Taipan Veteran 2?

Where are all the vids/reviews on this rifle? Doesn’t seem to be many on the internet and the ones on there are in another language…been thinking about pulling the trigger on one @ talon tunes, anybody in here have one? Just wondering if it’s worth the extra money or just buy a discounted older version one from Utah.. decisions, decisions 😀

Forgot I even had this 😀

While digging in my powder burner safe I found this little jem I had, forgot how fun of a little plinker it was, it’s a custom marauder I got cheap from Will Piatt’s wife on here for like $200, custom heavy barrel, single shot only, .177, I should dig a little deeper in the safe I might find more lol, was looking through my safe to sell a powder burner or two to fund this airgun addiction but I couldn’t bring myself to selling any 😀

What would be the first word coming out of your mouth if this happen to you?

Well, let me paint the picture of what happened to me this Saturday. It is 1:25am now as I am typing this story to share.

The rain finally stopped around 1pm today and I decided to stop by one of my permissions to see if I can do some target shooting and maybe at a few pigeons.
I got to the site around 3:30pm, packed with my FX Crown and Impact. Upon arriving, I saw a bunch of pigeons resting on the roof of one of the barns. Unfortunately I have to drive up to that barn where I normally setup to target shoot into the field. They flew off and scattered elsewhere.

I set up my table and got my target box and spinners out at 50 yards to check my zero. I was shooting my Crown with 18gr AA pellets. After adjusting to the wind pushing from right to left, I was able to confirm my POI was spot on again hitting my 8 spinner targets in a row from 2-1/2" down to the 1/2" size. My Crown never ceased to amaze me with its accuracy.

Happy with my POI check, I grabbed my Primos Trigger stick tripod along with my range finder and proceeded to do some pigeons shoot. I quickly found a few of them gathering on the roof of the adjacent building. I slowly walked towards them and hided behind the concrete barrier and set up my tripod. Used my range finder and lasered them at around 45-55 yards. Turned my elevation turret to 50 yards, powered on my SideShot and had one pigeon in my cross hair. Quickly adjust the parallax to get a clear focus and chambered an 18gr pellet. I was ready to shoot. Well, not quite. My breathing was out of sync as I was both excited to be out shooting again and out of practice for a while. The cross-hair was swirling around the pigeon like a tornado.

I took a few deep breath and calmed my nerve down. The pellet was sent flying downrange and it smacked the first pigeon square in the chest. Some pigeons have flew off but a few were dumb enough to hang around. I quickly chambered another pellet and got on target. This time there wasn't any hesitation in my part and another pellet launched thru the 500mm barrel at 880fps. Another solid hit to the chest. What? Another pigeon still available to give me a chance of a "Hat Trick"? Another smack to the chest of the third pigeon. Wow, I was both shocked and pleased with the outcome. I was grinning with pride and satisfied with my tool and my marksmanship. These pigeons were later picked up by an eagle that was eyeing them from afar.

No, this wasn't the part in regards to my title. Let me continue.

As I patrolled around the farm, I came across a large deceased diary cow left at the back of the barn. I texted the farmer and he told me that the cow had broke her leg and died. What a tragedy and a lost to the farmer. I asked him what was to be done with the body and he told me that someone will pick it up on Monday. Wait a minute, the cow would be left on the farm for two nights. This was an unplanned and wonderful opportunity for me to use it as bait to hunt the coyotes in this location. I was trying to get my Coyote#7 at this farm back in March when there was a still born calf. So I asked the farmer if he minds that I come back in the evening and give it a go. I got a thumbs up emoji.

I continued to shoot for another hour and tagged two more pigeons with my Crown before taking out my Impact MK2 to double check my zero. Using the target box and my DIY spinners, I was able to verify my 50 yards zero was spot on again. The H&N 25gr Gen2 slugs were pounding the steel spinners with authority. I then set up the targets out to 90 yards as I never got to finish my zero test last time out. After a few POI validation, the spinners were spinning with the impacts from these slugs. I was feeling confident and excited to hunt tonight.

So I packed up and went home around 7pm. Did a quick walk with my dog and headed back out to the farm after a quick bite.

