Caught Digging Up My Lawn

I’d noticed some shallow holes in my lawn a few mornings ago. My dog was going nuts but I didn’t investigate the night before.
IMG_9907.jpeg

Shot from a Huben K1 .22 shooting JSB MRD 25.39 grain domed Diabolo pellets.

This was a wild episode. My dog was over eager. We’d just returned from a walk. I scanned the yards as we stepped covertly. I saw the round lump in the grass. Stepped into a clearing with about 50-55 yards between us. I gave the hand signal for him to stay by my side and he did. Within 30 yards I took a knee and put the green light on the dillo. I focused the light to where the beam was concentrated, but not square shaped. If you have a cheap rifle mounted torch you probably know what I’m talking about. I verifed that it was still in the clear and that it was a dillo. I aimed at a shoulder and let it rip. I heard the familiar *thunk* of a pellet penetrating the armor. It rolled on to its side. The problem is the dog heard the impact too. Before I knew it he ran up on the dillo and the dillo jumped up and took off. They were running around the yard. My dog was all over it as it tried to make it to the fence. I could hear my dog biting the armor. By the time I turned on my thermal hand scanner again he’d picked it up and started walking with it. When he let go I called him back and he wasn’t listening. Once I was able to call him off, I took a follow up shot that put it on its back. When I walked up to it, his tongue slid out of the side of his mouth, but he was still breathing. I commanded my dog to step behind me, then I put the muzzle close to its head, and flipped his switch. This is the first time I’ve seen my pup turned dog’s killer instinct kick in. I like the aggression and initiative. One less pest around.

possibly the best slugs

Big thanks to Rich Briscoe of BARS Slugs 👊

Not all slug makers are the same—and Rich proves it. While many big-name brands chase one-size-fits-all designs, Rich takes a different path: building slugs that actually fit the shooter’s needs. No generic molds, no mass-market shortcuts—just precision, consistency, and a real understanding of what works in the field.

I’ve moved away from buying what others want to sell. Now I run what’s built for my setup, my goals, and my standards. That’s what Rich delivers—and it makes all the difference.

Thanks again, Rich. You’re raising the bar for what airgun ammo should be.

Theoben  Theoben Parts....??

Ok guys.... here is one for you.

I have been adding more Theobens to the safe and I am wanting to add more spares to make sure I can keep things running. I took a look over at the RAW site and found the spares that I am wanting......BUT....... the shipping rates are NUTS! For 10 little bits and bobs,
Barrel location screw for Rapids × 2
Bottle "O" rings (pack of 5) × 1
Bolt Circlip × 5
Authentic RAW Rapid Air Worx PVC Patch × 1
RAW Pressure Guage × 1
and the shipping is around $30!! These are all little parts that should be able to fit into a padded envelope!

Is there another source for reliable parts that are not going to cost half the amount of the of the parts for shipping?

Taipan  Taipan Slash

I have typically purchased all FX rifles besides my Texan and Edgun L. I was rebuilding another regulator for my MK 2 and then working on the valve on my Panthera when I read about the Slash.
I called Tony at Talon Tunes and he convinced me to try the Taipan and that I would love it. I received it yesterday in .22 and initial thoughts are outstanding. You do not need a moderator on this in my configuration: can’t speak on other caliber’s. Build quality is such that when you pick up the rifle you realize this is top tier.
I haven’t run the bottle down to see shot count as of yet. Magazine is wonderful. Easy to load and shoot. With both slugs and pellets neither had problems finding their mark. I shoot 50 to 90 yards in my back yard, mostly woods.
Semiautomatic works wonderfully and I love not having to move my hand to load another pellet. More to come on this I am sure.

RTI  The Mora does it again.

Today at the a Southern Ohio Negional N50 match held at the Fairfield Sportsman's Association range, the RTI Mora put up some impressive numbers, easily winning the day.

A bit of badly needed redemption for me provided by the most accurate, consistent and dependable gun I've owned to date.

Other  Wasn’t looking for another but…….

Like the title states, I really wasn’t looking for another rifle but this strange one came up and I jumped on it. This time another UK made rifle only a Webley. A very good condition Webley Osprey supertarget. This is my first Webley and my first tap loader. Strange setup indeed .The previous owner ( member here ) had it posted on the CAF with a few minor issues like the trigger wasn’t working but the price was right.
I received the rifle and was able to get the trigger back together and working. I shot a few pellets with a red dot mounted at 10 yards ( indoor range) single hole. Didn’t put it over the chrony as I knew I was going to get into the internal workings to freshen it up anyway. It was shipped with an Anschutz blade sight and a globe front sight. I promptly scoured the internet and found an Anshutz 6705 rear and new glove front sight set that are correct for the rifle. I am however missing the Webley adapter that sold with this rifle when new from 3/8 dovetail to 11mm. I’m still looking for a solution for that one.
Anyone who’s ever held one of these rifle can attest to how muzzle heavy it is with the 3/4” OD barrel in 19 3/4” long. What else could I do but chop the barrel. I removed 6 1/2” , took the OD down at the muzzle end to refit the globe sight block. But I ran out of my supply of blueing solution. I’m pretty fond of the Brownell’s Oxphoblue . If you take your time with it I find the final blueing turns out nice and black compared to other off the shelf products I’ve used. The seller also sent me an HW seal which I’m still on the fence if I’ll install it or not. We’ll see once I tear into the internals. That’s three springers over the last two months. I swear this is the last one . Hahahhahhaha

HW/Weihrauch  Vintage HW30S Courtesy of Air Canada

Since Bob & Doug Air is shut down and I’m not picking Kim up at airport today I decided to peruse estate sales. First one had a pic of what looked like two Blue Streaks, a Daisy underlever carbine, and an unmistakable HW breech block. Couldn’t tell which model from pics. First time I’ve ever seen respectable air rifles at estate sale here. 33 miles away, was rolling in less than 5. The Streaks and Daisy had sold on first day of sale Thursday, but this little HW30 was still there. And it was half price day too! Some wear, some surface rust, trigger guard so loose I’m surprised it didn’t fall on the floor, this girl was used. But, rifling looked good and Rekord trigger on it. Pre-safety. Paid and ran. Got home, tightened trigger guard, grabbed some AA 8.4 that were already on table. Not only did it shoot, it shot great! Beautiful shot cycle, NO buzz, NO twang. Trigger was crisp. Will chrono when it’s not 98 degrees and 110 heat index outside but my guess is it’s close to spec. Date code puts this one at 1967 according to The List so assuming it’s a leather seal? Looks like the metal cap on the end where safety would be on a new one just pops off to fit on a spring compressor but someone correct me if I’m wrong. Neat little rifle, glad I found it. Just hope Bob & Doug don’t expect a thank you, because they’re definitely not on our Christmas list this year.

PCP Rifle  SOLD WTT SOLD

Sold For the right deal I can add cash.
I recently picked up this Umarex Hammer Carbine 50cal from a forum member. It's a very compact big bore at 34 inches long . With a barrel of 23 inches it still can put out between 650-700 ft/lb of energy, for 4-shots. Comes with two/ 2-shot magazine's and some slugs.im asking $625 plus shipping, I only shot about 20 slugs through it and it functions like it should. Even though Wisconsin has just allowed Big Bore Air Rifles for hunting in the state. At my age I'm gonna pass, I don't know what I was thinking.
When new the Umarex Hammer Carbine 50cal sells for $1150. So make me a offer, the worst I can say is no thanks. If you would like to see more pics let me know.
If possible I would like to communicate by texting me at 92zero 4two79six08 or email me at [email protected]. thanks for looking,,,Richard
