American Air Arms  EVOL 30 Shot Count

I recently got an EVOL 30 from the classified section here. I already have a EVOL 15. Per the AAA and AoA sites, the 30 should have roughly 30 shots per fill @ 4000psi. I fill the gun up to 4000 psi and I get about 12 shots. Do any EVOL 30 owner members have an extremely low shot count and if so what have you done to get the count up? I have done nothing but shoot the gun, which is a pleasure. Currently I am shooting the ZAN BR 100 56g pellets which the gun shoots extremely well. The pressure on the regulator is set at approximately 2100 psi. The gun does not leak air when it has been sitting that I have noticed at all. Thanks for the help.

HW/Weihrauch  Yep! It Happened Again,,,

Got up yesterday and made coffee, then looked at the classifieds on here and it happened again?? I just can't help myself! I found this sweet little 50s by a reputable member and before I knew it, me and Carter, you remember my faithful side kick,,, were on a 200 mile road trip to rescue this fine Weihrauch air rifle in 177. I just don't understand why this keeps happening.
100.JPG

101.JPG

It came with the lightweight 2x7x32 Hawke Vantage and a little one piece cantilever base ring and rings, with double locking pins. It is very light, and shoots pretty good. with three different pellets so far. Even Crow Magnums to my surprise. They don't shoot well in most of my guns, It came with the boxes and paper work for both the rifle and scope. and as setup is my lightest most compact outfit. It looks unfired, and even though a little twangy and louder than I like, I'll hold off before tuning it. But I can see down the road a Vortek HG4 kit is in order. Probably go with the lighter 12# instead of the HO kit on this smooth little ultra light!

Its a true delight to handle and carry around. Now I think I have everything I need,,,, but I aint going to say it.

Snowpeak  SPA P35X = Remington Spirit X

AAR on Air has a youtube out on the Remington Spirit X. In it he acknowledges that it is the Snowpeak P35X with Remington labeling. He did not seem to get a particularly accurate <12 fpe 177 but his comments in general are favorable. I've found a range of accuracy in my 3 P35s from good to excellent. His seems more at the good end. But I wonder if the new 65cc plenum is not overly large for a sub 12 177. The stock P35 plenum is under 15 ccs and seems to work fine on my 22 and 177. My 25 got a lot of velocity increase from a 35cc power plenum upgrade and I bet the Spirit X in 25 would be a powerhouse, at least for a P35. The hammer spring limits you to around 150 bar on the regulator but the P35X/Spirit X also has a longer barrel (over 500 mm versus 450 in the P35). I'm guessing 55-60 fpe in the 25 caliber. Should be capable of at least 35 fpe in the 22, possibly 40 fpe. My barrels are all choked and seem to shoot best with pellets but I have not extensively tested slugs. The P35X and Spirit X also come with a pretty nice looking wood stock. Weight it up over 6 lbs but still not terribly heavy for a PCP. Price doesn't seem to be a lot more than the P35.

Having a Remington option in this gun should also mean greater availability here in the U. S. where they are even better known than Stoeger.

HW/Weihrauch  New HW97K .177 Accuracy

I always wanted to try a HW97 in .177, after owning a TX200 in .22 the larger caliber springer isn't fast enough for my taste, I leave .22 and above for PCP's, that's just my personal experience. If you do buy a larger power springer with any kind of decent velocity it's too harsh to shoot and too much effort to cock. So back to the HW97 .177 I just purchased, mounted a Hawke 3-9 scope with two piece Sport Match mounts. Sighting in only took a couple of clicks to the left and elevation to my surprise was right on at 35 yards. So I started with several midweight pellets, gun really likes Crosman Premier 7.9g brown box, JSB Exact 7.87g and RWS Superdome 8.3g. Other pellets not bad but these three did the best. So next I chronied all three, the CP's were at 895, the JSB, 905 and the Superdomes 880 FPS. So, after shooting gun in I noticed groups opening up and checked stock screws, all were loose after less than 100 rounds, even trigger guard screws. So I snugged them up and accuracy returned, then again groups opened back up after 50 or so shots and screws loose again. So I did some research and read to use blue lock tight on screws but first harden the wood around stock screws with super glue, I used some Mercury Adhesive thin CA made in the USA of the highest quality, let dry, applied blue lock tight to screws, snugged everything back up and let sit overnight before shooting. So accuracy returned, screws remained tight and all looked good, then slowly after around 500 rounds groups opened back up but this time when I checked stock screws they were still tight. So I cleaned bore, wasn't bad at all, so I chronied gun again searching for the diminished accuracy and saw that the gun's velocity increased by 25 fps across the board. This thing is breaking in, now I have to either try some heavier ammo or tune the gun back a little.

