Preferred affordable filament for outdoors.

I have been printing a bottle clamp with the housing for my Gauntlet and currently using some cheap PLA for prototyping and getting the sizes right but curious what people recommend. Regarding staying strong and without deforming due to the temp and sunlight. I don't know if people have tried the HT-PLA from Polymaker or have any other recommendations.

Straight Shooters

Way back when I first got into airgunning, my go to shop was "Straight Shooters." I had several very productive conversations on the phone with the owner and purchased my RWS Air King and my Air Arms S410 and a bunch of pellets as well, from him back in the early 2000's. Just wondering how many of ya'll did business with this guy? He recently retired and closed up his shop, too bad, because I'd do business with him any day. I would have liked to have met him in person.

FX  My FX M3 ... A "Love" ... "Hate" Relationship.

I have no issues criticising the many flaws in some of the aspects of the FX Impact M3 ...... my heavily modded M3 can make me smile and can on occasions make my cringe!!

Haven't shot it for a couple of months now .as i have been doing a lot of ELR shooting with my Desert Tech HTI 375 Chey-Tac .

Pulled it out this arvo.... dead empty of coarse ( persistent slow leak in cold weather) ....charged it up.
My most common target i shoot at with the airgun is at 250 yds...wandered out put some fresh white on it...pink centre mark.
Came back, plonked the FX down.....fired 2 shots to settle reg,s......

Absolute perfect conditions....not a breath of wind..

Next 8 shots ......... and today ... big smile .... pretty much bang on...

Its a "Love" "Hate' thing for sure... :ROFLMAO:

Karma EQ .30 cal

I received my Karma EQ in .30 cal this week. I took it to the range and I was so impressed with shooting a .30 cal. This is the first time. I have only shot .25 cal and smaller. It was very windy but was able to sight it in at 45 yards. It was knocking down the targets used in Rimfire lane. I was able to hit the 100 yard 3 inch target. I shot two full mags from 4300 psi down to the reg 2150 psi. I didn’t adjust anything so far.

Athlon Chrongraph, is flawed if shooting with others

A buddy loaned me his new Athlon crony last Saturday and I used it for one card in our N50 match. It picked up my shots AND the shots of the next bench to my left. I was going to buy one until I used his. Its useless in a match situation. It might be fine for a single shooter but totally useless if shooting next to another shooter in close proximity.

I wonder if Garmin’s have this same problem?

Pellet sizing with a T.R. Robb sizer…

This might be a thread showing off my n00bness, but so be it.

Ordered these from Mr. Robb in jolly ol’ England and finally got around to using it since I had time today. I noticed that my Diana 54 liked pellets at 5.48mm head size because bigger than that made for difficult seating in the chamber, so I sized some RWS wadcutters I was using down from 5.54.

Aside from match shooters, how many of y’all size pellets to each rifle as a normal part of plinking? Just like for centerfire, I try to remove as many variables as I can to ensure confident shot placement.

Or am I nuking backyard plinking far too much? 😉

Benjamin  Muting the Marauder (How to make the quietest Marauder possible)

My goal was simple: create the quietest possible .22 Marauder that still produces over 12 FPE for ethical gopher kills out to 40 yards. In other words, it had to be “backyard friendly” without sacrificing performance.

I chose the Benjamin Marauder as an upgrade to the Daisy 880, mostly because of its reputation for being one of the quietest affordable PCPs on the market. So when I pulled the trigger for the first time, I was shocked. The shot was loud, mechanical, and absolutely not backyard friendly. My stomach dropped.

Now, after a series of upgrades and experiments, this rifle is whisper quiet—quieter than a stock Marauder, yet still delivering the same energy. Here’s how I got there.

Original Setup
  • Gun: Benjamin Marauder .22 cal with Lothar Walther Barrel (unregulated)
  • Pellets: JTS Dead Center 25.39 gr

Current Mods
  • Hill Regulated Parts Kit
  • Hill PEEK Striker
  • Hill Barrel Band
  • JSAR Twin Spring System (TSS) + Stopping Spring Guide (SSG)
  • Huma XXL Regulator
  • DonnyFL Sumo Moderator
  • Eagle Vision Harmonic Barrel Tuner with Air Stripper
Previous Mods
  • Hill Depinger
  • Airgun Revisions Tuned SSG
  • Buck Rail Moderator
Component Breakdown and Reasoning

Moderator
I started with the Buck Rail 3D-printed moderator and later upgraded to the DonnyFL Sumo. Despite the price difference, I noticed no real change in shot report. Both are extremely effective at quieting the muzzle blast, but once that’s handled, mechanical noise becomes the dominant sound. A good moderator is essential, but only the beginning.

Regulator
Adding the Huma XXL regulator was a turning point. I experimented with pressures from 2200 to 1300 PSI. The lower the pressure holding the valve shut, the quieter the shot. Settling at 1300 PSI gave me the best balance. The depinger I tried earlier didn’t do much, but the regulator accomplished the same goal and more.

Hammer and SSG System
The JSAR TSS and SSG combo is easy to tune and doesn’t require disassembly. Compared to the AGR SSG I used before regulating, it’s much lighter and works better with the new valve dynamics. Preload settings on both hammer and SSG allow fine control over energy and dwell time.

