Other  Looking for a F-Class type Bi-Pod for PCP

I've been looking for a super stable ARCA Rail type bi-pod for my bench rest Epoch PCP.
The F-class bi-pods appear to give unmatched stability. However 19" wide seems like a bit of overkill.
Just wondering and have been searching for a low profile type F-Class that is only about 15" wide.
Currently using a tripod up front also have an Atlas CAL rated for 50BGM rifles.
The down side of a tripod in my opinion, is that after it is locked down and major elevation changes are required you need to remember to loosen up the stops and get it settled in for that change. Where as with a Bi-pod that is not the case.
Please post if you know of something that I have missed.
Thanks

Hello from Maine - newbie question(s)

Hello all-
Just joined the forum today as I'm starting to find myself wanting to tap back into my childhood and the joy of shooting bb-guns was. I'm looking for a bit of guidance/direction to go for my first big-kid's pellet gun. I was looking to get an FX-boss, but it appears that has been discontinued or at least stopped being sold in the US? Not sure if that is too much rifle for a first timer? I read some of the posts here for newbies, and starting off with a lower end rifle to see if you (I) would enjoy it, but I also tend to live under the "buy once, cry once" mentality (to a limit, given this is my first go as an adult, I'm not looking to drop $3k-$5 for gun and other items).

I would only be using this for target shooting in the backyard and could easily setup targets at 25, 50, 100 (or even further) yards. My neighbors have said they don't care if I'm shooting out back, but I do want something that is as quiet as possible, as I am one that gets annoyed with other folks making abnormal loud noises, so I'd like to respect that.

I see there are a couple FX Crown's in the classifieds, which kind of speak to me, 1 -they're a little lighter on the wallet than new, 2 - they seem to be spec'd with scopes - iron sights are a bit too clumsy for me these days, and 3 - I'm sure buying off a site like this, they'd be coming from folks who actually took care of, and enjoyed them, just looking to give them another life.

I know I need to buy a different air compressor, so I've ordered a Yong Heng with auto-shut off, and still need to pick up the oil/water separator filter, would I also need to get a bottle, if I'm always shooting from the house? I see lots of folks state they fill a tank, then then gun, but I'm guessing it's okay to simply fill the gun?

Thanks in advance for any/all advice.
-greg

HW97 groups

Shot a couple groups yesterday with my HW97k, It was blowing pretty good down here in the sunshine state so I limited it to 25yards. top group was H&N FTTrophy's 8.64gr and the bottom group was AirArms10.3gr. Both were 5 shots. I know a lot of you can get them much tighter, but I am happy with minute of squirrel.

PCP Rifle  NLA Panthera .25/.30

I have a panthera I’m thinking about letting go. It is a .25 cal, 700mm slug liner, shooting nsa 55.5gr slugs great, had it up to 128 fpe. Has a 580cc front bottle, buttstock adaptor, magpul PRs light buttstock. Does not have a shroud because it started out as a 600mm .22 and the shroud was too short for the 700mm, no longer have those parts. Had DonnyFL make me an adaptor to screw onto the end of the plenum where the shroud use to mount. It shoots 1/2 inch or less groups at 100 yards with the nsa 55.5gr slugs. Will also come with a 500mm .30 cal barrel kit with mag and probe. Also comes with the factory buttstock and forward rail but no 300cc bottle. Also have a few boxes of the nsa 55.5gr slugs too. Does have some nicks and scratches from use. $1900 shipped to the lower 48.

I moved my mid size lathe to where this mini was. So I figured I would put it on here before I just tuck it away in a corner. I’m not shipping it so you would have to be semi close to me so we could meet and exchange. It has a quick change tool post and a bunch of tool holders. A 3 jaw and 4 jaw chuck. Change gears and probably some extra stuff. It works just fine. $200

PCP Pistol  NLA Huben GK1 Shorty .25 & Huben GK1 Mini-Carbine .25

******** Mini-Carbine is SOLD *********

Unfortunately I can no longer have this money tied up in this 2 wonderful PCPs.

I only shot JSB MK II and EunJin 43gr out of this 2 and never, ever had a single issue.

I will have to revert to the old Yellow system in a way and maintain a chronological order with the responses and the sale of the guns.

I have no electronic payments so it's either a USPS money order, a bank cashier check or if you prefer and feel more secure a personal check.

There's still all the spare parts for the guns, manuals, cases.

SAM_0093.JPG
SAM_0092.JPG

1st up is the Shorty, this is a custom built to my specs that Kelly did for me so it's a one of a kind and if you look at pictures of other Shorties you will see immediately the difference.

You can either have the re-shaped and truckbed liner sprayed grip or the original grip for this gun,.....but I can tell you the re-shaped grip is significantly more comfortable.........course depends what grip get claimed on the first sale then the other one will have the one left.

I'll take 1.650 bucks shipped for this beauty

SAM_0084.JPG
SAM_0085.JPG

The Mini-Carbine is already set up with the Buck-Rail kit and a 34 mm clamp.

