Hey guys, I bought an avenger .22 earlier this year but im craving something else, Im thinking of maybe getting something around the $1500 mark (used or not) that can produce enough energy for slugs aswell. Im thinking of settling with a maverick or Dreamline. I seen a couple of other good used options here on agn but i think im too new to pm. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

All I can say is holy crap. Talk about an adrenaline rush! Earlier this year Penny and I walked right up on a raccoon, I was able to dispatch it with a 17 caliber springer. I thought that was the highlight of the summer, as far as excitement goes.

Today we are out for our evening walk. There are chipmunks chirping everywhere. I need to thin them out quick. I make my long offhand shot of the summer, 47 yards lasered. So I go back to get my phone take a picture etc., and resume our walk.

We drop another chipmunk after walking 100 feet. We MoveOn. All of a sudden I hear snarling. And Penny is Darting full speed at something. I thought it was another chipmunk. Not quite.

It’s amazing how you will react when something you love is under attack. Penny had a good hold of its shoulder, And it was trying to bite her. Big teeth. I know because I was 2 feet from them, screaming my head off, trying to get Penny to let go.

I actually kicked Penny to get her to listen. not hard more of a push. And at the same time I was pushing on the wood Chuck with my butt stock. But they were connected….Finally Penny let go. All of a sudden I realized the damn thing could come at me. I’m right there 3 feet from it. And my single shot 20 caliber prehistoric PCP is not even loaded let alone cocked. Talk about a holy crap moment!

It tries to get away in the brush and I’m having none of it. I ran in front of it to cut it off yelling while Penny was barking on it like crazy from behind. It’s shoulder was all messed up from my brave dogs work.

Somehow with all this was going on I reloaded. I pointed the gun at it from 2 feet, and missed. It moved right when I pulled the trigger. And I was trying not to hit penny at the same time. I only had one pallet left in my shirt pocket, I couldn’t get it out. Try to find 1 20 caliber pellet in your shirt pocket while this is going on and get it in your fingers and get it loaded in your single shot Rifle. Oh my God. Penny is barking like a maniac. I am yelling at her to stay away but keeping her around close enough to keep it from running away. I finally get it loaded, and I don’t have any more pellets, so I’m trying to stick the barrel right next to its head while keeping Penny at bay. It keeps trying to lunge at me and bite the end of the barrel. I got lucky and give it a nice heart shot.

My voice is still hoarse from screaming. I got a tel ya, that was a freaking adventure. Not one I need to live through again.

Right at the very beginning I thought it was a badger, the funny thing is, as my heart sank I was moving forward towards Penny.
then they flipped over and I saw it was a woodchuck, I was relieved.

I wanted so badly to just grab it with my hands like a football and throw it.

And this is why I always go heeled when we go for a walk.

This morning I put a replacement PG4 kit in my wife Gwen's Hw30. It was shooting fine but the cocking foot was carving into steel outer guide. I had Tom replace the kit. Trying to do me a favor he sent it to me lubed with Krytox. I've ordered my kits dry in the past because I use Krytox on some guns. Somehow he thinks I use Krytox all the time.

I typically don't use Krytox on Hw30s because you give up about ten fps over a clean running petroleum based gun. Gwen doesn't care about power so I leaned into it and converted the gun to Krytox.

When I first shot it. The shot cycle was as subdued as a mouse fart. I thought "ohhh great, what did I do? ". Scared the gun went backwards too far I broke out the chronograph. Pictured are the results
All groups are 5 shots except #25 which is 10 shots.
Top number = Avg fps
Middle number = Extreme Spread
Next number = Standard Deviation
Decimaled number is energy.

Overall the extreme spread is all over the place. This might improve over time or with a new piston seal. The accuracy is ok at this short range so I'll wait and see what happens outside.

These numbers are abnormal. Her gun was running hot with the other kit in it. JSB 7.33 were running in the 720s when I broke it down. It probably had 1500 shots on it. I guess I'm posting this because I'm pleasantly surprised almost shocked how good it shoots at these power levels.

