Happy Easter folks 👍🏻

It's a nice day here - not windy, not cold and the sun is out. That makes a nice change lately.

I've had a morning at the local shooting range to zero in 3 rifles that I've put scopes on........

Beeman C1 .177 - Nikko Sterling Platinum 4-12x40.

Beeman C1 .22 - Hawke Sport 4x32 AO.

BSA Supersport .25 - Leupold 3-9x40.

I'm back home - the missus is cooking a nice bit of lamb leg with all of the trimmings while waiting for her parents to get here.

Have a good day all 👍🏻

Survival Airguns • [email protected]

I posted 3 or 4 weeks ago about ordering an air rifle from them and got an order confirmation but ZERO info from them from that point on. No shipping details, nothing...like a Ghost shop.

Several members here stated they experienced the same. Haven't received a single reply from them about canceling my order. As someone here recommended to contact my CC which I did and luckily they will not charge me.

Sad that they, Survival Airguns, could have had a profitable business but they blew it and its obvious that they could care less.

I thought they advertised on this site but maybe not.

To EVERYONE, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!.

I'm still waiting for this to get cleared, I really don't like these idiots, they put a bad taste on purchasing a PCP on-line, at least for me. Sucks.

Cleaning pellet (felt) with regular pellet behind it - bad idea?

I have read that 'firing' cleaning pellets through my .177 Weihrauch springers is not recommended, but is it possible to place a cleaning pellet in the bore, then place a regular pellet behind it & fire both (in one shot)? If not, what would be the recommended procedure for the use of cleaning pellets? Thread them onto a 'Patchworm' - type bore cleaning pull? What about placing multiple cleaning pellets into a bore & firing that package?

I don't presently have any cleaning pellets but contemplating acquisition of some - TIA :)

Picking the ONE right gun for me to use for HFT - methodology

I have too many FT guns. Terrible right?
Let's say you have 10 or 20 wonderful air rifles. Let's say they are all <20 ft lbs. How then would YOU determine the best platform for YOU?
This process may take a while, a long while, maybe a month...but hey...your shooting your air rifle and your practicing.

My train of thought is as follows:

1) From a bench on a still day - zero each gun at 25 yards - use your favorite FT scope on each one.

2) Shoot 60 shots from each gun at a large paper target set at 55 yards to determine each guns ability to group tightly; keep track of the number of flyers

3) Take the top five airguns (meaning the guns that gave you the tightest groups) and reset your paper target to your Zeroed distance - 25 yards.

4) From standing, shoot 30 shots from each of the five guns - determine which guns give your the most consistent point of aim in the standing position. Take note if the gun is wearing you out while trying to stay on point. Rate your exertion level from 1 to 10 with 1 being easiest to hold on point and a 10 being oh hell, this isn't fun or is just too damn uncomfortable.

5) From Kneeling shoot 30 shots from each of the five guns - determine which guns give you the most consistent point of aim in the kneeling position.
Take note if the gun is wearing you out while trying to stay on point. Rate the exertion level from 1 to 10 with 1 being easiest to hold and a 10 being this hurts like hell or is just too damn uncomfortable.

6) Take only the top two airguns (meaning the guns that gave you the best groups standing and kneeling), and you almost have your primary and back up FT gun

7) Break out your bucket and sticks and move your paper target back out to 55 yards and shoot 30 more rounds from each of the two remaining guns

Top score is your primary FT gun the other becomes your backup.

My thinking is that only these two TOP GUNS should be adorned with the exact same scope, because it's time to get serious spending the time necessary to create accurate ranging wheels with very detailed Dope Charts.

Your thoughts?

I'm aware some folks don't have a lot of FT airguns competing for their favorite, but, as i read through the entire forum i hear over and over again about how MANY airguns people have... so why not.
I'm thinking this same methodology could work on any caliber gun you have multiple(s) of regardless of how you use it.

Talk me out of the Notos

Talk me out of one please. Zero guns in the high end, fancy shmancy range interest me whatsoever which is nice. Having the Evol mini I see no need for another airgun as it fits my needs to a T. Except for one which is a low power, close quarters shooter for in our barn. I used to use my Taipan Veteran short with a speed dial which worked great. I then had issues with the mags advancing on low power. Normal power it did just fine but i wanted it for that low power purpose also so ended up selling it. The Evol would be doable i guess but hate to adjust anything as it shoots so well and having to take it apart to do it is a pain. Ive yet to fill that low power spot which has been, I believe, over a year now. Hard to remember, got 2 kids now my CRS is much worse than before them.

I have a HW30 .177 I use in the barn occasionally which works but a pain with follow up shots as many pigeons can be in there at once. And don't like to get it dirty as it's a very nice gun.