I got to the farm at 9pm. Parked my truck 47 yards with a direct view to the dead cow. Mounted my trail cam on the pipe facing the bait. This will help me monitor any activity that might happen in the night. I then setup inside my truck with the window opened. My Impact was fitted with my Pard007S with an external 850IR light mounted on the side of the rail. Chambered a slug and I was ready.

The first hour went by quickly as I was mainly taking a nap knowing that the coyotes might not be able to smell and locate this dead cow yet. Then 12am came around and nothing happened. I continued to scan the area with my binoculars and no sight of any coyotes.

12:25am I decided to pack it up, feeling dejected and disappointed. But I knew hunting coyote was very challenging as I need to have plenty of luck and timing. I was going to give it another try Sunday night. After everything was packed up, I turned on my truck engine and put up my head lights. WTF! My new 14000 Lumens head lights that I recently installed lit up the area in front of me. What did I see with these super bright headlights?

Yup, a freaking coyote walking towards me at about 35-40 yards. It was blinded by my headlights and paused where it stood. We were both startled and surprised.

So, the first word uttered out of my mouth was..., no, not duck and ya. I quickly turned off the head lights and killed my engine. Well, with modern vehicle, the console light lid up inside my cabin like a flash bomb illuminating me like a Fourth of July fireworks. Of course I couldn't see where the coyote had gone, but I am sure it hightailed his ass out of there as quick as you could say SH@T.

I thought this was going to be a good night consider how my day went. But now my cover was blown and if the coyote was smart, it would not be coming back anytime soon.

I will check on the trail cam and the bait tomorrow morning to see if any coyote feast on the large platter of steak.

Sorry for the long winded story, but let me know what your first word would be if this happened to you. LOL.

Dreamline reg adjustment/POI issue

I have a Dreamline classic .30. For the last few months I’ve had the regulator pressure set around 100 (I know it’s low) with my scope perfectly zeroed. Today I decided to take the reg pressure up to ~145. I anticipated that my POI would creep up, as it has in the past when I’ve raised the reg pressure. Instead, my POI dropped so substantially that I don’t even have enough downward elevation on my scope to sight in. Is this unusual? My experience and instinct says that if anything, the opposite should be happening (pellet is traveling faster, dropping less for a greater distance, hitting higher.) Not sure what I’m missing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Whistle Pig got unlucky

I just stepped outside to shoot the new pan targets I set up yesterday. I filled the FX DreamLine lite and had the NSA Slugs in it.
In the neighbors yard I saw the WP out and just enjoying the day. Sorry about your luck Buddy!
1 shot, 1 kill at about 85 yards. He just flipped over on his back and did a few twitches.
He's in the field as buzzard feed now.
Was off a swivel/tilt bipod. And yes. That is a Dog Tag in my boot.

Having trouble filling air tank

Newbie with a new compressor (Big Foot) and air tank (6.8L). After a minor issue, the compressor is up and running. However, when I try to fill the air tank, I must be doing something wrong. When I try to fill the tank from empty, it only takes 3 or 4 minutes, which seems incredibly short to me, and the compressor shuts off at the desired pressure. The compressor gauge and tank gauge read the same. So, I'm figuring at this point, I should be able to shut the tank valve, bleed off the pressure, and I'll be good to go, right? Well, the tank valve doesn't shut off the connection between the tank and the compressor. After I close the tank valve, I go to bleed off the pressure at the compressor, but the tank will drain. Embarrassingly, I thought I had a defective tank valve, so I bought another one.....but it does the same thing. This must be operator error. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Trouble with stuck deadheads

Assembled and tested a couple elbows, tool marks and all. Installed the right deadhead to check for leaks. It was a little snug fit. After testing I could not move the female fitting sleeve and the deadhead won't budge.??? Okay, tested the deadhead on the left easy fit... held pressure. However, deadhead and female sleeve won't budge either. Please advise (on bended knee).

The FWB 300s is completed (The stock that is)

Finally, the job is done! The Turkish Poppel have an amazing structure, and suits the old Feinwerbau very good I think. But the scope not so much, because of the narrow loading. But it is doable…
Some before and after pictures, and couldn’t resist putting in the Moskus picture hanging in my cabin. 😎

FX Service -terrific!