Hill Regulated Parts Kit
This kit comes with a high-flow transfer port, aluminum hammer, dry-lube coating, drill bit for opening the barrel port, and an optional PEEK striker to reduce metal-on-metal impact. The changes are substantial enough that it’s hard to isolate which part had the biggest impact, but taken together, they deliver results.

Barrel Tuner
I haven’t tuned this yet, but the Eagle Vision unit with air stripper is installed. It likely helps with accuracy, especially at 40+ yards.

Tuning Profile
  • Transfer Port: 100% open
  • Striker: Fully seated (per PEEK instructions)
  • Reg Pressure: 1300 PSI (90 bar)
  • Hammer Preload: 100%
  • SSG Preload: ~100%
  • Spring: Factory (lightest available)
I found that once I went above 750 FPS, the noise started to climb sharply. After testing multiple configurations, I landed on one that allows full hammer preload (to retain power) and near-max SSG preload (to shorten dwell time). This combination is where the rifle runs the quietest.

Performance Results
  • 25.39 gr @ 750 FPS ≈ 32 FPE
  • Sound Meter: 66.8 dB at 36 inches to the side of the muzzle
  • Accuracy: Sub-10 ES, reliable grouping at 40 yards

Final Thoughts and Next Steps

My current shot count isn’t great. I was getting over 60 shots from 3000 to 2000 PSI with just the AGR SSG unregulated. Now, I’m down to 40 regulated shots from 3000 to 1500psi. I suspect the issue is valve dwell and may try a lighter spring, though no airgun vendors seem to carry one softer than stock.

Another option could be the JSAR Delrin hammer, though it’s heavier and would probably require more reg pressure. I’ve also been eyeing the JSAR balanced valve, but it’s out of stock and I haven’t had luck getting a response from them.

There’s a video floating around of a fully JSAR-modded Marauder hitting mid-800s and still sounding quiet. Hard to judge sound through a video, but it’s got me thinking there may be more room to improve.

Accuracy is excellent. My 10-shot group at 40 yards honestly could’ve been tighter despite how good it was, but I’m still using a $25 CVLife scope from Amazon. Parallax is a mess, so that’s next on the list.

I’d love to hear about any of your experiences trying to quiet your air rifle down for backyard/silent shooting!

I have the opportunity to buy .

Just like the title says.i want to hear from owner's.i hunt s squirrels a lot.i want a semi auto very compact very lightweight air rifle in 25 caliber. I have done a ton of reading on the subject but I would like owners to chime in about the rifles.hubens .leshy. Western air gun sidewinders. Or should I just wait for the new Taipan / to come out. I live in Ohio and I'm talking about tree squirrels from 10 yards to 70.

Airgun Technologies  Got to love those Eastern European airguns

Had a quiet Sunday afternoon , so , time to shoot a little . I pulled out my AGT Vulcan 3 and set out some targets . Wow ! Talk about consistency .............this gun rocks I had just mounted my Athlon 4X prism scope and zeroed at 25 yards...........no wind today so I decided to stretch it's legs a little to 50 yards , shooting JTS 29.63 pellets . Here's 5 shots @ 50 yards . I'm impressed . Then I decided to run 10 over the chrony to grab some numbers........867 - H , 863 - L , .....ES - 4 SD - 1 49.24 fpe . This is what makes an airgun great. It's other "safe - mates" from the EU are equally impressive . Nuff said ; pictures speak louder than words..............

Usft vs RAW HM/TM1000 ???

Have been shooting the usft for a bit and it is a hell of a rifle, but the feeling is something different. I have a small, but growing, collection of Theoben style rifles and I always enjoy them. So it got me thinking.......which would be better? Assuming caliber and fps are the same...would thr usft or an hm1000 be better for field target?

I know the usft is stupid simple to work on, where as the hm1000 is just as simple and I have done it plenty before.

The stock options for the hm1000 are greater.....as there is no stock on the usft.

Just looking for some ideas or anything from people who have shot both....

Thanks guys

Keeping going round and round with rifles...can't seem to keep one around for long.

Other  Whats That One Pcp That's Checks All The Boxes

I have been doing this a long time and have had well over 30 different pcps at throughout my hobby. I have seen alot learned a lot and have my favorites and keepers. What I am looking for next needs to check a few boxes and need a little help figuring it out. As some of you may know I work for DNT Optics and am the airgun guy on the US staff and probably have spoke to some of you. With this next purchase I need whisper quiet so I can test and practice all hours, no reg creep or something that does well on 1sr shot after sitting, holds zero, can be .177 or .22 ane honestly a sub12 option is fine I actually enjoy low power (also full power options are welcome as well because I want to have options to give my team as well) Needs to have a rail of some sort as all shooting will be done from a bench tripod or field tripod. All ideas are welcome and I will include a picture of what I currently have. As always thank you to the community I have the most respect for.

Up for grabs is a Vortex Viper PST Gen II 3-15x44 FFP scope. EBR-2C MRAD Reticle.
Great glass. Nice clicky turrets. Vortex rubber flip-up scope caps, throw lever on power adjustment. I've sold a couple guns, and have some extra scopes. I had this on my Taipan .25 Long, that I just sold.
Does have 2 scratches on the left side of the tube. Price reflects these, and they do not affect scopes performance.
