RTI Prophet questions?

I am thinking about getting a used Prophet in .22 caliber. I would like to shoot pellets and slugs. I'm thinking that it is adjustable enough to tune for both. Are all the different models (barrels) capable of shooting both accurately (pellets under 50yds and slugs for 50-100yds)? I see that the Prophet in .22 has a 20" barrel and choked. The Prophet II in .22 has a 24" barrel and "lightly choked". Is there a Prophet Performance LR with a different barrel? Which barrel/model would you recommend for someone wanting to shoot pellets and slugs?

Considering another PCP

I am considering adding another PCP too my collection.
The leading contender is a Crown MKII. The other option is a 22 Maverick Compact that my wife abandoned after getting her M3. I have thought about converting it instead.
The question is what caliber.
I currently have a 22 slug gun and a 25 compact pellet shooter. For some reason and not necessarily a good one I am drawn to the 30. The other option is a 25 cal set up.
I am wanting to put together another slug shooter. Talk me into or out of the 30 cal. Cost of projectiles is not a factor. I am wanting considerations on ballistics down range accuracy etc.

"Pellet" diameter question

First, yes, I know that there is a "projectile" section. But I don't see the same names as I see in this section...for what ever reason.
So...here goes, with this group.

I noticed a long time ago, that many pellets come in different diameters.
Like the H&N Baracuda, in .22 caliber, have three different diameters. 5.50", 5.51", and 5.52" diameters. Some others also offer small diameter differences.

Have any of you attempted an accuracy check (a locked down gun is the best for checking) with the same (no matter the brand) weight pellet, but with the small diameter differences ?

New Weihrauch HW100S

Just in on Friday, my new HW100S. Marked 50 Joules on the receiver and it delivers with an average of 968 fps with the JSB heavy 18.1 grain pellets for 37.7 ft lbs or 51.1 Joules. Accuracy with these JSBs is excellent too; I searched out all of the reviews and videos that I could find and the JSB Heavies usually performed well in the HW PCP's so that's what I bought and it was a good decision. I mounted the scope, a Hawke Vantage 4-16x44SF in UTG rings and got a rough zero with the wind blowing too much for an exact adjustment. Then chrony time, with a 28 shot average as mentioned above of 968 fps. The rifle has 14 shot rotary magazines; filled to 200 Bar, 28 shots put the reservoir gauge needle right to the 120 Bar yellow zone, which is the regulator point. In two fills shot number 29 dropped to 945 fps, so the guns fill pressure, regulator setup and number of shots are an exact match to two 14 shot magazines. The first couple of shots I was surprised how quiet the rifle is and actually wondered if it had fired. If holes hadn't appeared in the paper I would have been questioning that. I have an Evanix AR6 Renegade rifle that shoots 42 foot pounds, only 6 more than this rifle and it does so with a fairly loud blaataang.

I attached the supplied sidelever handle or "biathlon handle" to the action lever, I like that. I chose to use the receiver dovetails instead of the supplied Weaver/Picatinney rail. I prefer the infinite fore and aft adjusment range. The stock walnut isn't a figured piece, it's straight grained and a pleasing medium brown color with some darker grain contrasts. The comb height is perfect for scope use. Styling is a bit Germanic but it is a German rifle!

I'm not accustomed to using a side focus scope so that will take a while to get used to. This is my first use of a Mil dot reticle too. I zeroed the rifle at 42 yards and with the scope at 16x the first dot hit centet at 50 yards. Groups were excellent and I made final zero adjustments right before dark when the wind died down. At 22-1/2 yards, five shots was one pellet hole in diameter, at 42 yards a half inch and last group of the day in quickly fading light was right at 7/16" ctc at fifty yards for five JSBs. After I get used to shooting this HW squirrels will perish!

Unrelated to air gunning but has to do with FedEx poor delivery system

My apologies but I need to vent.

I order 2 bars of Gold (as a investment) and if you ever ordered such a item then you know it requires a signature and since it is highly insured
you can not change the delivery location while in transit or it will not be insured.

Well, first day of expected delivery waited outside for over a hour, no show and didn't even see a FedEx truck at any point.
The problem is I was out by the road at the time they (on their website) stated and well past the time stated as well. A attempt was never made
but according to their website they did make a attempt, they did NOT.

Second day I waited a total of well over 2 hours again right by the ONE Way Road and I did see a FedEx truck and was reaching for my I.D
but nope they kept going. Again their website states yet another attempt was made, again there was NO Attempt made (driving by is not a attempted delivery).
Now as we all know on the Third missed delivery and your package gets sent back to the retailer/Sender.

Now today I see this on their website (We made another delivery attempt: 10/01/2022 10:38 AM. Pick up your package(s) today after 01:00 PM at FedEx Facility: 1000 SATHERS DRIVE . A final delivery attempt will be made on the next business day.)

Why in the hell would they attempt to deliver a package on a Saturday that was marked by Sender Week Days Only Delivery in person signature required? And there (FedEx) site stated
(UPDATED DELIVERY
Monday10/3/2022 before 8:00 pm
Initially expected: Friday, 9/30/2022)
I have a good ideal why, We are dealing with Morons!

I am soo pissed, we pay extra for 2day deliver FOR WHAT? To be jerked around?

So, worrying if they will out right steal our packages isn't bad enough we are forced to play this cat and mouse game to. FedEx You Suck!