I purchased a Dreamline Classic used from an AGN member sometime early last fall.

Recent pictures noticed it would leak down during storage.

I logged on to the FX website and inquired about sending it back for repair. Within fifteen minutes I had a reply. Long story short, to my surprise, they fixed it under warranty. Had it returned in less than three week. Terrific service. Exactly why I gave several FX rifles in my vault!

Thank you FX!

Kalibrgun Cricket Mini .22 super pester

I’ve owned a ton of rifles over the years, and really liked a bunch of them, but this little gal is one of the most versatile, accurate and shoulders better than just about anything I’ve owned.

I can run redesign’s at 750ish , 18’s at 880 , hades over 900 and GTO’s over 1000 if need be, all with incredible accuracy at 30 yards. Having said that, I’ve got .30 and .357 rifles that fill my need for anything from deer, yotes, turkey and squirrels.

Where this rifle really shines is down low, she’s super adjustable and just as accurate at low speeds. With her weight, length, accuracy, mouse fart quiteness, incredible shot count and shouldering capabilities, she makes a perfect weapon for my falconry bird abatement job.

While most of my pigeon work is with birds of prey, I do have lot’s opportunities to use my air rifles when the job is too dangerous for the hawk. With this setup, I’m able to feed the pigeons to my hawk with no worries (lead poisoning).

My second need for a low powered rifle is my chicken coop (inside and out). The rats seem never ending. I literally can kill a couple per night, year around. With lead being toxic to poultry, again I’m able to take advantage of low speeds, superior accuracy and literally an almost silent rifle.

While the majority of all my pigeon and rat shooting takes place inside 30 yards, I did want to see what she was capable of out to 50 yards. I expected very little with 15 and 11gr pellets in the 685-690 fps range, but I was definitely WRONG. In the right conditions, I have no doubt I could make clean, accurate kills at 75 yards on pigeons.

What makes the rifle the most special, is she is literally the CHEAPEST pcp I’ve ever purchased since starting the hobby 15 years ago. 😂

Behold- “Jolene”, the do it all, silent pester! Below is the 5 shot group at 50 this morning off a single bag (bipod was inside and I must have been lazy). I’m not going to add a picture of the 30 yard groups, as they are literally hole in hole.

How accurate is “accurate”and what do we expect

Hello everyone,

I had a GREAT morning of shooting a half dozen paper targets with absolutely perfect weather conditions. However while shooting I began to think about how, we as target shooters, forget and don’t always take into consideration some HARD Factual Numbers. I’m not trying to go “geek” but need to have a good perspective of the accuracy of each shot so as to improve on my ability.

Let me explain with the attached target as an example::geek:

Look at the top row, left to right, at number 4 target. When I shot this I said damn and then thought, OK it is not a dead center bullseye but really it is still a good shot. Here is how I was aiming at each target to adjust for my rifle and the scope, I was placing the small round dot of the reticle at the bottom-center of the “1" of the ten (10) in the bullseye. Yep that is how precise I was shooting this target. I brought the target in the house and used my digital calipers to actually measure the distance from the “aim point” ( bottom-center of “1" ) to the true center of the 10-Ring and as you can see it is ONLY .0355 of an inch. Man that is almost nothing, but that tiny bit compensates for my rifle and scope. Look at the rest of this target ( not to brag ) and see how many dead center ( or almost ) I shot on this card using that “aim point”. Now look at the first target on the last row and even though I did hit the 10-Ring ( barely ) it does count as a hit but I was very disappointed . Again I measured from the center of the POI to the center of the 10-Ring and it is only .1205 of an inch. Man that is ugly on this card but, had I been shooting at the head of a Squirrel at 25-yards, he would be Vulture candy right now :ROFLMAO: .

Well what the heck is all my ranting and raven about, are we too demanding on our equipment and our ability? I guess it all lies with the individual shooter, in my own opinion I don’t think so. With that said it is important to try and keep everything in perspective.
