NEED HELP! "WIN-A-TIN" A successful hunt with a "Pneu" rifle. Meat for the pot too (see pix)

I did a little hunting yesterday for about an hour or so early in the AM before I had to work at TopGun-Airguns. I got 3 nice tender bunnies with my "Pneu" rifle. It's an FX .22 Compact M4 in copper, with a 700cc bottle and a DonnyFL suppressor.

Most shots were at about 50-60 yards. As you can see no bruising on the bodies, as I only take headshots. I do this for 2 reasons:

A) it's more humane as the rabbit never knows what hit them. The interesting thing is NERVES. We've all heard "ah, they're only kicking like that because of nerves". Yesterday's hunt proved that in spades. Shot a bunny in the brain. Started jumping like you couldn't believe. Felt bad for it, walked right up to it and put TWO more .22 pellets of about 34 FPE right into its brain. STILL JUMPED for a couple of seconds. I guess the brain is getting all kinds of final signals crossed up, but it was surely not cognizant of what wsas ging on with that much brain damage.

B) Bruising of the meat. Shots to the heart/lungs cause the rabbit to live longer (and I don't like most animals to suffer). Remember: Besides the physical damage/trauma/shock, the method of death is either suffocation from lack of O2 from the lungs, or the heart not pumping blood to the lungs, etc.. Since death isn't "instant", the heart is pumping blood to the wounded area. This causes a hematoma that IMHO ruins the meat. It takes me MUCH longer to clean out the Hematoma that becomes a clot vs. a nice head shot.

From the rabbits I'll make a really tasty stew. I'm not bragging, as I got the recipe off the internet, but BOY IS IT DELICIOUS!!! Carrots, celery, potatoes, some wine (and I don't even drink) make for a REALLY good meal. My employees love it. The picture is from our loading area at TopGun-Airguns. The employees at TopGun-Airguns eat very well, as I often cook (especially in the summer) a great Italian spaghetti meal, or hamburgers, etc.. In the winter I'll make stews. Come for the employment, stay for the food!!!!! We'll serve to our customers too.

Post a request below if you'd like to know my recipes (either for the rabbits, or genuine Italian Gravy (NO! It's NOT sauce, despite what my wife and half my friends say!!!! The other half call it Gravy like it should be called :) )

Read further below for more info and HOW YOU CAN GET A FREE TIN OF PELLETS

As for the RIFLE
1) The rifle is an FX M4 Copper COMPACT with a 500mm barrel, but still shoots at 900 f/s. I had to slow it down from about 1000 f/s with the Power Wheel.
2) The bottle is a 700cc (the one shown is TopGun's 250 BAR Bottle, but I'm going to switch it out to a TopGun 700cc x 300 Bar.
3) I get over 200 full power shots on a fill!
4) This puppy is QUIET! Thank you Donny! Who can name the suppressor?
5) The pistol is shown is one of my EDC, and I include it because I LOVE 45 ACP's. Can you name it?

HOW TO WIN A FREE TIN OF PELLETS
Can you think of a name for this rifle? I was thinking Compact Hunter, but IIRC that name is taken.
Whoever comes up with an AWESOME name that we choose, gets a FREE TIN of pellets of their choice sent to their home (in the 50 U.S. States, or territories that I can ship via U.S. Mail)

Let's here you ideas for the name.

Inserting shameless photo of my ugly mug into this post here :)

What JSB Most Similar to .25 FX 34 gr

As some of you know, there is a shortage of FX brand pellets on the market due to overseas events etc and it is a bit harder to find FX pellets in stock.

I love the FX 34 gr in .25 and have found it occasionally but want to see what JSB is most similar.

I'm confused at the MKII and other nomenclature like "deep" "shallow" etc. Obviously I know what those mean i just need to know which JSB is most similar to these .25 34 gr FX.

I suppose you can suggest other brand but I really prefer to order from Trenier so JSB is only other he's got.

