Sorry ZAN, but I'm not feeling it

This operation has been marketing themselves quite well over the last year, comendable. However, over last year and a half, I bought several different size ZAN slugs and on examination , found them a bit rough, not near as clean as , say , NSA or AVS slugs. Honestly, it appears ZAN follows the H&N formula for lead / antimony mix. You can see the generally darker grey that H&N products exibit. While NSA and AVS slugs appear much brighter and cleaner. Now grant you, AVS is currently pricier, but NSA is not. So, are folks going for the exotic?, slick marketing? Basically, how is ZAN different from NSA outside of formula mix?

The most fun YOU have with Airguns ?

How do you quantify fun ? where do you find the most fun with your airguns ?

If we are talking about strictly fun in my case it comes down to my Tangfolio 1911.

I have 3 magazines that I fill with only 10 rounds and rotate them so they never really get cold ( it also helps it never really goes under 80 degrees here and most of the time it's 85-90 )

Anyway, for me fun is to train quick draw and double tap, re-holster and do it again.

Here is my target

Has to be over 150 rounds that I just shot right now

this pistol has to be the best 100 bucks I've spent in airguns

Optics  SOLD Sniper Scope 6.5-20 X 42

I bought this scope mainly out of curiosity and only had it on my Brocock long enough for testing. My conclusion was that for the money, this is actually a pretty decent scope. I did a short review on it when I first bought it, but I have much better scopes and just don't use it at all. Illuminated red/green, flip up covers, locking eyepiece, side parallax, dovetail mounts, and sun shade. Like new in the original box. $79.00 PayPal F&F or add for the fee. Shipping included to the lower 48 states.

New to breakbarrels

After sticking to PCPs ever since my plinking hobby started, I finally went out and purchased a breakbarrel! I went with the Gamo Swarm Magnum Gen2 (.22) because of it's power, and of course it's main selling point: feeding pellets from a mag.
GamoSwarm_ProductCard.jpg

I shot my first groups today and holy cow this takes some getting used to! The recoil for one, and having to reset my shooting position after every shot. I absolutely loved it though! Not needing to refill and carry airtanks around is a godsent, and has really upped my time spent at the range by at least an hour, haha. Cocking the rifle after every shot is also a nice free workout ;)

That said, any tips for a breakbarrel newcomer? Do's and don'ts, technique, accessories, ammo? For example, any decent scopes that are affordable yet effective for beginners? I currently have a very basic Gamo scope that came with the rifle, but I'm definitely planning to replace it, as this particular one has a fixed magnification. Other than that I'm just figuring stuff out as I go along I guess.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Airforce TalonP Carbine .25 - $449

I'm thinning the herd so this is up for grabs. This is an almost new (actually better than new) Airforce TalonP Carbine .25 cal with extended tank (twice as many shots per fill), DonnyFL, custom buttstock and pistol grip. It is currently tuned for 33 grain JSB pellets. Very light, quiet and accurate. I currently have a Vortex Crossfire 2 MOA Red Dot mounted which can go with the rifle. This cost me over $1,000 and I'm selling everything except the red dot for $449 shipped CONUS assuming PayPal F&F. If you want the red dot, add another $80.

trying to decide Wildcat Bottle Sniper .30 or Uragan 2

Hi all,
My goal is to have a decent off-hand shooting gun I can walk with. Also just for fun and accuracy at a little longer distances and I am intrigued by slugs. I am leaning toward the Wildcat because it is lighter. I love the look of the Uragan. I also considered getting Huben in .25. Having a hard time deciding what I want to do. I have a Crown in .30/600mm. I love the gun but am leaning toward a different barrel smaller caliber and shorter barrel setup or even selling it, as it seems underpowered to do the slug thing. It is also quite long with a moderator. Anyway, I realize this is an impossible question for you all to answer but I figured i would throw it out there. thanks. Doug

Special production run 22grain .177cal

A well known pellet manufacture have made this special run of 22grain .177cal solid slugs.
The darker slug to the very left is a 20grain .177cal HP.

Walmart compressor

I bought a pcp compressor for <$185 at Walmart and it works great so far. I also have a gx cs2/3 but the new one from wallyworld fills my guns in <1/4 of the time of the gx. I wanted it a little more travel friendly so I added my own cooling system consisting of 2"pvc a new water pump(fits inside 2"pvc)2 radiators with 3 cooling fans. Working great so far.

Maximum power for .25 crown mk2

Hi all.

Just wondering with all thats available for tuning a fx crown mk2 ( tungsten hammer weight etc), what is a safe amount of power that it could be tuned to before any damage could occur due to excessive forces? I have found that 36.2g NSA slugs to be the most accurate at 875fps out of my .25 ( 65ftlbs) with a 600mm superior liner and reg pressure set to just under 150 bar. Could it be said that with my current barrel length, i am at my safe limit ?.

SoCal pesting with my new buddy!

It’s been a while since last time I went hunting/pesting. I got this new pup a few months ago, now he is almost four months old and ready for training, specially for waterfowl hunting.
I took him out to see how he does with squirrels and he didn’t disappoint.

This is the best time of the year to go out pesting, beautiful weather, the flowers are blooming everywhere, just gorgeous!

I spotted a medium size squirrel about 86yards according to my range finder.
It was a solid shot on the chest area. This 29.5gr NSA slugs hit with authority!

The Veteran was dead on!

We got another one, I chose this one a little closer 55 yards, so he could see it. As soon as he heard the Thwaakk! He went straight at him. I felt so proud seeing him going for it and retrieving it!

The squirrels were very skidish but we managed to get at least 12. All of them within 50-100 yards.
After a few hours of hiking we decided to come back to camp for a good lunch and target shooting.

The Veteran is one of my favorites, sooo reliable!

My First Post Retirement Schedule

Target Tuesdays and Target Thursdays is my first set in stone schedule since my retirement 3 weeks ago. Of course any day or time in between.

Here's my new range, 25, 40, 46 and 69 yards. Because I haven't shot yet I think I can post this in general discussion rather than Target shooting? :)

It's my back porch where I can shoot in any weather. Yes, TV for occasional viewing with an overhead propane heater. It's cold and wet here in Western WA. many days of the year.:)

Thick aluminum plates behind each targets, nobody lives in my old house, it's abandoned.

UMAREX Customer serv.

For that reason alone I can nolonger recommend buying a Umarex Product. They highly promote their products online and at shows but when its time for service or ordering parts they don't even answer the effing phone. When the annoying recording says leave a message it says mailbox is full. If you are lucky enough to get a real voice they tell you to hold on but never come back. Umarex products...Hell no, never again! *Updated the end of post after their response.