Again it can come with the original grip or my re-shaped one,.....course all depends who claims what first then the second sale will take the one left.

I take 1.350 bucks shipped ..........no scope but if want we can talk about it.

Please, because I expect a fai ammount of traffic I might be slow to reply and also I'm at work so I need to pretend to do some work :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

so again please don't get pissed if no immediate answer, one way or an other I will try answer everyone as fast as I can.

Thanks

Other  First PCP help

I am new here, I have been reading a lot of posts on here and have been led to this question from them. I am a lifelong avid hunter. I have recently started hunting more small game to fill in between seasons and because it is something I have grown to really enjoy. I started with a 22lr but didn't like shooting at squirrels in trees with a rifle that had the potential to fly long distances. I switched to a 410 shot gun and had good luck but got frustrated wasting what precious meat a squirrel had to all the small pellets. I recently bought a gamo swarm magnum gen3i and have had loads of fun shooting it and I am excited to try it out this next fall to hunt some more small game with. I have been very impressed by the accuracy of this rifle from 10-40 yards very accurate in .22 cal. Now I am hooked and started reading about PCPs and planning to get my toes wet and try one out. From all my reading on here I have been led to believe that the gamo urban or the umarex notos would be great guns for closer range small game hunting. I generally get 50-60 yards or less as I am used to shot gun hunting. I am looking to get into PCP and the biggest things to me are I want something very reliable as I hunt and hike 5-10 miles sometimes when small game hunting. I generally am not making more than 5-10 shots so these small pcp's seem perfect getting around 20ish shots on a tank fill. I also want what would be most accurate in the 60-50 yard or less range. I am also interested in what is the quietest one to help prevent spooking game should I miss. I plan to get whatever option in .22 cal as that seems like the best small game load. I also like these smaller pcps as from reading they are not too much of a hassle to fill with a hand pump before I go and dive headfirst spending 1000s in the hobby incase I don't use it as much as I think. I like the looks of the notos more and the fact it seems small and light for carrying when hiking I am just wondering if the gamo urban is better at that higher end of range in that 50-60yard max for squirrel and rabbit as that is all it would be used on or is the notos just as good. What about reliability are both equally as reliable?

Thank you guys

Accessories  SOLD Taipan Veteran / Mutant High Power Valve System (Very Efficient, Indestructible PEEK + Titanium + 485 Brass)

I have (2) complete sets of hand-built, hand tuned vales that are designed to exceed the performance and durability of the factory Taipan valves. I've stress tested all of my valves at 250bar with a a very heavy (sledgehammer) hammer system, and they're virtually indestructible unlike the factory valves. They're designed slightly different from one another, but the perform identically.

The pins on these are made from grade 5 / 6AL-4V titanium with (Ketron) PEEK sealing poppets. The poppets are leaps and bounds stronger than the weak factory nylon poppets. They are machined to a precision tolerance and shaped by hand for optimal airflow efficiency. The valve bodies are crafted from an industrial 485 marine brass, so they aren't prone to micro scratching like the butter soft brass that the factory valves are made from.

These also include a PEEK valve spring pre-tensioning seat that are designed for the factory valve springs.

Terms:
  • $175 shipped CONUS only. Zelle (preferred) or discrete PayPal with fees. Once they're gone, they're gone.
I'll be posting some additional Taipan parts soon, but feel free to message me if you're looking for something specific.

the New AEA Center Punch Pellets (All Calibers & Weights) Video

Hey guys, here is a look at all the new AEA Center Punch pellet calibers and weights offered by AEA. This video also shows the JSB compared to the AEA up close to see why the AEA fly better. The AEA Center Punch pellets are manufactured by JSB for AEA. They are more accurate than JSB, FX, or JTS pellets in all the guns I have tried them in so far. Get some! Thanks for watching! -Nate

Need a Gun for Iguana Pests

Looking for purchase advice.
This is strictly about nuisance iguanas in my yard. And it’s not many, at that.
It’s a small yard in a neighborhood development.
Distance to targets is probably 15-20 feet.
What I really want is a pistol that can shoot pointed pellets, and is strong enough to do the job.
I think a rifle might be overkill for my situation, but I’m open to ideas.
I also don’t want to spend too much, as I’m not making a career out of it. I’d like to keep it under $200.

Is this a fantasy, or is it possible?

PCP Rifle  SOLD Evanix AR6k .22 cal price drop again

Selling another favorite of mine… This is comes with the scope, fill probe, two mags and 4 tins of Seneca pellets; 3 of them are full and one is about half full. The rifle works perfectly and aside from a small blemish on the stock seen in the picture, the stock is excellent. It’s a “mechanical semi-auto” or you can cock the rifle with your thumb on the hammer without having to reposition. Really fun either way. I’m including a weirauch moderator also that makes it mouse fart quiet. I have a picture of the entire gun somewhere on this forum I just can’t find it now. Looking at $400 plus shipping with everything lower 48. Not looking for trades at this time. Any questions, let me know!