Thanks!!

Kral Arms  Purpose built airguns

I really enjoy having a rifle built for the purpose it's intended for. To me that means accuracy, power, and shot count match it's intended use. Since for me that's different for a lot of applications I keep them based on budget guns that I build out with custom parts so they do what I need, when I need it, without spending thousands of dollars. I can have multiple guns for the cost of one and not sacrifice anything. I have 5 shots per fill, light, accurate guns that put out 100fpe in .30 or a hunting gun doing 3 shots at 300fpe in .357 and plinkers doing a full tin of pellets on a fill at 10fpe plus many in between. My latest build is a .35 bighorn in a puncher breaker stock. TJ barrel at only 22" can do a full 7 shot magazine plus a few follow up shots with FX Hybrids at near 150fpe and with the tube and only filling to 3000psi it's only 8lb plus optics and a buddy bottle in the backpack keeps me shooting big critters all day. I don't like re-tuning a gun everytime my needs change so I keep an assortment of purpose built guns on hand. Anyone else feel this way or am I just crazy about the building process which is YES... 😆

The picture still has the factory barrel installed but the TJ is on there now.

FWB  Robert Law ARH 120 stock

eBay find
Super cool stock.

Nice overall condition. Finish looks to have darkened.
9 coats of epoxy finish? Has some interesting grain and fiddleback.
Needs a new Pachmayr pad. Nice Pachmayr quick disconnect swivel mounts. Nice because I don’t want a sling. So I can remove them and just leave the bases. Hard to find, Pachmayr quick disconnect swivels are definitely cool.
Leave as is or restore? 🤔

  • Question
N/A  Chose between

should I pick a Revere or HW100 carbine to replace a Marauder F&T in 177. Mostly shooting paper and starlings under 50 yards but would like something that just feels better in my hands. The marauder is very accurate but just never felt right when handling. I’m not looking for a huge shot count but in the area of 45-50 would be nice. Thinking safari version on Revere side.

N/A  Need help choosing

I need some help to figure out what airgun is best for my needs.I have been trying to find the right gun for my needs but it's been hard. I ended up with a gauntlet sl30 that's great but too much for my back yard pigeon's. I want something .22 or .25, 30-50 fpe, decent shot count and reliable. Around $500. And suggestions would be appreciated.

PCP Rifle  NLA NLA WTS FX Crown MK 2 GRS (Reduced)

I’m selling my FX Crown MK 2 in GRS. It is a .22 cal with a 380 barrel. This gun exudes quality with the accuracy you expect of a gun of this quality. I have way too many guns. I don’t think I have shot a tin of pellets through this gun. Scope and rings not included. $1400.00 shipped in factory hard case. Paypal F&F preferred but will accept a check if you don’t mind waiting until it clears. It loves 18.13’s, but if you turn the power down to 5 it will shoot anything well. Gets easily 100:shots per fill. Mag included.

Airgun Letter by Tom Gaylord

As probably many of you "seasoned veterans" know, “The Airgun Letter” was an 8-16 page monthly newsletter filled with airgun-related info, reviews, and detailed photos written by Tom Gaylord. It ran from March 1994 to May 2002. Anything and everything about airguns were reviewed, including a MAC-1/LD Mark I, springers, ten-meter guns, and plinkers. There were reviews of airgun shows, ballistics tests, pellet traps, airgunsmithing, co2, compressed air, pump, antiques, hunting, air shotgun, and a ton more.

