Other  Feeding a yong heng compressor off a compressor?

Question, has anyone tried feeding the intake on a yong heng off shop air? I have a pretty good drying filtration system on my 220v shop compressor for painting applications, and I wonder if feeding it with 100-140 psi air would speed fills and/or aid air drying. Pre-Chinese compressor…or maybe the extra density would just cause problems with the design… just curious if this has already been done.

New to the forum and just getting back into airguns. I got a few guns and am looking to rehome one or two to get myself back into the hobby. Any advice/info on anything I should know being new to the forum would be great.

N/A  Looking to get into PCP

Hey all,
Looking to upgrade out of my pump guns to something more substantial to dispatch the waves of hellacious starlings infesting my structures.

Happened upon the JTS AiracudaMax and feel like it's probably the best I can get for the money. My original budget was somewhere around $700 and I really liked the thought of the BSA R10 but they seem to be impossible to get in the states.

Am I on the money thinking of this JTS rifle?

Re-"design" a new Field Target game

Inspired by @cavedweller 's post about designing a perfect FT facility, I posted about things I'd redesign about Field Target, that would need facility type changes. Sorry for the long post.

Let me first say, I shoot Hunter Field Target here in the USA, at multiple clubs in the southeast PA area. I do very much enjoy the game, even though I'm not very good. As long as we're having a fun day at the range, I don't care if I ever break a 20 score. Any 'complaints' that I have aren't for lack of fun, or to make it easy so I can win *I wont*, but to improve fun and get more people interested (ie: my 11 y/o). I also fully understand that there's no real money in airguns for clubs. Buying targets, maintenance, etc make it financially difficult to start a new FT style program and or upgrade things on my wish list, so not all of my ideas are realistic, at least not until the level of participation/match fees adequately cover a lot of ideas - this is a dream that maybe serves as inspiration. So, here we go...

1. FPE Limit Changes: Looking at most online shops (krale, pyramyd, etc) - there's just about 50% more .22 rifles available than .177. I see a gap between lower tier .177 and high tier (ie: a gamo vs weihrauch/daystate) shows a fair amount of middle ground missing that I think is covered by more options in .22. Anecdotally (reddit, forum threads) - I see way more people buying their first airgun in .22, at a power level beyond the 20 FPE limit. I get that this is a MAJOR cost issue for clubs. But, if people could come with a reasonable avenger in the ~34 FPE range without getting turned away, growing the sport could pay for it long term.

2. Classes/targets based more on ability: There's the people who do this for GPs and Nationals, who are truly the best 3-5 people at a match, and the rest of us one/two a month weekend warriors. They want/need to be challenged at a level that is different from us, but we could use the encouragement boost of taking down more targets. Maybe something like an additional target per lane (per 2 lanes, whatever) that are easier shots only taken by people in an amateur/junior class. Again, added targets are added cost, and added work. But, you will encourage a new shooter to come back after getting a satisfying number of KZ hits. As for sandbaggers, most small monthly matches have no real prizes anyway, so it doesn't matter.

3. The "hunting sim" argument: I see it both ways. But it could make things more interesting to have more shots/lanes that are more sim. A "barn wall" where you shoot a rat through a gap in the wall boards. A fence rail supported positional lane where you're neither offhand nor buckets or bumbags. (ie: NRL22 props) It doesnt have to be every lane, but some new and interesting variety would improve the game for me. Nothing needs to be some timed multi-position lane where you're flopping around and moving barrels.

4. Tying in with #2 above, the KYL style lane(s): 5 targets of varying difficulty - pick 2. Easy troyer targets get .9 points, mid 1-1.1, hard 1.3+. Choose your own difficulty level for your own score.

These are just my goofy ideas. Feel free to add your own or improve on an existing one. This is a 'for fun' style post, so let fun ideas fly.

Karma  Red Panda, so far didn’t see great groups in YouTube videos!!!

Based on the hype of Red Panda a lot of airgunners were waiting for it to come to the market.

Now when it is being sold, I have seen almost all YouTube videos of Red Panda but did not find any extra ordinary groups at 100 yards.

There are many other brands including FX which do same or even better than what has been shared on YouTube as far as accuracy is concerned. Specially in 30 caliber.

