I gotta lotta miles on this body, and dearly love powerful springers. But I don't wanna carry a 11lb rifle all damn day. I just got a Hatsan Edge in 25cal and am having the time of my life. Sure, it's a little rough and cheap as hell, but it'll group with the best of them and holdover is no problem. I been doing that since I got my first Red Ryder in 1965. No, I don't need a $600 gun that weighs near twice that of my new beater. My wanderings are shorter nowadays and the little Hatsan makes them easier.

My gun club had a steel plate match this weekend. This afternoon I scrounged roughly 8,500 pcs of 9mm brass. Tomorrow I hit the scrap yard and they give me a hundred dollars for it. Then I call PA and buy 4,000-5,000 pellets with the money, 48 hours later I pick them up so UPS gets cheated out of the opportunity to destroy them.

I have a Leshiy 2 and I noticed today that it will fire even with the safety engaged. I couldn't believe it when it happened and it's easily reproducible. It has less than 150 shots through it. Has anyone else see this? If so, what was your solution?

Just curious what the approx speed increase would be going from a 500mm compact in my Maverick to a 600mm. Looking at shooting 33.95 pellets. Current tune with 500 mm is just over 900 with 25.39. Most videos I’ve seen the 33.95 are about 100 fps slower. My current setup should shoot them around 800 fps. Just curious how much the 600 mm would boost that with the same tune ?

I already have both a carbine (AEA HP semi) and a rifle (AVA) in 25 cal, but want something in .22 that will shoot CPHP's well.
CPHP's are cheap (have 20 tins), so I'll be shooting this gun a LOT on my ranch. I also have a scoped Diana Bandit in .22 cal that I use for closer range pesting and plinking - it works awesome with the CPHP's!

I'm kind of leaning towards the DAR as I'd like a nice traditional looking wood stock rifle that is probably a bit more powerful... my 25 cal AVA is plastic.
Notos is lighter and smaller a great for pesting, but my Diana pistol is also light and good for that.

What do you guys think?

Anyone else do this? Alot of my shooting is out of my truck so I keep qll my ammo and mags in these handy little spots. Very convenient and fit nicely in there.

So as I fall deeper and deeper down the slug rabbit hole (for my M3, specifically), something occurred to me that I already knew but hadn't really pieced together previously. The crew over at Patriot who designed (or at least were involved with the process for designing) the Javelins shoot Impacts almost exclusively. So a fair assumption can be made that the FX barrels and the Javelin slugs were meant for each other.

But I don't hear a ton about them from Impact shooters. Some, but other slug brands seem to get more press, at least recently.

So what say you? How have the Javelins stacked up in your Impacts? I placed an order for several recently from Pyramyd to see for myself, but curious about other's thoughts.

Hi all,
I've been researching and it seems that my gun is borderline for becoming a slug shooter.
I want to accomplish moa accuracy at 50 and 100 yds so what do I need to do at minimum? A hume reg and or plenum? A slug liner modification? A 600mm slug liner? (and is the latter even possible?)

Most every bit of media I find on them they look darker in color than this so i thought id defer to somone with more experience. I have these guys wandering around in large numbers just wiping my bird feeders OUT. I think these are also the fellas trying to nest in my attic....ive put up new screen on attic vents twice now.Are these house sparrows?

After a not so great outing with the .25 Alpha Wolf at 100 yard the other day I felt the need to redeem myself a bit. Weather was sunny and in the 80s up here in CT. Not much wind but a few light to medium breezes that would kick up from time to time. Went to the local public range about 10 min away from me. It's a super convenient location but a few gripes are that it's limited to 50 yards, sometimes has some really dumb PB people there (although this year most seem much more responsible) and only has 6 low BR benches with rest being 3 foot tables to shoot off standing. 3 times there so far since they opened for the season and today was the first time I was able to get a BR bench.

