N/A  Help selecting a new pellet gun

Trying to sort through all the information that is out there to help select a new pellet rifle. My most recent GS1000 is giving up the ghost... never been really wild about it.
I've read many threads here on gas vs springer - looks about 50/50 so no preference here.

Wants: .22 cal, repeatable accuracy (aside from the person pulling the trigger), not heavy - offhand shooting and want to be able to lug it around over distances, good range, + or - $500 (Probably not $1000).

So many out there and so many 'reviews' is it best to start with the best brands (which I don't know) and try to back into an affordable model? Are there some clear choices based on the above? Other questions I should answer to help narrow the options? I see Weihrauch, Diana, etc mentioned frequently with models in this range.. others?

One review will tell you that the Wildcat Whisper or Swarm are the best, etc. Lots of these are on 'websites 'and not a group of dedicated people with experience, so I think I'll get better/more accurate info here.

Thanks for any help

As a side note I decided to ask Bing's AI what was the best spring piston pellet rifle around $500.. because... I've never asked an AI about anything before - its answer: Diana Model 48, Air Arms TX200MKIII - more affordable option Hatsan 95 Combo - Its recommendation was Pyramyd Air for the widest selection :)

I contacted [email protected] & [email protected] nothing no response.

there is a call number on the site with a message (Feel free to call us at 310-773-8565)
they do not answer calls that are not from the United States (I am in France)
I can't do anything to get in touch with them.

I am distraught about this situation, I don't know how to contact them or how to get my money back

If anyone knows how to contact them I would be very grateful if they could help me.

Air Arms  HW97 VS TX200 or comparable

Hi everyone,

I'm considering adding a springer to the collection. This would likely be a plinker and maybe a field target rifle, even though I know piston field target is more difficult than pcp.

In match results I see mostly TX200's and HW97's. What are the pros and cons of each? I've heard the TX200 is simple to work on vs the HW97 which is a plus.

I was told there had been a blue stock for the TX200 but looking on their site and pyramid, its no longer an option. It kinda sucks as I do like my blue stocks.

Is the price of the TX200 ultimate springer worth it over the standard? Is there a benefit to the options of it to justify the price for casual shooting?

Also I'm not locked into just these two. I'm willing to consider others of the same build performance and quality.

Thanks for any feedback.

Joules for the casual airgunner

I'm just a casual target shooter/plinker out to 50 yards.
I'm interested in the Weihrauch HW97KT and contacted Krale for pricing.
Is online info available or is there someone who can explain this joules/fpe/fps thing?
I know it carries a lot of weight in Europe, but AFAIK its unlimited in the US.
The rep at Krale told me that nearly all their guns were 20 joule models?
Is this the standard?

PCP Rifle  SOLD Last Gun !!!!...package deal.

Ok here is my last PCP,

A Rainstorm .25 with so many extras that you can have this gun running forever or even better if you have other Evanix guns you'll have all kinds of spares.

It is not worth it for me to sell the gun alone because I would be left with a ton of part I will not need, in that case I will keep it since really she is a forever gun.

The shipping will be in 2 separate boxes to minimize any possible damage.

This Rainstorm .25 has a depinger and the barrel was tuned by Knifemaker that did a beautiful polishing job and a fantastic enlarged oval transfer port.

The spare parts will be :

An extra barrel
extra air tube
extra longer shroud
extra Winchester stock
Neil Clauge Suppressor
extra air gauge
all the O-rings needed and marked so can get more ( this was a kit that Will Piatt made me )
extra Poppets and check valve
2 magazines and a single shot tray
even throwing in a 15 rounds magazine for a MAX-ML .25
2 barrel bands,...one made by Tom Costan ( AmericanAirArms ) that has a weaver rail under the band.
a ton of hammersprings with twin springs combinations to make whatever tune you want to
couple other things like endcaps and stock spacers
and a bunch of Baffles made by Will Piatt

All this for 1100 bucks shipped...as I mentioned it will be in 2 boxes

Once again, makes no sense to me to not sell it a package so really there's no use trying that route ;)

HW/Weihrauch  One of my favs

After a relaxing morning of shooting the spinners and plates decided to put the HW97 on paper for some groups. A mild headwind with a right to left push didn’t cause too much grief. (9) 5 shot groups at 32 yards then for the hell of it sent 10 shots out to the 85 yard plate. HW97KT in .20 cal shooting JSB 13’s at 720fps.

