Opinions wanted - best .22 underlever for general use

I have always assumed that the Diana 460 would be the standout underlever in .22 caliber. Not for competition, but for most everything else. Including some bragging rights off the bench. 😁

But now I'm wondering about the TX. And a friend has an outrageously accurate .22 HW97k.....

So, since forums need threads, and I'd like everyone's insight, I'm posting to ask about it.

Thanks in advance!

HW/Weihrauch  Weihrauch Stainless

Love rain days. This morning I shot 3 guns in common with the Weihrauch stainless version. It sure is a durable finish. And for a change they look good, they dress up nicely.
‘First up is a gem HW97 .20. If I notched this for tree rats, it would be saw dust. A gun you can measure everything to.
IMG_8793.jpeg
Another I shot, a 97 Blackline .22. Another Rocky gun. Love the stainless on black.
IMG_8801.jpeg
I could part with this gun, but it’s like one of the children. Staying for now.
Now this next rifle is very special. My newest, I bought this from my buddy. This is the first Weihrauch I ever saw, the start. It’s about 8 yrs. old, had nothing done to it and shoots like a dream. HW80 .22. Another black.

My friend sprayed some SC1 all over this gun 2 years ago. No fingerprints, zero. I think he said it’s used on motorcycles.

Nothing to wipe off. You have to be careful when carrying the barrel is slick. Really enjoy shooting thie one.
Let’s see those stainless guns. I know there’s some keepers out there. Crow

American Air Arms  Evol Mini 22

A couple years ago this was being hailed as one of the best offerings for compact full-power PCPs. People were gushing. But lately I've started to see them trickle more and more into the classifieds here and elsewhere and not much commenting on them anymore. I was a bit critical of them due to the price, but I had begun considering this gun as a future option if/when I need to replace me current primary critter gitter.

So what say the users that now have years of experience with it? Is it all that is was cracked up to be? If you sold it, why?

GX cs4 normal operating temperature

I received a new gx cs4 compressor last night and put 50/50 antifreeze mix in it, topped off my 30 minute tank from 3500 to 4500 in about 35 minutes. I had a digital thermometer in the coolant tank. It reached 139°f by the time it was done. Ambient temperature was 75°f. Anyone else check coolant temp? What are you running at?

Muzzle crowns....industry observation

I am not going to highlight any 1 particular brand with this since it seems to be something industry wide. The quality of muzzle crowns is not everything it should be on many AGs, on some there has been zero effort made to create one. Most do not own the necessary equipment to recrown barrels themselves. Yet there are many posts of every make and model with people achieving good accuracy, and fans of every brand out there. Out of curiousity do any of you own a rifle with a mediocre crown that exceeds accuracy expectations?

300yd optic

Hi!
I'm building up my 1st PCP; an FX Panthera in .25 (600 or 700) with the expectation of doing some long range shooting. I have 2 questions for anyone with long range air rifle experience:

1) What is the max effective range of a .25 air rifle? (How far out can you reasonably expect to maintain minute-of-pigeon accuracy and still have the force to do the job)

2) What magnification would you prefer (a reasonable min/max magnification)

Thanx!

It was nice out today. Took the Bosler and Girandoni to a friends...

First time firing the Bosler. A new valve and new seals were made.

The gun shoots great and was filled to 600psi.

We were shooting .465 round balls.
My friend Larry who casts the lead was having fun shooting these things

Video needs editing later... but wanted the first shot of the gun on filmed

HW/Weihrauch  I just wanted to post this purely out of my insatiable need for attention.

So glad that I took the time to bring this rifle back to life. I purchased two HW85s from the same gentleman. One of them was functional, while the other ( the rifle pictured ) had a broken cocking shoe, a torn piston sleeve and a badly split stock on the under side of the forend where the cocking lever blasted through it when the cocking shoe let go. The stock was rough. Full of dents, scratches, and gouges. The metalwork was still pretty nice. Some light surface rust that left some freckling after I buffed it off.with the time tested OOOO steel wool and Balistol. Otherwise, considering its age and evident lack of care, the bluing was surprisingly decent.
I tore it down and thoroughly cleaned every part. I installed an ARH Hornet kit and lubed the gun with the proper lubes in the proper places, and then I went to work refinishing the stock. Took her for a spin tonight. Time well spent on this one...

Shortening barrel, accuracy effect?

Hello-

I am thinking of having a machinist shortening my barrel. Barrel is not choke, question is which end should I cut to have less chance of effecting the accuracy? I am thinking the chamber side because you don't mess with factory crown. What do you guys think?

I would like to shorten it a bit. Why not just buy a shorter barrel, not for $400 though. btw - I do not know anything about barrel.

thank you,

PCP Rifle  SOLD (SPF) AAA Slayer 357 - Mag update

American Air Arms Slayer 357. I resealed the entire rifle and went through it inside and out. It's a VERY easy rifle to work on! Much easier than the EVOLs IMO. Very well thought out design. It's just sexy to look at in person!

It has an adjustable balanced valve and to my surprise a self-retracting probe design for extremely efficient airflow. I don't have much .35 ammo, but I tested it with 68gn Griffin HP-DB slugs (1179FPS), 81gn JSBs (1150FPS), and 117gn cast ammo 1033FPS) from Hunter's Supply and it's a beast. Definitely sufficient for hogs, coyotes, and probably deer with heavier ammo.

This is NOT a toy pellet gun! It's more like a firearm in power. I'd keep it, but I already have my bases covered and with a stockpile of lead in other calibers.

It's in excellent condition, just some minors marks on the rail that I can touch up with BC Aluminum Black. No magazine included, but I can link you to them for purchase through a dealer who has them in stock.

Barrel is excellent. It uses a real tensioning system that's solid!

Stock is AWESOME! It's two-axis adjustable (pad goes up/down and it can extend or retract). The factory moderator baffles are aluminum (not the fragile 3DP that breaks on a second shot like the EVOLs).