Anywho - brought the 16" .72 Zeus for some fun and the EVOL 15" for some target time. I had cleaned the barrel on the EVOL this morning as last time it was spitting a lot of fliers. This time it felt much more on. Only had time for about 6 magazines. So each of the targets below is 11 rounds of .22 MRD @ 920fps, sorta. Top row is 11 shots each. Middle row is a bit of a mix and the bottom left target was about a mag and a half - so around 16-17 shots. The blue circles are ~0.4" and each black square is 2". Group size is 0.5 - 0.8". I think I could've done better if I tried to read the wind that pulled a few off course. The only called flier is on the upper right shot on the upper right target - I knew I pulled that one when I squeezed the trigger.

Had a fun time, just wish I had a bit more time.

Nowadays where can I get a .22 taipan veteran standard with a CZ barrel?

I have a .25 vet tactical long but I'm considering selling it to get a .22 standard. Want the CZ barrel bc my .25 vet w/ a CZ barrel is super accurate.

Finally got out to stretch its legs at 50 65 and 75 in 6 to 8 winds kicked up later In the afternoon.Sighted in at 27 and was popping shotgun shells at 30 and 50 ..hitting soup cans at 65 and 75 .The Rekord trigger is the cherry on top ..breaks like sugar glass with some minor adjustments .I might just leave the Darkside and stay with my first true blue ! Can't thank Steve from AEAC enough ,for his reviews are what coaxed me into this purchase .

Everybody I spoke with had a great time.

This was the first "regular" field target match held at PRGC in many years. By "regular" ft match it was a 10-55 yard, sub 20fpe, AAFTA style match. But held at night, in the dark, with lights illuminating the face of each target and also placed at the shooters stations. 10 lanes, 2 targets per lane, 2 shots per target, distances not given.

Shooters came from as far as New Mexico (Rex J.) and Utah (Justin J.). We also had some Tucson area shooters (Larry F., Steve Q, Franz D.) and Flagstaff (Steve M. and Martin M.) travel to attend the match.

Targets were the same S&S Targets that we use for the high power field target matches at this location. Of course reducers with much smaller kill zones were employed, and some new and interesting shaped kill zones made their way into the match this month (star and hearts for example).



Mike S. and Ben S. make and sell these targets and the sky's the limit when it comes to faceplate designs. I believe S&S Targets is a nod to their last names, but haven't confirmed that with them.

One competitor told me it was 91 degrees at match start time, but didn't feel that warm. I was told wind was nearly calm/still, which is a good thing, considering the course was rather difficult. Estimating the size of the couple of non-round kill zones, the course Troyer was a 33. And that isn't accounting for the match being held at night. The highest T was the 0.75" target at 30 yards on lane 5, for a T of 40. Lowest T was the 7/8" target at 18 yards on lane 2 for a T of 20.6.

Rex told me he really struggled with the far targets, scope image was clear, and he felt like good trigger releases, but missed. There are often very deceiving winds at PRGC, so perhaps there was downrange wind that couldn't be felt at the shooters stations.

Justin Jacobson of Utah Airguns and Shane Kellar of Element Optics shared a gun. They arrived with no dope, but sighted in and figured it out as they went along, with some help from Strelok. Impressive! Also impressive to note that they were shooting the .22/18.1grain pellets, a very unorthodox pellet for AAFTA type field target. As it was described to me, it was quite something to listen to them figure out dope as they went through the course, effectively working together and helping each other by extrapolating the trajectory as they noted impact points on the targets. Sounds like they make a great team during a match, and that seems to also be the case in their business ventures. Shane donated a bunch of Element Optics lanyards for participants, thanks Shane!

It was great to see Dan and Steeler F come out and play. They were using a 35 yd minimum parallax scope and I heard that their primary gun is all set up for RMAC and they didn't want to mess with any of the hard-earned settings prior to that big competition, so made do last night. Regardless of the equipment setbacks, looks like they had a good time.

We also had another father and son team, John and Andrew W. Glad to see these father/son combos coming to matches and enjoying field target as a family. I know I really have fun when I'm able to attend a match with my sons, and that sentiment seems to be shared.

