N/A  Semi-Auto Recommendations

Hi all. I'm looking for recommendations for a .22 semi-auto PCP. I've browsed through the forums and found a few that stand out, specifically the GK1 and AEA SF. I'm hoping to keep the cost below $1300 and would like a carbine-length rifle. The GK1 stands out since I can convert it to a carbine, but, unfortunately can't find an inexpensive conversion option. Thoughts?

Diana  Out with the old

So I just sent back my brand new broken HW80, and to make myself feel better I purchased a Diana 48 .22.

Seeing as I have a TX200 and a HW77 the 48 seems like the perfect addition, plus it has open sights. The open sites is the reason I originally bought the 77 however my face is too fat for the comb of the stock. None the less I’m sure I’ll be given Hawke or Athlon some business in about a month. Something that I think is awesome about the 48 and its side lever is being able to attach a sling to the barrel. Anyway any of you fine people have Diana 48 story’s?

Pellet weight inconsistencies

So I really have too much time on my hands. I wanted to adjust my FPS spread on my Thomas HPX so I thought maybe weighing pellets and test the speeds with pellets within 8/100th of grain. I've got a decent scale, the A n D SHS, and started weighing FX med and deep skirts, Rangemaster shallow and medium skirts and JTS shallow skirts. I haven't pulled out the JSB's yet but to be honest the FX and Rangemasters are essentially JSBs. I weighed .22cal 25.39's. The JTS were the only pellets that weighed most consistently between 25.30 and 25.42. The others weighed as low as 24.90 to 25.94. I don't know how much those disparities actually affect a 50 yd or 100 yd shot. I've shot good scores right out of the tin but it seems, unless I'm overthinking it, that POI could change slightly based on the weight fluctuations. Love your feedback.

RTI  Which will break out in 2024?

The prefix for the post wanted one, but I have no preference. Now which new gun do you feel will break out this coming year. Yes, FX has theirs but wanted to key in on these 4.
1 - Skout Evo
2 - Epic 1
3 - RTI Mora
4 - Karma red panda

Personally, I feel all four will make waves in the coming year. Your thoughts?

I received an e-mail this morning saying the DRS is in stock and to shop now! Well, by time I clicked the link in the e-mail all the had left was .22 on 600mm and 500mm barrels and it said the 600mm barrel length was low inventory! Nothin in .177 or .25! Guess I wasn't fast enough on the ole mouse clicker!

GX CS4 Lube Information Update

Many of you may know that Bill Ruehl from Target Forge recently visited the GX air compressor factory in Nantong China. Here is the latest information he brought back regarding lubing the GX CS4 hpa compressor:
The manufacturer says to be very stingy with the grease. The advice to do it every 4 hrs will result is way too much grease in the system. My current recommendation is once at 6 hours, again at 16, then every 16 hours unless you hear it slowing down then give it a shot."

These things are challenging

I get a couple moles a year. They are tough because you have to time them. This guy was in my woodpile at 40 yards. No reflective eyes to catch your attention. Just a little black thing slithering in and out of logs. I noticed it was setting a pattern and would hesitate before it would either fall or jump down to the ground. I waited until my NV was about to make me go blind. I was focused on his diving board as I saw him slithering in and out of logs headed for his launch spot. When it got there I squeezed and heard a substantial pop. Nailed it with a .25 30gr H&N slug.

I was going to start a topic about H&N slugs because I never used them for hunting. I know they shoot well out of this gun but I don’t know how they perform on animals. I always thought H&N pellets were a little on the hard side so I was curious about the slugs and if they expand on animals. This kill gives me no data other than they are accurate. If anyone has used H&N slugs, please chime in.

FX  FX Impact M3 Compact Tuning Pellets

Hello all first post random question…

I have an Impact M3 compact and I shoot pellets only in .177 and .30 in 500mm with superior stx barrels.

I have first regulator at 155 factory and my second at 110 which I have heard is basically as high as you want to go with the stock hammer. This is my starting point for .30.

Here is the question. I shoot a lot from in my house out to about 25 yards in .177 in my backyard from my kitchen table and have been keeping my second regulator set at 110. I then close the valve to somewhat above the velocity I want for the pellet I’m shooting and then lower hammer tension to dial in the speed. I understand this is prob very lazy however I can literally pound a nail in a board from 25 yards. I am wondering what the disadvantage is to tuning the gun this way?

DonnyFl SkinnyBoy 1.0

Anybody ever think about doing this?? I just bought a .177 dreampup off of this website and this thing is loud pushing jsb 10.34s at 840fps.. (best speed I ended up with for accuracy) so I threw a tanto on it.. still kinda loud-ish being that I only have moderators for .25 guns.. so i decided to experiment with the tanto being ita kinda rough looking anyway.. I measured the exit hole to be a little over 8mm.. way too big for the little 4.5mm pellet... So i grabbed a 5/16 drill bit and it fit perfectly in the exit hole which meant I could use a 3/8-16 tap and it will fit perfectly... So I threaded it and made an insert with a 7/32 hole (closest to 5.5mm I had) and 3/8 threads to screw into the moderator.. screwed it all together and it works perfectly... Cut the noise waaaay down.. the whole moderator has the same size hole through it so I'm wondering how much more quieter I would be able to get it if i could size all the holes down .🤔🤔🤔 They don't have enough meat for introducing threads into them.. For now I'm happy because I don't have to buy another moderator.. there was absolutely no clipping and the poi didn't change... One hole accurate at my usual 25 yard sparrow spot... Very pleased.. so if you ever wondered, yes you can repurpose those .25/.30 cal Donnys 😁😁😁

Portable Shooting Bench

I have shot from many platforms over the decades blasting away with mostly Firearms. At the range, mostly very solid Concrete Benches and Benches made of Steel, however I do not like the Steel they can become resonate and vibrate too much. I have shot over Pickup Hoods, Branches, Logs you name it. I built a semi-portable shooting bench many moons ago, its seen better days. I have been shooting Pump Pellet Rifles for sometime but, never really needed a portable rest until I got into the PCP arena and wanted precise results.

So, wanting to replace the old relic that had seen-better-days, I decided to build a Portable Shooting Bench. One that was solid, stable and did not require a Hand-Truck to move it from the Pickup to the shooting location. I wanted folding legs and a bench that was large enough to clutter it's top. This specimen is a bit on the husky side but, that is ok because it is very solid and stable.

I had some flat lumber lying around the garage and found a Portable Sawhorse Online with adjustable legs and that folded up into a neat package. I still have some final work, like trim, an oval hole-handle for carrying and some stain for the wood. I took it out the other day to try it out and do a little Photo-Shoot. I was just what I needed.

Oh! The Charging-Tank... does not remain there, only for the photo-effect.

If your interested in the Design and Construction Details, you can contact me.

Enjoy,

Don

N/A  Guess what inexpensive pumper is super great.

I received a inexpensive .177 pump rifle mostly plastic and cost way under a hundred dollars. Here is the positives after spending over 2 hours enjoying the shooting experience.

As received I didn't have to make a sight adjustment for 10 to 12 yards shooting. A real surprise fur sure. The trigger is much better than some higher dollar pumpers, and is really has wonder open sight for my 84 year eyes. Super easy to pump and three to four pumps is just find for 10 to 12 yards targets. The real fun factor for such an low cost gun is super high. In fact I've cant think of a pumper that performed the well out of the box. Another clue is that I ordered the gun from a company not 15 miles from my location. Guess just for fun. Charles
