Dr. Robert D. Beeman's estate auction of historic air rifles and pistols

The late Dr. Robert D. Beeman who founded Beeman Air Rifles was known to have an extensive collection of historically significant air rifles. Rock Island Auction Company in Illinois is auctioning some of his collection in their August, 2023 auction. Included in his collection are two Giradoni precharged air rifles similar to the one made famous in the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Anyone interested in viewing the air rifles and pistols from the Beeman estate can see them at this site. The auction will take place from August 25-27. I have no affiliation with RIA and post this for anyone who might be interested to check out the collection.

RAW Rapid  Saber Tactical Chassis for RAW HM1000X

I was wondering if anyone has tried one of these on their RAW yet. I have two RAW air rifles in the chassis version with a Grey Ops full length arca rail on them. The only thing I don’t like is that the Grey Ops rail is quite flexible as you can easily push it up against the air bottle so mounting a bipod out there isn’t very stable.
While I’m not crazy about how the Saber Tactical chassis looks I like how the bottom rail is supported by the tall sides all the way out to the front so it appears it would be very stout all the way to the front. Has anyone used one that can confirm or deny that? Thanks

  • Question
What are the best ways to minimize water accumulation in air tanks, and getting water out if it eventually does?

EDIT: For anyone who comes across this thread and would like more detailed information on all of the answers below, here in another great thread on the subject:
https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/tuxing-filter-which-one-for-yong-heng.1271604/

ORGINAL POST:

The answers to these questions might be very simple:
"Use a large desiccant filter when filling tanks." (like this?: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LKYXBYS)
and
"Depressurize the tanks, remove valves, poor out water, let dry."

But I'm curious if there are other methods, and what specific products/methods other people use. I want to learn how take good care of all my equipment.

SPECIFICS:
I have a compressor from Amazon called the GX CS3 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0819ZH85H
It has been working well for over a year. I use it to fill a 100cc Air Venturi tank.
Recently the humidity on the Southern California coast jumped much higher than normal for a few days - to around 80-90%. It's usually very dry. I used the compressor a lot on these humid days. I noticed that it was getting much more difficult to twist open/close the valve on the AirVenturi tank. I was also noticing a little water dripping from the fill ports after filling the gun. And when I bleed the line there's a very visible spray of fine mist condensing in the air and/or being released from the line.

Thanks for any info/suggestions.

My longest attempt yet - .25 cal RTI - 291 yds

In a nutshell - Molly (my dog ) and I set out to one of my farm permissions as I recently discovered a nice big field near one of the farmers other properties. He's given me permission to do pretty much whatever I want - cool! I wanted to get the .25 ranged out to 150 - 160 yds and mark up the top turret. That done we were going to cut out and leave as we had been there for about an hour or so and the bugs / flies, mosquitoes, etc . . . . were *REALLY* starting to get on my nerves and painfully chowing down on my legs. It was *windy* too . . . 10-15mph, left to right. I decided spur of the moment that I was going to run the last target - the furthest one with the 8" splatter target on it - all the way out to the far side of the field just for the hell of it. ( I asked Molly what she thought of the idea but she declined to answer - she just wagged her tail and wanted to go run back out in the field ) So we did. I had no idea how far it was going to be but suspected that we could possibly be pushing 300'ish yards. 291 is what it wound up being.

My strelok is generally pretty good / close at getting me in the ball park on the verticals (elevation). All day on this outing it was telling me way to much on the l-r holds for wind. I wound up (basically) using 50%-75% of what it might tell me for a given range. So - for this one @291 yards - it had me dial up 168 clicks. With my scope - a Blackhound 6-24x50 - that would be 3 full turns plus another 18 clicks. Strelok was telling me almost 4 mil of hold off to the left (3.9). First shot I only held off 2 - didn't even hit it near as I could tell. Second shot I held off 3 - Booyah!! "Holy poop!" I'm saying to myself . . . :ROFLMAO: Damned flies / bugs are biting the hell outta me now and I'm actually getting PO'd about 'em because they are creating quite the distraction. I "quickly" send shots 3 & 4 and near as I can tell - no impact. :( I'm done though - the damned bugs win. It wasn't until I got to with 30 or 40 yards of the thing when I did see a second strike on it. No clue when that was ( shot 1, 3 or 4 ) I'd wager 3 or 4 as I know for a fact I only held off 2 on shot #1 - but who knows. I wouldn't mind going back up there and trying this again on a non-windy day.

First pic - overall scene from my little shooting table - you can't even see the target
Second pic - a zoomed in version of the 1st
Third pic - self explanatory

AEA  AEA max power valve upgrade problems, buyer beware

I recently learned about the max power upgrade valve for the challenger and challenger bullpup big bores. I had to try it. The 1st video I saw was the Mr hollowpoint video. In that video he tests 3 weights, the lightest of which is 260 grain. Then I watched the bin tac video of how to install the valve, then I ordered it.

I received it and installed it. The first time I took it out, it worked wonderfully and exceeded my expectations. The second time, my velocities were down. I thought maybe it was a location, temp, barometric pressure or some such issue, I had observed some variance in performance with the gun before upgrading it. Before I could get all the data I wanted, the gun stopped cocking, I had to go home.

Turns out it was just a positioning problem with the bullpup trigger group and I hadn't tightened the screws enough, simple fix.

Went out the next day, and velocities were down even more. More than elevation, barometric pressure, and temp should account for. To give you an idea, in the stock configuration, the gun made about 900 FPS with a 200 grain slug, plus or minus a little depending on the day. After the upgrade, the same slugs were going 1145 FPS. Thats a difference between 400ish FPE and 580 FPE. I also tested a 366 grain and it made 706 FPE. Then on the subsequent two shooting days it made less and less velocity, until now, and it essentially indistinguishable from stock. Something is wrong, I message bin tac. Today he has his helper Jason message me. Here's the convo:

I never heard that it isn't for light slugs. They don't mention anything about not using light slugs in the product description. I can't think of a reason why using light slugs would be a problem. Mr hollowpoint used 260 grains in the test. Is that light? The lightest I can make that still fit in the mag are 240 grains. If I couldn't use the magazine anymore I wouldn't have bought it. Even if i did only ever want to use heavy slugs, they are making energy comparable to stock valve again now too, its not just the light slugs. I think this response is B.S., if you don't like it send it back and we'll sell it to someone who wants it? WTF kinda response is that?

PCP Rifle  SOLD Original Evol .22 HPS , ready to shoot package.

So with a Paradigm .30 coming and a rifle for PRS , this one will end up not used, the .30 is my bench gun.

It does have a couple beauty marks that are shown that were there before I bought the rifle

I installed a magpul prs lite stock on it.

Comes with 1 magazine. Original box.

This rifle shoulders very well and is very light.

Rifle alone $1600.00 shipped. Rifle with Discovery ED Prs 5-25x56 scope, eagle vision rings, and mkmaching scope rings and level $1950.00 shipped.

Western Airguns  Western Airguns are made where? USA? Where.

I like the power and innovation of Western Airguns but “made proudly in USA” doesn’t add up when I looked-into Sheridan Wy address is a holding company not a factory.

The holding company has a lawyer but the rest is a dead end. Where is this company? Where is the facility or factory ?
I know North Pole. Lol. Any real facts on the ground. Charlie
