Having trouble getting my rifle to hold zero.

Equipment:
Gamo Varmint .22 33mmOD/ 29mmID cylinder spring piston break barrel
Offset one piece scope rings
UTG bug buster 3-9x32, rear shimmed
H&N Baracuda 5.52mm 18.13gr

Shooting position:
Seated bench
Block for forward rifle support; no rear bag

Summary:
I’m looking for any advice or thoughts on zeroing my scope and getting it to hold zero. I got my air rifle about a month ago for pesting needs. Shot about 300-400 pellets through it. So far I have tried 3 different pellets and so far it seems to like barracuda 18s. Once I zero my rifle at 20yards, it can reliably shoot 1/2” groups at my shooting table and often drill the same hole. I’ve become pretty comfortable with my artillery hold although the heavy trigger sometimes makes for a tough shot particularly at ~30yards. Approximately <1” grouping.

Every so often, my zero will shift slightly when I check and shoot targets. One time I realized one of scope ring screws was loose so I checked and retightened them and then re-zeroed. Then another day it was off slightly again although holding a decent group. POI can be off both vertically and/or horizontally by 1” to 1-1/2” at 20 yards. It’s getting frustrating not being able to depend on my accuracy when I need the shot to count for pesting. Any advice?

-Should I loctite my scope screws?
-Is my scope broken? I have been trying to make sure the rings and scope are secured but also being aware of not crushing the scope. The rifle has quite a bit of kick.
-Is the accuracy shifting a sign that the barrel is still breaking in?

Just acquired this FWB 150. Looks nearly new. Serial number 35059 indicates it’s a 1968 model I believe. Having a traditional stock design makes it suited for either side shooters. And I shoot from the right side. I feel very blessed to have found this rifle in this condition. It Chrony’s in at 634fps using RWS Hobby 7.0 grain. Beautiful Walnut stock. Came with a bipod and adjustable Iris. The only thing it needs is a new breech seal. Does anyone here know where I can get one? Thank you.
edit: upon removal of the receiver from the stock, I discovered the stock is “walnut stained” Beechwood.
EDIT II- upon removal of the receiver again and a closer study of the wood stock, I can say with certainty that this stock is Walnut. Just very tight grained heartwood. Heavy like Beech.

Hello, just trying to secure the majority of what i will need as I should soon be receiving my first air rifle. I'm not trying to disparage any company in this effort.

I will be receiving in addition to the 30 caliber gauntlet 2 rifle some projectiles and an air compressor and a dear friend made me a safe stop target holder.

I am considering this oil water separator (posted below). It has generally favorable reviews on Amazon...but honestly I know so little about this topic and I would imagine that sometimes the reviews might be biased. That said, the company Gx is known to me from their compressors and several posts on this forum.

I got a Gamo Coyote (similar to BSA Buccaneer and some other Gamo's) to fix with pellets stuck in the barrel. The bolt and magazine are also stuck, I think because of the pellets.

I want to remove the breech and barrel but I want to depressurize the rifle first. Since the bolt mechanism is stuck, I cannot shoot the air out. I tried loosening the pressure gauge but after a few turns, there is no air coming out and I'm afraid too loosening it too much.

Does anyone know a safe way to depressurize this rifle? Thanks for the help.

UPS opens in just over an hour and a half, and I intend to be there first thing - for two reasons.

First off, I applied for a part-time job, and they contacted me, wanting to set up an interview. I figured I would show my face before they schedule one to show that I'm interested and serious.

Mist importantly though, I need to pick up two 25" × 6" × 3" boxes to ship my Benjamin to Tim in California! That's right ... by noon today EST, my 392 will be headed to the 'Spa' at Mac1 for a fitness regime.

Went on Altaros website and I can’t seem to find the booster pumps. Wonder if they stopped carrying them? I have been going back and forth from the idea of a compressor or booster with 6k N2. Finally decided on N2 with booster. Now I cant get booster.

I know there are plenty of lubes and it's not necessary to try and find some magical lube for regulators or orings, but I was thinking....I know, I know.

I use nitrogen instead of air in my airguns...so, does the lube matter at all? I mean no o2 to support detonation, so any lube that is safe for NBR etc would be ok, correct?

So, being that I have an issue "short stroking" the bolt on my new Marauder, which annoyingly results in a failure to cock the hammer.... I purchased a thumb rest from Airgun Revisions. Seemed like it might be a help for me to more positively cycle the bolt thus avoiding the failure to cock. And a simple "mod," too.



