New shot shed planned / going up ( up and running )

Seeing as the 1:5 scale gasoline RC car track investment was money well wasted by my friend, i am now entering the construction business and will construct a new shot shed there.
This shed will have a Chinese diesel heater for winter, be plenty large to house 2 shooters, and as it is almost maximising what is available on my friends land the max range will be 130 Meters.

Short backstop will be a 20 foot container ( the driver tower ) that is at 57 Meters. ( we probably put targets at 50 M here, so some ways in front of container )

Middle range back stop will be a earth berm ( 180 degree turn on the now overgrown track ) its 4-5 feet tall so should do fine as is, but a pellet trap thing might well be put up there.
This is about as far as i shoot now so 88 Meters according to google maps ruler.

Finally the long range that will be the enbankment / stone wall back stop way back in the corner where i shoot to now from the other shed on the picture, but where this have been 86 Meters it will change to be a massive 130 Meters, so that should be good wholesome fun with a .177 air rifle.

A big plus, well for two fatties like us, the shed will be in the shade most of the day as it will be up against some fairly big Fir trees, so nice comfortable shade most of a summer day.
In the winter the trees also a nice wind break.

Otherwise the general direction of shooting is also pretty much clear as far as neighbours is, well unless you overshoot massive, dont hit any of the tall trees, and a .177 can fly 1/2 mile and be a problem.

The shed will start out pretty ghetto like CUZ building materials too are not cheap here either, but i recon something like 450 USD will get us started ( that is minus the heater )

"Cheap" $16 Tripod follow up!

Just wanted to follow-up on post by "Neu" last week on the $16 tripod. Might be inexpensive but certainly NOT cheap in build quality. Received my rifle clamp yesterday & immediately mounted it on tripod. SOLID! Easily & SAFELY supports my beloved guns. What an amazing deal. Thanks again Neu!!!

I had a great xmas eve...

Well, my grown kids were busy this year so it was just me and my wife. Decided to go to the casino, she walked out 600 ahead and I came out 350 ahead. Now I already have the money for my next airgun purchase, but this just made it alot easier to justify it. Now lets see, HW98 or HW97, decisions, decisions.........

Umarex  Unexpected Happy Ending with Notos

Nooo.... not that kind of a happy ending.
So I had originally threw a cheapie scope on my Firewalker bottle conversion Notos and was happy with it. I then ordered a Carm magazine and went to pop it in and... mounts too low. With all the airgun related crap laying around here, I did not have a set of high 30mm pic rings. Go figure.

So I thought I'd throw on a red dot. This dot is from AT3, inexpensive, but I like them. Not a Holosun, but not bad! A recent Leishy shooting session with a buddy was probably my fist experience with a red dot on a carbine airgun. For whatever reason, I'd always discounted them. I liked it... so gave this a go and sighted in. Originally, my plan for this gun was 30 yards and under chipmunk removal, but I was successfully banging targets out to the 60 yard mark from a rest. Practical accuracy at 30 yards was just as good as with a scope. Might leave it, or may invest in a better red dot. Really like the chevrons so may look for one of those.

Hope all has a Merry Christmas

Brocock/BRK  BRK Ghost long or short?

I am newbie to pcp airguns. I think i want a BRK ghost. I cannot find any reviews that compare accuracy and velocity between the long and short barrel. Any info?

Trying to decide which one i should get. I will hunt with it and plink just for fun. Squirrel, coon, coyote? 25 cal is what i am leaning toward.

Also, i own nothing, so should i get a tank to fill with, or just a compressor? I like quality stuff. Is the Daystate 4500 overkill?

Tuning  HW 95 Anyone using a short spring with great results… tuning thoughts and methods.

Ok, all you Hw 95 / R9 gurus ,let’s talk..
I haven’t had one in my possession to play with in 15 years .. That being said our friend Lewis told me I needed to play with one. Get to know it.

We discussed the deal and he promised me not to send me a 2x4 …. 😆

what I did get was a new HW 95 K . The bulbous muzzle break . 🤮

first thing I did was remove that useless pineapple and shroud it with a matching the breech block width shroud with some internal love.

C4FE43DC-7F69-4369-8817-2423FC1FB586.jpeg
My question is what is one to expect from a .177 factory gun after and tin of pellets. It came with the typical 34 coil .120 x800 or so .. I don’t recall exact BUT IT WAS FACTORY BRAND NEW ..
It had spring buzz and twang bad and no matter how many tins you put through it it would not get better , guide was loose and no tophat at all
steel washer and liner.
it wasn’t shooting slow but was butter easy to cocking actually falling into the latch but over sprung none the less.
The Hw 95 is a tad longer stroke than the Hw 80 it’s compared to .. it’s as far from it as can be. Ones a short stroked big tube gun and the other is a long stroked small tube gun
Now it’s no secret that 25.mm x 100 mm is the most used platform . Every GAMO,crossman, China copy all share that platform. why ? it’s easy to get power with the platform and power sells…

The 26 mm x95 as it’s called is a bit more tricky. It’s only one mm bigger but that is worlds in air rifles..

I also have two Hw 80 I just tuned in .177 and .22.. wow 😮 they are user friendly if you do your homework..
short spring and minimal pre load as well as thinner wire with port work and piston work ,new seals and guides.

Thats another post

Anyways I was not keeping that stock set up , I put a 30 gram top hat on the factory spring to test the velocity gain and reaction of the spring. It gained a bit ,but at the cost of piston bounce .. ( I wasn’t planing on keeping it) .. yuk. BUZZZ. THHWAANG.
So my first test was with a tad bigger wire and smaller diameter I’d to fit the guide snug after .010 was removed. .125 x785
x 34 which is a tad smaller in wire than the famed Hornet spring which is .128 wire .. ANDalmost IDENTICAL TO THE HIGHLY TOUTED E 3650 spring EdCanoles praises..