Umarex  Notos Pellet Jam (update May 16th, 2024)

From Google searches it seems like some people have had this issue. You load a magazine push the lever forward and the pellet get’s sandwiched/smashed causing you grief in trying to remove the mag.

I received my Notos April 27th 2024 about 8pm. I own many pcp rifles. Not sure why I bought the Notos but once you get the bug you keep buying.

The next day, Sunday the 28th of 2024 I opened the box, cleaned the barrel, mounted the stock and mounted my scope. (UTG 3x9 Bug is a bugger to mount nicely)

While the pump was filling the air, I set up my targets. Close range set up. This is going to be a ground squirrel gun at short range. 20-30yrds max.

Guns full, targets set. I loaded the included mag and the 2 additional mags that I purchased from Pyramid with Crossmans. (500 pellets for under $10 w/Amazon next day for the amount I shoot? No brainer.) (Dedicated -(take time off hunts) I re-zero and use good ammo.)

Pull back the loading lever, pay close attention to the little slide notch and insert my first mag into the Notos. Push the lever forward and feel resistance. Pull it back a notch then move it forward and it feels weird. Won’t even close fully.

The next 15-20 minutes, are spent finding everything I need to carefully extract the mag from my new Notos. I get the mag out and find a sheared, mangled pellet. I inspect the mag and can’t find anything wrong. I insert it again. Push the lever forward and…feel resistance. I pull the lever back pull on the mag and it won’t come out again. Spend another 10-15 minutes carefully removing the mag.

At this point, All I can think of is that the mag is bad. I have 2 more brand new ones so lets try those. I tried both. They both jammed on the first try. OK. I know Crossmans are not that favorable of a pellet so I tried the JSB’s. Same deal. 20 minutes later I loaded up the H&N’s. Same Deal. So now I’m a bit furious. Wife‘s gone with the kids and my shooting time has just been limited severely.

I grab the single shot tray that came with the Notos. I load up a Crossman and…Boom. Loaded perfectly and shot well. Happy to finally shoot. I zeroed in my scope and was hitting dead on like what I’m use to.

Now what in the world is going on with these mags? I took the single shot tray and the mags down to my study to look them over. Here at home I don’t have good tools for precise measurements but with my eye I could see that the little metal stopper on the mags was just a tiny little schosch off from where the stopper was on the single shot try. This little metal stopper is actually a part of the housing for the mag. When you slide the mag into the breech, it sits approximately .5-.75mm too far to the right. (The pellet is not centered, it’s too the right)

I re-loaded all 3 brand new magazines with crossmans, (after tearing the mags apart to make sure all the tension settings were proper) I went back out to the range and slid a mag into the Notos. With my trigger finger, I reached up to the mag and ever so slightly applied pressure moving it to the left just a hair (.5-.75mm) while with my left hand sliding the bolt closed. And it closed like butter. I shot, than I repeated the procedure for a full clip. It worked.

I than used the 2 other mags in the same manor and did not have one jam.

So. After an entire Sunday morning in to late afternoon of frustration, The Notos does shoot very well.

I have sent an email to Pyramid. It’s definitely not their fault. Hopefully they can provide me with a new batch of Mags that work.

I guess the reason I wrote this is because I read other people having issues and there was no Resolve.

However, If I cannot get magazines that load properly without finger assistance, I do not want this Notos.

Sorry for the long post. It’s been a long day. Glad I figured out the cause of the problem. Hope Pyramid has a cure for it. Thanks

Update: It’s May 16th. When I first discovered this issue I reached out to Pyramid (where I purchased the Notos) They said, Reach out to UMAREX. I called UMAREX, explained my situation and they said send in your magazines. I sent them in. Meanwhile, I ordered Two 10 red mags from Maple Custom Products. Pyramid contacted me and gave me a refund for my 3 defective magazines. The Maple Magazines arrived a few days later and…I put about 5t00 rounds through my notos without a glitch. Now its May 16th and I get a package from UMAREX. 3 New Magazines, a packing slip and no note or explanation as to why my first 3 mags were duds. I load 4 rnds into the first mag, insert it in my Notos and JAM. I ask my 9yr old to run down to the gun room to grab me a 22LR cleaning kit so I can carefully extract this bent pellet. I remove the brand new UMAREX mag that just arrived, insert a fully loaded Maple Custom Proucts Mag and shot off 5 direct hit shots without a miss.

So. Pissed off, Bent, Frazzeled? The Notos, my Notos is a Tack driver. Stock Single Shot Tray or 10rnd Maple custom Products Magazine. It shoots well.

Maybe my gun has an issue? Really don’t think it does because of how well it shoots Single or with MCP Mags. I would like to also try Carma mags to see if it also works flawlessly with them.

Hard to believe my rifle is the only one out of thousands sold having issues with Factory Mags.

Anyways. Just wanted to keep you guys posted. P.S. I also just ordered 4 more High Capacity mags from Maple because they work.
