FX  Impact M3 - Do I need a heavy liner?

I have a M3 with 500mm .22 STX Superior liner that I'm going to start shooting 23g slugs with. I had a few questions.

1) With the short 500mm length would I not need to bother with the STX Heavy liner?
2) I see guys mentioning "slug liner", What exactly makes a liner a slug liner?
3) Am I overthinking it and just go ahead and shoot with that stock STX liner?

Any input would be appreciated.

Annual Christmas Tree Rat blasting at Dad's didnt disappoint

This year was a good one! Had rain til 2pm, but I knew my patience would pay off. Tossed out some sunflower seeds and corn. Didn't take long, about 3pm they were all over the yard.

I got 2 at a time, and had one get away into the trees. Most of these bowled right over DRT.

All taken with my 25 jumbo pushing 55 fpe with 34 grain jsb.

Got a couple memorable shots I took some close ups of. One I felt bead for. Shot him right through his mouth. Knocked bottom teeth out and made a mess. He went up and tried to hide, but he got a texas heart shot to finish him off!

The first squirrel gave me a quartering shot and it blew his guts out.

All in all, I had a Merry Christmas! The squirrels did NOT!

FX  FX Panthera trigger

I've been trying to tune my Panthera trigger to a fairly light setting. I also have a Dreamline which I've been able to tune to 8 oz., but I haven't been able to get the Panthera much below 13 0z. I've adjusted the first stage to the point where the gun no longer cocks, then back it out 1/4 turn. I've also worked with the second stage and nothing seems to help.
The Panthera trigger seems grittier than the Dreamline and there is lateral slop in the trigger blade.
Any suggestions on how to remedy my issues?

Hunter Class - new shooter on a budget.

New here in the forum, but not a new shooter. I currently own an Air Venturi Avenger in 22 cal. I shoot twice a month in a custom steel match from a bench. It's very enjoyable and challenging. I am however looking for a new event to compete in, hence I've found field target and the hunter class.

I've located a local club (1 of 3 in NC within an hour of me) and contacted the match director about my unique situation. See I am restricted to a wheelchair, as I am a bilateral below knee amputee. We discussed the rules and he directed me to the AAFTA website, which was very helpful.

We discussed a potential first rifle to use to compete, but i would like to hear from others their opinion. Funny enough he suggested looking into the Avenger (177) which i kinda like a i own one and like the way it shoots. Through my research I've learned the 16x restriction and am looking at the UTG Swat 4-16 x 44 AO (use one on my 22 cal currently).

Here is the question: what do you think of my choices? Would you have a different gun or scope to suggest? What accessories would you suggest are needed (bottle, case, and such)? Thanks in advanced and I look forward to becoming apart of the community.

The 1st shot/Cold bore shot?

Does the term and reference "Cold Bore"apply to air rifles, especially spring air rifles. It may not be necessarily related to the bore of the barrel as that relates to centerfire rifles but would most likely be linked to the reciever. Wether that effect is coming from the spring or from the parts that make up the piston and sleeve and lube. And would certain weather conditions effect it more or less depending on the enviromental conditions. I notice a poi shift from my very 1st shot to the the subsequent shots.

When do you start to get annoyed by a leak on your gun?

I know PCPs leak. I had my FX Impact M3 serviced a year ago for seals. They also tuned it for 30gr slugs. It is maxed out at the moment. Not that I need it to be but it is. I use it for backyard hunting raccoons in the winter for the most part. It will be shot maybe 20x a year and probably no more than 5 shots per occasion if even that. I would imagine that does not help. Anyways now it is leaking again very very slowly. 10 PSI a week. No big deal at all. But when it was new, it held pressure for a very long time. The Leshey2 I had also held pressure. It seamed like it never lost any pressure. Anyways... I am just curious. Would you service it? Should I care?

As much as I like the M3, I am starting to feel it is a total overkill and too much complication for my 20 yards distance, private war with coons. Maybe I should get something simple.

Where to purchase slugs online?

Hi All. I do not have any local buying options for most anything airgun related. Where do you have the best experience with purchasing slugs online? I’ve used UA for gear and find their customer service to be fantastic. However, I’ve compared a handful of online retailers and when it comes to the cost plus shipping, shipping doubles the price.

I know they’re literally sending lead.

Some retailers offer free shipping over $150 or $200, but I don’t need 4,000 slugs at this time. Free shipping over $50 would be nice. Pointers?

RAW - Branded Accessories?

Hey Guys,
Not sure what AirForce is up to, but they came out with a new line of (RAW) stabilization accessories which are attached via scope mount rings - I guess?
If these added weights use the scope rings, where does the scope go?

Maybe I've got it wrong, but these accessories seem ludicrous .......... does anyone understand this seemingly, superfluous addition o_O ?

No Christmas for this girl

This morning I was looking for a rabbit for Christmas dinner but this little girl decided she would try burying an acorn in the grass before heading back to her tree.
That was the last mistake she'll ever make. Caught her at the ear and I found the pellet under the skin just behind her other ear, she was essentially pithed. The bulging eye indicates surprise(lol) or just excessive cranial pressure.
Another notch on the Notos sling.
Merry Christmas everyone!