Either the users didn't tune it properly or it needs more time to break in.

Don't know.

JTS  JTS BRAWN @ $499 (the New King of Affordable Bullpups?) Video Review

20240520_095142.jpg

This new JTS Brawn bullpup PCP rifle is very impressive. It's tuned to shoot 15.9gr and 18.1gr perfectly. This video will give you an up close look as well as test the accuracy to find the best pellets for the Brawn. This new JTS Brawn is accurate and smooth! It shoots like a $1500 gun in my opinion. Thanks for watching! -Nate

FX  FX Dynamic cant shoot proper groups (.25 700)

Hi,

Before 2 months i had a problem with my dynamic it was shooting kind a 3 shot group 2-3 MOA group on 100m but some shots was flying to right side by even 70cm. Nothing was loose or something i was not able to find the root of issue (speed consistency was good).
Now i fitted to the rifle a Huma regulator which works perfectly and a Huma heavy hammer weight. The heavier one ... 14.x gram.
Yesterday i assembled it and tried with 41 grain ZAN slugs all settings between 140 and 155 bar and 275 and 310 m/s.
Had a settings where i had 304.6 m/s 6 times in a row so consistency can be considered to good i think.
On 90 meters i was shooting to a wall and always happened that sometimes i had two shots extremly close almost one hole and another shot went totally elsewhere. I dont even consider the overall acuracy to be a "group" but the rifles "group" was around 30-40 cm on 90m. In nutshell terrible.
Do you had someone similar issue? Or maybe some idea what could cause it?
Note: The silencer is absolutly OK no movement inside or close pass to walls.

Brocock/BRK  New Ghost Day

👻 Just received my Ghost .30 from the classifieds. Got to shoot it in the backyard at 35yds while sighting the Helix scope in. All the positive hype is real! Reg is at 150b and the wheel was at 18. The STO Falx High Flow really works well on this gun. I am surprised how effective it is at this higher power setting! Totally backyard friendly. JSB 44.75 Diabolos resulted in 956fps and 90 ft/lb. I also played with the minimum wheel setting and got 734fps with a whisper when shooting. Currently set at 9 on the wheel with 890fps. The target pic is of the first eight shots I fired with this rifle and scope and some bent pellets so not too bad for my amateur butt and a further testament to how solid of a platform this BRK is!

Cleaning Tips: What is your process for ideal accuracy?

Cleaning Tips

If you are new to air rifles, it's important to note that they don't have residues caused by burning powder like rifles do. That means the barrels don't foul up or require cleaning nearly as often as regular rifles. It is not necessary to clean your airgun barrel every time they are put away after use, unless they are used in the rain or in very humid environments.

How often you should clean your air rifle barrel depends on the type of gun, how often you use it, and the type of pellets or slug that you use.
Unless your dealer cleans the barrel before shipping, you should clean your new barrel before shooting the first time. This is due to the coating that is applied at the factory that protects it in freight, but detracts from accuracy once in use.

After use, a slug setup could benefit from cleaning at least every tin and a pellet setup could benefit from cleaning every tin or tin and a half.
If you want to run something through the barrel, use a good quality bore-cleaning rope like the Patchworm Field Kit and some cleaning solution like Ballistol.
Clean and lubricate the external metal parts to avoid corrosion.

Most airgun dealers recommend that a well-used air rifle be serviced once a year, while a less-used air rifle may only need servicing once every two years. With significantly more parts than a standard rifle, airgun rifles have a lot of o-rings and seals that will eventually fail and require replacement.

When someone purchases a rifle from NorthEast Airguns, we check it for proper operation and that the magazine feeds properly. There are two additional tests that are performed before a gun leaves our store. We perform a 24 hour leak test and verify velocity with a chronograph. Included with the chronograph test results is a tech signed 10 shot string with all the velocities for each shot, the type, and the weight of ammo used for testing. This will assist the purchaser in finding the type of ammo with the best accuracy for the barrel they are shooting with.

We love hearing from you.

Is my half done S&W 78g an abomination, or the NES light gun that the world needs?