PCP Rifle  SOLD 2021 .22 Huben K1 with Huma Reg and LW Barrel

I purchased directly from Kraz Cool in 2021. When I first received the rifle it had a bad receiver gauge. While Kelly at Kraz Cool had it for the warranty work he suggested installing a Huma regulator and tighter twisted LW barrel to get higher pellet accuracy which has been a great upgrade. Regulated pressure holds much better when doing fast shooting versus an stock K1 regulator.

The K1 will ship with full price coverage insurance and signature confirmation.

FX  FX Panthera ISSUES!

I can no longer figure out what is wrong or how to tune my Panthers. First I bought it new two months ago and had issues with grouping at 985fps with HN 30gr slugs .217. First issue the regulator took five minutes after each shot to get back to my set reg pressure. I got a Huma reg and solved this issue. Found the AMP reg was no the right size and works now. Second issue I found the piston was bent from hitting the block to mount front rail. I bored the block and got a gen 2 valve pit and solved the second issue. With everything fixed the gun still can’t get good groups at 126 yards. My Impact MK2 and hit the same hole at this range with no problem. What is a good reg and spring setting to help me get started. I put about 3000 rounds through and can’t get this dialed. Also liner was not all the way in and fixed that and same issue. Please help

Air Arms  New to the airgun world

I am brand new into airgun and have been speaking to a lot of people about which airgun is the best option for me. I am a huge bird hunter and primarily would be using my airgun to shoot birds and small game. Many people have said my best option right now is to go with the Brocock Ghost .22 as it will give me the best bang for my buck.

Any thoughts on other options and/or if I just purchase the ghost compact?

Thanks!

Anyone spray-painted their Crown?

Just wondering if anyone has spray painted their synthetic Crown.
Am I the only crazy one to do so?

I have always wanted to try spray painting my guns but never had the courage to do so until recently. I have watched a lot of YouTube videos where people painted their AR15 and after watching Moose's video, I plunged in head first.

I have only used two colors, tan and green for my Crown.
Here are a couple of pictures. Video to follow.

FX  Warranty on Ebay FX items.

I called a few FX dealers to find out about any warranty on the FX items on Ebay. It doesn’t look good for
getting them fixed (if they even work for any time).

I was told that a few weeks ago a meeting was held with FX USA and the FX dealers. In the brief meeting dealers were offered a large number of FX rifles at a significant discount below dealer cost. These rifles were declared to be rifles that had been returned
for repair at least 3 times to FX USA and were “unfixable” and customers received replacement rifles.
I’m talking pallets of rifles that FX USA COULDN’T FIX THE ISSUES IN 3 Tries! Needless to say dealers knew that RIFLES THAT WERE UNFIXABLE BY FX USA WERE NOT ATTRACTIVE AT ANY PRICE. Dealers that spoke to me said they wouldn’t touch them, and this is while dealers were low on inventory and could use a good batch at a lower price.

Now, somehow, they are being sold by someone on Ebay by an entity located in Wilmington, NC.

1) Legitimate FX dealers are not allowed to sell on 3rd party platforms (Ebay, Amazon, etc.). If so, they
lose their dealership. It's in their contract.
2) Legitimate FX dealers are not allowed to advertise any current products (ex. Impact Mk3) below MAP.
for any reason. If so, they lose their dealership.

So why is someone dumping FX products if they were quality goods? How could they be a legitimate FX dealer?

Dealers are waiting for GOOD inventory, why wouldn't they buy it?

3) Buyers are advised to contact the seller prior to purchasing any products to determine from whom they are buying, and if the seller will personally honor the warranty. (And determine if they will still be around in the future).

According to their contract, FX dealers would lose their dealership for doing what is being done on Ebay.
So HOW CAN THIS BE A LEGIT FX Dealer? NO FX DEALER WILL HONOR THE WARRANTY FOR ANY OF THE ITEMS.

I dont know who is offering these rifles for sale, but I will say this for sure

“NO FX DEALER WILL
WARRANT THESE RIFLES”. Why would they?
Don’t believe me? Call ANY legit FX dealer and ask if they will honor the warranty for these Ebay items.

Nice day today - good turnout for a Wed. Mostly calm but whoa sometimes the calm brings ghosts that make stuff unpredictable. Plus the linelicker flyers are frustrating - all pellet shooters shot flyers today. Ed's, new to him, 2500X turned out to be really good.

Joe's birthday so he gifted us free matches today. Happy birthday Joe! World champ Bob Sofsky brought Joe a cake!

One Squirrel By One Squirrel...