Only problem... it doesn't fit. It appears the threaded part of the barrel sits just slightly below the cut-out in the wood stock. So, I cannot get the thumb rest to engage the threads. It won't go in straight. The wood won't allow it to align properly to engage the threads.



It would seem my choices are to grind down the wood, which is going to look like poop (hesitant to do that).... or toss the thumb rest in the garbage and consider it a fairly minor $23 mistake.

I milled out an aluminum tab last night and secured it with some red RTV to a scope ring. Then, I turned off the finish from a parallax wheel. Now once the wind stops blowing, I can zero at various ranges and record different elevation settings ontovthe wheel for quick reference. It's not exactly a high end system, but it works, and is easily changed should I want to shoot a different pellet in the future.

Looking to increase the shot count. What did you install?

Hello all, I just bought his from a member here. I can't get it to register any shots. I've paired it to my phone, that shows a screen reading :0: I'v attached it to my Karma SLS via the side pic rail right in front of the trigger and it reads nothing. Tried putting on the little stand and just setting it near the muzzle, under and both sides, still not picking anything up. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any input.

SECOND EDIT: Taking the suggestion of Robert to wrap the inserts in felt (see below) has led to great improvements in the ballistics of the Sig, which now seems as good or perhaps even better than the Buck Rail, further testing is required. But gone are the wild cartwheels from before. I made a two can shorty with felt wrapped inserts, such a huge difference, more experiments are needed but I ran out of felt.

So this review is upgraded from "Problematic" to "Problem Solved?" Maybe so.

FIRST EDIT: After more experiments, I've found that in .177 with the first insert can and three empty cans, it groups pretty good, seems as Good as the Buck Rail. It also seems a bit quieter, although not as quiet as running it with all four inserts. With the .22 Sig Virtus it's worthless, which I'll comment on further in the thread.

So I've upgraded my review from "Garbage" to "Problematic".

Now as for my comments about Trenier, they're the seller, they did a quick efficient job of sending it and I also got some premium pellets at a great price. But the moderator itself is problematic, if I sold them I'd pressure these moderator companies for sales support, I'd not sell them without that.

INITIAL POST:

I was hoping this Huma 40 Avalanche in .25 would be a good moderator, I saw a lot of positive reviews around, reviews that were probably paid for. It's noticably quieter than my Buckrail. However, I can't hit the broad side of a barn from 25 yards using an otherwise fairly accurate .22 Sig Virtus, the pellets go every which way and I mean wildly, many veer off by 50 feet or more, not fooling. I've tried many things like shortening and switching around the cans and inserts. I even ran it empty. All gave dangerous results, I mean that, dangerously inaccurate.

I also tried it on a .177 Avenger and it's still very inaccurate, no way will it zero. And I've no such problems with the Buckrail.

So in conclusion, the Huma Mod 40 Avalanche Moderator is an expensive piece of junk suitable for shooting off your foot, or the foot of anyone in the area. If you've the side of a barn that you want to remain in pristine condition, get this moderator. Even a French airgun competition judge would have to agree, any French contestant using this moderator in competition will lose.

Lastly, I got it from Trenier in Wisconsin for $150, so I'd like to thank them for selling me this junk, I thought they were experienced with these moderators, but it seems they've no problem selling junk.

This is a test, ... if you had a pcp rifle, that produced a shot string with the following stats, what would be your determination?
Is this a well controlled string?
Is it considered a consistent string?
Would this be a good tune for....say 100 yd shooting?

Hello friends Mont here. Being a long time supporter of AGN. I date clear back to the days of Ted’s Holdover blog and the “big” move to AGN. With this legacy , I wanted to take a moment to share with you first. The future direction I’m taking my magazines.

At RMAC i was approached by many people asking about my Montster Design Magazines. It became very clear I had to make them available for anyone interested.
With designs for most of the top brands of Airguns. Including Fx, Daystate, Brocock, RTI, American Airarms and now Karma. The request was real eye opening for me.
So in the next few weeks you’ll start seeing more “Monster Airguns” and less “Montster Design”.
The need for a web site and product availability has pushed me to a name that was easy to find and understand.
With this change , a web website will emerge. At first, it will be small and simple. I’m working to create something that will allow people to get a high capacity magazine for their airguns.
I have been in talks with other magazine manufacturers about adding there products to this sight. Hopefully making a place where you can find the best product for your magazine needs.