Hello you fellow top tier airheads, ya danged ol functioning ballistaholics, as it were. Im Boone Jug from the holler, yes that holler. Story time- I mauled my 78g with my haggard fangs alone in my lil ol grodge late at night with TEMU tools, no adult supervision, all while pounding cases of jolt cola and blaring Ace Of Base. Now that yall know I aint whilstin dixie, ill get right to it. My latest build has folks divided, some say its heresy, some say I ruined me a classic pistola three weeks dungeon! While the other camp thinks she a nintendo light gun lookin exotic debutant, that mollywops steel critters in unlimited standing pistol silhouette and field target. Her name is Dizzy, from Starship Troopers if you know, you know. I sniped her off Ebay for 50ish American doll hairs. Her soft parts were plum blowed out the frame, no grips or piercing cap, she was flicted by the orange gremlins what eats metal, science says it aint that but MAMA says theys wicky voodoo. Back when MAC1 had the interwebs store before the big bike wreck laid ol tim down, I ordered a whole mess of valves and lil bits n bobbits. I cured her of her innard ailments and wuz smittened by her sturdy build and she got a telemetry on that trigger musta come straight oughta NASA, put me a good hone and shine on them bang switch units. Thats when my superpower flipped on, i gots the ADHD, OCD and the look at me. The Marine Corps dun shuffled my deck a lil bit more but we still got her pined full throttle missin on 3 cylinders and rich on the other five, can i get an amen? I digress, this aint about me. Its about my girl Dizzy. I milled out the rear sight lug and guides, pinned me a loose optics plate to the receiver for a spare zero elite. Fanged a pic rails ass off to mount a light, pinned with brass rivets I wopped up just right with tender mallet strokes while I held her hand, shes so brave. Hit the seam with e6000 and again with JB. I got choked walther barrel stock I gantry fanged it to stock specs just left 2mm more rifling in the chamber for bentz style engagement, then decided to yeet an extra 1mm into the port, got the bolt reshaped and shiny. Turned down a new transfer port to match, punched the valve port 1mm made it shine. Popped the valve out and set to rotary burr fangin material out, I reckon i got .7-.9 worth of her guts trimmed out tapering in the direction of her gassy colon as it were. I then set to using clay polishing compounds and units i made called alien fingers to mush my shine gunk around when i port and polish automotive unitry. I got a mess of springs I tuned with yesternight had to negotiate with my terrorist chrony thinks hes wore out, but aint allowed to die right now. I want to run c02 with the hammer spring tension back all the way off diabolo 14.3g at 500fps and tension maxed on HPA regulated at 1000psi 16g diabolo at 600+fps and im going to test hybrid slugs maybe even cut another barrel 14-16 inches. I do epoxy stuff so i got after the handles with that mess too, aint done by a long shot on them, epoxy layering with airbrush to build depth and then ill build out my mold and pour a healthy margin so I can make me a palm swell shaped like JLO, lil bity shelf with imbedded hardware to bolt a 360 fatboi shelf. Cerakote is burnt bronze and stoplight red. Im a professional mixed media artist too, some of my old portfolio is here https://www.instagram.com/boone.jug.art/ I cant trust Eddie, Eddie is the name of my chrony pray for him. But I think I have a couple viable spring combos to hit my velocity and have the broad range on the same spring set with multi fuel as I had conjured up in my lizard brain. I need to dump my efilm from my eCamera for all the build pics, but here is one yall can pass judgement on. I got a wall plum full of wackadoo builds like this one hangin around watchin me type a book about Dizzy the jealousy is palpable. I aint been real keen on the ol interwebs but folks is always sayin off the wall stuff like "You oughta start a youtubes" or "get you a facebook" or "What do you mean you aint got no cell phone Boone Jug?!?!?! What if somethin happens!?!?!" My kids convinced me theres a whole mess of connectivity I've been missin just might be worth havin with some of yall that aint from the holler. Cheers to anyone who read that whole book and could make any sense of my Shakespearian prose. Ill get my data sorted for my ballistaholics and post spring combo specs when i get em dialed. I have 7 other off the wall builds if this one peaks yalls interest ill write a book about them ladies as well. Have a glory filled, meritorious day. (YATYAS)

HW/Weihrauch  Matching caliber to rifle, Weihrauch style...