Thank you I just needed to vent, Now back to our scheduled viewing.

NLA WTT- saddest baddest custom SilverStreak I’ve ever seen

Sheridan SilverStreak.20 in custom stock…..So painful to see like this…was damaged in shipping and after months got refunded as I insured it fully thank God. It has sat waiting years now for me to….save ME!! Before I send off to have it fixed if possible….I’d offer her to a new home with that’s fully committed to her. So painful it still either makes me mad or sad but often both and I need to move on or man up and save the centerpiece of my humble Sheridan family. Stock is an amazing custom with a few tiny marks…find em in pics if you can..they are there but barely for the most part….action has bent barrel from shipping at muzzle wear the moderator adapter. If I end up keeping it I will be ok eventually 😜
Trade interests….22 PCPs, NV scope, ? Let the games begin. Thanks all.

Barrel Polishing Reason

I have a new 177 cal crown been having it a week have cleaned the barrel 3 or 4 times today i shot about 300 rounds the accuracy was definitely off by the end of the shooting session i was setting up the scope for FT next weekend the 1st 2nd & 3rd patch had ballistol on them and you could see flakes of lead in the patches. Would this be a good reason to polish the barrel?

SOLD Two Airgun Digital Pressure Gauges for FX Maverick - Reduced

I have two digital pressure gauges for $75.00 shipped by insured priority mail. They work fine; I’m “old school” and prefer the analog gauges. I got them on an FX Maverick and replaced them with FX analog gauges. I don’t know if they will fit other FX air guns. They are 30mm. PayPal F&F.

Fx still using O-rings on tension barrel???

Why is FX still using the O-rings on their STX Slug tensioned barrel kit? I would think they would use the carbon sleeve over the barrel. Also this isn't really a Tensioned barrel. The barrel is only held in place by o-rings. The tension is put on the barrel liner. This should help with accuracy but it does nothing to help with the barrel harmonics.

Creating an FT facility and range

Opportunity strikes - here in Mobile Alabama, I am surrounded avid hunters and outdoor enthusiasts; yet few, and I do mean few, airgunners reside here. Lots of people may own an airgun but it’s a leftover novelty from their childhood. Most hunters here pay to be members of a hunting camp. The nearest FT location to me is over 2.5 hours and 2 states away. @BC, a very knowledgeable and accomplished FT participant is in the process of creating an FT location just 1 hour away to the East in Pensacola FL. Yea!
Contemplating this Void in the airgun world I realize that my community has an itch that needs scratching and they don’t even know how much they itch.
Question 1 - how much land and type of land does a quality FT club need?
Question 2 - how does one sell the powder burners on the idea of airguns, so they’ll not only participate, but also contribute to its success?
Those who have gone down this path before me, certainly must have lots of lessons learned to share! Ideas?
GO!

Accuracy drop off

I bough my first PCP (.22 FX Wildcat mk3 VP Bottle) about 2 months ago. I have shot a couple thousand pellets through it (and some slugs) to find what brand, weight (14g to 30g) and power settings work best. I can get basically pellet-on-pellet at 25yds, and inside of a quarter with 10 shots at 50yds. But 100 yards is a different story. At 100yds I can hit a 2' x 3' target, but my shots are all over the place. When I make adjustments based on the previous shot(s), that usually does help initially, but before long I'm all over the place again. (I have not made any modifications to the gun at this point)

Can a slight wind be messing with my accuracy/consistency that much at 100?

Any suggestions on how to shoot more accurately down range?

A better zero?

I’ll make this short and sweet as I know this has been discussed previously on here but… As I’m breaking in my TX200 I have been playing with my zero distance and what I found was (in my case) zeroing my rifle at 20y gives me a much flatter curve than a 25y zero. I’ve just always assumed it to be the golden range.

I’ll post a pic below and granted this is very early in my testing and I only have ranges out to 40y but I’m wondering if I should go back and look at my PCPs (that shoot similar power) to see if this trend continues. Or if some odd first and second zero work better for them. I have only done this on 12x (max on my scope) but I played with lower magnifications and it doesn’t seem to change POI but much to a certain extent.

Has anyone else found an odd zero that works better for them? I know you can use ballistic apps but I’ve found doing it the manual way is more effective for me.

PS: Does anyone have a better way of storing holdover data? I plan to remake the yardage markings on the computer once I know they’re good to go. Would love to see what everyone comes up with.

SOLD New RTI Prophet II Performance .30

***SOLD***

Up for grabs,
Is my one week old RTI Prophet II Performance in .30 caliber.
Only shot yesterday, off bench. Too powerful for what I need. I don’t know what I was thinking...
First five shots, I put across the chrony, shooting 44.75gn pellets, were all 915fps. Every shot.
So then I proceeded to sight in at out to 40 yards, which is one ragged hole.
I tried several LDCs and settled on the Tatsu. It did as good of job as the bigger ones, without the added length. Gun holds air, is accurate, and powerful. Not a thing wrong with it.

Will come everything it came with new, and the extras I bought with it:
Prophet II Performance in RTI hard case, and outer box,
an extra magazine,
RTI bag rider (these are sweet),
Prophet T shirt, and all extras.
Scope, rings, and moderator, are not included. No trades as I’m trying to downsize.
Priced to sell. $1540. PayPal f&f.