Anthony T of Penchetta was 19/24 in the beginning, really lighting it up, but also experienced some sort of equipment difficulties at some point and that is reflected in his score. Tony is a past AZ State FT champion and can be quite tough to beat.

I was told that Mike S and Wayne R shot a good portion of the match accidentally using dope from the wrong gun! Mike was using dope from his ft pistol and Wayne was using dope from his springer. Seems like it didn't hurt Mike S's score nearly as bad as it did Wayne R. I've seen Wayne R shoot a perfect/clean match before, he's another one that can be serious competition (when he uses the dope for the correct gun ).

And it sounded like the dark got to Franz a bit, he commented that he fired 3 different times with the bolt open, something that he's never done during a daytime match.

Here's the box score...I included stats for the targets past 50 yards, and that 40 T target on Lane 5, which actually didn't seem to give shooters as much trouble as the 50+ yard targets. Interesting.

The ice pick shooter strikes again! The gun was shooting Griffin 23 grain .177 slugs around 1070fps(a hair under 60 fpe). This setup always gets it done The hog was around 125-150lbs. The shot was at 33 yards. I don't have a great story about the hunt really. The boar came in behind me, and I shot as soon as the right angle presented itself. As an aside, I almost got a shot at a true monster boar later on in the dark, but he showed up as I was packing up, and spotted me. As mentioned in my other .177 hog post a while back, I don't take hunting with this caliber lightly. I make sure of my shot, and don't take the shot unless it is perfect. This gun(at this power level in .177) will out penetrate most people's .30 air guns
Here's a short video I filmed with a PARD NV007S. The pig moved a little right when I pulled the trigger, making the impact about a half inch off, but the little ice pick still did it's job. This is why shot placement is critical with small bores

I have been working at developing a F/G-Class parallel for springers to F/G-Class rimfire. It is for my practice, I do not expect others will take to it. F-Class rimfire is shot long at 100-yards prone with a rest or bipod. G-Class is the same but from a bench.

F-Class springer is intended as a 50-yards for long option. I developed what seem to be workable targets and am just trying things out now.

I put a "power washer" (Vortec) in front of the top hat in an otherwise stock TX200 MKIII. It is said to smooth out shooting with 10.3 grain pellets. It was the first time on the range with this rig. It seemed to but it may be just placebo.

The rig is a TX200 MIII in .177 caliber. I am shooting AA Field Heavies in 10.3 gr sorted to 10.4 gr. It has a Vortex Diamondback 6-24x50mm on it. I have a tweaked Allen front rest with a tweaked Protekor front bag (very soft) with a Protekor #13 rear bag. This rig works well.



I shot one set of 3 bulls to get oriented and dialed in. Target 1 was for dial in purposes.



I then shot 2 for score.

Is there some way to tell which Notos production "batch" you are buying? I am seeing references to the later production models having some improvements with the trigger and accuracy, perhaps other things as well. Is there a serial number range that is definitely a later batch? If so, please post some serial numbers. I have a line on a new one at a great price, but no clue how when it was made and would like one from the newer batch if possible if I will end up with an improved gun.

Rudely awoken just after 1 by the chicken alarm, I checked my backyard NV cam and spotted a large bandit trying to break into the coop. I'd seen him on the trail cam the last couple of nights and had the trusty Leshiy Classic dialed in with a NV scope. By the time I was ready he had moved on to the bird buffet, about 70 yards out and was working out how to get to the feeder. Just after powering up and getting the window open, he looked right at me and I zoned in on the breakdancer switch. The LC is shooting Zan 177 10 grain slugs at 940fps and is brutally accurate. Its also stupidly quiet and makes about the same racket as a beer can opening, so perfect for this job. In the heat of the moment, I forgot to set the scope to record but the action happened right below my trail cam so a few juicy pics tell the story. He went down instantly and commenced the inverted dance. The girls produced a few extra tasty eggs for me this morning. Hopefully, I don't have to spend time defending the use of a 177 after rallyshark's second hog post! Even at 22fpe, those tiny pills have crazy penetration.