Skout  Attention Skout Epoch Owners-

Hey, fellow Epoch enthusiasts. I’m reaching out to find out how many of you are interested in eliminating the inline bottle shut off valve in favor for an adapter much like what’s attached on the front of most FX platforms, so at any time the pressurized bottle can be removed safely without losing any of the air in the bottle. The great thing about these Skout Epoch platforms is the air bleed off knob on the side of the chassis, so the entire action can be drained down of all air once the bottle is removed.

I’ve been having back and forth emails with Marc at Huma to come up with this design, and possibly take it another step in where a first stage inline regulator can be designed for this gun much so like they did for the MK1 and MK2 Impacts, in where there are side “tongs” to hug the sides of the chassis giving the addition of a first stage reg a more aesthetic look.

For those of you not familiar with that mod, here’s the link. Probably the best mod overall that I’ve added to my pre M3 impacts, in helping its overall performance-

But that would be later down the line if Huma would consider taking that next step. For now it’s the bottle adapter I’m reaching out to all of you for mainly. Huma said if 30 or more folks would be interested in purchasing this adapter, they would move forward in its design and fabrication.
Here would be the pluses to having this adapter-

1. Pressurized bottle can safely be removed with very minimal loss of air
2. No more inline shut off valve that is prone to leaking surprisingly- not bagging on Skout for utilizing this inline valve, as it is recommended that the entire gun be drained of its air after use, but that tiny 003 o ring has twice failed on me, leaving me with all air emptied out of the bottle while shooting at home
3. It will shorten the length of the bottle to chassis connection, giving the Epoch platform an overall better look, aesthetically.

So, fellow Skout Epoch owners, if you are interested in this bottle to chassis adapter, please reply on this thread as I am forwarding this thread to Huma, to see if there is a want/need for this adapter. I’m guessing if Huma moves forward with this, they will sell both the bottle to chassis adapter along with an FX style 300 bar rated bottle valve in kit form, so two parts, maybe.

Thank you

What is the Purpose of Knurling on Slugs?

I’ve been trying to figure out if knurling reduces or helps a slug's velocity. So far I’ve read that knurling can reduced leading and it can hold lubricants better. I haven’t found much more on the topic. I’ve seen some .45 slugs that @nielsenammo makes that are knurled and I’m wondering why just that caliber and what’s the purpose? What are the other benefits of this feature of slugs for airguns?

PCP Rifle  SOLD Selling: Edgun Leshiy2 .25 250mm Huma Hornet carbon bottle Leshiy

So here it goes - I’m selling my Edgun Leshiy2 .25 cal 250mm

Something tells me this is one of those guns I’m going to regret selling, but I’ve just got to thin the herd…

If you’re reading this, you know what this is: the ULTIMATE backpack or truck pelletgun!

I’m the original and only owner of this Leshiy2. Purchased direct from Edgun West.

I’ve put about 4-5 tins of JSB pellets through it and it has never had an issue. Simply don’t shoot it enough!

Cycles great, holds air (will shipped degassed), and remains in excellent overall condition.

This is the 1st generation of the Edgun Leshiy2 (the regulator is internally adjustable). Arguably the most durable of all 3 versions thus far. I’ve done a few minor upgrades: Carbon 300cc bottle (also purchased from Edgun West), 2 additional magazines, new Micarta grip, Huma Mod50 “Hornet” moderator.

This Leshiy2 comes with 4 magazines total.

