World Rimfire Champion gives 25m BR a go

World Rimfire champion Maurice Hassard came out from Ireland to pick up his 25m BR gun that he will use in this years World Cup in Plzen. He shot one outdoor card with it in medium wind to try it out. He asked if it was sighted in, shot a few times off the target, then went to work. I didn’t have any 25m cards so he shot a N50 card. Taking out the dot on the N50 card would be a x on the wrabf card with the .224 plug. His card was either a 249 or 250 20x after conversion. Certainly a great showing for his first attempt with an air rifle and unfamiliar equipment. He’s looking forward to getting home so he can practice. I think he will do just fine. 😀

DIY Gun Cart

I saw one of these on the forum and just finished making a Gun Cart for myself. Thought I would share it with you. I've seen similar carts used by the PB people but this on is specifically for airguns.

I’m fortunate to have a backyard shooting range and can be plinking at a moment’s notice – grab an airgun, a can of pellets and step outside.

When tuning or testing I have to make several trips from basement to bench to get setup for the session so I decided to make a cart to be able to move everything in one go.

The cart is based on a 3-wheel jogging stroller. I stripped it to the chassis and added a wood tray, a cylinder for the air tank and a couple of Kolpin gun grips.

I mounted the cylinder (a piece of 8 inch PVC pipe) directly over the rear axel to keep the weight of the HPA tank at the cart's center of balance and used a strip of packing foam around the tank to secure it.

The wood tray is attached to the frame to provide rigidity. I’ve added a cradle for the LabRadar and a magnetic mount to secure the shooting rest. A couple of plastic utility boxes hold cleaning equipment, tools, targets, pellets and whatever other miscellaneous odds and sods that I need at the bench.

I’m pleased with the end result. Balance is good and the loaded cart is easy to maneuver through doorways and out onto the shooting range. Except for the Koplin gun grips and the stroller I got at a garage sale ($20) everything was made from stuff I scrounged.

A fun project!

Cheers!

Mini Carbine...Trying To Make The Team...

I finally got a Mini Carbine...This example came to me about as close to new condition as possible, I'm the third owner, to my "condition standards" anyway....this Mini isn't built to be a show pony in any event...Compared to my polished up Veteran it's about as handsome as a fence post...(All airguns that go through "MY" hands will be compared to my Veteran) The action has a "new" not broken in feel to it and the trigger has a little creep in it about like my recent Steyr...I like to get 'em like this...this Mini needs shot and shot a lot...I'm reminded of the old Jan and Dean song "Little Old Lady From Pasadena "Parked Under that bead blasted mat finished bland shroud is a shinny blue black finished CZ barrel! Two or three patches to clean and than it wasn't dirty...you should have seen my Steyr's first clean...Only had a couple of hours of familiarization time yday...my key take aways are...the barrel is good...initial test shows CP domes and JSB 18s work good (825fps 18s)...it's going to eat them like it or not...the trigger and action already smoothing out...the MAGs are a pain to load...but no surprise...single shot tray would be nice...like the 14 shot mags...I'm attracted to the "strictly business" appearance...the location probes and machined function parts fit and finish are stellar! Two groups at end of shoot just for reference...the slightly smaller one was CP domes @ 30y benched early in the shoot the other was last of day off knee with 18s @ 30y no bench...the weight reminds me of a Huntsman...will fit smaller scope later. Was a good first day...think it will make the team but it

Today is my 39 Anniversary so no shooting today...lol!

Thermal scope too cheap to pass on?

OwlSet CO50
I have been given an offer to buy a used demo thermal scope, a OwlSet CO50 for €2000 (USD 2160).
I don't have much use for a thermal scope at the moment but brand new the price is around €3500 ($3780).
Is this one of those too good to pass up on deals? Scope was used for demo purposes at IWA 2023, so can probably be described as basically brand new.
It has 1-8 digital zoom or you can attach it to the front of a scope.
Does anyone own one? Is it any good? I can't find any reviews or anything on it since it's so new.

WDYC(what do you carry) Minimalist Edition

Didn't want to hijack the main thread; so if you're hunting.
And
No pack allowed.
Nothing on your belt.
Just your gun and what you can put in your pockets.
No fanny pack.
As many pocketed pants as you can find counts.
This should be a fun twist for instead of carrying everything you can think of.
I'm going with ammo, compass, trail tape, tp, pocket knife, smokes and lighter. Everything else can stay at the vehicle🤣
Let's hear what you all say!!!🎩🤪🤙

Tuning  Help With Inconsistent Impact M3

I used to achieve very tight ES (10 or under) and SD (2-3 or under) with my FX Impact M3. I am now getting ES of 40-50 on my first magazine, then it tightens up to around ES of 15 or so on the second mag. I also used to get short range MOA or sub MOA POI’s. It’s now some MOA but several fliers – short range being 35 to 50 yards. Overall, first magazine is about 2.5 to 3.5 MOA.

Barrel has been cleaned, breech o-ring changed, second regulator is consistent within 2-5 bar, internals cleaned and lightly polished (valve, valve spring, spring guide, valve rod). Pellets are all washed and sorted by weight. The puzzling thing is that it tightens up some after one magazine (25 shots.) Can anyone tell me what I might be overlooking?

