Finally found the guns I love.

I experimented a lot in the beginning of my PCP adventure, I bought a few AEA semi autos and I had a 50 cal bullpup, I had a few Hatsans. The AEA bullpup was fantastic but the semi-autos left a lot to be desired. I ended up selling all of them, now I have a Huben K1 .25 cal, a Huben GK1 .25, in my opinion the very best PCP pistol you can get by a long ways. And the jewel of my collection is the western rattler .35, Love how powerful that gun is in semi-auto. And I kept my .25 Hatsan Sortie for my kids to shoot. I spent a lot of money when I got into this hobby but I am really happy with the four guns I now have. I don't regret the money I spent at the beginning though because it was a learning experience, I had a lot of fun with all the guns I bought getting to the point I am now.

PCP Rifle  SOLD FX Crown Mk II VP - .177 cal. 500mm synthetic

This rifle was purchased by me last year from Utah Airguns, and it is a fantastic precision shooter. It allowed me to shoot my 2nd ever 200 in the "30-Yard Challenge". Unfortunately, I have moved on to a different hobby, so this rifle needs a new shooter. The only modification from stock is that I added a front picatinny rail for a bipod.

Details: 500mm .177 barrel, will include a 0db Moderator .177/.22 size, stock magazine, single-shot magazine, shipped in original box with manual.
Current tune: I had my best accuracy shooting FX 13.4g .177 pellets around 820fps. Reg is set at 100 bar.
Price: $999
Payment: Paypal only
Free shipping

Feel free to contact me with any questions or if you need more pictures. Thanks.

Trash or Treasure?

I was at the range yesterday I was talking about the Stoger X10 Rifle I got this week. While the rifle is accurate, the trigger and the original "factory" scope are crap.
The fine adjustments are just not responding to adjustments as one would hope.
A friend offer to give me a scope he no longer uses and I picked it up. While there are no mounts, the scope is still in very good condition with just a few minor scratched in its finish.
It is a Simmons model 1048 ( made in the Philippines ) 6.5x20x44 scope with turret adjustments. Midway USA still shows it on their site as a Whitetail Hunter scope.
What I like about it is it will focus from 30 feet to infinity.
It has a 25 m/m body and has coated optics and gas sealed. I'm not sure if the lens mountings will hold when the air rifle is fired?
I do have to buy higher scope rings from a seller, I hope they still make dovetail mount high rings?
Trash or Treasure?

FX  Sorted pellets effort in evidence

Continuing with my rifle maintenance checks this morning, and looking at the performance tests recently completed after sorting several thousand .25 MKI and MKII pellets to help me choose the pellets to use for this rifle’s maintenance test, the results clearly indicate what happens when everything is correct and within tolerance.

Sorted to a head size of 6.38 mm and within a 10th of a grain in tolerance, the ES was only 4 fps over 10 shots and the group sizes were significantly below the .18” moa at 18 yards.

  • Question
air venturi

I need some suggestions.

The short of it is I have a break barrel .177, .25 and .30. I've been getting away from the break barrels and moving to PCP So I bought an AEA 9mm, FX dremline .30 and an Air Venturi .25. I want a .177 PCP but can't find anything I like other than the air venturi which is the same as my .25. I really don't want two guns the same even though they would be different cal.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hickory Airgun Show... Home Now

Was great getting to see everyone again! I wont list names as there are too many.

Firstly, thanks to all who stopped by my tables to indulge me and inflate my ego by checking out and even buying some of my trinkets I make. As a relatively new smith and wood turner, it was amazing to me that folks actually take an interest in the doo dads that I make... so a very sincere thank you!

Lots of regulars at the show and Saturday had some moderate foot traffic. I think we all owe it to ourselves next year to try to spread the word and get some more foot traffic in so we can all move more stuff (and take home new stuff).

I know there were folks who traveled many states over to come here and on behalf of us all, I would like to say 'thank you' for making the trip to ensure the success of the show.

