I shoot at the Diablo Rod and Gun Club - (MPR) Multi-purpose Range- in Concord CA. most every Wednesday 9 am to 12 pm and from Lane #8. I prefer to sale to a local airgunner who can meet me to test fire the gun. I will pay for your range fees. Buyer must complete a simple "range test" at https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/5e3a418039844/kiosk/ This is the "blue card" the RSO at the range will ask for.

This will make you eligible to shoot at the Multi Purpose Range. I'm known at my club range to shoot only at 200 yard targets and at 2 inch MOA. I shoot Zan 37 grain slugs at 990 fps as my gun was tuned for heavy slugs by Utah Air.

I can ship UPS ground if needed.

Is it possible that starlings are quicker than a speedy pellet?

I see that there are lots of post about starling kills but I'm not so lucky. I quit feeding birds cause the pig eating starlings clean house on the suet.
I set up a plan and placed the suet in my firing range at 30 yards. The starlings found it zappo...with my LCS .30 I was zeroed in dead on at 30 yards. The black birds landed, p
I pulled the trigger and missed. I'd look at the suet cage and the pellet hit exactly where I was aiming. This happened several times.

I figured that the starlings heard the gun fired and they are so quick that they flew off before the pellet impacted. The speed of sound is 1125.328 ft/sec. 30 yards is 90 feet. With my pellet velocity of about 700 fps this gives the snappy black bird a split second to scat. But, I'm sure I just missed.

HW/Weihrauch  Tips for tuning HW97 / HW77 / Springers

Let's compile a list of tuning tips for Do It Yourself tuners to share ideas on tuning or servicing HW97 or 77 or even general springer tuning tips.

Let's keep in mind that no one is claiming to be a gunsmith or professional tuner and these are just amature sugestions that we remember only for ourselves.
We just want to share our ideas for educational purposes only.

OK I will start and it's my hope that the best list of tuning tips the world has ever seen, will emerge as we all share our ideas:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

-
Tip #1 Don't forget to have fun. If your not having fun while tuning your springer ..... -You're doing it wrong. -
_
Tip #2 Tap the trigger pins out from Right to Left..... The pins on the Record trigger are designed to be tapped out from the Right to the Left and installed from Left to Right this is a general rule in gunsmithing.

Tip #3 Trump won the election never for get that... OK just haviing fun.

Tip #4 Use a torque screwdriver with hollow ground bits so you can tighten all fasteners to specs and not booger up all your screws. The Wheeler Fat Wrench is probably the most popular choice and for good reason.

Tip #5 Don't over tighten the rear trigger screw. Weihrauch recommends 20 inch-pounds but 20 is too much. I tightend my rear screw to 20 and stripped out the nut. The nut that attaches to this screw is thin and only holds by a few threads. I would suggest no more than 15 in-lbs.

Please add to our list as you see fit. Thank you!

Almost a full page of ASP20 groups at 35yds

Decided to sort some pellets to see if there could be any improvement made. The first 2 groups are unsorted and then going clockwise the rest are semi sorted. Basically anything that fell within 16-16.2gr was put on paper. My conclusion is basically, yeah probably if I put some more effort into it. The less than ideal groups can definitely have some blame put on me. More than once did it go from no wind to a good breeze that I should have caught. Anyway...

How do you store your airguns?

Hey all,

Looking for ideas about how to securely store airguns. I have friends coming to visit with young children next weekend, and my current method of storage for my airguns is closet corners, or on top of my bedroom dresser, or sometimes the kitchen table. In general, having my airguns locked up when they are not on duty, seems like a good idea. My experience with safes/cabinet made for firearms is that airguns don't fit them well, due to how high the guns tend to be from scope to bottom of stock/grip, and the bullpup/carbines can be too short for the safe/cabinet as well.

I was thinking a deep garage cabinet, that I can make my own standoffs, hanging hooks, etc for, might be a good option. A taller one would have space up top for shelves for all the airgun gear. Getting it all organized and in one place would be nice, and then I can slap a padlock on when I want to secure them.

How do you all store your airguns?

