A Premonition of impending disaster.....

Yesterday I was getting ready for my weekly ground squirrel hunt, making sure my Maverick Compact .22 was dialed in. I thought the breech o-ring is about to go, sure as heck,,,10 shots later it let go. Now I've got Months of pellets through it as in thousands so it's not unexpected. I just thought it was interesting that I had that premonition. Now, it I could just get it to work on a serious lottery ticket.

PCP Rifle  SOLD (PRICE DROP) Zbroia Hortitsia

Quick update - decided to verify accuracy and shoot a group since it hasn’t been getting use in some time and discovered that it appears my reg is creeping (1st shot was really low fps) and now seems to not group as well as it had previously.
I was getting about 2” groups at 35yds where as before I would get 1/2-3/4”…
So as it sits it has issues and will need some TLC to sort it out.
Still a very nice rifle but reduced price due to current issues

have a Hortitsia I’d like to pass on to another member.. it’s 22 cal 450/220 version.
I purchased this rifle used from Utah airguns. It had a pellet clipping issue when I received it which i resolved some time ago by opening up the baffles in the factory shroud and also realized that the shroud was over-tightened which was another contributing factor to the clipping issue..
She prefers JSB 13.43s with the current tune and slings them out at 875-880fps.
One great traditional style hunting rifle that’s taken its fair share of squirrels in the past.
No leaks, a few small blemishes from normal use. Comes with one mag and the fill probe, scope not included in sale.

Only parting with it because I’ve been bitten by the power and speed bug and have a few too many rifles which I’ll soon be selling as well.
Asking $550 $325 shipped now inside the CONUS.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Taipan Veteran Shorty .22

SOLD pending payment … to @scubajeeper

This gun is a shooter but sadly I have to make some space in my safe. $975 shipped in continental USA. Regular PayPal or money order. I have lots of sales and positive feedback here so buy it’s confidence.

The wood stock has some safe bumps on it but it’s a hunter and functions flawlessly so it shouldn’t matter if you are looking for a precision shooting tool. Includes 2 mags, spare o-rings, manual, adjustment pins and test targets.

USPS Money Orders - IMO Do Not Accept Unless

I was checking out the classified and say someone was accepting USPS Money Orders and certainly if you know the person and trust them there is no problem. With that said I know for a fact that USPS Money Orders can be fraudulent. I worked in the financial industry before retirement and dealt with fraud against customers and against the company. Basically if it is printed it can be copied, I’ve seen 1 IRS check that was fraudulent. If you accept one once you know it has been cleared and is no longer negotiable make sure you shred it.

HW/Weihrauch  2 serious plinkers

I was on my range blasting away with two favorites. A HW77k and a HW97kt both in .25 cal. These two guns are the best, really enjoyable as well as reliable. Neither has a spring kit yet, but act as though they do. When hitting steel they let you know with a solid ring. Another bonus is so easy to watch the shot.

IMG_6701.jpeg
This pair is hard to put down, never get enough. Prefect on my range 25 yd. to 45 yds.
Do many of you shoot the .25 cal. springer?
Went to AGS to buy paper targets, I”m out and so are they.
I did check out the new Air Arms Laminate and Black Stain. I liked the black stain. It changed in colour from black to purple, looked really cool. I was eye balling another Pro Sport which I don’t need, it sold about 2 hours before I got there. Problem solved. Someone got a great deal and gun.

N/A  50fpe .25

I'm kicking around the idea of getting a .25 capable of around 50fpe or around 830fps with the king heavies. Why you may ask? Similar trajectory to what I've been shooting for years with .22s in the 28-30fpe range but much better BC for windy days compared to my 16gr JSBs. Probably a bullpup as I'd want it under 36". Curious what you guys would recommend? Oh nothing FX as I don't feel like messing with harmonic tuning or poi changes. Only reason I'm asking is I haven't had a .25 in years. Only one I had that I really enjoyed was one of the first .25 Taipan Veteran Standards in the states. I do wish I could get that one back. But I'm not sure it's really capable of that power with a decent shot count? Anyways just something I'm kicking around to be easier to shoot in the wind compared to my .22 without going to slugs. Oh and budget around 1k maybe.

FX  Panthera first shot low FPS

Hello all,

I was discussing this in another thread but it seems like my issue must be slightly different. I have a Panthera .22 Compact and the first shot is always 40-80fps slow after sitting for an hour or more. The regulator the gun came with had 5-8 bar reg creep which made the issue worse. Even after 600+ pellets it wouldn't settle in so I swapped in the reg from my Maverick which I know is good. The issue still persists after 3-4 different attempts at fixing the regulator. I have tried at 110 bar and 120 bar reg settings. Here are my shot strings:

840
880
870
---
844
878
890
---
809
879
880
---
838
880
892
---
845
884
892

For a little extra background, Utah Airguns said they tuned it for me and when I shot my first few shots I just thought they did a crappy tune. The more pellets I put through it in a sitting the better it shoots. After 3-4 mags it's pretty tight FPS but when it sits it goes to poop again. Could it be a faulty valve? Utah Airguns and FX support both think it's the regulator but I've already swapped that out.