Regretfully, the only pictures I took were of the knick knacks on my table that I made so I'll post those in hopes that others had taken pics of actual airguns and can share for those who were unable to attend.

And finally, a big thank you to Tony and crew for doing the legwork and putting this together for us all!

Wrist bands as pellet tin retainer

These rubber wrist bands have become very popular in recent years. I saw one laying in the parking lot of my super market and couldn't resist picking it up. I have a couple at home that I've been using as extra heavy rubber bands. After I washed this latest acquisition I thought about seeing how it fit around a pellet tin. Not bad... not bad at all.

FX  New Crown

My local air gun shop is going out of the airgun business much to my chagrin. Stopped this morning to see what was left and ended up buying a new FX Crown Continuum in .22 with two barrels, extra mag and GRS stock for $1700.00. I think I got a good deal even though the last thing I needed was another air gun.

PCP Rifle  SOLD BSA Ultra CLX sub-12 ft lb to Sell or Trade

I have an Ultra CLX sub-12 ft lb for sale or trade. Very good condition (some stock dings on the Minelli wood stock, dang it) and accurate to the millimeter. It is a .177, has two all-metal mags, a fill probe with a Foster fitting already attached, all in a Plano black heavy lockable case that fits the rifle. The threaded muzzle has the BSA "flash suppressor" that mainly just protects the threads. The trigger is fantastic as expected: two stage, light and very crisp (let-off of the shot requires little more than a thought). I have the trigger shoe set midway down the trigger stem and canted just a smidge to the right to suit my trigger finger pad. Power is as it came from AoA when purchased early this year, giving 48 consistent, full power shots from fill to 232 bar. Magazines are the latest from BSA and hold 12 pellets each. If you are interested in a purchase I am happy to send photos. I have set a price of $450 for purchase; that price has a little room to haggle.

Alternatively, I am looking to trade for a .177 or .22 Marauder, used in good condition and manufactured within the past 3 years (better Crosman barrels). Wood or synthetic stock, not interested in a SAM - just a classic bolt action Mrod. Such a trade would have to include a couple of Marauder magazines, a single shot tray, and a soft case for the gun. Missing trade items could be covered by a decent scope on the gun, otherwise I provide my own optic.

I bought the gun as my "bucket list" gun and discovered it is more gun than I need. Best accuracy and quality I'll ever handle but not my cup of tea. I am serious about the trade for a Marauder in good condition. Contact via private message per site rules.

Skout  .25 Skout Epoch

On Sunday at EBR, in the raffle after the awards ceremony, I won a .25 Skout Epoch in Gold (they call it Champagne).

So this week I’ve shot it over the chrony with MK2 Heavy, and it shoots approx 920 fps. The only issue is that it has a slow leak somewhere, I’ll have to call Skout about that, it goes from 3000 psi to 1500 psi overnight. Other than that everything functions as designed. I replaced the stock moderator with an STO Falx high flow because it is much quieter and can’t have loud where I shoot normally.

I took it to my range this morning to break it in and sight in the scope. I shot a mag at 50 yards, them moved to 100. Shot two more mags (25 shots per mag) and the gun accuracy improved with each mag. This is ten shots after about 75 shots through the gun at 100 yards light breeze.

So then I decided to set the gun up like I would at a match, front tripod and rear ST rest. This ten shot group 100Y light breeze is after about 150 shots break in. And a pic of the gun set up for competition.

So far I am happy with the gun and just need to work out the slow leak issue. More to follow.

Sightron SIII FIELD TARGET 10-50X60 IR Why is it so recommended/used for field target?

SIII FIELD TARGET 10-50X60 IR Why is it so recommended/used for field target? More importantly for hunter division of american field target? What are the characteristics that this scope meets?

I know FFP SFP is a debate and preference as is reticle types.

I've got a Hawke Sidewinder 6-24x56 FFP Half Mill scope and a couple Athlon Argos scopes. What does the Sightron SIII FT have that these dont? Is there that much clarity and quality improvement with the SIII?