Pan head vs ball head tripod…

Wanting advice on pros and cons of both.
I have a saber tactical Arca rail on a maverick .25.
Maverick is a bit weighty wondering if ball moves more than a pan head. Also have a budget of $250 or less.

When it comes to buying airguns on eBay I’m reluctant. I would rather BUY here on AGN where I can get a good idea who I’m buying from.

Selling on here is a different story. If it ain’t a trending or reputable brand you can almost guarantee it will take a while to sell or you’ll have to drastically reduce the price. For example: I had a hatsan bt65 elite that cost $750 brand new. I list it for $400. A couple weeks go by and no bites. So I drop it to $350. Couple weeks go by and nada. I try a different tactic and list it as a WTT for a springer. Same results after two weeks. I put the gun back in the closet and it sat there for a year until I decided to put it up on eBay. It went up on eBay as an auction which got me about $400 after fees.

Or the DAQ pistol I posted on here 3 days ago. Didn’t even get a tire kicker. Put it on eBay last night and it sold this morning.

Certain items will sell better on eBay than a forum. Particularly vintage guns and guns made by less desirable brands. Yea the eBay fees suck but you get a little kickback from the discount on shipping. Plus the higher prices that you can sell them for balance out the cost of fees.

This method might not work for everyone but it has for me with the last 7 guns I sold on eBay.

RAW BM 500 .177

I purchased a used circa 1986 12fpe HW77k in .20 from AoA earlier this year. It was my first .20 and my first springer rifle. I never intended to scope it and was planning on using open sights, but it didn't come with a rear sight. Took a few months but AoA was able to source one for me.

There was nothing wrong with the base stock, but I wanted something more interesting so I purchased a Forrest Green laminate stock from Craftsman Vic.

Very happy with this setup now.

Just a short clip of me shooting my Daystate Delta Wolf .177 HP at 75 meters or 82 yards using JSB 13.43 gr RD at 845 FPS

The gun does function but I’m sure it needs a rebuild. It had a bent barrel but it straightened out pretty decent. There are a couple small holes in the stock. The gun isn’t perfect but it’s not horrible in my opinion for it’s age. I’ll sell it for $80 shipped. PayPal friends and family or add 3%.

A while back I stopped by a local airgun shop and was informed that the FX barrels in .177 don't shoot well. They said that if someone was looking for a .177 then another manufacturer would be a better route. Is this a matter of the shop not selling FX or is there some truth behind? I am looking for a .177 for plinking and have my eyes on a Dreamline as an entry to PCP guns but figured it would be a good idea to look into it. The Dreamline to me seems to provide an entry level PCP gun with enough flexibility not to paint you into a corner with regards to what you can do with it. That said, the Daystate Huntsman is also on the short list followed by a hard left turn with a AA TX200.

I have a FX Crown VIP specifically tuned for JSB Hades. It’s insanely accurate and reliable. 700mm barrel.

Hi folks. My FX Maverick 30 cal sniper is very quiet as far as muzzle pop is concerned thanks to a DonnyFL Ronin. However, I've got the power cranked up pretty good and the whole gun sounds like someone smacking a steel pipe with a hard rubber mallet. The sound does not bother me, but a neighbor's horse that is more than 100 yards away gets spooked every time. I gotta shut this thing up some how. Have any of you had this problem and solved it by, perhaps, covering as much of the gun as possible with closed-cell foam?

Bought this last year from a well known forum member who originally purchased it from Airguns of Arizona in 2021, all original box, paperwork and receipt plus retailer chrony testing is included, along with 5 total magazines, 3 of which are still new in packaging. Original fill probe and uninstalled forward pic rail section are included as well. Gun is in excellent to as-new condition, has not been into woods or carried uncased in a vehicle. Shoots JSB 16 at 845 fps average with extreme +/- 3 fps across a regulated 2900 PSI fill for 3 mags/30 shots. Gun is scary accurate. I’m small statured and grip is a bit large and far from trigger to suit my small hands, but otherwise trigger is superb and crisp, so I haven’t adjusted anything on this rifle.