I'd like to avoid sending it in if I can.

Brocock/BRK  Ghost 177 HP info

I must apologize to everyone for printing some bad info. I have a ghost 177 hp and have been telling everyone that the hammer wheel does nothing if the gun was set for less than 20 fpe and this is incorrect. I was keeping pressure low at 85 bar and there it would do nothing with the light hammer spring today i pushed the pressure to 135 bar and am getting a good range of fps and shooting 13 jsb to 810 hammer wheel 4. It’s also pushing 16 gr slugs to 824 for 22 fpe, 13 gr slugs to 912 also for 24 fpe. And I’m assuming if you then go to the heavy spring you could get to the 30’s but have not tried yet. Again my apologies for providing bad info

Wolverine HP-R + 0dB moderator is there something quieter?

Howdy all
My new to me Wolverine HP .22 pushing it’s favorite weight pellet 25.39 with it’s 0dB moderator seem to be a bit noisier than the FX Crown (that was traded for the Wolverine) pushing it’s favorite weight 18.1 pellet with an Air-fective Carbon moderator (they are in UK). So is there something better than the 0dB to quiet the Beasty HP? Don’t get me wrong the 0dB is doing a great job but the Wolverine seems to be a bit of a beast compared to the FX. I shoot at home a lot and prefer to be as quiet as possible.

Thanks

HW/Weihrauch  Hawke scope and BKL mount issue

Howdy all

I’ve encountered an issue I wasn’t expecting trying to mount my Hawke scope to my HW97. The center of the scope where the turrets are hits the top of the mount - leaving a little space under the scope tube on both ends - in other words, I can rock it back and forth on the center. Which means if I tighten the scope rings, I’m guessing it will bend the scope tube.

Is there a way to shim the tubes safely? I was really wanting to use this mount and scope combo (I was also looking forward to getting sighted in this weekend)

Other  Rainson Edge X - first impressions

I decided to go ahead and buy a Rainson Edge X from Ares Tactical. I purchased the 'Dr. Russ Hunting Special', in synthetic. I haven't had a chance to shoot it much beyond some chrono testing, so this is kind of between an unboxing and a real review.

What came in the box:
  • The gun, set up for .25 caliber.
  • The .22 barrel and probe.
  • 3 magazines for both .22 and .25.
  • 1 single shot tray in .25. I'll be asking what it costs to get the .22 single shot tray.
  • A barrel band, already attached to the gun.
  • A shroud, already attached to the barrel.
  • A moderator.
  • A female Foster fitting that will fit on the gun's Foster port. Originally people complained about the gun using a bastardized Foster fitting, but the gun came with a standard Foster fitting.
  • Some spare o-rings for ? The Foster fitting, I think.
  • A huge spanner for God knows what. Removing the regulator, perhaps.
  • A small wrench for removing the pellet probe when changing the barrel.
  • A users' manual, spelled 'User Manuel'. Oops.
First Impressions out of the box:
  • I chose the synthetic, but Ares will sell you the wood Edge for the same price. For plastic, it's pretty solid.
  • Man, this thing is heavy! I thought my wood Avenger was heavy, but this thing has some serious heft to it. Eat your Wheaties if you want to hunt with it.
  • There are two small picatinny rails on the receiver, and one was crooked. I would have been disappointed if the screw holes were crooked, but it was just because there was some room in the holes in the rail. Easy to straighten.
  • The gun came with the reg set to 150 bar, and there was about 180 bar of air in the tank.
  • The magazines are okay. They look similar to plain old Marauder/Avenger magazines, and are loaded in the same way.
  • The label on the side says, ".25 Caliber (6.35mm) something something." I guess that's going to be wrong when I change the barrel.
  • The manual is okay, not great. English was definitely not their first language. There are exploded diagrams, but they just point to part numbers, not measurements for items like o-rings.
Since I don't have any .25 handy, I went to change the barrel from .25 to .22. Taking the barrel out was pretty easy - there are descriptions on Youtube. However, they're a little incomplete. The shroud is held on by very small grub screws, and a fitting on top. There are no marks or notches to show where the shroud goes, so be mentally prepared to guess, or mark where the shroud goes. You don't need to put the shroud on; AFAICT it is just there for show. Of course at one point I got the barrels mixed up, and there aren't markings on the barrel to differentiate the two.

