Other  Is No Reg Superior for Semi-Auto Follow-up Shots?

Hey all. New to airguns, new to the forum. Been doing a lot of research before making my first purchase and would appreciate hearing from people who own or have shot both regulated and unregulated semi-auto PCPs. There is probably something I'm missing, but I keep coming to the conclusion that an unregulated semi-auto be preferable to one with a regulator for quick follow-up shots. Would the accuracy loss due to the lack of regulator be less than the accuracy loss from not allowing the regulator to fully fill up? Buying with the intention of snake control which can be difficult when they are moving (copperheads and rattlesnakes in my area) but will likely end up spending more time plinking overall. Thanks.

Benjamin  Got my first PCP

I have had an HW95 for several years that I use for pesting and target shooting, but being slow to reload, too many birds got away. I decided to take the plunge into the PCP world and got a used gen 1 Marauder along with a GX CS2 compressor. The previous owner seems to have tuned it well, initial testing seems to be pretty good for shot count. I was considering the Marauder and Akela, and decided to go with the Marauder because of the tuning capability would be a good learning experience for me. I know I already want to make a depinger, that gets annoying!

I have been testing different pellets to see what works best, I have an old box of Crosman Premiers 7.9gr that didn’t work well with the HW95, that shoot great at 25m, but at 35m the group opens up a lot. I have some CPUM from Walmart that do the same thing, great group at 25m, then much worse at 35. I have a JSB sample pack, the Exact 8.3 looked like a shotgun at all ranges, but the Exact 10.3 did really well out to 45m. The RWS Superdomes are my go to pellets in the HW95, but are horrible in the Marauder. Of course the expensive pellets work the best.

Does the issue with the Crosman pellets shooting great at 25m and then much worse by 35m sound like it could be improved by optimizing the velocity? The boxed Premiers in 7.9gr are shooting at about 950 fps. I plan on doing some more testing at different velocities, but it would be helpful knowing if there is a typical optimum velocity for these pellets, I couldn’t find that in my searching, so it looks like it depends on the gun.

Daystate  Red Wolf non HP .22 Cal arrived. My comments are the following:

A couple of hours ago the new to me Red Wolf arrived.

Took me a little to be able to set the rifle to shoot at high. Now I is set there and shooting the JSB 18.14 grain at 944 fps.

The accuracy of this thing at 100 yards is absolutely out of this world !! I will share a picture of groups soon. But the accuracy of this rifle is a different league than any other of my PCPs.

The experience of shooting with this platform is butter smooth.

With this 700 cc bottle the rifle will give a bunch of shots per fill.

FX  Fx Maverick Compact .25 arrived today with qc problems

After the discussion in my previous thread I went ahead and ordered the .25 Maverick compact. I followed the video guide and instruction booklet on the first run. I shot the 25 grain JSB hades and have a few questions and complaints.

1. The factory reg was set at 120 bar and on power wheel #1 I was get 560 fps, is that expected? I think I got like 870fps at power wheel #7

2. tldr: The first reg was never set at the factory. I followed the instructions to degass the gun and reset both regs. When I unscrewed the second reg for the guage to read the first one the gauge shot up to the tank pressure instead. After degassing I screwed in the first reg until it stopped and filled the gun again, but the reg gauge was still reading tank pressure. I degassed the gun again and started screwing in the first reg more. I'm really cautious because I know it can damage by over tightening, but I had to give it some mustard to get past a burr in the threads and then it loosened up and seated properly.

3. I don't trust that the hammer spring tension was set properly. I followed Steve's tuning guide for JSBs and when I tried those settings I had 110 bar (10 more than him) and was 100 fps slower with the wheel set to 4. (He called it 0hs change from factory, but I can't trust that now) Is that much variation expected gun to gun?

4. How do I set the hammer spring back to "factory"?

1691023988665.png

What does 19,2 mean? Is that turns out from full in? I know I need to "tune for the knee" but just wondering what that part of the chart means. I guess I could reverse engineer it and just aim for 880 with all other variables the same.

Edit: 5. regulator #2 sticks out of the housing. The book says “unscrew it flush with the housing” to see the first regulator pressure and what Steve did in the video matched that. Mine has to be out about 1/8th of an inch to have the same effect.