I always found these to be a wealth of knowledge and more interesting than some of the old airgun magazines. I happen to have a set of the letters from April 1996 thru April 2002 and quite honestly haven't seen them for sale anywhere on the Airgun forums or eBay for several years

So my question is does anyone feel these have any value anymore or are they just too dated? I was going to post in the classifieds but I wasn't even sure of the value and what a reasonable asking price would be. Unfortunately, there are no airgun shows nearby for me to get additional feedback so just thought I would reach out for any opinions. Thanks

FX  FX King berserk Fps

I have recently been singing the praises of my Fac King's consistency and accuracy. Have been using Zan 25.5 slugs at 920 fps with an extreme spread of just 7 FPS. Yesterday it jumped up to 1000 fps for several very consistent shots, then dropped back down to it's tuned 920 fps for a few again super consistent shots. Then it went back up to the 1000 FPS!!! Anybody any ideas? Thanks

Slug dies .22

Hey dont know if you guys are interested or not but i made some .22 slug molds and they are already up on eBay, jsut look for the add with this id 305946318163, just search for it and you Will find it, please let me know what you guys think about it and if it would be something you wanted to get! :), the slugs are 27/28gr very consistent and with a bit hollow point for max impact even on low power airguns, did this because its way cheaper to make your own slugs and maybe with Higher qualitty, and to avoid paying alot just for a Simple mold !

Snowpeak  M60B leak

My M60B is leaking from the connection from the bottle adapter to the steel threaded fitting with the tiny o ring and the 4 hex screws (does anyone know what this part is called? Threaded qd fitting maybe)
I replaced the o ring and it’s still leaking. It is screwed on as tight as possible, so no, it’s not that, and yes, the new o ring is still good. I know some of those pieces had machining issues from the factory but I can’t see anything wrong on mine so I’m at a loss unless there is something in the bottle adapter that could be causing the leak.
I filled it and shot a mag through it when I first got it and then had to deal with some things so it hadn’t been shot or filled since. The leak is pretty bad. Empties from full fill in just a few hours.
It’s basically new. No mods or anything and it leaks right away. Not really happy about the quality control. The more I read about them the more issues I’m seeing.

FWB  Scopes on 10 meter rifles

As much as I enjoy shooting iron sights I recently put a scope on my FWB 300 S. Originally I thought I’d just try it for a little while then put the original diopter sight back on. But I’ve learned that it’s a lot more fun to be able to hit tiny targets that I couldn’t even see before with the stock sights. I even moved back to 46 feet, the max I have in my basement. Where I live it’s the only place I have to shoot without going to the club. Makes this wonderfully accurate rifle much more versatile to me.

The state of trying to buy a new SSP air pistol.

Hello all,

New member here. Maybe you can relate to my plight. Recently I was gifted an HW95. Like a junkie, the first hit was free. Also like a junkie, or a not particularly clever fish, I have been hooked.

Now I’d like to expand my collection, starting with an air pistol. Due to sound constraints, and not really feeling like buying a whole set of auxiliary equipment, I think a single shot pneumatic pistol is just the thing I’m looking for. I’d love to practice accurate shots, hone in grouping. Ya know, match style shooting in the back yard.

Am I late to the party? Have I missed the golden era of SSPs? There seems to be only one model that isn’t a Glock or 1911 lookalike that appears to be in stock, and it is still anpparently attempting to be a 1911 lookalike.

I don’t just mean this post as a whine fest, I am genuinely looking for advice. Is the HW75 worth $600? Is the AV V10 worth $300? Or would that money be better spent on a used air pistol from a classifieds ad?

Does everyone like that these airguns are trying to look like firearms? Because I don’t. I like glocks and 1911s, but I love the kind of weird look that air pistols historically have. I love the look of the match grade PCPs and the Baikals (and the AV Baikal rerelease, I would love to get my hands one of either).

Let me know what you think, or let me know if I as a beginner am out of line.

Barrels  SOLD Brk ghost .177 barrel kit

I have a .177 barrel kit with carbon fiber shroud, breech bolt and 3 magazines. Came with the ghost when purchased. I prefer the .30, that rifle came with. Take out two screws, replace barrel and bolt. You’re all set. AOA lists kit at $598, each mag at $125. That’s over $900, plus tax. Will sell for $775 plus shipping. Barrel is 23 inch