It was a bit of preload but nothing I could not force down with out a compressor and twist the end on
The shot cycle was so over sprung that it was hard to shoot. Velocity was higher than hell

945 with H&N ftt 8.6 and 835 with Crossman 10.5 , this was not dieseling as a tin of pellets went through it. I HATED the gun.
Wondered how anyone would think this is good

This was odd to me as Vortek,ARH AND MOST USE A 34 coil .128 wire, and this was not pleasant. Now I can cock a air rifle but ,$@it wasn’t a walk in the park daily plinker at this point.
upon refiguring I did some re structuring .. I cut the spring down to 30 coils and added .400 in delrin spacers to get my stack . Left the factory piston seal in as well as no port work.

It’s night and day difference in every area, it’s very easy and liner to cock. it’s dead blow quiet and blasting 8.4 at 900 fps
recoil is minimum and this gun now can play.. like the “Brody”.

I have to get used to fingering these tiny sombitches.. I’ll blue the shroud to match and maybe machine the breech to match the chamber as well as custom stock now I like what I got..

oh yeah.. that HW80… another post in time.

Benjamin  Benjamin Marauder POI Shift

I am new to pcp rifles.Old to shooting.I have two 22 cal Marauders[only needed one].One is 2019 syn with crosman barrel the other a 2022 wood with LW barrel both unregulated. The marauder has many reasons for poi shift.I will discuss one that I have made better and one that I am working on.If my info is old news remember I am old too_OK taking off shroud and shooting both rifles at at spot [one at a time] at around 30 yds-no wind-on bench.Pretty much one hole group.Put shroud on snug and shoot again at same target.Yea diff poi.Now adjust shroud by shimming. Both of mine shot lower[2 inch to 3 inch] with shroud on.For test purposes I simply put layers of tape on the bottom of the barrel band until it shot into same hole as when the shroud was off and the group was first made.If conditions stay about the same[TEMP] POI is way more consistent day to day then before. Now I am working on temp change effects on POI. Rifles are inside[72] shooting from inside garage[40] Both rifles seem to change poi since it has got colder outside. When I figure something out I will post again.Mabe some of you more seasoned pcp men can enlighten me before I go through several thousand rds more.Oh yea that is the fun of it!

Brocock/BRK  Need Help! I think my regulator is not working

To start I am very new to air guns as this is my first one so I don't know to much about them. I bought a brocock sniper xr. When I first received it I cleaned everything and set up to test it out. After firing a few shots and testing the fps I noticed pretty wild deviations. On low power they would spread out anywhere from 503 to 462 Jumping as far as 30 fps between shots. Then I noticed the regulator After sitting for about 10 min would climb all the way up to 152 bar. After shooting about 4 shots it would be down to about 125 and start acting more like I would expect. It would drop 10ish bar right after being fired and have a very quick return to 125. Even at this point I would still easily get 10 fps difference from shot to shot. My dad bought the exact same gun and was within 2 fps every shot so I assume all the testing equipment was working fine. After setting it down again for the night the regulator was reading 152 bar in the morning. Are there any simple checks I can do before sending it back for warranty? Please keep in mind I am very new to this so nothing can be stated to simply. Thanks for the advice.

Other  Really Liking this grip.

Most rubber grips feel good in my hand but are way too skinny.. Like the FX, Hogue etc. I had a zero degree Ergo and although I love how thick it is, the angle is a little too vertical for me. I wish they would make it in 15 degrees.
I picked up a MDT Elite overmold to try, and it's thick as well as giving an angle closer to 15 degrees. I really like it and will probably get another.

N/A  R.M.A.C 2023 100 yard benchrest results? Rifle brand, model and caliber??

Im very interested in examining the results from the 2023 RMAC 100 yard benchrest.
Im mainly interested in the rifle brand, model, and caliber that was used, by each of the 18 and 20 pro finalists.

The 2021, and 2022 results that I have found online, include the make/model/caliber information.
However, the 2023 results do not.

Does anone have this information available?
Thanks in advance.

Another coyote bites the dust

I got another one out back right now. The cold weather is making them hungry.

Same as usual. about 70 foot lbs energy with 25 cal FX Impact M3 at about 25 yards distance. I make sure to always shoot from a prone position since it is more difficult for them to spot me in this bright moonlight. Often they don't even know what I am and look at me in curiosity. That is when they notice me there if I make too much noise (which isn't much more than a mouse fart)

Anyone able to help a new guy here?

Merry Christmas eve everyone, totally new here and came across the site by searching for classifieds. I was trying to get in touch with a member on here GT350 who has an Aea listed for sale. I quickly found out that to respond to a listing I need 10 posts and minimum of 10 days on here. If it isn't against any of the forum rules, is there anyone that would be willing to reachout to him and let him know I am very interested in purchasing it? If that breaks any forum rules than obviously I understand it can't be done but I thought I'd give a shot at asking. Thanks for reading and I'm glad to have found this site. Happy holidays everyone

Noob questions regarding Tuxing gold moisture filter

Amazon just delivered my Tuxing moisture filter, and maybe these questions are in the “if you hafta ask” department, but since there are zero instructions included, here I go.

I got the “molecular sieve” version. How does one know when the little pellets have reached their limit and are saturated? It came with some small bottles of replacement pellets.

There are small round cotton (?) discs. They go….? If only it came with instructions….

Also, I’m assuming the flow from my compressor is to connect the male plug end to the female from the pump, and attach the hose with a female end to the gun.

Thanks in advance for helping the noob. I just wanna feed my rifle clean dry air, and this seemed like a good way to go about it.

Curt