Anyway, I guess it could be worse but I expected better QC for the price point.

Traditional Rifle  SOLD Offering final springer from collection - incredible .20 HW98

The final springer to sell from my collection and vault clean-out project, an incredible fully tuned HW98 in .20 caliber. This has traditionally been my best shooting break barrel. Shooting the H&N FTT 11.42 pellets, and as evidenced by the target below, this rifle routinely shoots 10 shot groups in the sub <1/4" range, easily knocking down the 1/4" steel plates, shooting through the 10MM holes found on my RX target systems targets.

Purchased new in 2021, this rifle has never been shot anywhere but my indoor range or off of my back deck. There is not a handling mark on it that I am aware of.

The Vortek PG4 Steel HO spring kit and vac seal, trimmed for ultimate smoothness in the cocking cycle and shooting stroke, really brought this rifle into its own. The trigger has been fully worked over as I hand polished all of the touching components. Notice the SD of only 2 fps across a 20 shot string.

This is an heirloom rifle, being offered fully tuned and shipped for only $675 within the continental US. To include the rifle complete with the Vortex Diamondback 6-24x50 FFP scope on top of Sportsmatch vertically adjustable mounts, complete with field verified dope chart with both hold over and clicks settings verified, add $400.

Since the original listing, I have added the original test performance chart, comparing the out-of-the-box text results to the post complete tune test results. This rifle performs better than any out-of-the-box rifle will.

Thanks.

Brocock/BRK  Thinking Brocock

So one name keeps coming up and I find it interesting is Brocock. But there doesn’t seem to be any long term information about them or I’m an idiot that can’t use the internet (likely). If I take the plunge to buy their rifle and for whatever reason I hate it what’s the resale gonna be like? I don’t mind spending the money but I hate wasting it.

Traditional Rifle  SOLD SOLD: Collectable AND Accurate: Anschutz LG 250, with or without sights

I bought this from Anschutz in 1975 so that I could participate in the “new” Air Rifle competition at the 15th US International Shooting Championships at the Black Canyon Range (now Ben Avery Shooting Center) in Phoenix. That was the only match I ever shot with it. The inspection sticker for the match is still on the stock. Since then, it has been carefully maintained in my safe and fired only occasionally (it is pristine!) when someone new to shooting wanted to try a few shots in the backyard. Zero recoil! Early last year I read about the possibility of leaking in the recoil compensation mechanism and checked it…..happy to see that no leakage had occurred. To make sure it did not happen going forward, I replaced all of the seals and piston buffer, refilled the piston, and replaced the main spring with parts and guidance from John MacLeod at Custom Gun Parts in the UK. It shoots as well as it ever did! Chronograph test shows muzzle velocity for RWS R10 Match ten shots: 573, 575, 583, 587, 584, 581, 579, 575, 582, 585 = average 580.4 +/- 4.7 (0.8 %)
Has original Instruction booklet with test target.
$850 WITH original 6702 Anschutz sights shipped in hard plastic/boxed case. $650 WITHOUT sights.
Feel free to ask questions through PMs.

FX  Dynamic 700 in .30 Cal what next

Looking for a truck type gun, would like to occasionally shoot out to 100 but mainly sub 100.

On the fence between the panthera hunter compact, model with folding stock in a .22 cal

or a m3 impact 600mm in .25 cal

edgun lieshy 2 in .35 450mm

I know the M3 has more practical uses shooting ability etc.

I like the idea of the panthera for being able to stock the same spare parts. New to the noco world thanks for any input.

Banned from Extreme Benchrest

The official version is: "The upper management at the Rio Salado range where very disturbed at a Russian being invited to EBR 2022". Utah Airguns declared me as a Team Member for 2023, but hosts of Extreme Benchrest declined registering me as a participant.
IMG-20230802-WA0049.jpg

Here is how I see the situation:

Before the registration to Extreme Benchrest was open Utah Airguns declared their Team shooters as a participants of Extreme Benchrest 2023. All shooters but me were registered . The reason was *quote*: "the range officials were not happy about Nikolay being there during the current climate".
WhatsApp Image 2023-08-02 at 20.27.20.jpeg

I hoped that this situation will be solved in a few days, but it didn't, so I wrote a message and had a polite talk with Robert, owner of Airguns of Arizona that holds EBR competitions, a week after registration was close. His answer was *quote*: "The upper management at the rio salado range where very disturbed at a Russian being invited to EBR 2022. ... Utah team has estimated 43 shooters with names that we managed to get registered. Yours was not on the early list. ... We have a waiting list that we have put you on but I cannot guarantee a spot."