Thanks

Filling Bottles with Air Cooled Compressor

Even though they say, "Not for Bottles", is there any reason you couldn't fill a 100 cu in bottle if you took your time and did it in 3-5 cycles? Tell me if I have this right? You hook the compressor whip to the bottle. You open the bleed valve on the compressor and start it. Close the bleed valve and open the bottle valve. After 5-10 minutes or the compressor temp goes up, you shut the compressor of and open the bleed valve and close the bottle valve. Wait 10-15 minutes and restart the compressor, close the compressor bleed valve and open the bottle valve. And just keep cycling till the bottle is up to 3000-3500 psi? The bottle has a one way valve so do you even need to close it during the rest? My uncommon sense says it is not the number of cycles but the compressor temperature. And, you shouldn't start the compressor if it has pressure on it (the bleed valve must be open).

Yong Heng seems to be the recommended name, but i don't want to fool with the water. They offer an air cooled shoe box type, are they comparable to the ToAuto, Spiritech, Vevor and GW 2CX? I am trying to stay under $350 including a 3-4 year warranty from Amazon or Walmart.

My poor bucktail...

First off I must say I have been very impressed with the bucktail moderator. I prefer it over my tatsu as far as sound suppression goes. But today I was testing new slugs and different weight pellets ( all 20-30gr) I was really pushing my compact.. I kinda had a feeling the buckrail wasn't going to take it..but pushed the limit anyway. Before I knew it I noticed it splitting apart. Normally I run 18gr pellets at 33fpe and it held up just fine.. after my little test and tune day... I'm back to 18gr pellets and yes I ordered another buckrail 😁

2 for 1 at 109yds

Was shooting pigeons with my Evol Mini today and was shooting long range. Got a few around 128-130yds and some landed at 109yds. Took a shot at one and nailed it. Was 10 others with it. Half flew off the others kinda walking around thinking what the hell just happened. I then noticed the one was limping really bad then walked to the right and just dropped and died within 10 secs. I've had 2 for 1s before but never at this long of a distance. Pretty crazy with only 16fpe on target at that distance to go through one and kill the next.

Prophet II compact, Air in eye

Its coming from the barrel screw in front of the magazine,
I replaced the O ring that didn't help, Placed reflon tape on the screw, No help, I can place my finger on the screw while shooting and that keeps the pop of air at bay, I even tried a bigger o ring that didn't work, It twisted in the hole. So what's the secret fix?

Q for TX200 MKIII owners...

So I rebuilt much of my TX200 MKIII after about 15,000 to 20,000 rounds. It has been doing great. New spring, compression tube, seals, bearings etc. However I couldn't get a cocking shoe. As it is a major pressure point it seemed like it could wear.

Anyway, today I was shooting at 100-yards and noticed that it had some spring noise and was a bit inconsistent.

At home the chronograph showed it jumping around. It was in the upper 800's at the top end. Lower than it had been with these 8.4s I used to test. The breech seal looked a bit off so I replaced it. I relubed the action while I was at it. Now, in fairness I had been running some relatively tight slugs recently. I would expect those to stress tge breech seals. The heat and humidity can mess with things due to condensation as well.

After tweak, the chronograph showed a jump to low 900's with the 8.4s and an ES of 7fps over 5-8 shots. New seal and lube so it will settle a little yet.

Question 1: How often do you TX200 owners find yourself replacing breech seals.

Question 2: When my cocking rod releases front stop there is about an inch of free play before the slack to cock starts. Is that about where yours is?

Question 3: Pyramid is out of cocking shoes. All other vendors appear to be as well. Anyone have a sourse for a new cocking shoe? My fear is the wear may have left a larger gap at the barrel causing undue stress on the breech seals.

Obviously I can just mass order breech seals, but a bulk source would be great in that case.

Picked up another Bluestreak!

This Sheridan is out if North Carolina!
I spotted it at a pawn shop, with a pretty low quality photo. Although I don't think it was malicious, it was a bit of a bait, and switch. The photo I was looking at was a pre 65, Bluestreak in nice shape. When I called to ask about the guns particulars, they said that it was in good shape, but it did have a crack in the foerarm, so I asked for pic's. The crack is nearly invisible, with no chips. At this point I still hadn't noticed the bait and switch. So I ask over the phone, does it function? He says sure, and he starts pumping. Then he says I pumped it, but it doesn't shoot. So I tell him if the plunger is bad it won't pump up, He says, it pumped up, I could feel that. I told him raise the bolt and pull it all the way back until it clicks. He says ok I've got it. So i say don't shoot it it may be loaded. So he fired it into a safe trap, with a nice loud snap. So, I buy it! Then a while later, I notice the photo they sent was of a differnt Bluestrak. So, This one is going to be between 65, and 71. I'll have hands on it this evening. 👍