I then took it out to get some quick chrono tests. My experience with it was:
  • This thing is loud! Your neighbors will think you're shooting .22 LR in the backyard. When I get done with the chrono (cheap Chinese attached to the barrel) I'll put the moderator on it.
  • The gun feels okay. The grip is rubber and is a little small. My hand is pretty average size, and it just barely fits.
  • I didn't get a chance to zero the scope in, because the missus had Other Plans for me. With the scope I have on it right now, I have to crawl up on the stock to get in the eye box.
  • The trigger seems to be pretty nice. Mine came light from the factory. It is a two-stage trigger, and it felt like it slipped into a notch when you take up all of the first-stage slack. Breathe on it hard after that and it fires. Since I want to use it to target shoot, I don't have a problem with it being light.
  • Cocking is okay. It doesn't grate, and it's not as smooth as my FX. It has a long throw.
  • It has a Power Adjuster, with five selections from low to high. I swear I read somewhere that the lowest setting is Off, so I only tried four selections. Shooting JSB 18.13, the numbers out of the box were (fps):
689
787
902
922

I suspect that the difference between 787 and 902 are where the gun is wasting air. I will be playing with the regulator and hammer spring tomorrow.
  • It uses a lot of air. I haven't adjusted the regulator and hammer spring, but right now it will give me 50 or so shots before it falls off the reg. This from a 500cc bottle. Again, I think that is because it is tuned pretty hot.
  • The fill port is at the bottom of the stock. If you use one of those 5" gold filters at the end of your whip, you will then be getting pliers or forceps to unhook the Foster fitting because your fingers will not fit in the recess where the port is located.
I ordered the external regulator adjustment knob, but when that gun is full of air you need to be The Incredible Hulk to adjust that regulator. I suspect that when I let the air out of the gun it will be much easier to adjust.
  • I think that 500cc aluminum tank is where a lot of the weight is. I might try to get the carbon tank for it.
Tomorrow I'm going to adjust the regulator and hammer spring to shoot around 850 or thereabouts, and see how accurate it is.

Diana  More 100 yd Diana 54, .22/Pics

First the target with the orange sticker. My wife shoots very little. A .22 target pistol, a centerfire and a rim fire AR a tiny little bit. Tonight after 2 years I got her to try the 54. So there are here first 2 shots at 0 yards. All in the ten ring just a hit over a quarter inch. She like it, I think she is hooked. Then she was shooting tiny airgun silhouettes. Those chickens at 50 yards are tiny. Some one had left a target hang at 100 yards. Good condition, I had a flag at 25 yd's, the tail never even tickled. Shot the left group first, under 2 inches, good. Then I shot the rt group, under an inch and a half, even better. The fat hole was shots 2, 3, &4, I was amazed. Got home right before thunder, lightening, and a downpour by 2 minutes. No reloading, no clean.....I love these things.

EFT zero question

I'm thinking about how I'm going to set up a .30 for EFT. Normally I would set a 50 yard zero and live with holding or clicking under for the 20 to 45 yard targets.

However, looking at it in Strelok, I'm looking at a 5 mrad drop. I got to thinking, why not zero at 100 yards, then I only have to click one direction. The problem is that I only have 4 mils over the center on my reticle, so I would be required to click rather than hold under. The other problem is that I wouldn't be able to use a zero stop, but since I would never have to click a full revolution this wouldn't be a big deal.

I mean, I would still actually zero the gun at 50 yards because that's more precise, I would just be setting the scope at 4.2 clicks down rather than zero clicks.

Or I could zero at 20 yards and only click up. That actually sounds better, would be less confusing for me.

This all sounds weird to me because I'm used to the trajectory curve you get with regular field target. But since the trajectory curve for EFT isn't a curve (it's a ramp), I'm trying to break out of my old ways of thinking.

Anyway, what are your zero strategies for EFT?

PS: EFT. EFT. EFT. Not FT, not HFT, not hunting, not benchrest. EFT. I'm sure I would be very interested to know your set up for Hunter class field target, I just don't want to see it in this particular thread. Not trying to be a jerk, I'm just begging you to please keep any replies on topic for EFT.

Traditional Pistol  NLA Air Venturi v10 SSP aka Gamo Compact pistol- $175

I purchased this Air Venturi v10 in August 2021 from pyramyd (made in spain), has maybe 600 rounds through it. It Is stock, no mods. Includes 3 partial tins of pellets shown. It really likes the r10 ones. It shoots great I just got my huben gk1 and don't see myself shooting this much anymore

This is priced at $175 TYD for CONUS, for all the stuff shown in the pics - pellets, case, and pistol. I've got the manual somewhere too and will also include that.

Prefer paypal F&F but will accept other digital transactions like venmo.

PM with any questions.
