Thought I would post here first if any ideas to try. Also since airgun is out of warranty, if somebody knows a good reasonable place to send it instead of Airguns of Arizona.

PCP Rifle  NLA KalibrGun Cricket Tac II 25 cal 60 TRADE

It comes with 4 magazines and two fill probes in the original box. I bought it from Charlie at Georgia Airguns. It's really like new. Scope and rings not included. If you are interested I will send more pictures.
$1200 shipped or a trade . Charlie has tuned it and it shoots FX 34 grains great. I've never opened this rifle, I've only turned the hammer spring adjuster on the back. It's currently shooting FX Hybrids 980 FPS. It has sat in a case in my safe for over a year and lost no air. It's a great shooter, just too big for what I need. I had intentions of doing bench rest, but life got in the way and that never came to fruition. Now I just need something smaller I can shoot in my yard.

PP F&F or Money Order.

Trades interested in. 22 or 25 preferred
  • FX Maverick Compact
  • Wildcat MKIII BT
  • Something compact

Calculating efficiency???

Alright airgun geeks, I need your help with something. What is the equation to figure out how efficient an airgun is?

I've been using this equation but I believe it only gives me how much energy is produced per CC.

Reservoir: 300cc
Total air used: 250b starting pressure – 150b ending pressure = 100b
Total air used x total reservoir: 100b x 300cc = 30,000

Projectile: 25.4g @ 960fps for 47 shots
Ave energy per shot: 52fpe (70.5 joules)
Total energy: 70.5j x 47 shots = 3313j

Total air used x total reservoir / Total energy = Energy per CC
30,000 / 3313 = 9 joules per CC

Take for example another airgun with a larger reservoir, a smaller usable air range, lower shot count, and lower FPE. This results in more energy per CC.

Reservoir: 480cc
Total air used: 250b starting pressure – 180b ending pressure = 70b
Total air used x total reservoir: 70b x 480cc = 33,600

Projectile: 25.4g @ 940fps for 40 shots
Ave energy per shot: 48fpe (65 joules)
Total energy: 65j x 40 shots = 2600j

Total air used x total reservoir / Total energy = Energy per CC
33600 / 2600 = 12.9j per CC

But in my mind the 2nd airgun is less efficient because I'm getting less energy, less shots, less FPE, out of a larger air reservoir.

There must be a different equation to figure out "efficiency".

Walking it out

Yesterday i got to wondering how many miles i walked out to the 100y rack.

I shot 5 cards 20 shots each, every 5 shots i walk down and back checking my hits ( i got optics ) ,. So thats 800 yards per card x 5 4000y ÷ 1760 comes to 2.272 miles. No wonder i was glad to pull my boots off that evening..lol ( check my math it hurts to do it ,i needs Excedrin )

Now will it knock off some this beer and pok rib gut ?

Iguana Downrange!!! (Taco Thursday!)

This BIG egg filled lizard destroyed my 15x15 screened in gazebo tent sunning itself as I watched (them darn razorblade claws just shred stuff!) and then made it's way down to my shooting range.

That wasn't a particularly good choice! Normally I can't safely take these in the neighborhood, but, when it's literally on my range... That's a different story!

The Leshiy 2 .30 made this critter do the random-floppy-dance, and allowed me to subsequently turn this critter into lunch, and a nice skin.

For the tacos:
Just put the good meat (legs, tail, whatever you can get off that's worth cooking up, the 'bacon' can be really pretty good on these too) into a zip-lock with some bay leaves, a garlic clove, some chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper, some olive oil and butter, then keep it in some not-quite-boiling hot water until the meat is falling off the bone tender.
Take the meat off, chop up the taters, and then fry up that goodness in some light oil in a non-stick pan on medium/medium-high until lighly browned and crispy - serve with pico de gallo and/or whatever else you like on tacos. Good stuff!

For the skin:
Carefully pull the hide off the body with your hands, before gutting the lizard (cut along the spine, so you keep the belly as one peice, and it's WAY eaiser) - invert legs, to expose interior, if keeping legs as tubes, then clean all the remaining flesh off, as best you can, and soak in 50% glycerin and 50% alcohol for around 2-3 weeks, then scrape lightly to remove loose material on scales, and pick off remaining meat from skin, and flex to soften. Dry with paper towels.

FX Impact M3 Second reg hiss

Hi all, new to this new to this air gun thing but have a blast, just installed a slug kit in an FX impact, M3, all went well or so I thought but when I screwed the bottle back on the second reg was hissing out air, screwing the centre one back in stops the leak but as soon as you back it out it hisses again. As I didn’t go near it have I done something else wrong? Or blown an O ring or something?
