Habor Freight Rifle case on sale for $99.00 Black Friday special.

Hi all and Happy Thanksgiving. I saw that Harbor Freight has their rifle case on sale again for $99.00. I believe that for the price, they are bargain. I think you may need one of their coupons for that price. Unless you are an Inside Track member, it appears you have to wait until Friday to get the $70.00 off $169.00 price. Just a heads up regarding the price.

Have a great start to your Holiday season. Happy and straight shooting to everyone!

Huben  GK1 STOCK PT.2. DONE.

This worked out great. Using a belt across my torso, with the Huben behind me, it is a mini scabbard. It's, (the stock), is fully adjustable. Can go higher for scope use. I made a pattern and sent it, as well as measurements to my friend Jim in Ohio who did the fabrication. Many thanks, Jim. Also, I put a piece of thin plastic between the Huben block and the stocks mounting plate to prevent marring the Huben. Bill and Addi

Doing your best vs. doing the best that you can do

I had a conversation the other day with a fellow field target shooter that led me to contemplate what "doing my best" vs. "doing the best that I can do" means to me. I think I put my finger on an important difference.

Doing my best on the range is achievable every time out. It means successfully using the skills and equipment I have and getting the best score I can expect under the conditions that day. It means not having any of those "Dang, I shouldn't have missed that one!" shots. No matter my score I come away feeling good when I do my best (conversely I still grumble to myself when I don't do my best even if I got high match score, lol). It is what I strive for every match. I witnessed the same from a competitor recently when he posted his "career high" score as he put it. He didn't win the match but he was still exuberant.

Doing the best that I can do..........I don't know what that is and I will never find out. It's somewhere the other side of the line I draw where fun becomes tedious, repetitious, nauseous practice. It's the tumultuous rare air occupied by champions who are never satisfied and always strive to improve no matter how good they are and that's what makes them champions. I don't want to live there.

I think I like striving to do my best best.

Ultimate squirrel rifle setup(PCP/piston)

Hello,
I was wondering what you folks consider YOUR perfect squirrel buster rifle setup? Maybe you have it already who knows. What gun, caliber, pellets or slugs, preferred max shot distance, power level, etc. I currently use a rti prophet 1 with the 22lr barrel shooting 25.39 at about 947 for about 50fpe. I am sighted in at 30 yds.

Let's hear and see those squirrel busters!

Thanks
Jon

FX  "NEW" Appreciation of my .25!

I purchased my 1st brand new airgun in 2017, an FX Royale 500 from Utah Airguns. It was a dream for me stepping up from entry level to higher tier guns. It's always been an amazing shooter & great hunting gun but a few months after purchasing I found an FX Boss .30 for a great price & couldn't pass it up. It became my favorite & my go-to for all my hunting. This has been the norm for 6 years. I'd only occasionally pull out the Royale. Ground Squirrel "season" is all but over for now in my area but I've still gone out a few times lately just to plink & practice & stay in shape. The other day I went out with all 3 of my guns but pulled the Royale out 1st to put through its paces. I never got around to pulling out my Boss or Bobcat (.22) that day because I was having such a mind blowing, ecstatic experience shooting my Royale! I'd absolutely forgotten what a smooth, quiet & superbly accurate laser I owned. From 50 to 92 yards anything up to a dime size target didn't stand a chance! HOW DID I NOT REMEMBER what this gun is capable of & how hard it hits at 905fps? It's almost like having a new gun again & for now, my current go-to! What an enjoyable time I had reestablishing my connection with a superb shooter! (Sorry I didn't mount my camera but I only really use it for hunting)

Screen Shot 2023-11-22 at 10.21.07 AM.png

BRK has announced the limited initial release of a new Ghost. The Silver Ghost will be initially released in December to select gun shops.

Featuring eye-catching brushed nickel metalwork, BRK expects to increase production of the Silver Ghost for increased distribution in the new year.

Priced at £1,750, a .177 and .22 12 ft/lbs Plus model will be aimed at the UK market. An HP (High Power) model costing £1,860 will be marketed overseas in .22 calibre with an output up to 65 ft/lbs. The Silver Ghost will also be available with the option of a silver 0db silencer with other unique accessories also planned.

Supplied with a hard case, the BRK Silver Ghost shares all its features with the standard Ghost model: a fully adjustable, match-style trigger, fully shrouded barrel with a ½ in UNF thread for an additional silencer, cross-bolt manual safety, adjustable Picatinny scope rail and three additional accessory rails. A full range of accessories including butt pads, grips and rails are also available – including a cheekpiece riser which allows the BRK’s magnetic magazine to ‘double-up’ by twinning two units back-to-back, offering an impressive onboard payload of between 22 shots in .22 and 26 in .177 calibre.