Here’s the setup:
Impact M3 standard (600mm) with unmarked power block (s/n 216xxx)
.25 caliber – shooting FX and JSB 33.95 grain pellets – washed and sorted by weight.
Macro 16, Micro +/-3.5, valve about 4, second reg 120 – these are factory specs for this pellet.
First regulator replaced with Saber Tactical first reg bypass.
Standard internals (hammer, spring, etc.)
Average velocity 872 fps when ES is tight - 830 to 900 on first mag now, then it tightens up.

Any help or suggestions will be helpful, especially if you have experienced this same situation.

AEA VARMINT problem. Got any ideas?

She drops 9-12fps each shot. 16 shots drops from 1065fps to 880fps. Holds air, uses about 3.4bar per shot which is reasonable. Two chronographs give same results. Bin Tac wouldn't help me even though I bought it from him. He said it was the hammer spring, but when I told him it was new, he said call the shop I bought it from. He didn't listen to what I was explaining and couldn't get off the phone fast enough when he found out I got a $14 part from TPS. Done with Bin Tac. If you have had the same problem I'm having, please chime in.
Thanks, Bill and Addi.

Cookware and holdover

So hung a new ( to me ) pot on the 75y rack and wanted to hear its report so had the r9 scoped handy but not a mildot just plain crosshair. So it figured how well i coulg holdover without mildot help. Just wing it to around a bout on the vertical line

I guess not too bad ..

75y holdover try
crosshair_holdover.jpg

I kept saying no... now im saying notos

I'm typically not an umarex fan, but with all the positive reviews on this gun, and the 20% off at PA I caved.

$228 shipped to my door, an received today. Cleaned the barrel, filled with air, slapped a bugbuster on top...

Wow! Getting dime sized groups with just about everything I've tried so far, besides crow mags. Those did decent too.

Here is a group

15 mph R2L wind, 35 yards, FTTs 5.53

20230525_160754.jpg

Without wind, it would've been a much tighter group. One flier, but I dont sort pellets. Inside of 25, itll stack crosmans. I haven't put 100 pellets down the pipe yet.

Also, she got her first blood on a young starling who obviously couldn't hear this rig because it's very quiet.

Joined the club!

Well I did it. I finally joined the ever growing club, and bought a mini evol.

Thanks to Marlon for helping me out with purchasing his used mini. I’ve been wanting to try one of these for years. Almost since I got into the sport. Can’t wait to get it in my hands and finally understand what all the hype is about!

Thanks to all the enablers like @CTAirgunner, and @Dairyboy that helped enable me to spend my hard earned money on yet another pcp. Lol

talk me out of selling my notos....

to preface,

bought my notos in February of this year,
sort-of as a niche gun for times my impact would blow through the silo/barn roofs.

wasnt completely happy with it out of the box, the factory mag seemed to not group well,
so i snagged a carm mag,
made a world of difference in accuracy.

so i made the trigger nice,
adjusted the hammer spring to really flatten the shot string
(24 shots,749fps with 16gn fx pellets +- 2fps)

if you are a penny at 35yds you are in serious peril.
and at 50yds it will do better than an inch on a windless day.

so why would i want to sell it right?

not sure lol

after getting it setup i took 60+ hosps and starlings with it,
but now it just sits in the case.

when i go to my permissions i never seem to take it,
and my impact is too powerful for shooting in my yard,
so at home i shoot my sig virtus .22 semi and sig m17 pistol. (too much fun)

poor notos girl just sits in her case lol

New hammer spring in crown mk2

In my attempt to try and get decent fps out of my crown mk2 i have bought a stiffer spring from huma air.
Out of the box i cant get the crown to shoot more than 890 with 13.4gr at 140bar and max internal HS adjuster.
Someone told me that I May have a weak spring so I bought one from huma.
I have also drilled a bigger TP in my barrel from 3.5mm to 5mm and that didnt do anything to my fps.
But now I see that the air go into a hole in my pellet probe and out and that has to be the restriction that holds everything i do back, so Will this new spring actualy help me in this matter or is a slug/pin probe a better upgrade?
It dosent help with bigger hole in my TP when the hole in the probe is much smaller?

Buying a Ghost. Bottle vs. Reg limit

I'm looking at buying a BRK Ghost HP .30 cal. I wanna switch the bottle to 580cc 300 bar. But is the 250 bar stock fill limit determined by the stock bottle or the regulator? Because if it's the reg, then that would mean that no matter what bottle I got, I could never fill to 300 bar.

So I guess the elephant in the room is.....Is anyone filling their Ghost to 300 bar....period?

Best Can Ever

I used to drink this coffee when I lived in Japan. Japanese are crazy for canned coffee, go figure. A little Asian grocery store opened by my house so I stopped in to check it out. They had UCC cold coffee so I bought a couple for nostalgia's sake and some Pokey pretzels, another great Japanese invention.

Well this has to be the most awesome can available on the market. This thing is made out of steel, none of this tin stuff. Have been shooting these for a couple of weeks and regular cans do not even come close.
