Just got this FX Mav Compact 177 this week. I've only had time to zero it with Crosman Heavies at 18y after a barrel cleaning.
It's starting out well. Two for two DRT's. I hope to have the scope cam running next week.

Just finished mowing my 100 yard range and had to test my Raw .22 at 100 yards .
Wouldn’t ya know as soon as I get set up the winds pick up in NE Ohio . The mirage was crazy today !
I’m practicing up for the Pyramid cup .
Hopefully I can get a calm day and see if I can get some better targets .

As I fall further and further down the slug rabbit hole...

22 cal M3. Tensioned slug barrel and heavy liner. Any advice on optimizing the slug seating depth using the NSA adjustable pin probe? Are there physical indicators to show when it is seated in just the right spot relative to the rifling?

Just wanted to see if there are any tips before I embark on total trial and error. Thanks for any info.

I placed a bid and thought, "I'd only pay this much for it". It's a beater. I already have some nice ones. Should I install the Vortek 11 ft lb HW55 kit and keep a scope on it? Bend the barrel up. My xxx big man size hands (8 1/2 " long) like the pistol grip. The swell. No set back triggers needed most are too close.
Not really my style, most all my guns are well kept. Except some of my rarest prewars. This thing's ugly.
Maybe put a Chinese diopter on it and let youth etc shoot it "no concerns". Maybe.

This is my first post here and I want to add a reasonably priced pistol scope. Red dot has been great but I want to extend the range. I would appreciate any suggestions.

So while I was waiting for my Notos to ship I was on the PA website looking at reviews. Somebody mentioned that their notos had an issue with the bolt binding inside the reciever during the cocking cycle and causing serious wear, eventually causing it to become unusable. So after mine arrived I made a point to lube this area with silicone grease. Unfortunately that very thing started happening only a couple hundred shots in. It would bind to the point it wouldn’t cock without extreme force. I knew this would very quickly scuff the internal surfaces and lead to more severe wear. I considered returning it but decided to try remedying it first. So I took it apart and cleaned off the silicone grease and applied an extra tacky extreme pressure synthetic grease. This has completely eliminated the problem and the cocking cycle is smoother several hundred shots later. Unfortunately the silicone greese doesn’t have the correct lubing properties. Be cautious however that you don’t get the grease forward into the action where the orings are as it may damage them.

also I was tweeking the trigger. It can be made very light (single stage tho) but I found out this allows the gun to fire even with the safety engaged. So be cautious of that.

Bought this K1 in Jan 2022 from NEA. Had issue with leaking seal under regulator gauge, replaced the seal and all was well - I thought. Shot a few rounds, aired it up and put away.
I get it out for a shooting session recently and it has zero pressure in it. Aired it up and shot a few rounds without issue. So, I don't know if there is a leak somewhere around the gauge still or what it's problem is but I have two of these and this one is bound for a new home. So, this rifle has had less than 2 mags worth shot through it, has a slight mark or two on the rail from mounting a scope, is not leaking at the moment but might start again, and apparently does not like me.

UPDATE: Damn thing is empty again, didn't hold air over 24 hrs. Price adjusted.

Goodmorning Friday peeps I decided to destroy some crap by the dumpster this am

To my surprise the plasma TVs of the early 2000s were built like tank armor. (Unlike their LCD Counterparts) If it was a real bullet I’d believe the results would be different but still this 740fps 50 cal modified performance pistol punched this steel core spike round straight on with this tv facing front 25 yards away with the spike steel tip being bent almost 85 degrees.

So I have a 177 Mav compact. I haven't adjusted the regs, so I don't know the first reg setting. I installed a digital manometer at the rear. When I shoot it stays at 82-84 bar. When I leave is over night it will get to 87 bar and stay there. Is this an acceptable number?

I know acceptable is dependent on purpose. I just want to get ahead of this in case its an issue since it is brand new.
Currently my compressor is down, so I can't waste too much air I have on checking the other reg. I hope to be back running Sunday.

Its currently sending JSB 10.34gr 920 fps from factory. From my limited shooting time its a good barrel with just the Crosman Heavies I've been feeding it mostly. (25 yards)

I have a 20 year old Shooting Chrony, I think it’s the alpha model. Currently I get an ERROR about 1 of every 4 shots Also the last 2 digits are almost illegible.

Could you please recommend me something to replace it?

My first priority would be that it is SMALL, easy to store. Then, if possible, that it is cheap & easy to get. I’m an old guy so for me simple is better... no fancy functions or phone app needed...

Hi. My only air rifle is the Benjamin Maximus. As you know, its limit is about 2,000 psi and very easy to hand pump. FPS with 22 cal, 15.89 grain pellets is somewhere between 850 to 900 (I think).
Ok, so my question is, what are you gaining by going to a rifle such as the Gauntlet or Marauder that is more around 3,000 psi? The FPS on those rifles is similar to the Maximus in the same caliber.
Is it simply the ability to take more shots per full air load, or are these rifles actually more powerful in some way.
Please explain.

Part of my range set up are some two sided targets, cast iron skillets.

One side is iron. But is you turn around the stand, on the opposite side they are filled with modeling clay. For a different effect.

Im looking an all around pcp rifle from .177 to .25 please let me know your best options to buy the pcp under $1000 .