Y'all been using the wrong Loctite

Just kidding, but I did find this a bit interesting.

Purple Loctite (#222) is for 1/4" (~6mm) and smaller fasteners - in other words, EVERY fastener on an airgun.

Blue Loctite (#243) is for 1/4 - 3/4" (6-20mm) fasteners.

Obviously, other brands may be different colors.

Iguana hunter camouflage for gun super soaker or nerf gun ?

I live in a small town/city and any display of what could possibly be an assault weapon will bring a police response.
In a effort to alleviate any potential concerns of neighbors I’ve decided to
Decorate my FX M3 to appear as a toy
Bright yellow, blue and pink ? Maybe even
Cannibalize a toy gun for pieces to give a realistic appearance of it being a toy.
Anyone else try this ?

My Aussie Coon Dog...Unreal

My Australian Shepard last year was introduced to coons in the apple trees. I knocked 3 out with my .30 cal Hatsan, semi-auto. He was just 2 years old but he ripped into on of the coons like crazy. I play tug-a-war with him and it paid off the night.
This morning I let him out around 630 and he didn't come back in for over a half hour. I got concerned and called him in. He was totally wired up. Something was up. He ran back out down to the lake and insisted that he had something going on. I put my slippers on and went out in the rain to see if it was for real. I looked up several trees and saw nothing...Rowdy kept running over to the spruce tree.. so I walked over there...sure enough! A big coon was hanging out up there about 20 feet up.

My wife just came to bed so I'll have to tell the rest of the story tomorrow. Unreal! Love Rowdy!

Curious numbers

If you click on the leader board you will see that some members have a number between member and their location:

Member · 63 · From North Alabama

Member · 78 · From Scottsville, Alan County , Kentucky, United States

Member · 50 · From Calgary, Alberta

Etc, etc, etc...

Not all members have this number, so it got my curiosity going.

What is the significance of this number? What does it mean?

Thanks!

All my best!

Kerry

p.s.

I have yet to see any of those numbers exceed 2 digits. In other words, I have never seen 100, 101, etc. If that makes any difference?

FX  Backyard Total Beast Build

So I finally got dream build finished for close range pest control. It's my original M3 Compact in a .30 cal 500mm config and a Element HYPR-7 prism scope. I tried out a few LPVO's with tactical turrets and turned my interest toward a 4x-5x prism sight. The only problem was they all had BDC recticles for 5.56 or .308 drops. The HYPR-7 was the solution for that.

So this is powered by a Air Marksman 300 bar bottle and the only internal mod so far is a FX tungsten hammer. It's pushing a JSB .30 44.75g pellet out at 878 FPS. I have three Impulse Air mods and I really like them. With just the shroud it sounds like a .22 going off. The Impulse 1350 with two extra baffles makes it really neighbor friendly.

20231121_143702.jpg

The HYPR-7 prism sight was everything I was expecting and more. The glass is amazing and the digital HUD shown on the internet does not do it justice. The text and recticles were crisp and clear. I just had to make my own recticle for this beast :)
20231121_223832.jpg

The digital zeroing on this scope is sooo dam easy. I took one shot and hit paper. Then fired off the rest of the mag and punched these holes. I'm really proud of that top right with it's 5 round group. You can see the single sight in round on the bottom row where there are two holes in one of the small bullseyes. Most of the 3 round groups were a little larger that what is shown. When I laid the target flat some of the blown out paper folded back in the main holes and makes the group look tighter than it really was. Still, I'm pretty happy with the result considering it was done with a low powered prism scope. This was shot at 25 yards.

Time for Squirrelicide!

N/A  Huben k1 .25 or huben k1

so I was able to narrow down a few Huben’s in 25 which is what I want but I also have a great deal for a 22 special edition which is very attractive being that it has all the carbon fiber and walnut stock but that doesn’t serve any purpose to the actual gun, and what its capabilities are, which is what I love about the huben but have only shot my buddies .25 and it hits soooooo hard. I’ve been a .25 guy but most recently had .22 maverick and .22 Brocock sniper but it didn’t put down some small game like I would have liked to but ultimately got the job done so next would be accuracy im pretty sure there’s maybe slightly a difference in accuracy (capabilities) I think a .22 round has better ballistic coefficient then a .25 but I could be way wrong and that’s just what I was told By somebody.
Anyhow, if anybody has an opinion on this, feel free to chime in thank you and thank you to the community for previous helpP