I was able to reduce my wire gnawing vermin by one again today. This one was one of those "delicate" shots. I have an open lot in front of mine where the city decided that they needed to have a flood plane drain, so they wacked the house and now it is my dog's permanent toilet! The squirrels have made it their home also. Routinely, they come over to bury their acorns and chew up the wire to the lighting in the front of my house. I have decided to "risk" mu exposure and "thin the herd." The shot was 78 yards with my 15" EVOL .22 with Huggett Snipe moderator using a JTS 18.1gr domed pellets at 977fps @ 37FPS. I have a Hawke AIRMAX 30 Compact 6-24x30 SFP scope on it. One shot to the head and it dropped with about 4 seconds of nerve twitch. Now I was inside my front door - which was held open with the latch on the pneumatic door closer - using my tripod and sitting. The EVOL barrel was 8" inside the door frame and was not visible unless you got within 50 degrees of the door to see it!

FX  Dynamic Express 700 .22 Speed Issues

Hello,
Im making this post to write down something that concerns me about my 700 Dynamic Express in .22
I am trying to shoot the 40gr zans at about 900 or even 1000 fps. The gun arrived at 120 bar on the regulator and the micro on 2. It was shooting the 40 grains at 820 fps. I played a bit with the regulator, set it on 130 bar and the micro wheel on 2.5, managing 865 fps consistently. I tried to increase the power just a bit more and i just cant do it. For example, with 130 bar on the regulator, when i try to set the micro at 3, the fps will drop to 350. I tried higher pressure on the regulator, 135, 140, 145, 150, 155, 160 and 165. All those reg pressures cannot get more than 700 fps and the maximum i can get the micro wheel is close to 2. Example, 160 bar and the micro at 2, i get 730 fps. If i try to get the micro to 2.5, the speed instantly drops to 350-340 fps. If i set it back, i can get it back to 730. The issue is that it does not like my micro to be more than 2.5. Even at 130 bar, i should have been able to have my micro at 3.5-4, right? Anyone else experiencing something similar?

Fur trappers here, do you use PCP to dispatch your catch?

I started trapping in the 3rd grade tail gating my dad, as he did with his dad and grandpa did with grant grand dad. It would have been great to have these air guns to dispatch my coons, bobcats and yoydes plus a few other critters.

Depending on the situation I'd have a few options to kill my catch..club the head, drowning, or .22 to the head.

The club causes a lot of blood clots..blood damage that's difficult to skin out. The .22 head shot is ok but it also causes damage that the fur graders will dock the grade. Drowning is the best option but that's not always possible. To drown a coon is extremely difficult with a forked stick.

Beavers are easy with the drowning wire and as for minks.

It would have been great to have a PCP to dispatch my catches, normally in very early mornings or evenings, to avoid the BANG!.

However....I'm not positive which. Cal I'd use on each particular trapped critters. Coon...most likely. 177cal. Bobcat and yoty...coyote..would have to be .25 cal which would cause much less damage to to hide as a .22 firearm.

I miss trapping, here in Washington it was voted out around 1990? The hound dog hunters hated trappers because they said their hounds would step in the traps, which did happen a few times, but not worth stopping trapping. But the next year hound hunting was outlawed! My best friend and his family were hound hunters, mine were trappers... we both fought each other and turns out we both lost.

Now there are beavers chewing down our yard trees...not really,, but the cougers are running rampant.

Well, back to the original OP..are there any trappers here that dispatch their catch with their airgun? :)

The attached picture is a bear walking around my property. Camera work great!

Is this the longest post here??

FX Warranty Support/ Utah Airguns

I wanted to share my experience with FX support and Utah Airguns. I have a new FX Crown that was purchased in September (from another dealer). Since FX USA dissolved, Utah Airguns has taken on support and I contacted them about some issues I was having (regulator leaking and some gauge issues). They ball parked 2-3 week turnaround time and I was sent a service request form. I sent in my gun last week and they received it on Friday. They shipped it back on Monday (yes, in only 3 days) with the following note on my account:

WARRANTY REPAIR:

Gun was leaking from the regulator. The regulator was completely resealed and piston was replaced. The gauges were replaced and timed to be upright and still show pressure accurately...

I was amazed at the fast turnaround time. The repair was done under warranty with no charge. Since I live in Southern Utah shipping was only a day in either direction, so I was without the gun for only a few days. Hopefully, I don’t get Utah Airguns in trouble by setting a false expectation for anyone else reading this and needing to send in a gun for warranty, lol. But, I know there was some concern about FX repairs after the FX USA thing and my experience is that they are on it.