Original parts also included (see photo 3). Original air cylinder (used for about 200 shots), original moderator, original hand grip. Also included is the original fill probe, and shorter locking pin (does not work with carbon bottle installed). Plus a few extra bits (little rubber butt grips, a magnet to remove the mag covers, a picatinny adapter, 2 spare transfer port pucks and o-rings. The original neoprene sleeve is getting a bit fuzzy, so a brand new neoprene sleeve is included. What you see in photo 5 is all that is included with this sale.

I have never changed the factory settings. Brian (at Edgun West) set it up for me with lots of power, but with the 300cc carbon tank, I can shoot all 4 mags and still have air left for more!

This Leshiy2 is used, but remains in excellent overall shape. I never aired it up over 300bar. Never used in rainy weather. Always stored in a cool dry place. Very little cosmetic wear: a few light marks here and there - see photos. About what’s expected for a used Leshiy2.

Note: There is some very minor flaking off of the finish where the mags spin against the barrel - this was common with first gen. Leshiy2s. In no way affects the cycling of the mag or shooting. See photo 4.

My only reason for selling is that I bought another Leshiy2! (Longer barrel and larger caliber).

Asking $1850 PayPal f&f shipped anywhere lower 48.
With the extra mags, extra bits and upgrades, I feel like that’s a very fair price. Of course, best offers are welcome!

Let me know if you’re interested!

OKC had their June Field Target match this past Saturday the 22nd. Man it was hot and humid!! But we had 16 shooters show up for it, thanks guys. We set up the course a little harder this time, not too bad though!! All shot in Hunter class to boot. The match went off really good, love it when that happens.
On the top of the podium was Mike Atwell shooting a 53! The 2nd spot up there was Thom Davies. 3rd went to, oh wait that was a shoot off. A shoot off, between buddies you say, yepper. . Between Dave Cole and Curtis Nelson. With Curtis taking the shoot off for the * 3rd place seat. And they drove together from the Tulsa area, about 1 ½ hours away. I wonder how that drive went lol!!! Oh I am sure they made it back ok with only a little discussion, haaaa. Opps I forgot, Dave drove, OH my!!

Well, here are some photos taken by Dave, Thom and me. Hope you enjoy them! We sure had a blast even in heat!!

Thank you.

Any "sportsman class" Karma Red Panda shooters at RMAC?

I would like to hear from any "sportsman class" Karma Red Panda shooters who attended and shot at RMAC.

I'm sure all the Pro RP shooters have their choice of barrels to choose from directly from Karma and swap them out like candy. It's possible that pro shooters go through many different barrels until they find one they like. So their opinions might be bias.

But the sportsman class shooters are likely to shoot with an "out of the box" RP and may have a different perspective.

I'm strictly a long distance "bench rest" shooter with a goal of shooting targets at 600+ yards with the 30 or 35 cal slug models. I also have a very slight interest in 100 yard bench rest.

So what say you, sportsman guy? How did your RP perform at RMAC? Would you recommend it to your best friend or worst enemy?

If the membership can keep their comments "on topic" I would like to hear from you.

Gasoline or Electric Compressor

Price not being an issue, would you buy an electric or gasoline powered compressor, assuming of course that each is a high quality compressor (Alkin, Coltri, Bauer)? Yes, I know field use would lean to gas, fixed base toward electric - but just in general mixed use, and with possible resale in mind - which one?

N/A  New and need help choosing a PCP rifle

I am new to the air game and need help putting a rig together. I have been shooting precision rifles for decades and recently decided to give a PCP a try for shooting precision target and pests around my property. Mostly groundhogs and midnight missions against raccoons in and around my chicken coop. Shots out to 150 yards. I am leaning towards a .25, but that is as far as I have gotten. I want the highest quality I can get without going past the point of diminishing returns. Buy once cry once. Best speed without it being a broomstick. Quiet is important to me. And I want the rifle to be more accurate than me on my best day. :D

Semi vs bolt?
Brand?
New vs Used?
Brands?

I am open to any and all suggestions. Please help me to learn this new sport! Thanks!