Another quote from AOA FaceBook acoounts told that:
1691067468041.png

1691067866908.png

As we can see AOA changed their position after I published my post in the Social Media and now tells that there was an issue with Rio Salado shooting range in 2022 only and as for now I just didn't make it into registration. So I decided to check the facts and I had a prove from UA that my name was in the list before registration started (the first print screen in the message). So I understood that Robert lied to me in at least one fact in his message.

Another fact check showed that it was not a Rio Salado shooting range decision not to make me in Extreme Benchrest:
WhatsApp Image 2023-08-02 at 20.21.03.jpeg

So, the main two thesis that were announced by Airguns of Arizona as a reason for not letting me in (1 - "the range officials were not happy about Nikolay being there during the current climate", 2 - "your name was added too late after the event filled") didn't pass though the fact check and seems to be lies.
The fact is that my name was declared as a UA Team shooter for Extreme Benchrest 2023 before the registration started, but I was the only person from the team that was not registered as a shooter with no announced reason.

Pellet Lube, difference?

I lube my pellets with Beeswax Furniture polish and have had respectable results, just for giggles I thought I'd lube up 5 with Tri-Flow and see if my speed increased or decreased. Gun used was a Maverick .25 with a 600mm barrel..Pellets JSB 33.95 890 fps. I fired a few rounds to settle in the gun, then the 5 with beeswax, 890fps, then the 5 with the Tri-Flow, result....890fps. No deviation in accuracy was noted, range was 25 yard, rested

Let's talk fitness. Yes - it matters. What are you doing to stay in shape?

"If you're not fit, you're gonna die"
-Garand Thumb

I think what he meant by that is that if SHTF and you're way out of shape, you'll be one of the first to die. And that definitely resonates with me. To be honest, I used to be way overweight. Not only was I physically unfit, but I was in a bad place mentally with a bad job, loser girlfriend, and just generally unhappy about 7 years ago. I got rid of the loser girlfriend, quit my sh1tty job, went back to classes to get a PMP certification, and most importantly - GOT IN SHAPE. Or at least started getting in shape. I feel like I have a lot more work to do, but I realize the power is fully within myself (and also in you) to change the negative things about life to create a more positive and healthy existence both physically and mentally. Since then I have vastly improved my physical and mental health, and also my wealth, by investing in myself.

I tried to inspire anyone with 20 seconds to spare via a short I made today:

I do 10 miles per day on an old 1980's Schwinn Airdyne exercise bike every day before work. I hated it at first. Had to start with only 2 miles, then 3, then stepped it up to 5, then finally 10. It takes me about 35 minutes every morning to complete the 10 miles while I watch Youtube videos. It has become a ritual, and honestly I will not let myself miss a day - even if I'm sick or whatever. Since I began doing it I've lost like 50 or 60 lbs. In a very real way, that Schwinn Airdyne bike that I garbage picked has turned my life around. I also try and do 50 situps every other day and 100 pushups every other day on rotation. I also have about a 90lb curlbar that I use a lot while watching TV. I think those things, mixed with an active lifestyle including playing hardcore paintball every other weekend or so has done a lot to keep me in decent shape. And, yes, being in decent shape makes you a better shooter 100% - this is not debatable.

What are some things you guys are doing to stay in shape or get fit? Is this something you think about? If not, you should. You have the power to create a healthier you! Stay positive and believe in yourself, kings! 👑👑👑

Interested in hearing your guys' feedback!

Crosman  Entry level PCP pistol.

I got a Air venturi avenger a couple years ago and a fill station for workshop. And now my 30th birthday is coming up in two months! And now I've been meaning to get a PCP air pistol for the longest time for my second PCP. My goals for my pistol wish list are I want something more convenient and light weight for offhand target practice. And I narrowed it down to a few entry level pistols either the Crosman Prod/NOTOS/Diana Bandit or Beeman 2027 and or the hasten jet. Any recommendations would be appreciated!?