Took a break from here for awhile, keep saying 6-9 months cause not even sure exactly how long but don't care to really look it up. I do have an Airacuda standard .22 that's been sitting for months without a scope in my safe. Got it to review and stole my scope off the Evol. Once I was done playing with it I looked into getting a different scope but never did. Took a 4-5 month break shooting airguns also. Now last month been getting back into it as weather is finally getting nicer. That gun does have a nice power adjuster that would work great for it but is pretty long and much heavier than what the Notos is. Could make it work even though it's length and weight are bigger than wanted for its use, but then I could just get a red dot for it and be done.

Anyways was just curious what cool guns have come up just to look at with no intention on getting anything different. However some Umarex Notos came up? Looked just to see and man I think it would end up filling that spot greatly.

Everywhere it seems to be pre-order though and I don't really want to do that. Should I take it as a sign to stay away?

I got 3 options I guess which none are ideal to me:

1. Adjust Evol in between needs for it

2. Get red dot for Airacuda and live with the large size

3. Pre-order Notos

Old Guns on a New Spring Day

Spring is here in the Pacific Northwest (USA). I am now able to use some of my plinking toys in my backyard.

The one on the right was from my Army days, mid 1980s, while stationed in West Germany. It is a Weihrauch HW 35 Luftgewehr Kal. 4,5 mm (.177). German spec, only 7.5Joule, so it was not very powerful, compared to the export models at average of 16 joules. It was kept in storage and came out occasionally only to be used for indoor practice. As an aside, this gun was one of my first real “bb guns”. The trigger even to this date, is one of the better ones in my line up of target guns. It is superbly accurate. it just can’t kill critters.

The other gun is a beast in comparison. It is the RWS Mod 54. It is also in .177 cal, but rated at least 16 joule/12fpe. Once I put a chronograph on it, I may find it may have higher energy than 12fpe. It is a recent acquisition. The gun was purchased used but in fine shape. I installed a SWFA scope that can focus down to 6 yards on it. I am planning to use this rifles to shoot Field Target matches at my club later in the year. Will need to learn more from doing the game to see what equipment I really need.

I am having challenges getting my Weihrauch to shoot point of aim using sights mounted on the receiver. Now am aware of barrel doops and bent barrels. Not sure yet how to diagnose if that is the cause of not with my gun. I am not able to use both scopes or perp sights when mounted on the receiver rails. No issue using the factory open sights on the barrel. Both my Beeman receiver sights and a cheapo BSA scope will not adjust low enough for me at 10 meters and 21 yards. Shoots around 2 inches too high. I have another SWFA scope with Warne 11mm dove tail rings on the Weihrauch now and will test it later and see if this better scope and mounting system will work. I am using stuff I had on 22s to see if they will work on my airguns.

Still validating my gear and testing the equipment for functionality. Learning more each day. Hope to learn more about service, maintenance, and modifications to these fine guns…

Appreciate all the shared knowledge I am seeing on this board

  • Question
Is shooting lead pellets safe for the enviornment?

I live on a flood plane and as such the woods in my back yard has a ton of wild life. Is it dangerous to the environment if I'm constantly shooting lead pellets into the ground where all the animals are foraging? Over the years I have unloaded a bunch of tins. Whats the scoop?

Air Arms Pro Sport #986

No doubt the best part of this hobby is the friends we make along the path. Today I was able to pass this excellent early example on to Fishing43 (Greg Fulk). I love the classic lines and high comb of these older Pro Sports. He is an excellent curator of his guns and will no doubt do better justice to this one than I did. I only replaced the seals and spring. I never did put a scope on it for fear of causing its first scratch. Greg will undoubtably shoot it as it should be enjoyed! Can't wait to hear how it goes.
Cheers.

First FT match: What do you need to bring?

I'll be making a debut here before too long with an HW97K for hunter piston. Never been to a match -- just watched some on Youtube. Sooo, in addition to hat, sunscreen, water and snacks -- a bucket to sit on and a pair of cross sticks?
Any guidance on cross-sticks beyond "you can't stick them into the ground"?

BRK Pathfinder 30 and 50 yards

Today after work i decide to go out to the desert and shot the pathfinder, so here is what i accomplish today, was a bit windy when i arrive and is not an excuse for my bad grouping is just im not a good shooter by any mean and i think the gun in a good shooter hands can perform better.
The gun is as it come out of the box no changes at all
Regulator is set at 160 which i think is a bit to high
I get an average of 50 shots per fill from 250 bar to 160 using the JSB 15.89 grns at 810 fps
So no further do here are some groups at 30 and 50 yards, i didn’t have time to wait for the wind to slow down it was getting late so i just keep shooting
This group is at 30 yards using the 18.13 grains 800 fps, power wheel not on max

Was getting late when the wind stop blowing almost for complete and decide to make another quick groups at 50 yards with the 15.89 grains at 775 fps (groups on the orange targets)

New member looking for help to ID airgun

Hello to all. I’m looking for some help to ID this airgun. I acquired it about 15 years ago and haven’t shot it much over the years. It’s a side lever springer that shots fairly straight mounted in a beast of a stock that may have been shortened at some time in its life. Just looking for info out of curiosity.