Hi all

Since my first exposure to the HW30, HW50 and HW95 trio, I've had an almost subliminal assumption that the most effective pairings of rifle & caliber would be: HW30/.177, HW55/.20 and HW95/.22 (not that I've adhered to that myself - 😁)

But without at least having the use of all 9 combinations, all I really have is an educated guess, right?

So let's see who agrees with my premise, or who can change my mind.... 👍

PCP Rifle  NLA Semi Custom Gamo Coyote 22 Cal 50+ Shots Wicked Accurate Turn Key Package

WTS or WTT located in the East Bay Area Cali

I like to tinker more than shoot sometimes so here is a finished rifle ready to go. Great first pcp or paper puncher or even pest control. Would like to sell but will entertain trades, seems like I always need one more good scope lol.

Modifications are as follows:
-Shorter Gamo Urban barrel installed for a more compact package. Still free floating although looks like the mod is touching, its not!
-Barrel port has been hand aligned to match the transfer port for better air flow. Most of these are partially blocked from the factory.
-Transfer port has been opened up to port match with the valve output and barrel inlet port for max airflow.
-Long Barrel Band Screw mod has been relocated to the trigger with a little RTV to secure the adjustment. Trigger is pretty good and still safe for hunting etc.
-Air Venturi Aluminum Picatinny Rail installed on the forend of the stock for bipod mounting or a light etc. (Bipod not included)
-Gets an easy 50-55 shots under the wonderful power curve; ~3050psi-1500psi. Extreme spread of ~15psi which is amazing for a non-reg pcp.
-Shoots JSB Hades 15.89g pellets at ~795fps average into little bitty holes. This setup has taken lots and lots and lots of pests, and is very easy to hand pump if you dont want to spend the money on a compressor.

Other  Your recommendations for best "box store" springers....

Just wondering if there are any models that stand out to the "cognisenti" here. I mean, there have to be a FEW, right? Stuff that people were pleasantly surprised by, especially over time.

I started wondering after I bought a 2nd hand Ruger Blackhawk Elite in .177. I didn't pay a lot because I didn't expect to get a lot. In fact, I figured it might make a good guinea pig for tuning.

It has a modern-style black thumbhole stock with lots of "cool" edges molded into it, turned me right off. I like old, wood & steel. And form that follows function.
But it is comfortable to use (!) and to my surprise, cocks, cycles and shoots very well (!). On top of that, it has a good trigger (!).
Everything fits neatly together, blueing is fine, etc. and there is no need for tuning. Well, well... 😁

So next I bought a Stoeger X20S with the same thought, and that has turned out to be a very good shooting rifle also. Two for two as it were....

So I'm wondering if it's time to show a little respect to the box store stuff....

Slug accuracy thoughts

My friend Steve and I are slug testing an Epic 2 in 25 cal. Comparing both the LW poly and CZ barrels. We finally bit the bullet literally and started shooting at a firearm range. Problem is wind. Yeah I know, “it’s part of the game”. Problem is this facility has very high berms and what little wind is magnified and swirling by the targets. We’re attempting accuracy testing for slug diameter and weight. We get consistent 1/2 MOA at 50 yards with the best projectiles. And a widening with others. At 100. If wind is calm, 1 MOA at 100 yards, but with wind upwards of 3” groups. I confirmed it with my taipan vet with a proven slug and drilled a 7/8” group of 5 at 100, when calm, but opened up to 2 1/2” with 5 mph winds swirling. Question is, do we just go with the 50 yard groups?

Brocock/BRK  Some Ghostly Groups…👻

Please keep in mind that I’ve only had it two days… Sent these groups after a long, hard workday. As a bonus 🙄 when I went out to change the 40 yard target. I noticed a mess behind my barn which I had to clean up… A racoon had gotten into one of my cans…👿💥 The Atomic with Zulus is primed and ready for tonight and the ding donger will alert me. Back to the Ghost 👻, all groups covered by a dime, excepting the one flyer at 40 yards with the Jumbo Monsters, I pulled that shot…🤓 The Ghost is truly an impressive PCP, am looking forward to getting better acquainted with it…
